It's going to be a total schmoz, has to be.

Jon Voight is the main villian of the season? What's his role supposed to be?
-
I tend to agree, but if they are at least going to have him be the Krueger character before the fire and his "death" that is better than nothing. I'm very interested to see how they will make the new burned up dream master Freddy look cosmetically, that is for sure. I just read they have a writer and director attached now. Production is supposed to start sometime in the spring, I would think late spring at this point. The writer was the same guy who did Arachnaphobia and Doom (ugh) which begs the question.......what the fuck? He has no experience in horror at all. As for the director, I guess his only claim to fame is directing music videos, including Smells Like Teen Spirit. Again, ZERO experience with horror. Not convinced this Elm Street reboot is going to be as promising as Friday the 13th turned out at this point.

What's up old friend? This very well might happen, meaning Orton goes over HHH at least. HHH, to be fair to him, is expected to be the go-to guy who does the smart thing for the business when a guy is hot and put him over properly, and Orton is literally firing on all cylanders right now. However, the problem is that HHH (as well as Cena) basically put him over at last year's Mania soooo.....well, you know.....

A better idea to me would be to just do a fatal four way elimination match (ala Mania 2000) between Cena/Orton/Edge/HHH and the winner is the unified champion. There could be interesting storylines between each guys in the match, past and present. Orton/Edge used to be a tag team, Cena/HHH have a history, Orton/Cena obviously have a story to tell, etc. -

Yeah, good to hear that won't be at Mania, then. -

Very true.....I wonder if they actually may go real crazy and throw out ten spots for MITB this year. In that case, I'd add Kofi, Bourne, Kendrick, Truth, and probably Kane to the match other than the names I had before. I really don't know what to think about the thought of Swagger/Christian saved for Mania. I just can't see them holding that for six weeks.....but then again, what else do they have to even throw out there for the ECW title other than that? I would much rather see Swagger/MVP or something like that, and as I mentioned before, throw Christian into the MITB mix. -
Kind of dissapointed they haven't done a "signature/deluxe release" or anything of a few Manias from the past that were really significant to lead to this one coming up. Remember two years back when they released WrestleMania III as a special edition DVD (had some extras, etc) to coincide with Mania 23 from Detroit (ie 20th Anniversary)? I wish we could get that again, in some way, shape or form. Re-release Mania 17, since that was in Houston as well. I also wouldn't mind an amped up version of older Manias like 1, 10, etc. WWE should really think about doing this, since I think alot of die-hard fans would double-dip on seperate Mania releases from way back when, even if they got the box set with all of the Manias there.

So I'm just throwing this out there.......since this one is going to be a huge success for New Line and PD, it's probably inevitable they will do another one. Unless its the same writers involved, I fear the worst, given how decent the TCM remake was, and how f'n awful the prequel/sequel to that was. So IF they do another one (and the cool thing would be that it would be Friday number 13, which would be fitting to perhaps completely end the series) where do you go with it? It's clear So they gotta be thinking something up already, one would think. I'd say what they should do is attempt to do something very similar to this to the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, "reboot" it but don't do a straight remake of the original, tie it in so it can reestablish Krueger to a new audience, yet still keeping the old audience interested by fusing elements of past Elm Street films into this one to almost create a new sequel out of it. An idea off the top of my head would be to have the main teen in the new Elm Street be a child of one of the survivors of a previous Elm Street film, like perhaps Alice's kid from Part 4/5. Or Freddy's daughter's kid from Freddy's Dead, thus Krueger would be chasing his own niece or nephew essentially. So lets say they do that, and the new Elm Street is as much as a hit as the new Friday appears to be here. I'd just say lets go ahead and finish it off for good with another Freddy v. Jason.

Who IS the Vice President anyway? It's not the old man sidekick that keeps trying to override her on everything, is it? I thought he was secretary of defense or something like that. Honestly, I think at this point it would be more of a swerve that nobody in the presidential cabinet is corrupt than retreading the same shit, different day. Too many times there has been enemies within the upper echelon of the government on this show, and considering that they have seemed to pinpoint that the FBI itself is the problem in this whole thing with their mole, I hope it's just a case closed.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

Any thoughts on who will all be in MITB? I'm thinking they may slim down the number this year and only do five total guys in it. Both mid-level champs get a spot, as well as few returning guys who have MITB experience, and then Rey, who really should be placed in somewhere like this from his great showing at No Way Out. Thus... Rey v. Kennedy v. Christian v. Punk v. Benjamin The "sides" would be about at par with each other since you have two Raw guys, two Smackdown, and one ECW guy there. ---------- How about tag matches, specifically for the tag titles? Is it finally the time where the belts become dissolved into one? Otherwise, I'm drawing a blank on how you would use either tag champions into the card effectively. So I'm hoping they just go with Miz/Morrison v. Colons and call it a day with that. Diddo with the women's titles. Just have a merging of the two since there is no real advantage in doubling up women's belts on both shows, if you ask me. Then again, I've been hoping this would happen for years now around this time (particularly with merging the tag belts) and it never happens so it probably won't now. -

That's a joke.......they could at least have fantasy booked a better opponent for Edge. Although I do think there would be huge money in an Austin or Hogan/Cena Mania match, reminscent to Hogan/Rock from 18. -
Yeah, I wasn't very impressed with the return episode either.

It's on the Universal channel on the weekends, but you need HD. Otherwise, there are torrents of the show around the net in no time, probably tomorrow or late tonight.

That was a strong ending, although a horribly weird way to get there. I didn't get the idea of needing to put Shane over anymore than what offense he was given last night. It was extremely hard to even grasp from a suspending disbelief deal as well considering he was in and out of consciousness last night. But they did get the punt angle in, which seemed to be inevitable. And then the RKO to Steph took it another notch, so I can at least understand why they waited to do the angle, so both Shane and Steph would be taken out at the same time, seemed more effective that way. It just seemed retarded to have Shane kicking the shit out of Orton like he was, though. HHH's run-in was effective and the fans popped for the final tip of the hat to them regarding the whole off screen HHH in the family thing. Still not sold on Orton/HHH for Mania, but the angle there was good at the end. I just can't see them doing 6 weeks of build to this properly since it seemed to have peaked here. Cena/Edge.....here is another match that is just kind of solid enough sounding on paper (much like Orton/HHH) but I just really think Mania 25 should have more than these rehashed programs, albeit significant ones in the past. But in either case, nobody has really been screaming that we have to see one last match with Cena/Edge or Orton/HHH, much less for the belts. The opening segment with these two didn't particularly draw me into another potential match between them as much as they did with HHH/Orton at the end of the show. Both Cena and Edge could be and should be doing so much more at Mania, although don't ask me what really. Just seems dumb that we get to a point of Mania and they fall back on Cena/Edge again, just is kind of "eh" without the really compelling reasoning or storyline attached. As strange as this may sound, they may want to consider doing a fatal four way of Cena/HHH/Orton/Edge with both titles on the line to make this a bit more intriging for Mania. Winner becomes unified champ. I see potential in having Steph back HHH against Vicki and Edge in some storyline at some point from the beginning of the show here too, with Vicki admitting she took over "power" of the WHC match with all the Raw guys on it, since Steph left the arena. I could see a stupid dominant female angle between the two, especially since they are both the GMs of each brand. The Piper promo on Jericho was excellent, and another highlight of the night. I still think this is just leading to Rourke against Jericho, but we'll see. It could very well lead to Austin coming back and working with Jericho at Mania (w/ Flair, Piper, and Rourke in his corner) since Orton particularly is booked otherwise. Austin is scheduled for next week, IIRC, although they aren't announcing it ahead of time (I think it was in this week's Observer). So this makes sense. The rest of the show kind of dragged on in spots, but Rey looked good in there with Knox. I'm betting he will be one of the guys in MITB, probably throw Punk, Kennedy, Benjamin, Even Bourne, MVP, etc, and that will work.

What is the future of TV and Movies?
RedJed replied to YourKock'sReallyGreat's topic in Television & Film
DLP Technology allowed for 3-D viewing with goggles but apparently DLP is now pretty much dead. 3-D HD is however the future of HD for home viewing and it will be much better than 3-d home releases so far.. How is DLP dead? Isn't that what continues to be the push into theaters, so they are compliant with not just digital projection, but for 3D movies, events, etc? -
No. They are not going to be unifying their World Championships. How many times do we have to go through this? There has been talk about it in the last 6 months or so actually, so don't dismiss it. Torch, Observer, etc, all have reported on it. They are starting to think that bringing back the idea of the champion who will be on both Smackdown and Raw brands is worth going back to possibly. Considering they didn't even give it a years time to take off back in 02, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen, especially if it's all leading to HHH being that guy.

What is the future of TV and Movies?
RedJed replied to YourKock'sReallyGreat's topic in Television & Film
As soon as I read the title of the thread, the answer to the question, to me, is more 3-D technology to make TV and movies stand out more, as time progresses, but I think that's not the point of the thread. There is something to be said on the emergence of better 3-D technology, though. More films will be done in 3-D and already this coming Christmas, there will apparently be "3D enabled TVs" or something. -
Yeah, someone else commented on the quality of the Blu-Ray Friday the 13th uncut.........wow, just amazing picture, and particularly, the sound was off the charts. Missed what exactly constituted that as "uncut" but all the same, great stuff. Part 2 (which was released as a deluxe edition on DVD) was definately upgraded as well in terms of audio/picture quality. Also, watched the 3D version of Part 3, and wow, some really hit or miss stuff there, think I need to check it out on a different TV or something, as I was still seeing alot of double vision in spots versus what should be actual 3D stuff popping out, if that makes any sense. As for the new remake, holy shit consider me totally impressed by it. Like alot have said, it felt more like a literal sequal versus a "startover" or whatnot. My mind was kind of telling me this was set after Freddy v. Jason somehow......Jason just becomes this recluse soul living in the woods and everyone is too afraid to even come close anymore, they just let him be since killing him never seems to work. Platinum Dunes totally impressed me here, and not sure what made the difference versus the other times they have bombed so bad on horror remakes. Having Sean Cuttingham a part of this was probably huge, as is the writers being the same from Freddy v. Jason.

Yeah, although it might be doing too bad even for Friday nights. Rumour has it, after the disasterous rating for Friday, Fox might just not show the rest of the episodes, and put prison break in that spot, and try to salvage Dollhouse. Prison Break isn't coming back until April, though. And it is already supposed to be placed in the Terminator spot when all the episodes are aired of it. Yeah, but I meant they might push it up, to help dollhouse. Considering Prison Break is already announced as being cancelled once they fill out their run of episodes, I doubt they will do it. Ultimately, Friday nights are damn near impossible to pop a decent rating for anything, so dare I say Fox almost may have expected SCC to dip down a bit in the ratings when they moved it. I sure as shit know they didn't really push a ton of advertising for the move.....if it wasn't automatically recorded on my DVR, I would have totally missed it.
-
The initial report doesnt really make sense because, in going by storyline terms, I don't think that just because Edge has the WHC, that means he is automatically a Raw guy. So how can they trade a guy who they don't have in the first place?
-
He just sold like a champ. Really interested to see how they address the two champs on Smackdown thing tonight.

That was a great match and storyline swerve with Edge getting the other belt back. Could this be HHH/Edge in a unification match then at Mania? Otherwise, quite frankly, I think Rey/Edge for the WHC would be great. HHH/Orton would then be the WWE title match and it's starting to look like that is what will happen there, which would leave Cena open for.....all that would even make a lick of sense is Austin or something big like that. Honestly, HHH/Orton, Rey/Edge, Taker/HBK, Jericho/Rourke, and Cena/Austin being the top five matches at Mania would be pretty good on paper. Solid enough show for sure, the first two matches were given a hell of a lot of time and I think they were both very solid stuff and the main event EC match was even better than those two. The ECW title match and HBK/JBL, though, were very standard.
-
That was a pretty standard match, in fact VERY standard.
