  1. Yeah that drop on the announcers front really looked legit bad. With that said, it was a great spot upon another spot and just made that match just that more unique. This was right after the announcers table spot with the Angle slam, in which Angle seemed to be really fucked up in the lower back also from it. Two really serious looking spots there - I bet Angle was sore as fuck last night and into today. Totally agreed with Cole - he was extremely annoying last night, almost braggadocious for some reason in areas. He is clearly getting as many lines fed to him by Vince as Coach is. Since he's been doing Smackdown since 99, there really is no excuse for such ineptness. While I doubt it will happen, I would much rather see Styles-Tazz on Smackdown and Ross/Lawler just doing Raw again at this point.

    TNA news

Ok so DH continues to troll in the TNA folder, and he/she also attacks people in the WWE folder for being unfair, etc, etc. When can this person be banned? They offer no insight to either this or the WWE folder. It's absurd a ban hasnt occured months ago. There is no such thing as even "discussion" with this person. It's pathetic. We've given him/her enough chances to "cool off" or get a grip or whatever. Cmon mods! This shit just makes me not want to post here regularly because when a decent subject always comes around, here is DH to piss on it and all is lost as everyone just wants to bitch back to DH- which is understandable since the whole point appears to be for DH to just get people pissed off in the first place.
  3. Yeah it will be live for two hours that night, they already are running commercials for it here and there and on wwe.com. Also, it was originally supposed to be a Raw only show (since NBC didnt want to promote a show on another network) but somehow, thats changed also and will be a joint brand show. All in all its a sweet deal overall. Hoping they air it in HD also. As mentioned in another post, they are apparently going with Angle/Taker and Edge/Cena for the show, with likely a few more matches added (hoping for an Orton/Rey rematch and HHH/RVD or something) and I wouldnt be surprised to see them try to have Hogan appear here to set up something, anything, for Mania.
  4. Star ratings for Angle/Taker? I just watched it again and I'll be damned if this wasn't closing in on a ***** match. Nothing was really sloppy at all in the execution of the holds, etc. Solid top to bottom match pace that delivered. Tremendous near falls/submissions. Hot crowd, even more impressive since both were working as faces. Etc, etc, I could go on and on on how solid this was. Unfortunately, I can't see the proposed SNME rematch anywhere near this quality but you'd have to think they may try. I'd go with a solid **** 1/2 on this one. The only things really dropping it off from being pretty damn flawless was the spot where Taker was going to launch Angle over the top from a boot to the ass, and it basically got botched. Also, Angle fucked up and put the intial anklelock on the wrong side when he did it coming off from the legdrop on the ring apron. Other than that, hot damn that was one of the best WWE matches in year. Period.
  5. Any thoughts on a possible SNME card yet, at least with the SD side? If they do in fact go with a possible 4 way w/ Angle v. Orton v. Rey v. Taker at Mania (which I honestly think is the best idea at this point to kind of give that title match something unique for Mania, I could certainly see them mixing up those four on that show in two seperate singles matches- best idea probably being to just have rematches from this ppv tonight. Taker/Angle would be non-title so Taker could go over and Rey over Orton to give him back some credibility leading into Mania.
  6. One other thing about this ppv, I felt like it was worth the $$$ tonight, but I am still not even close to pumped to Mania yet, which should be going hand in hand most of the time when you feel like it was a good ppv. It's just weird how the ringwork was very strong tonight overall and it really overshadowed the inept "appears to be" booking for the supposed biggest ppv of the year.
  7. Overall this ppv was quite acceptable with the ring work but I'm still concerned on what they are doing with Mania.... Opening match was a decent opener and a decent match for WWE CW "standards." So I would imagine Helms v. Kash at Mania? Lashley/JBL was also quite alright, but not feeling Lashley/Finley. How about a triple threat or four way w/ Benoit at Mania - for the US title perhaps? Damn I was not feeling that Orton/Angle exchange AT ALL backstage. And what a lame way to start a storyline if they still are anticipating forcing down Orton/Angle at Mania. Dont really get the point of putting over a team they just threw together (Hardy/Tatanka) over MNM. Tatanka didnt look that bad, most in thanks to the heels selling everything like crazy. Tatanka/Hardy is a joke of a team though and I have no desire to actually see this team in a title match with MNM. Please not at Mania!!! Benoit/Booker was very solid stuff, I was marking out for the sharpshooter/crossface finish sequence. Phenominal! Orton/Rey match actually wasn't too bad, but what a lame duck finish and then to tell that story after the match - they just HAVE to put Rey in the title match now or the guy is totally buried. They don't even bury guys that bad on the way out of the company, they just have to do a clean job and bow out gracefully, and not have the annoucing and general storyline being that you are a dumbshit for falling "into the trap." Taker/Angle was really strong stuff, something I havent seen in WWE in a long time, and just thought how this was supposed to be at Mania originally and how tremendous is would have fit on that card. Adding in the Taker streak and that Angle would be able to end it via a clean win like that would have made it worthwhile. The way there was no Henry run-in and then there was Taker claiming he's not done with Angle makes me wonder if we get some Teddy Long segment this week where there is proof on replay that Angle's shoulders were also down on the mat or whatever. So Taker gets a shot at Mania. Orton is in but under BS means, so he can still get credibility (or so they think) if they maybe still give him the belt at Mania. And Rey would get in since he was "screwed" in the Orton match. And you got the fatal four-way there - Angle v. Orton v. Rey v. Taker. Maybe Vince pulled back on Henry and he won't even be on the Mania card?

    Anyone watch Lucha Libre anymore?

They are still about 6 months back on CMLL and if they decide to go back to showing AAA, we're talking 9 months or so. Honestly, the stuff is great lately with CMLL stuff with the Perros Del Mal really starting to take off and Atlantis slowly going down the heel road, but what I would give for two current hours of CMLL each week and another hour of current AAA. They should bridge the time gap here with using Lucha De Vuelta or whatever its called to start airing where they are at now with the Sat show, and the Sat show could be the current stuff - thats the Sunday show on Galavision that basically just shows repeats of programming 2-3 months even before whats out now.

    WANT: Royal Rumble Matches VHS

    Got em all if interested....
  10. Isn't Booker being programmed with Boogeyman at Mania though? The Booker run-in during Orton/Rey makes sense with the storyline with Booker/Orton, but its just completely lame to see them actually go with Booker/Rey at Mania. Thats a match I have zero desire to see. If they must job out Rey, why not add him to Mania in an interpromotional match w/ RVD, and to take that a step further, have it be a MITB match? Or have a Benoit/Rey match in Eddy's honor for the US title? And very surprised to see that really stupid pick for Hardy's partner at NWO. Unless this is all a swerve to lead to Hardy going heel w/ Melina managing and being some sort of bodyguard, thats just a total waste of ppv time. Still not sure if I will bother even going to the bar to see this ppv, but I'm starting to think probably not.
  11. Not if he doesnt get pinned in the three way matches w/ Styles and Daniels, yet, say, Daniels gets the title back when he pins Styles. Then Joe can leave the X division and still have his no loss record in tact. Bottom line is that they cant have an X guy beat him when they need to move him up higher on the roster chain.
  12. The only thing with the ROH deal with Aries-Joe, is that Joe was already world champion - he had no way to go any above where he already was. Joe is X champ but needs the forwarding ability to be pushed even stronger in the world title scene. So comparing Aries-Joe to there here and now isnt really logical. With that said, you have to consider that to get pushed into the ME world title level, you just can't have a guy beat him for the X title. It ruins that transition into world title contention. He needs to be protected, and unfortunately thats at the expense of not putting over an X division guy over Joe. Whats going to have to happen is that Daniels will likely win the blowoff of the three ways (over Styles), so he's still the stronghold of the X division, and then from there you have an upset Joe that never lost his belt move up to the world title level. Who knows what to do with Styles.
  13. My thoughts exactly. Since they ended up making the booking, they shouldnt be buried, ESPECIALLY to this degree. The ROH gig was an extra payday for them and it sounded like Aries and Strong were already there, so why not? If they didnt make it to the TNA ppv, then, yes, they should have been reprimanded hard for it, but this is just setting an example towards other who have done much worse than this.

Suncoast/Sam Goody going out of business!

I think even if some Suncoasts arent going out of business, they are still having those sales right now across the board as they may be trying to simplify and downgrade their overall inventory in their stores that are even going to still be up and running. For example, was at the Suncoast at Mall of America yesterday and there was ridiculous deals all over the place there (30-50 percent off if not more) but an employee there guaranteed they arent going out of business. Am pissed since Suncoast was basically the only place in my area with movie related figures and now they shut down here in Mankato. Damn.
  15. Here is the article on the Friday the 13th remake...from Fango Various sources across the web are rumbling (and grumbling) about the latest news on New Line’s next Jason Voorhees outing, as the Hollywood trades officially confirmed that Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes production shingle are assisting the studio in bringing a new FRIDAY THE 13TH to the big screen. One certainly had reason to presume that FRIDAY would get a straight redux, given Platinum’s track record with the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and AMITYVILLE HORROR remakes—but that doesn’t appear to be the case at all. It’s still unclear what this FRIDAY, penned by former Fango scribe Mark Wheaton (who did the final script work on THE MESSENGERS for Ghost House Pictures and the Pang Bros.), will deliver to the legions of Voorhees fans who continue to nourish themselves on 10 straight-up Jason splatter-sodes and one VS. entry. Suffice to say, rumors have run rampant; for some answers, Fango turned to Plantinum Dunes’ Brad Fuller, who’s co-producing the film with partners Andrew Form and Michael Bay. “We don’t know exactly what it’s going to be yet; it’s definitely not going to be set after FREDDY VS. JASON or JASON X,” Fuller tells Fango, addressing their film’s place in the FRIDAY universe. “This was such a juicy title, we couldn’t pass it up. So we’ve been talking to Wheaton, and we’re figuring it out. Jason didn’t really start killing until FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2, so this isn’t a remake of the first one—Jason’s definitely going to be killing people in our movie. He didn’t wear the hockey mask until the third film [pictured], and our Jason is definitely going to wear the mask—so this is how we’re going about it right now. “It feels to me like it’s going to be a re-imagining of…” Fuller pauses, trying to find the right word. “I don’t know if there is a term for it…it’s going to be like what we did with THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, that’s the best analogy I have. There are going to be things you recognize, but we will make it a distinctively different story. We’re going to keep all of the things that are expected [of a FRIDAY THE 13TH film] in there.” Early reports stated that New Line was eyeing a release date of Friday, October 13th of this year. As far as this is concerned, Fuller is remaining realistic. Sticking to that deadline would involve nothing less than meticulous yet swift preparation. “We’re not planning on meeting that October date,” he reveals. “It was something that was originally discussed, but we don’t think we should write a script, find a director, cast a movie, and then make a film [that fast]. It deserves time, and we don’t want to rush this. The October date doesn’t feel like something we will be doing; plus we have a movie [TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE ORIGIN] coming out a week before. We’re not going let a release date dictate the film’s quality.” And who will play the man behind the mask? It’s still too early to tell, but contrary to the recent gossip, it’s not going to be CHAINSAW’s hulking Andrew Bryniarski. “In our mind, he is Leatherface,” says Fuller. “With those two icons, you can’t mix them. I don’t see Andrew Bryniarski playing Jason.” —Ryan Rotten -----My thoughts on this is that it MIGHT be alright, but I'd much rather see an actual sequal than whatever this is supposed to be. It kind of might turn out that way though (as a sequal of sorts) depending how they do this. Bridging Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X perhaps, but indirectly and unofficially? At first I thought this remake would be based on the first film entirely, which I totally disagreed with, so it's good to see that really isn't the case here. Gotta say I'm intruiged how they are going to do this (they did ok on the TCM, but I thought Amityville was god awful) but I am still fearing the worst.

    iMPACT Rating back to 0.8

I think those three guys you mentioned (Lethal, Sabin, Shelley) are clear examples of guys they will move up to better X division spots judging by the last ppv's booking, along with maybe Cide and Lo-Ki as well hopefully. They may want to consider Truth as a X division guy as well, as I could easily see him be placed in the world title picture and generally flounder due to the booking of so many in that hunt. I really dont think the answer with Joe in getting him out of the X division stuff and moving him to world title material is having an X Division guy go over him just to generate some interest in that person and to elevate them. It's obvious Joe is one of the cornerstones of this company right now and you have to be careful in situations like that and as such, since they need to put him in the world title picture, I just dont think you can book him to lose to a guy they are building in the X division. That first loss is so vital and I think should be saved until after Joe wins the title and he finally jobs out the belt, whenever that would be. Even jobbing him out to either Daniels or Styles is pushing it right now, much less guys being booked lower on the totem pole. TNA just has to play into the monster heel role for Joe as strongly as possible. I understand the thought behind it though (an immediate "WOW, he's for real" towards a guy who beats Joe) but since Joe needs to be "upgraded" into world title contention, you just can't rehash a concept that worked fine in ROH for Aries-Joe, for example. With that said, Joe can easily be protected in the upcoming three way finale(s) with Styles and Daniels with Daniels probably doing the job for at least one of them (Destination X, Joe goes over there) and Daniels should go over in one of them as well (Lockdown, Daniels pins Styles) - that is, if they decide to do two consecutive three way gimmick matches as seems to be the plan right now. All in all that still shows Joe is dominant on these guys, but Styles and Daniels still got a nice rub out of it and even went over themselves once in the three way series of matches. Ultimately the blowoff I feel should be Daniels winning the belt, moving Styles and Joe into other feuds outside of the X division and then moving Daniels into other feuds within the X division - guys like Lethal, Sabin, etc, and Low Ki would be one of those guys that you could do a nice Daniels-Ki feud with, playing into the XXX past.

    House of the Dead 2

Are they releasing this on DVD upcoming? I dont even really want to see it on Sci-Fi edited if they actually will have a DVD release.

    When a Stranger Calls (remake)

I think the bonfire thing was an excuse for all of her friend's cell phones not getting a signal out there so she couldn't call them for help. Thats probably the best explanation with the gym scene, what shitty exposition that was if so.

I'm not sure how they would build to it exactly, but I think a Christian-Styles match is $$$$ on a future ppv on a total side note. Cool to see TNA have a post-ppv promo with Brown explaining the title shot situation. One has to think Jarrett will sneak in there somewhere or else Christian-Jarrett in a cage at Lockdown is going to be underwhelming. Would rather see Jarrett added to the D-X match than having a seperate rematch at Lockdown likely.

Apolo really blew it since they gave him the benefit of the doubt last time when he really should have been canned. So he does it again the next ppv? What a ridiculous way to burn a bridge. It's too bad since finally, Apolo actually had some potential as a heel in this LAX group.

    When a Stranger Calls (remake)

There was a post at a horror message board I go to, and this guy was right f'n on with my thoughts on this film. I ended up going to it out of boredom on opening weekend and I cant recall a movie in recent memory that I felt so ripped off from paying matinee price for. Even completely smoked out didnt help this one...his message below..... "I saw this on Friday night, and like most of the others here, I thought it was utterly hopeless. Other adjectives that describe this mess would include inane, bloodless, gutless, shallow, predictable, poorly written, laughable, and terrible. " Basically, I felt like I was watching an episode of Goosebumps. " My additional thoughts is that this is completely geared to young teenage females as I was surrounded in the theatre but nothing more but that. Of course they all were jumping and screaming at the most blatantly cliche shit EVER (like the cat jumping out of the corner, keys falling out of girls hand when she is trying to escape into her car, etc, etc) which made it even worse to sit through. The young girl in the movie is a hot piece of ass but thats still not enough to make this watchable at all.
  23. RedJed

And of course it had to get worse

Yeah its going to be bad. But of course it wont be the real ME, likely placed middle of the card to save the big moment, HHH beating Cena, for the end of the show. Anyway what seems like an obvious thought of having a fatal four way at least with Angle (champ) v. Orton (who would lose via screwjob to Rey at NWO) v. Rey (who of course won RR) v. Taker (who will get screwed over at NWO) isnt even being considered. Taker working the title match makes sense to play into Mania 13 AND the unbeaten streak could be also on the line here. Rey and Orton are obvious why they should be in the match, Rey because of the decent draw he's became and this Eddy stuff, and Orton because WWE brass wants him there.

What is the point by now? Adding that new addition won't do much for it anyways. Time to move on. I dunno, it might really be the ultimate finale of a tremendous series of matches with these guys that they've all had with each other since mid-last year. I'm really feeling another rematch is in order for some reason, just to finally blow off the whole thing. Either this or a cage match at Lockdown would work.

OAO Against All Odds PPV thread

I'm kind of in the same boat that I have this shitty feeling that Christian will get fucked over and either in a rematch Jarrett wins, or even worse would be if they just give the title back to Jarrett on a ref technicality that he officially should have been DQed by Slick Johnson for the lowblows and as such, retains the title. Hell, I think even then going back and having Christian then beating Jarrett clean again to get back the title is horribly unproductive as they had already done the chase angle so well done, and then to fuck it up in the aftermath and then try to go back to it just shows their ass more than anything. But anyway I really hope I'm wrong. The fact that the crowd legitimately chanted "please retire" at Jarrett speaks volumes on how big of a mistake it would be to let JJ anywhere near the title again. At most, a match at Destination X with Christian and Monte Brown and Jarrett in a three way may be acceptable, but thats about it. Sounds like they are doing Brown/Christian instead so I wonder what this means for JJ at Destination X? Raven-Jarrett? Truth-Jarrett? A rematch with Christian-JJ is even pushing it as far as something worth even promoting, as I just don't see the draw in a rematch particularly, but it will probably happen. Watched the ppv again last night and putting it all together, this has to be in at least the top five TNA shows of all time (weekly and monthly) in terms of just overall value to the show after all is said and done. The undercard was pretty strong (maybe because of the new CEO?) and the top matches definately delivered. Random thoughts.... Damn did they bust their asses in that opening match or what? One of the better Naturals matches I've seen, and most definately Aries and Strong's best stuff since they came in. I just hope there is no punishment for Aries/Strong at all, as they showcased their value here. The X Division four way was alright, but it just lacked direction at all. Glad to see Lethal get the nod. Shelly and Lethal should work a program while guys like Williams and Bentley are more aimed towards x division tags in the future hopefully. They gotta let go this Machete guy ASAP, as he just doesnt fit in LAX and the group as a whole really fell flat on the show here. If they keep it up, the group is going to go nowhere fast, and the LAX idea has great potential. Konnan can't do much these days so its imperative they get someone to carry the load while Cide and Konnan heal up. Machete is the farthest thing from that guy. They really gotta tell Billy Gunn to seriously consider changing up his look - it might have worked with him looking half as ridiculous as he does now back in 98, but now he just looks plain embarrasing and the James Gang team is just begging for some credibility right about now - I cant get over just how un-over these guys are right now. Road Dogg seems to be trying, but Gunn is just a unintentional comedy act that nobody can buy in that gay as fuck getup. Killings showing up in the surprisingly hot Duds-Team Canada match didnt make much sense. Where can they even go with that other than another match with Roode? Killings deserves more than this, but its good to see they at least arent completely forgetting about him either. Three way match was definately great, but again, just a small nudge below their earlier match last year. The finish seemed kind of out of nowhere and I think another 5-10 minutes would have really put this match on the map long term. Some sick bumps though and definately will be MOTY candidate. Both Sabin and Dutt were both under some different injuries in this match, Sabin with the legit ankle problem and apparently Dutt was knocked silly at some point in the match (that might explain his odd behaviour while being handcuffed) and with that said, the match was pretty decent, other than a few botches by Dutt. Much better than expected. Main event just had all kind of right things that they did in it, even to the Hebner role in the match. Told a great story and post-match made it seem like this was the biggest moment ever in TNA and was a serious turning point in the company.
