    Classic games thread

One of my top three or five multi-player non-sports games, of all time. If I had someone here with me right now and they wanted to play, I'd be up for it. I'm always up to play that game.

    The Old School questions thread

As for the other cousin, I'll assume you mean Cousin Luke. Junior and Luke's real names were Lanny Kean and Gene Pettit. Lanny worked in Memphis and was known as Moondog Cujo and "Bloody" Ox Brody. He was also known as "Luscious" Lanny Kean when he worked for Dale Mann in KY. As for Gene, he was known as Dale Lewis' "brother" Gene, Kharma and Molokai down in Kevin Sullivan's group somewhere in Florida. He worked in World Class sometime between '83-'83 and was known as The Mongol there. Also, if I remember correctly, Gene also portrayed the Midnight Rider who turned on Dusty Rhodes durring a match with Kevin Sullivan. The fans obviously knew that Rider was Rhodes himself, so when the Midnight Rider came down to the ring durring the match, they were confused and then shocked when the Midnight Rider turned on Dusty. I THINK all of that is correct, if I remember everything straight. I haven't read about it in a while now. Over at WC we were discussing it last year or so, something like that.

Not by me, I actually played every single one of them not too long ago. I especially love Taz's Escape From Mars!

I can't fucking believe that happened so damn quick though. I mean, hell, it wasn't even up for 24 hours.

For those of you who have not seen the...

I'm just going to come out and say it, and it's safe to say I'm not thrilled about it. When I got home tonight, there was a message on my machine from the guys where I host my files/website. It basicly said that the videos that I had uploaded had been deleted by them, as those who own the copyright found out about it and demanded that they take them down. Yes, Downhome has been owned by Jarrett. He's holding me down~!

    High Voltage

I was a huge mark for High Voltage. I never missed any of WCW's lesser shows, so I became quite familier with the team. While having Steiner/Kaos win the tag titles was odd and seemingly out of nowhere, would you not say that it was even MORE fucked up when Steiner replaces Kaos with Judy F'N Bagwell to be his new partner? I mean, what in the hell did that say about Kaos!?

    Crash Holly passes away

After speaking to a friend about this (Mean Mark Ash, works up in NC and posts at WC) he talked to me a bit about a few things, I have a few ideas. How about having the entire INDUSTRY cut down on relying so much on aerial and high impact moves and bumps, and going back to rely on TRUE psychology and the such, and allowing the aerial and high impact moves and bumps to be left for certain moments here and there. Besides, it'd make all of that stuff MEAN something in the end. I'm not saying to have shit matches, just change the style the such. There are guys out there who couldn't cut it, but that's life. Perhaps it is time to go back to a more psychological style of Pro. Wrestlng, at least for a while. Besides that, we need to fucking STOP with the harcore cut bodies that so many are trying to aquire and to keep. You don't need that shit to be a truly great Pro. Wrestler, just go back to the pre-90s and the such for proof of that. I could list Pro. Wrestlers all day that were truly great, that didn't have a cut as stone body. If you mix those two things up, a combination of the two, then I think we might get somewhere. We could possibly cut down a bit on the HIGH need for painkillers (rampant use) and obviosly help cut down on the steroid use.

    Crash Holly passes away

I'm sure that could be done, but you can NOT have an off-season, that needs to leave the conversation right here and now. The possibility of giving a certain "lot" of guys a vacation at a certain guys, while keeping a great number of people on TV wouldn't be hard to do, and most fans wouldn't even realize it.

You also just can't give everyone time off whenever they request it by SAYING they need time off. If you start doing that, every other guy out there would take advantage of it.

    Crash Holly passes away

The thing is that I have no idea what could be done, I really don't. All that I know is that it should be DEMANDED that something to be done about it, whatever that may be. It's no secret that people turn away to avoid the problem all too offten. It simply can not continue to go on like this. That's all I'm saying, I'm not here to get into a huge argument over this, it's just how I feel.

    Crash Holly passes away

I don't care what anyone says... 1) No one FORCED them to blah blah blah. 2) Vince can't watch everyone 24/7 (or whatever promoter they are working for). 3) They hurt, need painkillers. 4) *enter any other excuse here* ...the FACT, is that what is going on in this industry is UNNATURAL. There is obviously some fucked up shit going on, some fucked up shit that too many people are just ignoring and allowing to continue. We have a problem, there is a root to it somewhere, and it needs to be dealt with. Period. I don't have an answer, I don't even know what exactly the problem is. What I do know is that this needs to end. Sure, it'll never be totally over, but if something isn't done to slow this down, it's going to happen more and more, day after day, untill we're all knee deep in dead bodies, bodies of thos. You wont be able to turn back the hands of time and deal with it then. To just toss this aside and go "well, that's the business", that's just not true. It's not a part of the business to just die, and to see people die month after month. I'm not in a posistion to say what should be done, none of us are. Still, SOMETHING needs to be done. The problem isn't going away, it simply gets wose day by day now.

    Crash Holly passes away

Dear lord, I'm so sorry to hear this. Obviously, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, and as with all of the others, he'll always be in my heart. I don't know about you guys, but even though I'm not IN the industry, when I hear of one of the boys (or girls) passing away, I take it to heart. To me, they are a member of even MY family. It's so much more different to me than when a musician or a movie star or something passes. It truly gets to me to hear something like this, when one of OUR family passes. With that said however... ...this is IT, period. I don't care what, I don't care who does it, I DO care about when, and that time is RIGHT F'N NOW. Something needs to be done about this, and something needs to be done about this right here and now. Don't wait untill next year, or the year after, or five years from now. I DEMAND some sort of investigation into the business to seek out answers. This is not natural, and this is not the way it should be. If this was any other sport it would be national HEADLINES day after day, and the fans as well as those in the sport would demand something to be done about it. Well, here I am, as stupid as it may sound to some of you. As a fan, I DEMAND an investigation into this problem that not only gets worse year after year, but apparently, DAY AFTER DAY. I demand programs for those who are totally hooked on whatever it may be, have it be hard drugs, prescription drungs, or even alchohol. I want said programs to be promoted by ALL of the promoters out there, from Joe Blow down in the heart of Tx. to Vince McMahon himself. I don't know what all could be done about it, but it needs to happen now. We can't wait, and the industry can not wait any longer. Most importantly, the boys can not wait. The time is now, it's time for the wakeup call that was supposed to come over and over throughout this year. It needs to happen now...before it's too late. The unfortuente thing, is that it IS too late for so many already. Rest in peace Michael Lockwood, you will forever be missed.
  16. I just saw this topic over at WC and, once again, thought I'd post it over here to see what you guys would say. Just as the topic says, if you could pick ten guys to be on the cover of a history of the WW(E/F/W) book, what guys would you choose? To keep anyone from trying to be a smart ass, include WWWF also, heh. Here are my quick picks... Bruno Sammartino Bob Backlund Hulk Hogan The Undertaker Bret Hart Steve Austin The Rock Roddy Piper Bobby Heenan Billy Graham ...also, as I stated at WC, I understand how important Vince McMahon and his entire family is, obviously, but if they were to release a book about the history of the federation, I see no reason why Vince would have to be on the cover, to take away once again from one of the actual workers. Just have a huge chapter inside of the book with a few pictures and the such about the entire McMahon family, perhaps chapter one, and leave the outer cover to those of the ring. Ok, once I return later, I'll post WHY I picked the guys that I did, if the topic is still active. Sincerely, ...Downhome...

The OAO NWATNA thread for 11/5

Sounds to me like TNA is trying to recreate WCW. 1) Affiliate with NWA. 2) They have a hot "cruiser" division which is almost always the highlight of the shows. 3) Jarrett, Russo, Sting, Luger, Hogan. 4) They have some of the same sort of booking and angles at time from what I hear. ...I mean, is this not exactly what they are doing? Perhaps they believe that by trying to recreate WWEs FORMER competition, they can themselves become said competition.

    Return of The King

I'll own it ASAP, seeing how I fucking loved EA's Two Towers. That one is one of my favorite games of that genre ever, and I'm sure I'll love this one even more.

I personally prefer Arn Anderson's work on the stick over most people mentioned in this thread, sans Flair and MAYBE Foley.

    Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...

I don't see how you COULDN'T love, or at least like, Sting/Vader, that's a match all Pro. Wrestling fans could appriciate, and understand. At least that's what I thought. I'll never buy into the "Bret's good at interviews" deal. The only time that I've ever really enjoyed him on the stick was in his feud with his brother Owen, and the only reason that he was that great durring all of that is because true emotion was at play. Other than that, he just seemd like he was speaking for the hell of it, not because he truly felt anything with what was going on. There may have been a few other times where I "felt it" with him on the stick, but not many at all.

    never been face/heel

What great logic you are using there. Ugh. Must I assume that you also will "never ever count his stupid ass heel run" in WCW as well? How about that 1996-WM13 heel run? Never happened.

    Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...

I agree with you 100% about Sting/Vader, both men brought their A games that night, and they both played their roles perfectly. The Vader/Inoki match is just great, I still bust that one out and watch it every so offten. I still cringe at that German.
