Mr. McMahon "dead" - Now for the "whodunit" angle.
RedJed replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
In the current WON, Meltz reported that indeed Vince was going to "stage his own death" but with an accomplice that helped him, which was, at the time it was dropped, going to be Kennedy. Other tidbits from the newsletter about the angle...... Vince thought the angle was so hot, it was going to be the next big thing and really change the business significantly. At some point in the planning/laying out of the angle, Vince was going to milk it for TWO YEARS until he returned. -

I dont know a whole lot about the drug itself, but from Regal's comments specifically, it really messes your head up where you do violent and almost "out of body/mind" things that one wouldnt normally do. -

In regard to the GHB story, Eddie Guerrero was under the influence of GHB when he wrecked his car at 130mph in 1999 in what he later called an attempted suicide...take that as you will as that, as well as Regal's comment on the drug, may really explain what happened here --- almost in a way a complete going crazy effect. -
I completely applaud TNA for doing what they did last week with the world title match taking up nearly the whole hour, but really, that match, to me, wasnt more than *** at best. There was so many run-ins and such and the flow of the match was far from phemoninal even taking out all of the run-ins. Oh well, its a good start to things, but to throw a match that long into the show that really, in the big scheme of things, didnt mean much or certainly will not be remembered down the road kinda sucks. I think TNA needs to find the balance now between rushing tons of characters in one hour and doing what they did here. Having a guaranteed 15 minute main event would be nice as a given from this point on, for example.

For what it's worth, if this stuff about GHB is true w/ Benoit, that may be the most reasonably plausable explanation for all this versus the goddamned steroid explaination. No doubt the media will probably just sideswipe this news though. To take it a step further, is it possible the doctor that has pretty much bailed and left town (or did they find him now? I was gone all weekend and trying to catch up with the news behind it all) gave this to Benoit? If so, that is VERY fucked, indeed. -

Given the plan of the angle, I'm thankful it was dropped. Linda likely would have been that third person with DNA in the limo, would have then been arrested last Monday (as I think I read she was supposed to be there) on Raw and then at the next ppv, we would have seen Vince re-appear. Yay. Figured it was Vince all along since he was giving premoninitions of it happening, was acting weird, and did it to regain importance in himself (kayfabe talk keep in mind) after losing the ECW title. I do wonder, however, what was the entire booking plan for last Monday's Raw as a whole - who did vignettes about Vince, etc. -

Be it true or not with the accusations Debra has made toward Austin and WWE in general, this is just not the time nor the place to get coincidentally public with that shit. Its just throwing fuel on a media fire that WWE is at fault for Benoit's insanity, playing into the steroids killed them theory they are spinning so much. And she's using the excuse that she thinks she could have "saved" Nancy and Daniel if she would have just publicly said something earlier. Whatever - Chris Benoit was fucked in the head and it wouldnt have changed a thing. Again, thats just blaming steroids as the culprit of the killings. -

I hope Austin and WWE sues her ass for slander - I dont like AT ALL that she's using this tragedy for her own agenda. This is the same shit she mentioned a few days ago (and was posted here) but now has added that WWE put a gag on her for over a year, covering for Austin, etc. The interview she did before said Austin himself forced her to shut up about the beatings somehow (she didnt specify). So she is saying he always because overly violent while he was on roids only? It doesnt make sense really. -

Going back x number of pages, WTF is the deal with the report that Sherri and Kevin Sullivan were linked together, and WTF does that have to do AT ALL with the Benoit murders? My god, the media is all over the place on this story. What was Geraldo even suggesting about Sherri dying the same day as Benoit as well? Assuming she actually in fact did (which of course isnt true) I still dont get it. That Wikipedia deal is really weird, and I believe one of us here at TSM (cant remember who though) posted that stuff WAY before media reports leaked about it, actually on Monday night IIRC. -

Well, I guess Debra found the perfect chance to vent about Austin because of this. Jesus. I'll probably get heat for saying this, but half of the shit she was spouting there was bullshit and overdramatic. Yes, her and Austin has physical altercations (was it just once documented?) but she's throwing out some SERIOUS accusations there that I have a hard time buying, such as Austin "forcing her" to sign a waiver exhausting him from getting arrested, etc. By that same effect, she's implying what exactly - that he would beat her to death if she didnt pull back on the issue? And then for her to bring the goddamn steroid issue into the fold here too, ugh. Austin should sue her ass for slander if this shit isnt true. While it is certainly not cool if she was battered and beaten by Austin, we're not talking about the same thing here. You think the dumb bitch would get that. Having a domestic dispute and cold blooded murder are two different things. A small percentage of men who have beaten their spouse would take that a step further and actually hurt a spouse seriously, perhaps getting out of hand and overboard, causing serious damage. An even much MUCH smaller percentage of twisted fucks like Benoit would take that even another step further and actually kill them maliciously. Unfortunately, there is nothing her, nor anyone, could have really done to prevent this, I truly believe. And just to clarify, I by all means am not condoning spousal abuse, but I just feel like Debra is trying to get noticed by spouting off her "comparisons" here. -
Dont get me wrong, I like Descent just fine, I just meant 1408 got the "clostrophobic feeling" down much better than Descent IMO. They are both overall two very good films.

Hmmm, I never knew Sullivan wanted Nancy to be topless on a ppv - so are they saying that led to the marriage going sour? Like WCW would have allowed that to happen in the first place though.....*confused* I always thought of Sullivan as a pretty stand up guy, all things considering. Maybe it was out of proving a point that he could seperate business from personal, but I was always shocked he gave Benoit the belt as his first move as booker of WCW at that time. -

Given the situation, its probably for the best. Complete and utter seperation from the name Chris Benoit in any way, shape, or form. -
I think, so in the near future they can protect their ass a little more, it would be nice to see them test a guy for roids more often than every 3-4 months. Their argument that Benoit "just couldnt" be on roids right now because he was tested on April 11 is pretty much a joke. I dont know if having mandatory psychiatric or psychological evaluations would work or not in the big scheme of things, because people can hide personal emotions pretty well. It's hard to say that anyone could have prevented this from happening, no matter what could have been done to prevent it. That in itself is why I feel WWE is not even close to responsible for this happening in any way, shape, or form. For all we know, Benoit could have went to sessions before, and just never really opened up. I dont even see why Taker would need to change his Tombstone move signal. That wasnt ever an homage or nod to Benoit in the first place, Taker always did that. In fact, in retrospect, I'm shocked they LET Benoit do it ever since it was "copyrighted" somewhat from Taker.

Yeah, i also wonder what Kevin Sullivan is thinking and feeling as well. Alot of people tried to paint Benoit as a saint, but he did plenty of stuff that contradicted that, like the fact that he stole his boss's wife for one...........the fact that the dude was on roids for so long..........The fact that he threatened Nancy before (even though most of us didn't know about the stuff from 2003). Like RedJEd, I always thought it was real foul what he did in WCW with Sullivan and Nancy and basically turning a storyline into real life. Not to defend Chris here...but you don't think Woman had something to do with her leaving Kevin sullivan as well...They didnt exactly have a fairy tale relationship either Well lets break it down like this - I think, given what happened here, its clear those two (Benoit and Nancy) should have never been together, it was an immoral maniever to do in the first place in the very least, and now look at the end result. Relationships rooted in deceit and the like normally dont end to this length, but it's certainly ironic how things went down from all this. She was married to a violent man himself with Sullivan, then cheats on him with Benoit, who ends up being the man who murders her and her only child (I would assume) in cold blood. -

It always amazed me how the general consensus when Benoit and others left WCW when Sullivan took over as booker was "bravo!" when Sullivan, even though this guy fucking stole his wife from him, even, to show no ill will, gave him the title the first night he took over as booker. But yet Sullivan seemed to be the bad guy in that whole deal, and Benoit even got others to jump ship with him from a situation rooted in personal emotion regarding Nancy more than anything. Sure, WCW fucked the guy over, as well as guys like Saturn, Deano, etc, etc, but I honestly dont think Benoit would have bailed like that if it wasnt for that whole love triangle BS. Thats a pretty unstable and unprofessional move to make, especially when the movement was made to caudle to him when Sullivan took over the book, even though Chris really pulled a dick move. -

As expected and inevitable with the canceling of the Calgary and Edmonton TV tapings on 7/16 and 7/17, the other WWE house shows scheduled for Western Canada on 7/14 in Sasakatoon and 7/15 in Regina, both Smackdown/ECW shows scheduled with Benoit as the local star, were canceled today. -wrestlingobserver.com, which has indirectly gotten a ton of free publicity on national news outlets from this situation. -

While I'm at it too - I did always think it was fucked up that Chris basically was a homewrecker and broke up Nancy and Kevin Sullivan moreless (probably not that cut and dry of a situation Im sure, but it was still really bizzare when you think of it). Perhaps we should have known what kind of guy Chris Benoit was from that action there. Although it takes two to tango in a situation like that so he's not the only guilty person there. Ironically enough, I always heard Sullivan was a violent man himself and that led Nancy to distance herself from him slowly. And then she goes with the guy who ends up killing her in a violent rage. I seriously have to wonder what is going through that guys' head right now - Kevin Sullivan. -

We dont really know what he's been though entirely and if it was "alot of stuff" but there is no excuse, nor really reasoning, that would make us really understand what the fuck this was all about. The best way I can summarize this all is that he was mentally VERY unstable, even back years ago, and the accumulation of such lead to this. I was basically saying in my opinion since Eddie died he had become a much different person.......very disturbed emotonally and mentally. But he was enough of the "same guy" in the WWE for them to think this is just typical weird Chris being weird, but even toward the end he got even weirder. It appears he changed into something he wasn't anywhere close to what he was before....but even close friends of his like Malenko pretty much said he was weird and no one was really close to him.... Don't take this as some excuse for him it is very horrible what he did, just seems like a man who slowly spiraled out of control into this horrible ending after he lost his best friend. He had spousal issues with a violent temper though way before Eddy passed on. I dont think it was the stress and frustrations of losing him that led to this. He had some serious mental issues that were probably always there. -

The crossface deal sounds like BS to me, also because of the fact that Daniel was apparently in his bed laying there, almost like he was killed in his sleep. Wasnt there some report that a bag was put over his head to suffocate him? -
I hope we never hear it again, actually.

Yeah I dont know what to think. If its the most accurate place or not, to list last night's timeline, Meltzer didnt post anything that Benoit himself was more than likely the murderer of Nancy and his son until 11:30 ET, which was after Raw, of course. There was suggestion earlier in the night from an Atlanta newspaper that they were treating the deaths as homicides, and then was changed to potential murder/suicide, but it was still, according to these reports, unknown if it was Nancy, Chris, or even their son themselves that did the kills and then offed themself. But Dave could have very well not have posted news he found out earlier due to watching Raw, etc. Point being is that WWE most certainly, I would think, would have not even suggested the idea of honoring a murderer if they would have known such information by 8pm ET, when they went on the air. Around that last hour of the show, it seemed, to a degree, that the testimonials and demeanor of some of the announcers appeared a little different, so I am thinking around half-way through the show, the people still around the arena with the company started hearing this news of Chris himself being targeted as the culprit of all of this. When the show is already happening, its hard to be in the shoes of Vince and others to decide what to do from there. -

Being informed of the death and the suggestion of the murder-suicide, though, are two different things. Sure, WWE and others most definately knew of the deaths before Raw began, but I do not recall any formal announcement that investigators were treating it as a Chris Benoit murder-suicide until later in the evening.
