http://www.pwtorch.com/artman/publish/article_13333.shtml Well, thank God! I was worried the Jarretts might lose their influence. Thankfully, if this goes through, we'll have more Jeff than ever. I hope you are being sarcastic! Anyway interesting to hear that Panda owns 71% of TNA stock. That right there shows who really has the influence in the company, when they put their foot down. Alot of people may have always said Jeff and/or Jerry really runs this company, well I dont think that's really the case more than Panda has ALLOWED them to run it. The Jarretts are already wasting no time in finding new alliances to get back their power within the company, no surprise really. To be honest, I would think if ever, Panda is going to stay right now. It would be foolish of them to pull out right now when the future looks brighter than ever for the company.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0361862/ You can lose a lot of weight, in fact god damn near anorexic and yet still not look like you're all burnt out from obvious drug usage. Case in point with Bale, IMO. Plus consider the quickness in how fast Lohan has gotten from point A to point B. That's the scary part of this since it just seemed that recently she looked just fine and now, bah....

If anything, when/if the Jarretts leave, it would be THEM walking out, not TNA letting them go. There wont ever be a time/day when they fire the Jarretts and I dont even think Panda has the power to. What it would entail if they walk away from the company is essentially the Jarretts probably running another company, which is a whole story in itself since Jeff has gone to bat for a lot of people and we may all be shocked on all from TNA who would actually walk from the job with the Jarretts if it came to it. I think everyone in the company knows that both Jeff and Jerry have put their 110 percent effort into the company in many ways, but it's more that they are having problems coming to terms that they can't completely control the company anymore (ie the people that are paying the bills are finally stepping in and saying, "Hey what the fuck is going on?") so they are getting frustrated and may not stand for it forever. Regarding anything even possible with a ROH/TNA working agreement, I think it would be interesting as hell to see it given the real life heat between the two sides, at least in the past. It would be perfect fodder for guys like CM Punk, Joe, and Danielson to come into TNA as well. Of course some of the ROH recruits would have to be put over TNA talent, (and to be fair, TNA guys would have to be put over ROH talent to make it work in both organizations) but the point would be that a guy like Punk would be contracted with BOTH ROH and TNA in reality, so its a non factor that you are "putting over outside talent" I could create a new thread for the possibilities between a ROH/TNA program, done in both organizations. All I know is that it would be tremendous in theory.

Yeah it would be mighty ironic if the last show of WWE's competition in the Monday Night Wars was outdoors and it begins again the same way....but yeah it probably wont happen.

That there lies the problem with doing ppvs every month for each brand and the difference sometimes between these midlevel shows and the "big 5". Good feuds like this can't really be blown off right away and I guess the company thought that a Guererro win this soon would cut the feud off at it's knees - I tend to agree with that thought as if Guererro finally got that win his whole supposed beef with Rey would be gone. Plus as part of the storyline, Eddy didnt even care about winning more than just hurting him. And most certainly Rey winning another match between the two would have been a bad move. I guess I would have had more of an issue with the finish too if this was the main event and ended the show. Now to me they could possibly main event the next SD brand ppv with a strong blowoff match between the two from this. This reminds me of the Eddy-JBL match from last Judgment Day and even that was a main event, yet I think it played just fine overall into the big picture. In very rare cases, DQ finishes can be acceptable I think but VERY rarely.

So I would guess she's having the kid and not, well ya know....... I doubt this is Pat Kenney's kid - from the news from months past, it sounds like she's been getting around the locker room quite a bit. If this is a product of a fling she did in fact have with Angle, yikes.
-
It was a PPV match. People don't buy PPV's to see DQ finishes. Normally I would agree, but I think the fact that there was a non-decisive finish here serves the program better long term and ultimately didnt really ruin the entire match as a whole. The finish and post-match beatdown just served to put more heat on Eddy as a strong heel and the sympathy to Rey even more.

If Jarrett didnt have ANY creative stroke I could handle him sticking around, as he has been able to carry some guys to decent matches and such. But if there is political in-fighting between him/Jerry and the committee, he'd be better off gone. This company does not have the time for anymore politics backstage.

Wow...so they'd be live from Universal on Monday. I kinda assumed they do like the old Raw schedule and tape the show the day after the live show, which would work in this instance. But if they don't make this official soon, they'll have trouble drawing a crowd for the first show, which would be terrible. Remember how empty the place looked for the Best Damned Wrestling Show when no one knew they were taping on a Wednesday? I'd hate to see that happen here. Thanks for posting the info though. Yea that is the exact plan. One week live and then the next day is taped for the next week, just like Raw was. They would do all shows from Universal, which in hindsight is ok for the time being but will get monotonous in due time, just as it has gotten for Impact. I hear ya about things maybe being weak for a crowd if they do their first show live next Monday, although I would bet the regulars would know. And I would hope TNA has done some mass marketing to their Orlando crowds so they have them on some mailing list or something. Something crazy but if Universal would agree to an outdoor show around the park IF WGN picks them up and this happens next Monday already, that would be cool. Thus people just walking around would check it out, etc.
-
Yeah, its from this weeks issue. He said that there is a chance the Tuesday taping would get cancelled, which then I would assume means moved to next Monday instead - for sure the first show will be live if they do this.
-
I thought MLW was great 99 percent of the time, as it had an ECW feel to it for sure. The booking wasnt mind blowing, but logical and helped give everyone in the company a solid role. It will be interesting to see what role he has exactly in creative and on what show too. This guy is probably a good compromise to what WWE seemingly is looking for in creative - a guy who has a wrestling background of sorts but yet is a hollywood writer as well.
-
For the interim, I definately want them on WGN though instead of FSN. Even though Impact has been ok lately, the formula of the show (especially the one hour format) sucks and needs to be changed up to add interest to the product. Two hours on Monday nights is perfect. Like I said having the Monday Night Wars back again (although admittedly this is not the same type of "war" than WCW v. WWF was, as TNA has a long ways to go before they will actually be able to compete with WWE being on WGN, if ever) will be great as it forces TNA's hand a little bit more to actually bust their ass creatively to TRY to compete. And then if they do get a deal with Spike TV, they could either have the show on both channels at the same time or else do a completely different show at a different time on Spike. So basically Spike is the long term goal post-October, but they need to do something now and this is the best short term idea idea til then with WGN since there is no way Spike would have them on immediately right now anyway.

The only person from the current cast that really bothers me is Maya Rudolph. How in the hell did this very unfunny lady get a job on SNL anyway? I hope they give her the ax this year.
-
Give me a break, does anyone truly believe someone can lose that much weight so quickly by just training for a role? It's gone beyond just losing weight and now its gotten to certainly looking unhealthy. Its a convenient excuse for her either eating disorder and/or drug use. I would tend to think it's more drug usage since I see paparazzi photos of her and such and she looks fuckin drugged out half of the time. For what its worth, I thought in more skits than not on SNL Lohan did still not look good at all, but at least she didnt appear drugged up looking. That intro skit she did kind of mocking the reports was very strange in a sense since I got the feeling she looked kind of uncomfortable there, but yet went with it probably from the suggestion of the writers to deflect critisism (much like the whole Paula Abdul thing). I would imagine her and Tina Fey got to be at least a little tight huh?
-
If its true, that could possibly be the greatest thing to ever happen for TNA. I think having all these new guys come to TNA would be freakin' awesome, but TNA has trained me to be suspicious that they won't get too far in the company before they have to eat a guitar shot, so I'm not gonna cheer just yet... Yeah I can't say I would complain if Jeff Jarrett was out of the company completely at this point although it would be kind of tragic since him and his dad were the ones who started this whole company. I'd hate to see Jerry goes, but from reports lately he seems to be blinded by what would be best described as being inside the family bubble, meaning he's taking his son's role in the company more prominently than the big picture of success for the company. When this whole TNA thing started years ago, Jerry was very outside of this bubble but it now appears that him and Jeff have some sort of alliance against most of the rest of the company in general terms.

Thought I would pass along some info from the Observer this week relating to this along with some thoughts/opinions. Impact's last show on FSN could possibly be this next Friday. This weekend is when their contract is done with FSN and if they want it to keep going, they have to renew for 6 months minimum at the same rate they are paying. TNA really doesnt want to do it obviously due to the fact that if they are contracted for 6 months and have to pay for it, it's just killing their overhead costs. They are trying to get an answer from Spike TV ASAP but if time runs out, it seems like they are a virtual lock for a WGN Monday night slot competiting head to head with Raw. In fact if everything goes the way its seeming to be (no renewal with FSN, no answer from Spike and a deal with WGN) there is talk that TNA might be head to head with Raw as soon as next Monday. If they go with Spike, they wouldnt start there til October at the earliest and then in that case, I would bet they might still go with WGN too. They seem very sour on FSN and I dont blame them since they are paying something like $30,000 per week to be on that station. I would assume there has to be some decisions made within the next day or two by TNA on all of this, as to be honest waiting this long to figure this stuff out is pretty bad business but understandable in a sense too since they can't force a desision by Spike TV, who they seem hovering on an answer from to base everything off of. My feelings is that they should just go with the WGN deal if its costing them less per week. WGN can't be any worse than FSN long term in my opinion although I think anyone thinking this is a huge step up for TNA is naive. It would make Mondays back like they used to be and maybe in due time, force a competitive spirit in each company. I would bet it would really force TNA's hand to turn it up a million notches creatively though right away, which is definately a plus and something they need to do anyway. They can continue to wait on Spike in the interim and always take a deal with them in due time if they express interest. If they would be on both Spike and WGN, that certainly would be ok. The only real strong negative about all of this is that ideally, when you would make a switch to another channel, the hope is that 1) the station would advertise such ahead of time and promote you pretty strong leading into it and 2) TNA itself would be given time to promote a move to a new channel as well. The way it is right now its going to be weird if Impact is done on FSN this week, as unless they promote it in this next show, nobody for casual fans are going to know of the major switch. So in that aspect, its almost like the FSN situation has them by the balls.

Amen to that - I had my reservations on a new committee as I thought the last Impact tapings Rhodes booked was pretty strong, but I think by that point Rhodes was all but done anyway and perhaps a lot of people from this committee were writing that too, or at least offering a ton of input to Rhodes. But yeah this was a fun show to watch, for once I didnt really fast forward ahead on my DVR on anything. Everything had purpose, guys were getting their characters some substance to them, and there was generally just alot of stuff happening.

I dont think hardly anyone could ever get as much color than Eddy's bladejob last Judgment Day. Blood was literally pouring out of his head from start of the gig to the finish of the match. I just saw that ppv over the weekend for the first time and that was one hell of a match. So with that said, Cena was really bleeding good but not leaking like a half on faucet like Guererro was. But still he had awesome color.

After checking out the crap that was last week's Smackdown live in Sioux City, IA, I wasn't sure if I should go to this show tonight but I did anyway. Turned out much better than I thought it was going to be. Crowd was pretty hot most of the night I thought, all of lower level and ringside was definitely sold out, and around 1/3 to 1/2 of the nosebleed section was filled, so I would say there had to be at least 80% capacity or so. No real off air notes to report really other than in somewhat of a surprise, a significant portion of the area I was sitting was not only cheering for Angle but at what his role has been in this rape angle. Most of these people were young guys like me though who I would guess are taking the storyline as a comedic value since they were laughing at the gutterslut lines, etc. Under that same breath, a mom and her young son had seats in front of me down at ringside and subsequentally left after the pretape before that match as I would assume she was really offended at it and didn't want her kid to be watching a match with that sort of buildup. Think about that - she spent $400 on two ringside seats and just walked out on them. On a side note, I'm really seeing WWE shows beginning to have more families attending more than ever since back in the late 80s. They need to take note of that and not book ridiculous stuff like the Booker/Angle storyline that just serves to turn those families completely away. You can still do hard edge storylines but things like this cross that line that I would bet turns more people off from the product than vice versa as a whole, especially those families with disposible incomes. Eddy got some tremendous heat live for the attack on Misterio. I thought that was a tremendous match and head and shoulders better than their Mania bout. Opener was way better than it had a right to be. I wish I had a picture to verify but I swear to god I thought Melina wasnt wearing anything under that short cut dress, but that couldnt have been the case, could it??!! I just swear I thought I saw a landing strip and nothing more when she did her splits into the ring. Cena was mad over and the crowd was very hot for that match even though a lot of us at ringside couldn't see what was going on due to the fighting near the entrance. But props to both him and JBL in having one fucking hell of a match that made it feel like Cena is definately here for the long run. I think that also elevated JBL too. Cena seems the most over I've seen a WWE face been since Austin or Rock and he is making a killing off the merchandise. The way that match went reminded me of how well a match with Austin/Foley at Over the Edge 98 was in that it was just an all out brawl basically from start to finish and never let up. That entire match, even the intros, just seemed big time and it made up for the lackluster treatment of their match at Mania. Heidenreich is also very over and I dont understand it. That match was once again hard to sit through and watch even though it was a little better than their last one (which I had to be tortured to sit through live last week in Sioux City) but most certainly still a complete waste of time. Heidenreich's offense in general, as well as his selling, it just awful and its accentuated even worse when seeing him live. Crowd seemed to groan at that finish too. All in all, definitely a thumbs up show with best match going to the main event, worst to of course Heidenreich/Jordan.

I sure as hell bet they would, its been awhile since I've seen recent CMLL on Galavision (AAA every f'n week) but he would be a top notch choice v. Daniels at a ppv down the road. Perfect fit to be in the X division. Liger would be fun too, (Ultimo Dragon would be great too as they have been talking to him as of late) as well as bringing in a guy like Danielson against Daniels would obvioulsly be a plus. I will be interesting to see what happens with the ROH/TNA relationship now that the Jarrett side of the company is starting to really lose power within the company. The fact of the matter is Meltzer is even speculating that there could be a major shakeup soon and the Jarretts maybe completely sever ties with TNA due to the power struggle. Wonder if they will do something again with CM Punk-Raven?

No - there is a current plan in tact for their WrestleMania of sorts to be in the fall. The Anniversary show is definately a big show they are trying to build, but not THE show.

I still have some small semblance of hope that Brown could still win the title at their big super duper ppv show which I think is planned for Sept if I recall correctly. If he turns quick here and is used strong til Sept and takes on Styles then, it could work. Of course the first step is having Brown over Jarrett convincingly in a program and that might be an impossible task. I hear ya about Hoyt, like I said in my other post, its just one of those deals where he is the Orlando crowds Hack Myers of sorts. I'm sure there is 3/4 of that TNA crowds there that are regulars to the shows so they will always go gah gah for Hoyt. Now if TNA ever ran any other shows anywhere else, I think we'd see a different reaction.
-
Hoyt is an acceptable midcarder and maybe someday somewhere even an upper level player if extremely used right, but never can be really be a main eventer, moonsault or not. There are tools missing like promo skills and in general, that intangible (charisma? uniqueness?) to connect with the fans completely. He's just the typical trademark guilty pleasure of the Orlando crowd- kind of like how the ECW fans in Philly treated Hack Myers back in the day. Or how ECW fans in general just loved Roadkill, who seemed a decent enough workers with a nice set of moves and spots that the fans fucking ate up, but certainly anyone thinking he could actually draw is delusional. With that said, looking forward to a Roode-Hoyt feud, as they can probably find a way to elevate both guys in their singles career from a program. Anyway the next two weeks of Impact certainly look acceptable. The ppv looks ok but I hope Damore doesnt blow his load in pushing the fuck out of Team Canada now that he is heading up creative. All of them are solid talents, but they need to be left as midcard fodder under the current lineup for the faction. Alot of other guys need work before those guys. Team Canada v. Naturals, nothing I am certainly creaming myself over. They need to just get on with it and turn either Gunn or BG James and team them back up. Neither guy prospers in singles and having them back as a team would add some freshness to the tag scene. Also, I think its a given at this point that they must be ready to turn AMW heel. 3LK v. AMW might be interesting. Sabin and Shane being shifted into feuding also with Daniels will make for a good match, and then when Shane and Sabin finish their feud, pencil in Sabin for a long term feud with Daniels. Skipper also will likely be in line for another shot at Daniels too. The X division stuff and in general, how Daniels has been used, has been tremendous lately. I have to be honest and say I am not very excited about Styles as champion and kind of didnt want him to win the belt at the ppv. Jarrett jobbing out the title at the Anniversary show would have made much more sense - to either Brown or Styles. I thought to build an almost year run as champ with Jarrett is foolish to at least not TRY and make it when he gets beat actually special. Instead this kind of came off as a whole as just kind of there, and although it was cool to have Ortiz involved, there was so real significant build to this match in the first place and I kind of thought to myself that this whole last year was pointless with Jarrett as champ if it just went back to Styles anyway. Not to say Styles isnt championship material but I thought a longer build for him to get the belt from whoever (I would have much done Brown beating Jarrett and then Brown jobs to Styles later in the year) would have been nice. For what its worth, their match on the ppv was ok and the last 5 minutes was very good, but the rest of the match seemed like the same old Jarrett-Styles stuff we've seen for a few years now. So now they are going to have a King of the Mountain match at the next ppv. Good idea but again I go to why Jarrett couldnt have jobbed out the title HERE instead. Having Jarrett up against a bunch of others would have sold the TNA fans who want to see the belt off Jarrett (which has to be 99 percent of us) more on the idea that he would have to be losing the belt here and you could have a handful of guys involved, so a finish would not be so predictable who would win the belt. Now as is I can't see anyone beating Styles in this, as it would be ridiculous to have Styles already job out the belt so fast, much like it seemed to be done last year around this time. Also it would have just added more of a logical storyline and irony to the world title picture that Jarrett would have won the title and then lost it in a King of the Mountain match. Dont get me wrong, I'm happy Jarrett isnt champ anymore, but I just think the execution to get it off him was so horribly done. They have spent month after month with reasonable opportunities to do it right and they didnt. The whole Monte Brown thing for example. So then when one of the only times come around where he shouldnt have lost the title, then they do it. Go figure.
-
Wonder why they changed up Carlito/Heidenreich to what the craptastic match ended up being with Jordan v. Heidenreich non-title. I cant believe they are putting that on ppv considering how bad the match was tonight. Speaking of Carlito, I dont think it got covered in the spoilers, but Matt Morgan is basically Carlito's bodyguard now. He took the role that Carlito offered last week to Big Show.
-
Where did you hear that? It would make sense due to what happened tonight (Heidenrich def. Jordan) but they never did any announcement of that live when they were running down the ppv lineup. Oh speaking of that, they also didnt run down London v. Chavo either when doing the lineup on the big screens - is that officially on for the ppv?
