  1. Went to the midnight showing with a heavy amount of my own kind of "pineapple express" and it was a pretty funny flick, definately catered to the tee to the stoner crowd. Surprisingly, they went heavy on actually trying to tell a story here about friendships, comrodery, and the like. A few times it came across awfully weird though (as in a little gay to be honest) but I think that ambiguousness was what they were going for in getting laughs. This would be a flick I could handle seeing again just because of the inside jokes all over the place, plus if the film was broken down, there was a good amount of parodys and homages to older movies that this one was pattered from at times.
  2. I'm sorry, but when a film makes 2/3 of the domestic box office record in 18 FUCKIN DAYS (blowing the previous record of how quick to gross such out of the water, Shrek 2, at 43 days it took it), I think its suffice to say that it's going to come closer than only getting another $100 million on top of what is already been accrued. It may be close at the end to the 600 million, but I think this film is probably going to be in most theaters, at least on one screen, for EASILY another 6 to 8 weeks, if not more. The legs on this film is incredible......I would think everyone recognizes this by now. And even when it finally leaves the first run theaters, it will probably get a second wind in second run "discount" theaters for a good long while. Granted, it wont pull a shit-ton of money in the second run theaters, but enough to keep the momentum going. And if this film gets any significant Oscar noms, I could see this also being re-released in IMAX theaters and other first-runs here and there as well near Feb/March of next year. I don't know if WB has even announced a date for DVD/BlueRay release, but if I were them, I think they could get away holding off on it until April of next year or something, considering how long I expect this to be around theaters. And I'm not even going to comment on the business this will do on DVD as well. I mean, shit, Dark Knight just made another six million yesterday......ON A MONDAY.....are you kidding me? I don't see either Thunder or Pineapple really cutting into the roll the film is on......Thunder may take number one, but still, that's not to say Dark Knight will still be pulling in respectable numbers even sticking in the top five for, who knows how long. This film averaging 20 million a week for the next 4-6 weeks isn't that far of a prediction if you ask me.
  3. Honestly, the only reason I'd like to see Favre come to the Vikes is because of the dynamic of the season's opening week matchup of the Vikings v. Packers in Green Bay. What makes that game interesting, besides the fact that Favre would be against the Pack right away in week one, consider that his jersey is to be retired that night as well. Huzzah!
  4. The idea of Santino and Phoenix as IC and Women's champions (and not necessarily in that order) just doesn't do much for me, James and Kofi are just doing fine as is, but are in dire need of strong opponents.......and Phoenix and Santino are not those. BETH PHOENIX isn't a strong opponent for Mickie? Wtf? That feud has been played out ad nauseum, it's time to move on, is what I mean. And giving Beth the belt back is just counterproductive, sans giving Santino the freakin women's belt as well.
  5. So we already know Dirt Sheet (w/Hardy and Henry) segment tonight, and Dreamer/Estrada. My guess for the two other segments is Finlay/Knox and Ortiz/Bourne against Chavo/Bam.
  6. I guess........and we now pretty much know the answer to the question "Is he dead or alive?" ---- I think he's referring to his old persona, the evil, psychotic, sadistic, type of guy Kane was back when he wore the mask. I dont think it has anything to do with Vince or Paul Bearer at this point. It's all a swerve though, and I'm sure next week he'll snap (probably Adamle summons some particular worker to try to take the bag, etc) and I'm assuming they will show whats in the bag (mask) and Kane will go onto probably putting it back on in due time here. I don't get the love for last night's show........granted, that 2 on 1 handicap match that was moreless a triple threat match was a solid 10 minute bout, but that finish was ridiculous. Did that really help ANYONE? I was actually hoping for a three way at the ppv instead of JBL/Punk, but whatever......it just opens up Punk/Jericho after SummerSlam more than likely. I just don't see what doing JBL/Punk again accomplishes when Punk beat him HIS FIRST NIGHT AS CHAMP. I would have found it much more interesting to have done Jericho/JBL/Punk, or even throw in a Regal and/or Kane into that match to really stack the odds against Punk (who would eventually overcome those odds, of course). I did like the Michaels promo though, smart way to do that storyline, and I guess Jericho will be on the ppv also, just in a non-wrestling capacity. The idea of Santino and Phoenix as IC and Women's champions (and not necessarily in that order) just doesn't do much for me, James and Kofi are just doing fine as is, but are in dire need of strong opponents.......and Phoenix and Santino are not those. The main event really annoyed me, I dont want to see this similar storyline that was done just a little over a year ago with Michaels and Cena. I understand they hotshotted this Batista/Cena match at SS, but can't they at least not repeat the storyline from Mania 24? Lame. Even if one turns on another next week in a rematch and they lose the tag belts, really, what was the point? Couldn't they have just done that THIS week?
  7. How can someone get "punked out" in a promo, when they are scripted in the first place? It's not like they are going out there without lines.... Blame the writers and not the other person's apparent lack of mic skills (which clearly isn't true, Kennedy can talk) for that. let me rephrase...he was out-promoed btw, you do know those things aren't always 100% scripted, right? 99 percent of the time, they are. With the exceptions being the top guys at times.

  9. I've never heard of such a downsizing for a film released by a major distributor (Lions Gate) such as this. I remember, earlier in the year, I saw the trailer for this in front of a ton of films. Then it was supposed to be released sometime around May, I think, got pulled to August, and then from there, a SEVERE cutting of distribution. That's really weird that they aren't even putting it in first run theaters at all, just throwing it into dollar theaters, and at that, only about 100 of them supposedly. The movie's website isn't even updated so as much as to say "now playing" or anything, it still says "coming soon" and just has the trailer there and nothing more. Very odd, there has to have been some politics behind this one, I know there was company execs not thrilled with the title, but that shouldn't have been the reason this all happened. Oh well, at least this will make a quick move to DVD, I'm assuming. Looking forward to seeing it, since it's impossible to around here.
  10. Another ECW note, The Dirt Sheet will be aired as a normal segment (apparently every week) starting this Tuesday on the show. Also, SNME, to no surprise, tanked in the ratings, even pulling under what EliteXC did last weekend. Generally speaking, it was viewed by about the same amount of people that check out ECW every week.
  11. Is he playing the same role as Rock did? I had no idea they were even going to do a Scorpion King sequel at all.
  12. We've all covered this before I think, but a big part of the problem is that on Impact, Tenay and West are moreless reading from a script of main points to sell during the matches. Neither West or Tenay are good with this. They're not nearly as bad when they are calling the pay per views, since they are given more free reign to just call the matches as is.
  13. Way off topic here a bit, but what the fuck..... So I dealt with a little insomnia last night and was channel flipping and came across this Chiller channel on my DirecTV, never knew I even had it til now. What to note is that is has both the Friday the 13th tv series (which has absolutely nothing to do with Jason or Crystal Lake whatsoever, I don't think one episode has anything that ties into it) and Freddy's Nightmares as well. I never understood the whole Friday the 13th series deal......I guess they were just trying to bait people into seeing what it was about, as it really isn't that bad of a stand-alone show, but I can't see how they would keep viewers hooked without the Jason connection. Funny thing is that the main character on the series is the main male lead in Jason Goes to Hell......can't remember his name but it's the same guy. As far as Freddy's Nightmares goes, this was just an awesome series......Englund always does one line intros, segways, and conclusions to each of the episodes in true Freddy form (and whoever did the makeup for him on this series.....wow.....best I've seen than any of the movies even, really freaky looking). Some shows would actually have Freddy as a character in the show, including an episode they did that I have on tape somewhere, basically a prequal to Elm Street one, showing how Freddy got burned by the parents, etc. I'd say for every show that Freddy plays a role in the story, there is about two to three more that he doesnt, but regardless most episodes are based in Springwood and are usually normally always centered around bad dreams. The one they had last night starred the main girl in Friday the 13th Part 7 ironically enough.
  14. So if Mummy didn't beat Dark Knight out of number one, who do you think will? I'm not counting on Pineapple Express doing it next week......what else big is on the horizon that might?
  15. From what I've read in the past at various places, an early version of the JGTH script contained an opening which would have cleared up the ending of Part VIII. I can't confirm that any of this shit is true, but here's how things supposedly go: Jason gets washed away by the toxic waste. The image of Jason as a child is a hallucination by Rennie (the female lead in Part VIII). Rennie has several hallucinations of Jason as a child throughout the movie, making it a plausible theory. JGTH opens with a shot of the hockey mask in the sewers. A gloved hand reaches down and picks it up. Jason, still steaming from the toxic waste, puts the mask on, only to have it mold to his face. Jason would then be shown walking out of the sewers, having been washed back near Crystal Lake. Now that I think about it, Jason's mask is kind of "molded" into his face in JGTH, so this makes sense. I always wondered if that was a nod to the ending of the previous film. I wonder why they decided to scrap the tie-in to part 8?
  16. Seen small ads for it already, I think middle of Sept.
  17. ECW's main event on Tuesday is a hum-dinger (note sarcasm).....Tommy Dreamer vs. Armando Estrada. If Estrada loses, he leaves ECW. (again, Observer site) ---I'm guessing the attempt to have Estrada work matches has completely failed and he'll go back to managing someone.
  18. While I think the feud is great, I don't think there is anyway they can milk it as far as Mania for their blowoff match. At most, I give the feud until Survivor Series, at the very latest. They should have bigger things for Michaels for Mania anyway. If they could keep the strong heel character with Jericho fresh til Mania, and they protect Punk til then, I would love to see that program built for one of Mania's world title matches.
  19. Yeah there was no reasonable explanation how he came back to life after the ending of part 8, when he basically dissolved in the acid bath, and then back into a child. Made no sense at all, unless the plan was for part 8 to originally be the final Friday. I guess the assumption is that somehow Jason escaped New York and that was all a hallucination? BTW, I dont get the flack Jason Goes to Hell gets........I've always really liked the film. It has some wild kills, and I liked that they played the mythology of the Jason character more into the film than a lot of previous efforts. I actually liked the fact that different people were taking Jason's form, at least it was different. Speaking of different though, I'm torn on Jason X......it still has alot of fun scenes and plays homage to the series a bit, but some of the stuff is so over the top, such as a "virtual Crystal Lake" for one. That script was being re-written on the spot constantly and then was shelved for a solid two plus years before it finally came out in theaters, no wonder why. Perhaps somewhat of a fitting end of Jason going by a timeline perspective, but I thought it could have been alot better. And regardless if the original Friday the 13th is a "classic" or not, it really doesn't dignify doing a remake based off whatever this is supposed to be, the first three films roughly I guess. I don't think people are really clamoring, nor demanding such an action, and as I've said before, if anything I would think there would be more fanbase interest in a Freddy v. Jason sequel instead. What gets me about this remake is that it just follows that same mundane and semi-formulmatic way that Platinum Dunes do for these horror remakes, and its already old and dated after them doing such for only about 5-6 years or so. I don't want to go into a remake almost expecting how it will look, feel, and come across even before I see it. And this is what I'm getting here, it feels and looks too similar to TCM remakes and the like.
  20. Hahaha, oh yes, I forgot to mention that, nice call there! Obviously they must have taken that sign later in the evening when they started Raw. I imagine that got some good laughs from the back. For those who have the capacity of HD and the NBC HD channel, was it just here or was about half the show only in HD? Basically the opening match and Edge/Hardy.
  21. Raw's main event on Monday.....Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes defend the tag titles against John Cena & Batista. (wo.com) ---I hope they dont do the title switch, building Cena/Batista just as the Michaels/Cena feud. They've done the "rivals become tag champs" storyline far too much too many times in the last 3-4 years.
  22. Hardy and Edge was a well laid out match, otherwise nothing on this show was even really entertaining to me.
  23. I don't know about that. I remember thinking those early Russo 1 hour 2006 shows being really bad. Those shows as a whole were probably worse than the ones that had that Jarrett/Hebner/Larry Z nonsense. Its like Russo tried to cram in a 2 hour show into 1 hour, and it was a mess. Everything was so lightning paced that it seemed like it was over before it begun. Yeah, everything done during the one hour days was, nine out of ten times, extremely rushed to the max, to try to fit the entire roster on a one hour show. The pacing issue is way better now, and actually since they have gone two hours, alot of these shows have been much stronger with the workrate as well as angles that actually mean something in cases. The one hour Impact days hardly had anything memorable, generally speaking.
  24. FYI, these were the shows I was talking about before in how they taped these in Rochester, MN ad nauseum, went to many of these tapings, they were brutally hard to sit through since they taped five hours in a row once a week (I think they did them on Saturdays). As you could probably see, the lights are extremely lowered because there really wasn't that many people at this shows, especially as they went on. When they first started doing weekly shows, they papered the shit out of these shows until they thought enough would come back and pay next time around, well they didn't. If I recall, tickets were real cheap, I think $5 for general admission and ringside was $10. Be prepared for some ridiculous shit, the show from Thursday already proved that with very odd gimmick matches. I just have watched bits and pieces of the last few shows, but I'm sure I'll post more on them when I catch up, as I probably will recollect things from seeing these horrible shows. One thing I did notice though, some really shitty production values with Bischoff doing the interviews behind a shitty looking bluescreen. Definately showed the company was about to go under here. And I forgot about that god awful announcer with Lee Marshall, ugh!
  25. Here's more nonsense about this from that same site that was referenced. UPDATED: I'm told that Mike Myers has started writing Austin Powers 4 which will be an homage to his late father. "It's very personal with a father and son theme loosely based on his own life," an insider tells me. As Myers has previously said, this fourth installment of the super spy spoof movie series will focus on Austin's arch-villain Dr. Evil, who was based on Blofeld of the Bond films. But what hasn't been known is that the AP4 plot is really about Dr. Evil and his son (introduced already as Scott Evil, played by Seth Green). (NEW) Myers said this week he conceived the film’s plot during a “spiritual quest” of self-discovery to help him cope with his dad’s death in 1991 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. And it was during this time in his life that he said he was inspired to create the character of The Love Guru. “In many ways, The Love Guru is honouring him by dealing with his loss, because making silly movies is how I deal with things.” Myers is penning his idea with Baby Mama's Mike McCullers, who collaborated with Myers on Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Austin Powers 3: Goldmember. There's no deal in place yet but New Line is panting after No. 4 despite Myer's recent box office bomb, The Love Guru, for Paramount. But does Myers realize he may no longer be a draw? (Probably not. Before the pic opened, he reportedly made diva demands from Conan O'Brien staffers last month for stupid stuff like Twizzlers and raspberry seltzer. Ugh.) Interestingly, I'm told that Myers had a character in the original Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery script called The Love Guru but decided not to shoot it and then wrote it out of the series. Nevertheless, when Paramount decided to make The Love Guru, it demanded that New Line sign a pledge that it had no claims to the character.
