  1. Oh God. This is without a doubt, NOT HHH.

    Make a statement

At least we don't see it just about every week, in fairly important matches. The Worm is more so there just to get a pop from the fans, like the Stinkface, and isn't meant to be taken seriously like the FU. When it comes down to it, taking everything into account I'd say the FU is a lot worse.

I already posted that, and more, on the first page of this thread.

Anyone NOT switch over to DVD yet?

The only VHS that I personally own are a bunch of wrestling tapes. Stuff that I recorded as it aired on TV and comp tapes that I bought. If I could put all of that on a series of DVDs, I'd love to. Is there a cheap way to do that?

    Back From The Dead...

I'm pretty sure that they say on the commentary that it's not a remake, and that they did indeed just have to re-shoot parts of ED since they couldn't use the footage for the sequel.
  6. Tonight I attended a Wrestling Extreme Overload (North American Championship Wrestling) TV taping in Walhalla, SC with my father, and it was something of an interesting time. It wasn't the best show ever, but it was ok. The biggest thing though was a few of the random things that I saw, and a few things that happened. We got there at about 6:00PM, and we didn't leave untill around 12:00AM. Rick Steiner was advertised to be at the show, but he either just pulled a no-show or something came up which kept him from being there. Either way, it pissed me off when I realized he wouldn't be there at all. I couldn't be too upset though, as I won the tickets, so this didn't cost me anything at all. When I got there, I didn't expect much at all from this show. I thought it would be something that almost no one would go to, and would be very poorly produced. Instead, we get there and it's a mad house. I couldn't believe how many people were there, hundreds of people filled the gym. While we were in the lobby, they had a few tables set up with items that you can buy, you know the deal. I'm standing there going from table to table, not paying attention to who is at the tables, and I realize that Lash LeRoux is standing there. So, I meet him and he's very cool. He was as nice as he could be, and seemed to be really enjoying talking to everyone. I go to the next table, and the guy sitting there puts his hand up to shake my hand, and goes "Hi, I'm Ricky Morton". I obviously know who he is when I see him, but I didn't know they would all be out here. I talked to him for a while, and he was even nicer than LeRoux. Later on, as I'm standing at a different table looking at some wrestling books, Morton sneaks up on me and grabs me and goes "Are you going to actually buy one of those books or are you going to just look at em here?". We both have a laugh, pretend like we are going to fight, then shake hands and just laugh and talk some more. Then I realize that Tracy Smothers is standing right next to Morton, so I meet him and chat for a while, and again he is very nice like the others. I ended up buying the book Pure Dynamite for $7, so that was cool as well. Then, we get to Ole Anderson. I've never met Ole before, but over the years I've talked to people who have both met him, and know him personally, and everyone has told me that that he's a bitter, sad, jerk of an old man. I didn't doubt it, but I discovered that for myself tonight. He looked as if he'd rather be dead than to be there, and he was rude to everyone. He was selling his book for $20 each, and he would say to people "Are you going to buy the fucking book or not? If not, then get outta here!", and he was just moving all weird, raising his voice, and insulting everyone I saw that met him. So yeah, Ole Anderson is a very bitter asshole now. I didn't even bother waiting to meet the guy. After seeing how he was doing, I just walked to my seat and ignored him. The show itself wasn't that great in terms of in ring action, but it was alright. The world champ, Dru D'Lite just sucked, and sucked hard. He had a HORRIBLE match with some guy in a horrible ninja mask, but finally won. After that, Jamal (Yes, Jamal from 3 Minute Warning) came out, and just destroyed D'Lite. Everyone was booing it, but I loved it. He did all of his main moves, and looked very good in the process. He was feeding off of the crowd better than most guys I see on WWE TV do, he looked like a mega star in there with that twat. Ricky Morton came down to help D'Lite, but he was destroyed also, getting various high impact moves done to him. Then it got odd. Later in the night, D'Lite came out, and Jamal destroyed him, Morton came out again...but got destroyed again. Then it happened again, then AGAIN. They made their champ look like the biggest bitch ever. Buchanan looked very good himself, and defeated someone early in the show, but later in the night he turned heel to joion up with Jamal...and yes, destroyed D'Lite and Morton...again. Then another tag team, as heels were out and had a match. Then, not too long after that they came out with USA stuff, like a flag and a hat, and turned face to fight another heel team. It seemed odd, and this was when I realized that a few guys just didn't show up or something, so they had to make do. I also think they did two tapings back to back, as almost everyone wrestled twice. The main event was a battle royal, the type that I've never seen before. The match consisted of a handfull of faces (including LeRoux and Tim Horner), the heel tag team The Turbanators (who previous wrestled two times earlier in the night), and then THREE LOCAL GUYS. One was the high school wrestling coach, and the other two...I'm not sure who they were. These people obviouly had no training in pro wrestling, so this match was absolutely funny as hell. The three locals were trying to do different things, but they acted like they were scared as hell to hit the other guys hard at all. They would just barely touch the bad guys, but the heels were forced to sell the offense. At one point near the end of this "match", the three local guys were in there and were trying to toss Tim Horner over the top rope and he yelled out "STOP, JUST STOP", and it freaked them out. He threw his hands up in the air, and just walked over the top rope himself, as if to say "like hell I'm going to trust my saftey in the hands of these morons". It was just great, I wish I had a video of it to show everyone here. The three locals ended up "tossing" everyone over the top ropes, and were declared the tri-winners of the match, ending the show. Another funny thing was that the young daughter, looked like she was 8-11, of one of the refs was sitting right behind me. He was going balistic yelling at the heels, and when the ref in one matct (not her father) had his back turned as the heels were doing some cheating, she yells out over everyone "PUT MY FATHER IN THERE TO BE THE REF, HE ISN'T BLIND LIKE THIS ONE!!!!". Ah yes, you just have to love these little indie shows, I have so much fun at them every time I go. I'm serious about Jamal looking good, VERY good. His movements in the ring, his interactions with the crowd, he was very impressive. I also enjoyed seeing Bull Buchanan. He did one move where he took his opponents arm, and then walked the ropes with it like Taker, but instead of jumping off hitting the arm, he held it, then did a leaping blockbuster type of move off of the middle of the top of the ropes. It just looked awesome, and I marked out for it big time. Tim Horner and Scott Powers had one of the worst matches ever also. It went to a 10 or 15 minute time limit draw, and I wanted to just beat someone senseless the match sucked so bad. Tracey Smothers looked alright in his match, but nothing like he used to be. The same goes for Ricky Morton. Dru D'Lite, he's a bitch and a half though, they made him out to look like the biggest joke ever. Any way, just thought I'd share a few ramdom things about my night, heh. I might be able to post some pictures later, just for the hell of it. Sincerely, ...Downhome...

    Wal Mart dvd bin

At the WalMart the closest to me, they ditched the bin in favor of just putting them all in order, on a shelf. It is so convienent, as I no longer have to look like mad man going through the bin. My favorites so far have been the following, I think I've picked up more than a few pretty good deals through this. 1) Arlington Road 2) Dark City 3) Vanilla Sky 4) The Talented Mr. Rippley 5) The Last Castle 6) Way of the Gun 7) Mr. Saturday Night 8) Suicide Kings 9) The Buddy Holly Story 10) A two-pack for $5.50 with Classic Superstars of Wrestling - Booker T: The Early Years/Classic Superstars of Wrestling - Cactus Jack: The Early Years 11) Another two-pack for $5.50 with Classic Superstars of Wrestling - Superstars of Yesteryear/Classic Superstars of Wrestling - Steve Austin: The Eary Years

    Make a statement

As far as Flair goes, I've always looked at him as so great in terms of character and his skill on the mic that it made up for his shortcomings in the ring. I'll never say Flair is the best WRESTLER ever, only the greatest total package. I'm not saying he's bad in the ring either. He simply found a niche and stuck with it throughout his career...and most people ate/eat it up so that is what he delivered. Aside from his matches with Steamboat, I love watching him fight as the underdog against guys like Vader. I think he pulls that off better than most also. He is also great as a heel or a face, something some guys can't do. For Flair, when he's the heel or the face, he's the #1 heel or face most of the time, when he was wrestling full time at least. I started an entire thread about this here if anyone is interested in going back in time about a year. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...=44233&hl=flair

    Back From The Dead...

Corey, FvJ did fucking great for a horror film of it's kind. It pulled in $82,622,655 domestic, and only cost $55Mil for production/marketing. Hell, it brought in $36,428,066 it's first weekend. Worldwide, it brought in $114,326,122. If they bring on the sequel, and include ASH of all people in it, of course it'll draw. Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't know what they are talkign about, period.

Then go watch the movies instead of saying crap like "Chalk me up as someone who couldn't care less about who the fuck ASH (Ketchum) or what movie Evil Dead is.".

    Back From The Dead...

Go watch the Evil Dead series untill you start bitchin, please. If you do that, then you'll see how it could work...very easily. If you don't know the character, the story, the movies, then as far as I'm concerned you have no idea what you are bitching over in the first place.

VU games to make "Scarface" game...

In one of my latest magazines (EGM maybe?) they talk a lot about it, and it is even on the cover of the magazine. The screen shots don't look that bad, but it'll take a lot of work to get it to do what they say they want it to do. If I had to just go out on the line and make a prediction, I'd say it'll suck ass and piss off just about everyone. If it's not don't just right, as well as be very fun to play, then it'll bomb.

    Back From The Dead...

I wish the title would simply be Freddy Vs. Jason: The Evil dead. I also think it would be insanely cool if it opened on Ash Wednesday. Either way, I am finally starting to feel good about this movie actually being made, instead of just an idea. I also don't think it's fair to say that the ED series is just a cult thing, as I know a lot of people who know of the films and have seen them, who aren't the type of people that would have years ago.

    Massive Godzilla boxset~!

This reminds me of other kick ass box sets from other regions. One of my favorites which comes out soon is this bad boy, the first three Hellraiser films. Oh if only I had the money, I'd have a huge room just dedicated to this kind of crap. I might just get the Hellraiser set though, as it isn't very expensive.

Throw The Jew Down The Well

This thread inspired me to finally check out Da Ali G Show. So last night after I saw this thread, I went and downloaded, and watched, every episode from the first season. I started watching the shows, and just couldn't stop. I must own the DVD set now. At about 2AM I was sitting here at my computer just going insane, laughing my ass off. I obviously had heard of the show before, but I had no idea that it's actually what it is.
  21. My biggest problem is when they do not focus on the match at hand. It's only worse when they are talking about something that happened a long time ago, or when Lawler talks about nothing but the women from earlier. Simply put, I wish that they would focus on more important things.
  22. Yeah, this isn't new or anything recent. As far back as I can remember it's been going on. It even sounds like it goes on in Puroresu from the sound in their voice. It's just one of those things you overlook. Would you rather a big move happen in the ring, but if it's at a point in the match where everyone and their grandmother KNOWS that the end isn't going to come, the commentators act like a smark and just say that this isn't the end since it's planned out? I don't think so. As far as calling the moves wrong from time to time, you just have to overlook that also. If I was calling a match I'd do it from time to time, if you did it then it would happen to you also, no way around it. I don't know of a single guy that it's never happened to. Then again, it's pretty easy to tell the difference between somone making a mistake, and a fucking moron.

    Zatôichi and Oldboy

Oldboy is on R3 DVD, as a two disc set but none of the special features have English subtitles. http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=11485 Oh yes, and a stern FU to MiramAXE!

    Zatôichi and Oldboy

The subtitles aren't that great, in that when two people are talking instead of doing this... -What do you mean? -I mean it's my birthday! They do... What do you mean? I mean it's my birthday! At times they don't even use periods or question marks, so it's confusing to start with, but it's quickly easy to understand. It's well worth sitting through, just trust me. Let me know what you think of it when you watch it.
