Ugh, 13 weeks really isnt a real long time to try to get a substantial rating like that, I have to say. We're talking only 3 months, so by years end they could be back at square one? That whole deal sounds much more unattractive now after reading the Torch report.
-
Yeah, that was quite the shitpile of a sequal, thats for sure. Almost everyone couldnt act in that movie, they made even Dennis Hopper lame.
-
So is there any word WHERE London is currently? Is he injured or is he just given the "nothing for him to do" line?
-
I'm with the consensus that this guy has something to go with for a future. He's got great mic skills obviously, and a solid moveset for a WWE guy. Looking forward to seeing what they can do with him down the road. Not quite getting why he says "Kennedy" twice though - that will get annoying. Maybe thats the point though.
-
If that was really how a London/Vince conversation about this went, that is REALLY sad. Not only is banning those top rope moves a complete and utter joke (because accidents happen - why not just not let Juvi do those two moves instead of ALL?) but a complete mistake anyway you look at it. Plus Vince saying the title means nothing to him - well if thats the case why not just release all of the cruiserweights and let them shine in TNA or ROH? It amazes me that after reading this shit, that Knoble and Spanky have resigned. It sounds like the division is at a worse spot than it was when they were there before. For example, Juvi should and could be a viable contender to the CW title and Crazy/Psicosis could go in between CW matches and as contenders to the tag titles. Instead we get Nunzio squashes on Velocity. Yay.

Dude, seriously get off your own blindness about the Jarrett thing. If you have followed the product at all lately, you'd see Rhino isnt even associated with Jarrett anymore. So they saw putting Rhino with Jarrett was a bad move, they changed it up and actually even created some heat between Rhino and Jarrett at the last ppv in an interview and during the post-match. Not that I expect a feud between them but they're booking it now that Rhino is his own man. Furthermore, how many times do I have to say it. Jarrett isnt even a focal point of the company at all anymore. If you would say this stuff 6 months ago I would completely agree with you but the landscape of the company is going in a completely different direction now and has been doing so since May. So just flat out assuming that once a new guys comes in, they are either going to be paired off or jobbing to Jarrett, you are just showing a lack of understanding of the full spectrum of the product currently. Again, if you have watched the product consistently lately, I think you'd see its a very viable product and a clear competitive alternative to WWE WHEN they get on a national TV outlet and other avenues of national recognition appear, such as the DVD deal, possible cross promotion on UFC shows, etc. They have a booking team that 9 out of 10 segments or matches, know what the fuck they are doing. This was not the case clearly when Rhodes, Jarrett, Mantel, etc was under the book.

Ultimately a name of a ppv isnt going to make it less or more attractive to prospective ppv buyers, if you ask me. So with that said, Slammiversary is just fine, as is every other name. The main thing behind their ppv schedule is that they need at least a handful of the ppvs to have a concept behind them that makes them unique and not "just another show." This is a reason why Lockdown is, actually, a very good example of a show to keep and build to each year, sans with Slammiversary, and perhaps Destination X as well, to emphasize a focus that night on the X division - with perhaps the Ultimate X match only done once a year and on that show. For what its worth, I think keeping Lockdown at a yearly ppv isnt a bad idea at all, but they could just change it up a little bit and instead of an all cage match ppv, make the main event every year something to the effect of the three tiered cage that WCW used to do - so their Hell in a Cell or something of sorts. Be creative and come up with a new concept for a cage match. While I wasnt blown away by last years LD ppv, it certainly could have been much worse and I think there is a solid chance that the booking committee right now, if they are still in tact by then, could put out a really interesting show. I always thought a ladder/cage match might be very cool, and thats one idea they could try implimenting next year.

Umm Rhino never got pinned by Jarrett and I'm so sick of the argument that if someone new comes in, they get jobbed out by Jarrett and thats that. It's already been explained why that is likely NOT to happen anymore after the Carters allowed the Jarrett experiment to continue for a certain amount of time and have now all but virtually given up on Jeff. While Rhino's intial appearance in TNA, aligned with Jarrett, was weak, to their credit they have put him over Raven in that tag match on the last ppv and made him a very viable world title contender. So much he's getting pops versus heel heat. Being "content" wit the way TNA is now is not the same as being a contender to WWE. Right now they can't be a contender without being on national TV clearance, but with or without a guy like Jericho, the heat is going to be on come Oct 1. So basically TNA is doing a good job right now just fine, but they need to keep on that momentum with signing up some significant names in a dire time in their company history. Guys like the Dudleys, Jericho, etc, would all add to an already viable and different product compared to WWE, IMO.
-
Ummm they are going to start on Spike in October, I dont think they are going anywhere for quite some time. All of this talk of TNA being "unstable" at this point is unwarranted, since they now got a national TV deal, national DVD deal, etc.
-
Just like Jericho putting an mock image of him and TNA's logo, playing off the storyline. Jericho's returning only to WWE. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> AGAIN though, I ask - if you think they are just playing into a storyline (and if this is a storyline, a very stupid one at that), why is Jericho (and I assume WWE) giving TNA free publicity by this? That argument just makes no sense, especially when you consider how really Jericho and WWE don't particularly care to cater to the IWC. If anything, like Porter said, it might be Jericho just getting a gauge of fan response if he WERE to go to TNA - just to see what fans would think about the possibility.
-
I think it's at least a very strong argument that Jarrett's pull in TNA currently is very minimal, so I dont think the politics if Jericho were to come in would be very strong against him. In fact I wouldnt be surprised to see Jarrett out of the company by years' end. The Carters have appeared at face value to have learned from their mistakes with Jeff (and some may say Jerry also) and have tried to move on, but understand Jeff is still worth keeping in an upper card situation in a respectable role.
-
The fact of the matter that WWE doesnt believe Jericho can be a major player and a role in TNA from him wouldn't affect them in a competitive war should be enough ammo for Jericho to at least consider TNA. I think that it's pretty shitty of them to think that of him, as I feel he could be as much of a big time player as Hardy was planned to be in TNA and apparently WWE was concerned enough about Hardy bringing TNA to a new level of competitiveness that they scooped him back up.
-
Ok that could very well be the case. Thats the only legit reason I could see this happening other than it, well you know, happening for real.
-
That's kind of what I thought too - he could have resigned and as part of it, WWE allows him to take a few months off for the Fozzy stuff, etc. But by that token, he then is required to return. It made no sense why he never re-signed really. Plus the way he was treated on Monday on his way out, seemed very much to me like a burial of sorts, like they arent expecting him back or at very best are unsure. Kind of sounds like a Lex Luger type deal where he told the company not to worry about it, he'll be fine without being under a contract and wont pull any fast moves, but now here it is and there is stuff like this ON HIS OWN WEBSITE. If I'm getting worked, so be it, but I've never seen someone pull something like this on their website. Comparing this to the Hardy thing is irrelevant, they are two different deals - and I think Matt DID intend to go to TNA up until Vince finally called him, and then he did publicly back away after that happened. Again, there is no real legitimate reason for Jericho or the website to work everyone to think he's going to TNA. That only helps TNA, hurts WWE, and ultimately does nothing to help or hurt Jericho as a whole.
-
In reference to Porters post...... But again, how does that help 1) Jericho or 2) his current or future status, be it WWE, TNA, etc? It just doesnt make sense to do pull a work and have that on his site for just "shits and giggles" to me. I just went to the site and someone, even before that picture was posted, "claimed" that Jericho himself told him/her that he signed with them already.
-
Not sure what Dana White would think of a cross-promotional idea, since he doesnt want wrestling particularly associated with the UFC, plus if TNA is involved with Ortiz, there is some legitimate hatred with White and Ortiz right now. So basically if this happens its TNA and Spike working against the UFC in trying to tie in programming to them likely.
-
How is that clearly a work? What would Jericho get out of teasing a TNA appearance? This has definately perked my interest....I guess I'll be the first one to say it but has Jericho had intentions of signing with TNA for awhile now and was just waiting til he got the chance?

Kazarian quit WWE about two weeks ago. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know he did, I'm talking about London.
-
Velocity looks good again this week, damn I'm almost going to miss that show when it ends in about a month. So Kazarian beat London and we havent heard from him since? Whats that about? There has got to be some political issue there. Smackdown looks ok but there is not the best structure on the show right now. I guess I expected some more closure and movement from the SummerSlam feuds into new ones this week, but it didnt come off that way at all. But hey, at least Jordan will likely get fired by JBL soon after a burial like that in the main event. Couldnt happen to a crappier worker! Building JBL-Batista 3 as the main event of the first Friday Smackdown just shows how out of it this writing team on the show is right now. That wont certainly draw, nor should another match with them be even happening since Bradshaw moreless got squashed at SummerSlam. How about Taker-Batista instead? That might at least have a chance of drawing some interest from the masses. I still dont get why some people are thinking Eddy was hurt by the feud with Rey - I think it got him more over as a heel with the things he did, and especially during the last few big matches, he dominated Rey almost from start to finish. He was protected really strong even though he would lose those matches. This is an instance where I agree with WWE writing in that wins and losses really dont matter as long as the person doesnt look like shit in losing. Ken Anderson's name was changed to Kennedy because Vince is rumored to really like the character himself and thus gave him his middle name.

Thought I'd post about it since I'm looking forward to the show quite a bit to see what they will be doing to build to the next ppv, which is right around the corner. Offical preview from WWE.com Just one day after SummerSlam, there’s no telling what kind of fireworks will be seen on RAW. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will be Carlito's guest on the Cabana, which will be an unpredictable event, to say the least. Clearly, there should be plenty going down one day after an incredible SummerSlam 2005. You also won’t want to miss Ashley in her first full Monday night as a RAW Diva! Tune in to Spike TV at 9/8 CT for all this and more! -----Flair returning begs the question how long it will be before HHH returns. Rumors about HHH and Flair returning on the first Raw on USA seem to be invalid if Flair is already back. Here's hoping for a HBK/HHH alliance against Hogan tonight. I also expect nothing except a public burial of Hardy during a SummerSlam recap of that match.
-
That very well might be whats happening. I know TNA was offering Hardy something pretty high for a contract so maybe Vince did really have to throw down a huge offer back to him. That would possibly explain some of this shit lately. Almost like a situation, for example - Mark Henry, but blatantly misused a million times more.
-
Jesus christ, whoever does these press releases needs to take a technical writing class or something, it makes them look SO bad when you put out something like this. I could write a better release than this back when I was 10 years old. Anyway, this is certainly interesting news but I dont know if it's necessarily true. When I see some official word from ESPN, then I'll start believing. If true, one has to assume they had to pay a TON to get a weekly show on the channel. Time will tell on this but another interesting facet is the talk about moving production for the show to Orlando? That CANT just be coincidence since this group has been battling TNA to a degree, or at least the assumption is they will be now. Whatever the case alot of shady talk in this release, so it could still be a complete joke and nothing but talk.
-
Well it's definately true that Hogan has creative control in his contract, I guess. That is very surprising that Vince would let him have that, after all of the BS from the past. I always figured the creative control shit Hogan was talking about in interviews was just Hogan talk....guess not. This could be something that is going to become a problem in due time. Either Hogan is going to just have to wrestle guys who can afford a loss or else it's going to be hard to do business with Hogan in the future. I can already see problems with a proposed Austin/Hogan match at Mania regarding this. I dont know if this report said the whole story, but Keller reported in the Torch this week that there is rumors that Hogan was "allowed" the win on his terms in return for putting over Cena clean on or before Mania 22. Not sure if thats true or not though. Just what he reported as speculation of sorts. Best for business would have been Shawn going over at SummerSlam in a screwjob of sorts, then a gimmick match at Unforgiven or even play it out and wait until Survivor Series. Hogan is nothing short of a blinded mark for himself more than ever if he couldnt accept that proposed two-match series without him going over twice in a row.

Newspaper article on 101 Reasons not to be a Pro
RedJed replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
Oh, wow. So there's a new Terry Funk match on this release? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He is against Gypsy Joe and its quite the sight to see. Jack legitimately beats up this old man in, quite simply, an ass kicking. -
You're still stretching on this idea though is the point. Just because he's getting some cheers at SummerSlam doesnt mean he will be a draw. Its wishful thinking but delusional if you think its just "this easy." Plus the point as well is there are alot of others on the roster who would deserve a Rumble win and a main event push to Mania than Jericho at this point too. And thats not me saying Jericho sucks or anything, its just that it hasnt been built up properly and would take more than just a Rumble win to do so. He'd have to be in main events pretty consistently beforehand, like we're talking numerous months in the very least. They gave him the undisputed belt(s), he beat Austin and Rock TWICE in a matter of two months, and he STILL wasnt credible (yes, I know the booking sucked too). So how do you think it would be different this time? And for what its worth, I thought Jericho could have also been used alot WORSE in the buildup v. Cena. In fact I thought it was pretty well done. If anything the person coming out of the buildup looking like shit was Carlito.
