Thanks for the info, man.

Thats whats confusing, the claim its a sequal/prequal to DOTD, yet its not endorsed by Romero at all. There's got to be some tie-in here (at least character-timeline wise), or else I'm gonna be pretty pissed. Watching this tonite, I'll definately post thoughts after....

Damn I cant believe Wal Mart has the Deluxe BB version for only $16? Thats a strong step down from Best Buy's $22.99 I paid for it unfortunately earlier today. Big question I have is where is the best deal around to get the Batman Box Set? Best Buy had a shitty deal on it and I havent seen much else around otherwise on it.
-
Too late, I already bought the damn thing. Anything else worth mentioning about it, I guess my main thing is does it actually play into the first DOTD at all or is this a sequal that really isnt?

How the hell did a ppv built around JBL and Kurt Angle bashing ecw honor the legacy of ecw in any way? The whole show was about them. Their arrival, their reaction to the show, and then their getting involved in the show by brawling with the ecw guys. If ecw was all about JBL and Kurt Angle then I must have watched a different ecw than you did. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ECW was all about standing up to the "big boys" and being defiant so in that respect, again, I dont see what the big deal was since the whole point of that was to have them get squashed by the ECW guys at the end of the show. Again, that was honoring their legacy, be it in a back asswards way, but it still was. I'll just say this much, as an ECW fan, and going into it not thinking it was going to overall be done right, I came out of it very satisfied as I think most in general did too.

I'm not sure where exactly they are going with that since as of the last report, Edge isnt even on the Raw team at Survivor Series against the SD guys. They might book another Edge/Hardy match at Survivor Series though, who knows.

Well considering the bloodshed in the last movie, not to mention the dark dirty feel of it overall, why wouldnt it be considered horror? I think I know what you mean but it's still goofy to make a statement like that. Although I agree that the first Saw was (unintentionally) hilarious at spots, and no effort was made to apparently even do a second take on some scenes with the way the acting was. They just came out with an uncut version of Saw today on DVD, by the way. Free ticket to Saw 2 in the package.

I don't see why anyone would care either way. ONS was nothing but a bunch of old ecw guys carrying out a wwe-style ppv. If the ecw guys can't go out there and be their old selves then what is the point? Heyman talked about a lucha style match, and a japan style match, and a hart dungeon style match, bullshit, it was all wwe "everyone wrestle the same exact way" style matches and that was not what ecw was about. Just let it die before hhh feels anymore threatened by it and does something even worse to the ecw legacy than this ppv already has. Any ppv that produces a Benoit-Guerrero match THAT bad really isn't worth revisiting anyway.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm missing it where the ONS ppv tarnished the ECW legacy AT ALL. If anything it honored the legacy of ECW and for pretty much any ECW fan, left them VERY satisfied as it was a unique night overall. Sure the matches should have/could have been better - and dont give me that "WWE style" shit - it was more that the guys were limited on time and as such, the matches werent as good as they should have been. The agents werent forcing the wrestlers to work a certain "WWE style". Plus Eddy was well known to have not been in a good mood for whatever reason and basically wasnt cooperating in that match as well as he should have been. With that said, this might be worth a whole new thread, but I dont think WWE will give the show any sort of justice whatsover a second time. Plus Heyman will likely be gone by next June. Overall its just a bad idea to revisit a second time with the politics involved right now (the stranglehold on ECW talent not employed by WWE, possibly no Heyman, backlash from WWE on the effects/aftermath of the first ONS, etc).
-
That may have been a different time he was offered a job. I know there was no notice in the Observer about him turning the offer down as the third man as it was more that politics played a part in the company reconsidering it's thought on Styles.

My guess would be New Year's Revolution. Wouldnt be surprised to see the final number even a little more than this projection at this rate.

FLAWS?! This movie was boring, and had the worst script writing I have ever seen. There was so much potential in this movie and after a third of the way through it tanked. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Totally disagree with you here. It had a nice methodical pace that lead just about perfect to the confrontation between Harris and Co. and Viggo and Co. at the house. Now from that point on, yes it did kind of drag but overall it was still a very unique and enjoyable film. To say it has to worst script writing you've ever seen is ridiculous. Speaking of ridiculous, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but had a free ticket to the Fog and actually enjoyed that movie immensily over the weekend. I was a huge fan of the original, and it was good to see Carpenter still attached to the remake. Essentially the good parts of the original were emphasized here behind a backdrop of some new storylines implimented. The ending was fucking stupid but the rest of the movie was way better than I expected.

Needless to say, I am completely dumbfounded from last night. Not only do they book a match for Austin, but Foley as well with only 2 weeks devoted to build this next ppv. It's like they have forgotten about building it until just last night and all of a sudden its hyper build mode. Having either Austin or Foley doing a match with so little build, not to mention having Foley return with so little point to it is just plain bad business on Vince's part and both Austin and Foley as well. I guess I can accept the Austin thing a little bit since it's playing into a current angle they are going to seemingly go full tilt with, and Austin isnt really necessarily "active again" as a wrestler, as that "match" is moreless going to be Coach bumping bad for Austin and thats about it, much like Bischoff did a few years ago. It's almost more like an angle than an actual match. With Foley though, there is no excuse for hotshotting his return so apathetically like that, it's pure idiocy at it's finest. I'm sure they hit the panic button on Taboo Tuesday since 1) the last two ppvs probably will end up drawing the lowest buyrates in years and 2) last years Taboo Tuesday did something horrible of a buyrate itself. But if you are going to load up a card, at least do it with enough time to build it up, meaning more than a month in the very least. Again this is moreless pertaining to the Foley/Carlito thing, which came out of nowhere. As far as the show itself, it was abysmal to hear Coach as the lead announcer. When is Vince going to get that this guy is not even interesting in any capacity? The Xpac heat was totally there when Vince introduced him. Part of me hoped they would have brought in Joey Styles for a while to be with Lawler and Coach in the interim, and then when Ross returns, get Coach out of the announcing. Apparently Styles was going to be the third man on the team months ago instead of Coach, but someone in the company made a power play to keep Styles out of there in fear of backlash from people in the company (this was covered in the Observer this week). The matches themselves were all pretty weak. HBK tried with Carlito but it just didnt click. Give them credit for trying to do something strong with Taboo Tuesday, and dare I say now with the lineup I might throw down some funds on it. It just seems too much too late, but we'll see since there is still two shows to build things up. The Flair promo was fucking great and probably the highlight of the show. Also, Austin seemed in rare form last night as that was the first time I enjoyed a segment from him in years.

If WWE gets the Chuckey mini from AAA, I'm all for this That guy has the weirdest movements for a mini I've ever seen. Overexuberant selling too.
-
I'll definately be getting it with a few friends, to save a few bucks overall. I would imagine the ppv will probably pull its best buyrate to date, though, with the well expanded audience watching Impact on Spike. Over a million viewers a week v. only about 200,000-300,000 on FSN is a big difference and should translate to something probably not groundbreaking but decent enough.

Even though I am going to get the show, that match itself is most definately decreases my overall interest in the show. Having that match on the lineup immediately makes me care less in this supposed WrestleMania of TNA less than most of their other ppvs this year. Sad but true. To be perfectly honest, even with some solid undercard matches, overall I dont think TNA has really done a top notch job with this lineup for the ppv, considering this is supposed to be their big show and their angles from x number of months past dont exactly all lead here. I just wish they would have done Raven v. Jarrett here as that has at least been somewhat built up here and there in months past. Of course though I am not going to complain about Joe v. Liger though. I guess to me this ppv seems more than anything like a redux of certain matches that TNA thinks "worked" from ppvs past - IE another Ultimate X match with the usual suspects, another Ironman match w/ Daniels and Styles, another Ortiz as ref appearance, another Jarrett-Nash match, another Monsters Ball match, etc. I guess I was hoping for a little more creativity myself....

I thought that funeral segment was different and good to see TNA try some things like that once in awhile to help expand some needed character development. The tongue in cheek references to things were well done and in general it seemed to accomplish its task of explaining the AMW turn more than anything. I think some here are totally overanalyzing the segment to the point where its ridiculous but to each their own. If you didnt enjoy it, I guess thats just how it is. Otherwise the show as a whole was not too bad. They are forced to cram so much into an hour though that it makes it hard for it to all make sense after you watch it, but it still is a fun hour to sit through. The production now is so good though on a side note, and honestly I think Spike needs to seriously consider trying TNA out on Monday nights soon. Judging by the last 3 shows and how much they try to fit in with an hour, TNA is in serious need of a second hour to either make some of the matches a tad longer and/or just get the storylines and angles over more.

I dont think anyone really has a vendetta against WWE particularly, as this is a bad representation of the Torch site. While I think the Torch could do much better, to say they "suck up" to TNA is illogical and unwarranted. I guess you can't say anything positive about either WWE or TNA without being categorized "biased" by your view? If you really think that about the Observer, you must not even subscribe to the newsletter. That's not even close to how they represent the coverage of the promotion. So I guess everyone sucks huh? Oh by the way though, TNA would be absolutely stupid to even mention Jim Ross' name in passing, unless they are in the midst of signing him at a later date.

Got the 3 pack in the mail today, no problems this time with loose discs in the boxes. Watched Victory Road so far, definately worth it to throw $20 down on this set.

This sounds like a work here to try to turn Raven back to a heel (which I think is a bad idea, by the way). Otherwise, these reports of Raven having no problem dropping the title seem very contradictory to his behaviour lately. Hell, if I was him I'd be pissed too - he drops the belt and now is now virtually off TV and more importantly, there has been ZERO follow up with Raven/Jarrett or even Raven/AMW. Something isnt right there and part of me thinks it might not be a work at all when you consider the lack of logic in not at least teasing Raven/Jarrett for a future matchup.

When/if someone gets the DVDs from FYE and can let us know whats on the bonus disc(s), that would be great.
-
Results here sound great and its good to see TNA at least making an effort to making the Spike show more newsworthy and full of things. While the show as a whole is going to feel rushed week by week with so many angles, workers, and such trying to all get over, its still nice to see them try to do a 2 hour show in theory into one hour versus treating it the other way around.
-
Good to hear they are all working, I should be getting my second round soon - we'll see what happens. Almost picked up Best of X Division Vol 1 from Best Buy, can anyone suggest a yay or nay on it?
-
I'll be crossing my fingers for ya! I ordered them again so hopefully the second time they wont be all scratched......

Highly doubtful little, if any, actually watched the first run show on Sat and the replay both, so all things considered, a .8 and then a .5 on a replay showing is pretty damn good anyway you slice it. Thats basically over a million checking out the first show. Between this and Best Buy now getting TNA DVDs (just saw them today) and probably more licensing in the marketplace down the road, TNA has a right to be very hopeful right now. Now is the time to turn up the creative up ten notches (which I think they have the talent in booking to do) and things could really take off here within years end for TNA.
