  1. I've only been to three movies where people have applauded before........thank god because I think its rather ridiculous. 1 - After they showed a trailer for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen before a midnight showing of the second Matrix film, some dope stands up and applauds. He also stands up and cheers when just Sean Connery's name alone shows up as one of the stars. Many of us laughed our asses off at this guy to say the least. 2 - During Shawn of the Dead, there was probably about 10 of us in the theatre, and some dude was clapping damn near during every joke. He then, after the film, stood up and cheered as well. Pretty odd. Good movie and all, but WTF. My girlfriend at the time wanted to go down and slap this guy for being so overtly boisterous. I think it ruined the movie for her a bit. 3 - Third time at least made a bit of sense and some people followed in it, during the first showing of Return of the King, after the credits rolled.
  2. Hot damn, I guessed right on that "international star" with throwing Sapps name out there. I saw some of Sapp in Wildside (during some weird Best of shows they had on a local channel here right around when they went under) and for being extremely green at the time, he was immensely charismatic even then. It would be a big pick-up for TNA, in terms of a guy with a huge upside for this business (since his MMA starpower is fading a bit) but it would come down to if TNA would use him properly or not. Hard to say but I think its definately worth a shot since I could see matches with him against Angle, Booker, and Joe just off the top of my head as really interesting bouts.

    Karen Angle

Is she hot? Fuck yes. Is she being oversaturated with TV time each week? Absolutely. As long as she keeps to being in segments with Kurt, and they sooner or later start becoming less and less a focal point of each show, then I'm fine with her. But if she starts working matches, that may be a stretch.

    Impact spoilers for 11/22

It is forced because its so blatantly scripted with most of everything they are saying. It seemed more evident than ever on this past weeks show. There was some cutaways and cut-ins to new matches/segments where it was REALLY bad in that sense. Don West, particularly, cannot read from a script well at all. Overall, I did enjoy this weeks show though. Pretty solid bouts all around, the last match in fact was easily one of TNA's strongest TV main events in awhile, and the Angle skits were hokey at times, but nothing too offensively bad/hard to sit through. In fact I thought they were entertaining. Clear Russo influence on Chris Harris showing up to the place though. Something he said around the lines of that this is the only way he can get screen time on TNA, etc. And of course the knock on Pacman Jones was pretty good.
  5. I dont know why, but I'm going with Bob Sapp possibly, as weird as that sounds. I know they wanted him a few other times and with Angle having some pull, well.... I think TNA even wanted to help put together a shootfight with Sapp and Angle IIRC.

    Smackdown Spoilers for Nov 23rd...

To me its not that she looks bad, good, or indifferent. Its who she is - Eddy Guererro's widow. She's just one of those people you dont want to see heel, much less in a role like that.

    Smackdown Spoilers for Nov 23rd...

Sounds like the Vicki/Edge thing was something they had more of a long term idea on, and its now just been rolled into one show, hopefully. With Vicki taking the tombstone, thats a clear write-off for her character, hopefully. I think in the big scheme of things, that is probably the best. She is off TV, hopefully with no return whatsoever, and Teddy Long comes back next week as the GM. I still dont get WHY Vicki wanted Taker to lose at HIAC though, whats her beef with him? Or even if the story is just that Edge manipulated her to get a title shot at Batista then, why did Edge still attack Taker? That part seemed to still have never been explained here.

    ECW 11.20.07

Overall another pretty solid ECW show this week, like the interactions with bringing in Smackdown guys to the shows. Give it time and I bet we'll see Raw guys even show up more than often, and I wouldn't at all be surprised to see "Extreme Rules" matches between two Raw or two Smackdown guys/teams be showcased on this show down the road, since we have now gone to the point of having not only ECW guys winning gold from the other shows, but two Smackdown teams fighting each other ON an ECW show (Jesse & Festus v. Deuce & Domino). Wow, that Kelly-Layla food fight segment was harsh though. Kelly can't even open a can of whipped cream and Layla's top seems to slip off, and they both seemed like they were just two statues standing there taking loads of food dumped over each others heads without even fighting back until the end there.
  9. Went to an indy show in Northern MN over the weekend and Christy Hemme, Rikishi, and Jake Roberts headlined....just some randomness from that night that I might as well post here.... From seeing her interaction with fans and whatnot, Christy shows she really WANTS to be in this business. Somehow she recently got a concussion (last match w/ Kong? Hard to say...) so she wasnt allowed to work a match. But she still was a referee for a (horrible) ladies match on the card. As far as Rikishi goes, he seems pretty bitter and burned out with wrestling as a whole. Was kind of rude to kids that wanted his autograph, wouldnt really even talk to them unless they paid for a signature. Asked him about if he's coming back to TNA at all, and he laughed. Take that as what you will. He phoned in his match bigtime. And then Jake Roberts - you can imagine the story here. He was hanging around the vending area clearly intoxicated/fucked up on something pretty much right as the show started. Didn't really interact with many people much, just kind of walked around drinking, etc. He was supposed to be in the main event of the night but the promoter ended up putting him in the last match before intermission, clearly concerned he was going to continue to get messed up and be in no shape to perform. As it went, Roberts came out to the ring VERY loaded, did his usual crass sexual manuerisms and everything (if anyone saw Heroes of Wrestling ppv, this was almost a rehash of what he was like) and worked about a 4 minute match, if even that. Just an awful and embarrasing sight to have to witness. There was a follow up "apology to the fans" message from the promoter later on, explaining that Jake showed up at 4pm already really wasted and he felt he had to make the decision to get him out there ASAP because of that. The company even rented out a snake for Roberts to use for the show (I guess he either doesnt have or can't travel with the snake anymore?) and since he was so blasted, they refused to let him bring the snake out to the ring with him. On top of that, the promoter docked Roberts pay by twenty five percent because of everything. Weird night for sure at the local indy show.

    OAO 2007 Survivor Series Thread

Ill post more thoughts later (thought it was an ok show but not the best of the year or anything) but one thing I have to say is that the ppv had one of the most unenthusiastic crowds I've heard in recent memory. I swear you could hear pins drop alot during the last two matches, surprisingly.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 11/16/07

That's the idea I get - basically they are just going to rehash that storyline a bit with these guys now. That's why I dont like it really, things were going just fine with MVP/Hardy as tag champs, the storyline from the match with them on ECW made me WANT to see these guys hold the straps for a while longer, and then they hotshot them out to Miz/Morrison. And not just once, but TWICE. That all happened too quick, and really Morrison/Miz have a decent enough feud upcoming without having to incorporate this into it.

    ECW 11.13.07

Top to bottom that was a pretty damn entertaining show last night for sure. Only real complaint was that Morrison and Miz's repetitive banter really took away from the focus on Knoble/Punk, which was pretty damn good. Throughout that whole time, all we heard was Morrison say ONCE that Punk has been a good champion, otherwise they really didnt talk about him whatsoever. But tit for tat - it was still one of the better ECW shows in months.
  13. I ended up picking the 20th Anniversary edition of the Princess Bride today with an Andre the Giant t-shirt for 17 bucks at Best Buy. Just a heads up to those interested.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 11/16/07

Three words for the tag title change - WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT - WTF.... As I've said before, I'm all for a Miz/Morrison feud, but they dont need to do it at the expense of another "feuding partners" angle. MVP and Hardy were doing fucking great in that role and I was always looking forward to seeing where that would lead. This was totally out of the blue and not exactly preferred. The title change should have meant more than this.

    Impact spoilers for 11/22

Yeah the 8 man looks like it has potential - one thing out of these tapings is that the Christian/Styles stuff has been addressed more than prior. Looks like we may in for a feud with those sooner than later. I still cant tell if Styles or Christian would go face though. It's a little odd, though, that I see nothing for followup on Christian/Booker T here - I would assume that match will be at the next ppv.
  16. RedJed

    Impact spoilers for 11/22

Basically the first three matches are qualifyers for the "Turkey Bowl" match that was taped last night, so those three matches, the Turkey Bowl match and random other bouts (probably a few from last night?) will air on Thanksgiving. The rest of the mess will air the week after. So they just went ass backwards on all of that Turkey Bowl nonsense basically. The spoilers from Monday's taping sounded alot more logical and coherant than this. So we all have the results from all the shows leading into the next ppv. I aint impressed at all. And it sounds like Sting is just going to be written out of the company with absolutely no follow up from the ppv where he was made to look rather lackluster.

    Impact spoilers for 11/22

They're legit, here is more details...... TNA Impact tapings November 13, 2007 Orlando, Fla. at Universal Studios Report by David Tuthill, PWTorch VIP member TNA returned for a second day's worth of tapings. They were taping for different weeks and it was hard to keep track of what went where, but here are the results: (1) Chris Sabin defeated Brother Devon and Abyss in a three-way. I suppose this was the first round of the "Turkey Bowl" that was taped yesterday (2) Samoa Joe defeated Johnny Devine and Kip James in a three-way. Havok changing his name was just the beginning for names tonight. Joe won with an Island Driver on Havok. (3) A.J. Styles defeated Christian Cage and Jay Lethal in a three-way. Cage didn't come out at first, so it was Styles and Lethal early. When he did, Styles ran away from him. Cage had Lethal beat with an Unprettier but Styles hit a springboard splash while Cage was turned for the pin. (4) ODB defeated Velvet Sky (Talia Madison) and Angelina Love (Angel Williams). Very odd to change the names of the wrestler's who have already been on TV. Okay match. ODB won with a top rope thesz press. She is really great. The women's division in TNA has been a big surprise. Booker T and Sharmell come out for a promo. He says he's in TNA to make it the best company in the world and that he's gunning for the World Title. Robert Roode comes out and the two banter back and forth before security gets in between them. They agree to a match later. (5) Jimmy Rave & Christy Hemme defeated Eric Young & Gail Kim. The Rave/Hoyt/Hemme act are being called the "Rock 'n' Rave Infection." That isn't a typo. After the match, James Storm comes out and challenges Eric Young to a speed drinking contest. Whoever can drink the most in 60 seconds wins the belt. It was funny seeing Young win despite pouring 90 percent of the beer down his chest. After Young is declared the winner, Storm breaks a bottle over his head and lays him out. Young bleeds VERY heavily. It's kind of odd to do such a heavy angle in a comedy feud, but this certainly got over. (6) Team 3D defeated Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal in a Streetfight. They brawled around early, with Dutt and Lethal both doing dives into the crowd. Dutt landed a flip van terminator with a trash can. Johnny Devine came out and distracted Dutt and Lethal, enabling the Dudleyz to nail the 3D for the pin. (7) Rhino defeated Relic. Short. Rhino with the Gore. Black Reign hits the ring for a 2on1 post match, and Abyss makes the save. We're running on a treadmill with these guys. (8) Booker T defeated Robert Roode. Pretty standard match here, but you can definitely tell Booker is a lot happier. Roode went for a chairshot and Booker got out of the way and nailed a leg lariat and hit the Axe kick for the win. (9) Samoa Joe & Kaz & Scott Steiner & Abyss defeated Kurt Angle & Christian Cage & Tomko & A.J. Styles. Why won't they call him Kazarian? Great, long, match. The finish was all eight guys coming in with one of their trademark moves, Joe poking A.J. in the eyes, Cage setting up Joe for an Unprettier until A.J. nailed him blind with a kick before Joe hit Cage with the Island Driver and pinned him. Afterwards, The Outsiders came out to the top of the ramp and clapped for Joe. Go out of your way to see this one. XPLOSION MATCHES (1) Johnny Devine defeated Petey Williams. Devine won with a Double Underhook Piledriver. (2) VKM & Roxxi Lavaugh defeated Chris Harris, Shark Boy, and Angelina Love (Angel Williams).

    Impact spoilers for 11/15

They probably want to copyright a new name for him. See the other Impact taping results for more on that same idea.... I still am sticking to my guns on the whole Kaz thing - a world title shot for him is NOT some sort of chapter closing on his push. Or lets put it this way, lets wait and see how the match goes and more importantly what they do to follow up before its all decided that TNA dropped the ball on a push to try to get him over. He's not ready for main event level matches yet, but thats the point - they seem to be building him towards that in due time by even doing a title match on Impact.

Adam implied that he slept with Elle. He warned Peter not to give into temptation. She said she was 24, so take away 6 years that would make her 18. Could the one little girl who Mohinder and Matt was protecting be their lovechild?

I dont think Adam is Claire's dad - there are other possibilities on children of his though, think about it - could be anyone, he's been locked in there for 40 some years and before that, who knows too. One thing that caught my attention, Adam said "6 years ago" he got into something with Elle - wonder what thats about?

Anyone want to try to decipher what exactly the equations in the vignette meant? They were, I believe, X + 1 = Y, and J = 1 + 9. Somehow, I think that supposed to mean "Y2J" or something. Also, there was a weird file extension or something I didn't see before that was on tonight, but can't recall what it exactly said. I'd love for every code that appeared to have meaning and get explained in some form from someone. And WWE did the right thing by holding this out a bit and making it obvious he's going to be there next Monday so there is a clear timeframe to this finally. Plus, Jericho is done with his book tour this weekend to boot so its definately next Monday. Can't wait.

    Impact spoilers for 11/15

I dont think they wasted the tournament on this with Kaz. EVERYTHING they are doing here is slowly building him into a credible performer. Guys, he beat Christian in the next to as clean of a job Christian has done for ANYONE except Joe since he's been in TNA. And it wasn't like it was a fluke in any sense. That's how you build a guy up, by manufacturing big moments for the character and big wins as well. Unless they totally squashed him against Angle at the taping, which from reading the spoilers doesnt appear to be the case, this just helps to further elevate him overall. Back when Jarrett was heel champion, I recall them putting Lethal in there with him and he was made to look competitive as hell even though he lost. From there, they just continued to push him into finally getting the X division belt, so this may be a similar vein here a bit, only they will just continue to build him up as a serious threat to the champ (whoever it may be), and if he keeps going, sooner or later he might make a main event spot if the fans get really behind him. But that takes time and all of these situations they are giving Kaz are giving him that slow build to be taken seriously as a true star for the company. Trying to build him up to an actual ppv match against the TNA champ, even months from now, is still something nobody is going to be take seriously even if they pushed him flawlessly from now to then. Like some have said, things take time, and thats still what is happening. So lets get off this Kaz title shot is premature/pointless, because it's not. Its still putting him over, regardless.

WWE General Discussion - November 2007

Hmmm, when is this supposed to come out? That cover looks legit, you can even read some of the save us taglines are in the electric current. Is WWE Magazine turning into a tabloid? Batista and Mysterio "detained by authorities" huh?

    OAO RAW Thread 11/12

Ok show - although one thing just stood out to me as confusing. The whole Hornswaggle/Coach segment was done in an empty arena, why exactly? That just seemed so odd to do it that way, and why not just do that same segment in front of a live crowd? Were they afraid of them shitting on it? Just seemed weird to script it like that to say the least. Many examples of the writing contradictory towards the situation. Regal and Lillian both treating it like they are in front of a live audience, Regal even stating "Ladies and Gentlemen" as he starts working the mic. And then Hornswaggle goes up the ramp after the match and appears to play to a crowd that isnt even there on the top of the ramp. Just bizzare. I guess I wasn't handed the memo that "open exhibition" angles must NOT be in front of a live audience. I marked out for the kiss of death - that was one of the highlights of the show. Hell of a kick for sure too. Go Mickie Lots of star power on the show, which helps, but still was hoping for some better build to the ppv than what I saw.

Alot of things makes complete sense now in the bridging between the aftermath of last season and this season, thats for sure. Well done episode for the most part and my god, Kristen Bell gave me the feel goods in her seductive and sexy as all fuck, yet innocent acting role tonight. Fucking yum. Most jaw dropping hotness on TV, period. My main issue with the season for the most part was the whys and hows of everything so far, and this made up for it tenfold. Did it need to be told in a flashback form like this? Maybe, maybe not, but at least we get things explained about this and that. We still need to know how Silar got to where he ended up going after the end of last season, though. DL went out in true hero form, regardless of the actual Nikki dynamic being lame or not (which I agree it kind of is, but further explains why she joined up to be "saved"). It was cool to see him doing what he was doing right before he died, truly trying to make the best of his abilities for everyone involved. If you're going to kill off a significant character, especially a character you already knew was dead, I thought it was pretty good storytelling. So Nathan got a beard and drinking problem in a month's time, that's not abnormal - fuck, I think I've been there myself!
