As said before, I can list feud after feud, both old school and present day (past decade or so) which were succesfull, because of how basic the ideas around the feud was. Even the entire concept of the nWo was basic, it's what works.

Austin/McMahon last pretty damn long and it drew ratings. It was based on a pretty basic premise too. Corporate boss can't control the renegade fan favorite and sets out to stop him at all costs. Sure it got a little out of hand at points, but it never lost sight of it's basic premise. that was a revolutionary fued in wrestling. people could relate to it. thats what they try to do is to get people to relate. why do you think they are doing this jericho and trish thing. its a situation that we are all familiar with. typical smart ideas of a good story line are boring and not relatable. Like what? What ideas have we had that are boring and unrelatable? People relate with that which is most common and real. Necrophilia and people surviving flaming dumpsters is not relatable. Competition, hate, rivalry, jealousy, and greed are relatable and common. Take the basic ideas and build off them using the character traits of the people involved. Yes, preach on brother Parka!

Yes I'm pretty sure this as well has to do with screwing with Austin. Wheras Jericho and Trish realized they liked each other....maybe X will realize he likes Lita...but she doesn't like him...oh god....I'm thinking like them now......someone shoot me.... Didn't we see this exact same Trish/Lita feud before? With the Hardy Boyz? Wasn't it shit?

Epic, classic, heated feuds are what people want to see. The fans are not morons, and do not want to be insulted by having pure shit given to them on their TV screen. The PROBLEM with WWE is that they are trying too hard to come up with wild and wacky ideas for short terms feuds. That bullshit doesn't work, and history has proven that time and time again. Just about ALL great feuds, both past and present, have many things in commen, it doesn't take a moron to realize this.
