    Box Office report

Invasion was downright horrible. Quite possibly one of the worst films I've seen in the theatre this year. They changed up the details on how the alien virus came to arrive to the country, etc, so it didnt feel like a complete remake, but it was a really badly disjointed story overall. And this was AFTER the guys who wrote/directed the Matrix series came in to do damage control on the script with rewrites and then they hired a new director to do more filming done earlier this year, after they wrapped up initial filming on this in 2005 actually. I guess it was supposed to be released last summer, intially, but the studio hated it so much they canned it for a bit and then the new players came into the fold to add more things to it, including a 'twist ending' that is anything but that. I cant imagine how horrible it was before they came into the fold if they thought what it ended up being as was actually satisfactory to them. Only positive on this was seeing Nicole Kidman looking hotter than all fuck in this one and even getting down to her bra and panties in a few parts. But was it worth paying her 17 fucking million for? Of course not. They'll be lucky to even be able to make back her salary here at the box office, as I totally expect a ridiculously huge drop for this next week. Its getting horrible reviews everywhere, check out Rotten Tomatoes to see what I mean. Oh and I couldnt even get in to see Superbad this weekend. I tried Sat and today and both times I wanted to go were sold out. Yet this same theatre has Bourne still on three screens. Someone has no idea how to run a movie theater here in town.

    The LIVE on-going SNME Thread

Looks like I was the only one who enjoyed the show. The Orton-Cena angle was tremendous, and Austin/Vince, even know we are now almost at a 10 year anniversary of that feud officially starting (in the same location even) was still fun to watch. The matches themselves were nothing stupendous, but served their purpose as build to SS. The Holyfield deal - I didnt see it nearly as bad as most here. What do you expect, its a freakin worked boxing match?!! I took it for what it was and was entertained enough. The only real bone to pick with this show was the build for it. With Holyfield appearing, they should have started promoting this weeks ahead. Hell, we hardly got much of promotion for it on any of the shows this week either.
  3. That wasnt from TripleMania XV - that was from the week before such (you must be watching the Sunday show, which I think typically airs last weeks show). Ok so this was what was on the part 1 show, apparently part two was supposed to be this weekend but it appeared to be a complete repeat of last week, I think. I could be wrong though as last week went two hours and this weeks show is three hours, so maybe they are just repeating last weeks matches and adding another hour of new content?!! From what I recall it was a weird heel/face v. heel/face match of Super Calo/Superfly v. Gran Apache and Laredo Kid - whoever loses that match, those two losers then take each on each other in a mask match (which I would assume airs next week then). Juvy v. Fuerza street fight, not a bad match at all, lots of brawling all over the place. Headhunter 1, Rikishi, Sabu & ROn Killings v. La Parka, Zorro, Latin Lover and the "surprise" which was supposed to be intially Hogan, then turned to Dr. Wagner Jr. (which of course didnt happen) and then turned to some goofy character named Animal who reminded me of a bad version of Gronda (which speaks volumes) Cinthia Moreno,Octagoncito,Oriental & Pimpinella Escarlata v. Alfa, Casandro, Fabi Apache & Mini-Abismo Negro as well, I believe. This week was advertised as having the other bouts - Calo v. Superfly in a mask match (they lost the above mentioned match), Mexican Powers v. Ozz/Cuervo and the new Thunderdomish cage match with Cibernetico, Chessman & Charly Manson v. Mesias, X-Pac & Suzuki. I saw a clip of a bump Chessman took off the top of the cage that is quite crazy. Also they showed a small clip of Lita's band playing on stage before the show started. She's looking good, fortunately I cant comment on the music since they never played any audio during it.

I wonder why they didnt release that deleted scene kill of Matthews? Interesting to see that picture, that certainly shows he's pretty much done for.

Will you just enjoy the shows for what they are and stop worrying about a company making money or not? TNA sure doesnt care....why should we? If something in entertaining, it is what it is. Stop trying to find a negative in a positive....its ok to give some credit to TNA for things they do that work. This board seems to just harbor on the bad. I'm not saying some shit is bad, but not EVERYTHING is. Who gives a flying fuck if, say, the AJ Styles character (which is IMO their best guy right now from an entertaining standpoint) can make them any money or not as long as you enjoy what the fuck he is doing? Newsflash - NOBODY can make this company money, so what is your point exactly? I still believe the PR/marketing department of this company needs to be amped up substantially, and then maybe people will at least tune in to see whats going on. They havent even reached that step yet where more than the normal base, give and take a rating point above or below that, actually knows or cares to tune in to Impact intiially.

Crazy hijinks from the 2 wild & crazy guys in Angle & Nash! More WWE has beens joining the main event? Whatever the case, both Angle and Nash, to me, are entertaining as hell right now, characteristically speaking. I don't forsee Andrew Martin, for example, main eventing an upcoming ppv, so I am not tripping out about that.

    Impact spoilers

They abolished that policy at the last ppv so it must just be an Impact thing. So they will just tease. I'll be damned but I enjoyed the show last night quite a bit. I'd much rather have the way Impact has been than have shit on there that is just so tediously boring its hard to sit through. At least it feels like stuff that is leading places is happening, and you somewhat don't know what to expect next with the shows.
  9. If Lynn asked for his release (I wonder why though? He seemed to be doing ok as far as a push went and airtime, etc) I can handle that....otherwise I would be pissed at TNA for no end to let him go, since he's been a loyal employee to them since its inception. The other releases - meh. I didnt consider any of them standout talents particularly. So when did TNA actually start doing contracts? I thought with most talent there, they are just on a pay per appearance and if they aren't used, they just dont get paid?

Don't be silly. If Lesnar comes in, Vince Russo will forget about Joe faster than Milli Vanilli and just build on to Angle vs Lesnar. Time will tell, I guess.

If you mean Pacman, then it's probably because he's a 'celebrity' in Nashville and if you're a name in Nashville then chances are Jarrett and company will use you at some point to try and get attention. Exactly. Truth be told, I'm a fareweather NFL fan, and quite honestly, Pacman Jones was a name I knew of vaguely, but not considerably. I'm sure I'm not the only one. That in itself should explain the reaction to him by the fans and the lack of response of casual viewers to see him on TNA. The Pacman Jones move was good in theory IF he could have worked matches, AND if he could have came in relatively affordable. But neither happened and you see the result. Revolt. Its an idea that intially I think was very thinking outside the box by TNA (to try to generate mainstream appeal to the product via media reporting on Jones, etc), but really turned on itself the more serious talks got with Jones, the Titans stepped in, and whatnot. TNA would have been much better served to have linked the controversy with the Titans not wanting him to work there alone, have him do some one time promo on Impact talking about it, and leaving it at that. Not to derail this thread completely here, but TNA almost had Ray Lewis signed up for Slamiversary to oppose Frank Wycheck/Lynn with James Storm. Just a little tidbit I recently read in an Observer.

Judging by the spoilers for the next few weeks, I'm thinking they will be doing Joe v. Christian at No Surrender for a title shot at BFG possibly. And if Joe would win that match, it would certainly be significant as I dont recall Christian really losing hardly ever, if not at all. At least via pinfall or submission, or am I wrong? And then I'm sure this has been posted in other spots here but.... --Kurt Angle is trying to broker a deal for Brock Lesnar to come to TNA. Dixie Carter and Lesnar have already begun talks. If TNA can do Joe v. Angle v. Lesnar at BFG, I'm more than happy with that.

OAO TNA: Hard Justice PPV Thread

A cheap DQ would have continued to build the feud and kept Joe strong. This doesn't further the feud, makes Joe look like a moron, and alienates the entire fanbase. Explain to me, from a kayfabe standpoint, how I'm supposed to take Joe seriously as a title contender after that. Joe gets angry for being outsmarted and beats the living hell out of Angle, but not in a match, say Angle's gloating in the ring about what happen, Joe's music hits and Joe just beats the living hell out of him until wrestlers/security are able to hold him back enough for Angle to escape and Joe keeps going after Angle until he gets a re-match. Build up to the re-match where Joe actually wins the TNA world title but TNA needs to build it up, not just hot shot it like they did with this angle. Though how does the Karen Angle thing not further the feud? Joe got cheated out of a title(s) win, Joe wants revenage and a re-match, how does that further a feud? Exactly - while I think that finish was uber-predictable as all hell, and didnt really care for it because of that, I dont think that buried Joe to a point of no return. Yes, it made him look a bit naive, but it wasnt like in the context of that match, he wasnt dominant. That can't be the blowoff to their feud - I easily see a final match at BFG with the two, probably under some gimmick of some sort. Now lets say that IS the end of the feud as they blew it off because Joe may be on his way out, what does everyone think about the fact that maybe they did that because Joe isnt resigning? Do you really blame them that they dont put him over or are you still expecting them to? When exactly does his TNA contract expire anyway? I dont get why everyone is in such a huff about the rest of the ppv other than the main event. The cage match was quite quick of a bout, but ok. The undercard, to me, was much stronger than what has been the standard on TNA ppvs throughout the year. The opener was fantastic - so people are complaining because the unpredictable finish occured? I was fine with it, does anyone really think this is burying either XXX or MCM by having Lethal/Dutt win a match against them when this appears to be likely a long term feud with the three teams? MCM are really over though, and if they arent getting a push within a few months, then I will bitch. But they were the neutral team in that match anyway, they didnt do the job so whats the issue? Raven-Kaz, perfectly fine match for what it was. They put Kaz over, again, WTF people? Storm/Rhino, enjoyed it for the most part - some of the props were cheesy though, in particularly the toilet. Who gives two shits if they use "real booze" or not, it looked "real enough" to me where I didnt care. Hey, at least give whoever credit for building a story in the match and not just having your a-typical bout with little to no direction in it. The feud is building more heat to me, and am looking forward to another one. EY/Roode, again people are complaining on the finish. The match itself bored me a bit, just because we've seen them work SO MUCH against each other. But this appeared to be the blowoff. Roode (who deservingly deserves the last win in the feud) is put over, yet we get the babyface "wins" ending against the girl who fucked him around for months. Whats the big issue, guys?! LAX/VKM, shitty match but right team goes over. Interested to seeing where Guererro/LAX goes, maybe he will manage them? Harris/Rhodes, pretty heatless match, I dont know how to take this Black Reign shit other than its like the exact opposite of Goldust, which I suppose is the intention. This, actually, other than the ME finish, is the main issue I had with the show. Harris looked like a chump here, even though Rhodes was attacking him with cuffs pretty quick, etc. But he got in little to no offense and pretty much got beat the fuck down. I understand they needed to make an immediate impact with Rhodes and this new gimmick, but not at the expense of Harris. Steiners/3D, other than a botch by Rick and Buh Buh, I thought this was a decent match considering the limitations all these guys have. Cage match, should have been much better given the stip, etc. I'm kind of tired of Abyss always getting a ppv title shot seemingly every 3 months or so. Would have much preferred Sting-Angle at the next ppv. Now to the Pacman deal - I do still wish they would have severed that contract of his once they found out he cant work a match or get into any physical shit. But I guess they really can't just do that, as it was a legal binding contract. So they are basically stuck with him - all things considering, other than the lack of giving two shits that Jones portrayed, I thought the segment was alright. Killings cut a great promo and bitching about them cutting an angle with Jones laid out in the back, other than doing NOTHING, thats about all they can do at this point to get shit started with him. All in all, I thought this ppv was a few steps up, if not more, than last months show, and about at the same level as Slamiversary.

Thats what I dont get - they then sign Pacman Jones when they are supposedly going way over budget. Just doesnt make sense at all. And Jarrett aint goin nowhere. I also think its absurd to "boycott" TNA over whatever - they havent done anything overly insulting to the audience other than stupid predictible booking on the top of the card that, for all we know, is still leading to a Samoa Joe title win at BFG or something. Other than that ending (which I will comment more on in the ppv thread) that ppv wasnt in the least insulting or lame to me. And each week's Impact in the past 4 weeks have been entertaining as hell to me. Whatever, I guess.

    TNA get their letter

its never been anything official, but this will force their hand to have something, ANYTHING, in place. I'm all for it since I thought WWE shouldnt have solely been targeted with all of this anyway - if congress, and in turn the industry itself, wants changes, well then everyone pretty much needs to be included. With that said, what about the NWA being counted as well? That in itself may be a really rough deal because there are so many NWA territories, some of a very low budget.

    *Smackdown Spoilers*

I think I said the same thing last week, but this show is just excessively dull sounding every week on paper. And the result on TV isnt much better. I continue to be underwhelmed. I dont know if its because of their roster being so picked apart from the draft or what exactly, but nothing grabs me as entertaining, nor interesting, on this show at all.

    Box Office Report...

The only film I have seen out of that list is Behind the Mask, and yes, its a tremendous film - very unique and well done. Its on DVD now, highly recommended to check out.
  20. Anyone catch the TripleMania XV stuff over the weekend? I'm betting we get three hours more next week of it all, as alot of stuff wasn't aired that was to be expected.
  21. Rhodes never won the belt at all in TNA. I know he worked a match or two against Styles though for the belt, but never won. Boy, were those matches horrible, BTW.
  22. Russo is perfectly acceptable to me as a member of a creative team as long as it's in a TEAM, not just by himself. He worked well in WWE, he has worked well in TNA when given someone to springboard ideas off of as well. I dont know what his power is right now in creative completely, but my hunch is that he is filtered substantially and/or falls in and out of control of Impact's direction. He is a good asset to have, just not as a head writer, basically.

    NFL Star headed to TNA

Point taken, but clearly the Titans want him to not capitalize on his suspension by doing this, much less making a shit-ton of money off it. TNA shouldn't even fight it anyway, this whole thing is a waste of money - just have him appear at the ppv this weekend, cut an angle with whoever much like Urlacher did years ago, and MAYBE you can follow up with it sometime later, but don't go as full tilt with the Pacman push as was once planned. Here is an idea - get a credible star that could make waves and PROMOTE that star the right way. It aint rocket science, in theory, at least.

    8/9/2007 Impact Thread

I hate to jump the gun, but if they are paying this guy the amount I have been hearing, it might be best to let him go ASAP, as in at the ppv. I heard they are paying him more than any guy in TNA history, and that in itself is ridiculous. Throw in the fact that the rating is worse than most weeks and why fucking bother? The word of mouth, if there was legit interest, should have jumped the rating and it did the opposite. This was the peak of "free" TNA mainstream coverage nationally and this happened? Wow. Talk about a misfire.
  25. Pardon my lack of knowledge on all this, but this is actually a part of a storyline in their program? HUH?!! I just heard about this, like, right now, in terms of it all relating to MVP. I gotta say....something aint right with incorporating a real life condition like this (assuming it's legit and isn't just some spin to play into the congress issue) into a produced storyline. But I dont know much for details (havent watched Smackdown yet) so this is all out of left field and maybe I'm overreacting. Whatever the case, like most have said, this seems to be a case of "Look at how great our Wellness Policy is!" or something. Point is being made but it's so transparent I can see right through it.
