    OAO 2/4 Impact Thread

Yah he did that just recently. Interesting spin they put on that Global Impact segment there as it basically made it look like TNA ran house shows directly down there, I even heard they may be airing a few of those matches soon on Impact too.

    OAO 2/4 Impact Thread

I tell ya what, that Styles-Lethal match was fantastic for what little time they had to work with. Have they worked against each other much in ROH? In a strange coincidence, Sun Sports in Florida is airing TNA Xplosion right now head to head with its national show on Spike. So they dont even hardly syndicate Xplosion but the one place they do its running the SAME TIME as Impact?!!! WTF?!!!
  3. This is the fucked up thing with all of this. If Edge would have went over, you save two careers no doubt, as Edge would continue the title run (and even if he had to job at Mania to HHH, at least he would be put over til then) and Cena would have survived a loss and probably been more interesting because of it, as you could easily lead to a Cena heel turn and then put him against Hogan at Mania and try to draw interest that way. But the way they did this, you are risking killing off any momentum not just Edge had, but Cena as well, as now I have a feeling its just going to go back to fans booing Cena right away come tomorrow. Its like you are punishing Cena by giving him the belt again, as absurd as that sounds.
  4. All there is hope for at this point is that the crowd tomorrow and maybe the next week shits on Cena so bad they pull back and have Edge beat Cena cleanly for the title on a Raw soon (or at very latest, SNME) and then build to RVD v. Edge or something half interesting for Mania. And then you go with Cena (as a bitter heel almost like Bret was in 97) v Hogan at Mania. And HHH v. Rey in a perfectly acceptable interpromotional match.
  5. If they are set on HHH/Cena at Mania, they might as well try and book another double turn during that match because if they dont, that is what it's going to end up being like anyway as I'm pretty sure the crowd is going to shit on Cena again pretty soon with him champ. Pretty ironic there is even a situation like this considering the time and the fact that Austin/Bret's double turn was at the last Mania in Chicago. Kind of a cool possibility there if they want to do it - and like I said, will likely have to anyway or else Cena is just going to be completely buried. Not too excited about it but could be cool or at least draw some logic into WHY they have to do this. Surprised by some of the results tonight, could go alot of different ways but judging by what Meltzer said about the winner not even being in a ME position at Mania, I'm thinking Rey will be jobbing to Orton next month at NWO. If thats true and Rey doesnt get put in AT LEAST one of the title matches as a third wheel in a triple threat match, it's really unfortunate to treat the Rumble as such an afterthought of sorts. Edge v. Hogan now at Mania? Rey v. RVD in a MITB match w/ others? Shane v. HBK?

    OAO 1/28 Impact Thread

Other than the Sting promo, which I thought was very strong, believable, and generally just strong for an angle in TNA, the rest of the show was pretty much just there and didnt really offer anything too groundbreaking. I did like the Rhino-Abyss angle from the match, which will probably lead to a rematch at AAO. TNA needs to continue to try to incorporate angles into programs that make people talk and take notice. THe Rhino-Abyss thing is kind of an example of that.
  7. Ahhh yes, we all just loathe WWE in every form, so by default we just HAVE to LOOOOOVE TNA. Uh huh. If everyone who didnt like WWE just comes over here and creams over the TNA product, wouldnt we have alot more people posting here? You're wanting WWE hate gone in the WWE folder, so does alot of people. But the answer is NOT to turn the same thing you are bitching about into something of the same kind here. It's counterproductive.
  8. There is, ironically enough, alot of "spin jobs and hypocrisy" in your statements here. Let me just grab one example... The ratings/numbers. Given the time that the show airs, and the general state of the business (in that it's struggling in general for viewership), yes, a .9 rating IS good. Now maybe years ago, it would be a different case, when everyone's ratings and numbers were respectable and dare I say, kick ass, across the board. But WWE has fallen down to the 3s and 4s from the days of the 6 and 7s, and the ppv numbers are, generally speaking, not groundbreaking these days, give and take a few ppv shows that are the exception. It all comes down to what the network was hoping for as well, which was lower than what was produced. So of course it wasnt a failure. If TNA isnt on the rise, then why is WWE internally worried about their growth this coming year? I would love to go further breaking apart your post, but I highly doubt you will get it anyway and will just continue to bitch about the same damn thing you are doing.
  9. Are you really serious? Wow, and to think you are attacking OTHERS for being naive about a product - good lord.....
  10. The WWE desn't market itself as family friendly entertainment the way TNA does Stop making lame-ass excuses for your jaded particularness to rip TNA a new asshole everytime you get to. There is no even logic into what you just said there, because WWE was, has, and will continue to market itself for families, dare I say more than TNA ever has or will. So the point is basically, well there isnt one. But just to clarify, where are you figuring that TNA is marketing itself as a family friendly promotion more than WWE in the first place?!! Thats an insane statement, even by your standards which aren't very high on the totem pole of respectable, fair, and logical statements towards the promotion in general. So there are two people here who are apparently so upset that TNA gets any positive publicity from us or from various wrestling journalists. You know what, take a step out of your bias and maybe realize that both TNA and WWE has good and bad points, just like every other company. People are going to rip on TNA or WWE for those bad points. People are going to praise them for their good points. You, very obviously, want everyone to just hate TNA from top to bottom just because Jarrett runs the show there. While it is not productive for Jarrett to run it, which nobody is really questioning, its taking that to the next step in which your opinions are all messed up. Sure, Jarrett has stroke, there is no doubt, but to say he uses the company exclusively as a promoter for himself and as such, all talent is apparently held down there, you're way off. I'd agree with you more if TNA ppvs didnt have X division matches as main events (furthermore, how is having the X division showcased heavily on TNA programming "holding a grudge against WWE?" ) AND if Jarrett actually would hold down talent in a sense that they dont even get a chance (meaning the time alllowed in a match and the context of it) to work great matches, but the fact is the matter is that HE DOES. And they do get the push following such great matches most times - look at the follow up that Joe, Styles, and Daniels has gotten since the three way in Sept. All three are very much in the top 5 bracket of stars in that company, have been showcased and profiled heavily since the Spike debut, and they are following up with them from Sept now going full circle with a rematch that may very well be the main event on the next ppv, or at very worst, right below it. We all know he shouldnt be champ and shouldnt try to hold himself in a higher regard than he is, but that doesnt mean the entire company is just a pile of shit. You're so hypocritical since you, I, and every fucking fan with a brain knows that in essense TNA is the same as WWE in that they are both moreless "unofficially" ran by guys with over-rated capabilities in Jarrett and HHH. The same politics are there for both of them - yes, they have held talents down at times, and more times than not, look in the best interests of themselves and not the company as a whole. But they also have not prevented people that are getting over to, well, get over. So the shit you are bitching about is happening just about the same in WWE.

    Joe vs. AJ

Given the fact is that whatever gimmick they are adding to this match is a deal they did once, it has to likely be a triple threat ladder match, I would imagine. The only other idea I thought of, and this would play into the storyline quite well, would be an I Quit match, but it might come off weird with it being an I quit match with three workers. Otherwise, not sure what they will do but its good to see they officially announced it as a three way now.
  12. Had to start this (or perhaps its lost in months past archives) but what was the most worthless, no value whatsoever, film you have ever had to sit through? Some films can be so bad they may be intentionally hilarious or at least worth watching, akin to the train wreck theory, but there are just some that are so stupid and ridiculous, they shouldnt even have been released in the first place. Most of us know the difference. I just had to sit through All Souls Day last night and, even after a fuckin blunt, this damn movie had NOTHING to offer. Apparently portrayed as a horror film, this seemed to be the farthest thing from it sans possibly a full minute or two of low budget gore. Can't emphasize how horrible this film was. Has anyone seen this besides me? It's definately NOT recommended.
  13. That random Rock throw-out of a name in a HHH promo is totally different than Jarrett throwing Jericho's name out. They had to be looking for a general response from the crowd when Jarrett did this. Rock's name is thrown around in WWE so often it's not meant to provoke a response. By the way Jarrett just randomly threw his name out there, I think there was an attempt to get people buzzing about the possibility. It didnt happen. Hardly anyone popped at the name throwing. Think of it kind of how Hogan name called Austin out on the homecoming show. This is what I think they were going for there, and it fell on deaf ears. So you think TNA will all of a sudden magically pull out all the stops for advertising if Jericho showed up? I have no idea where you can assume that since this Sting thing was supposed to be so ridiculously huge, that NOW is the time (if not a long time ago actually, when TNA first went to monthly ppvs basically) to really push hard on the advertising. They just spent a half a million on him for gods sakes! I'd love to see some poll from casual fans on how they feel about Jericho. I still think alot of us here are over-inflating his value and still, nobody has proven that as wrong other than just saying "he has credibility." At very best his value is a toss up due to the inept WWE booking of him.
  14. You need to explain yourself much more than that because to say investing a half a million is safe to a company still in the red with all of this after years of being involved with this is risky as hell. I understand the idea of investing before it can turn a profit, but they cannot go too overboard with the money, since they have already basically done so for a long time already. They have to draw the line somewhere and realize that spending all of this money on stars is pointless if there is nothing to warrant it's return. My thing is why the hell TNA hasnt gotten their advertising part of the company much more streamlined if they are blowing all this money on talent. Its ridiculous. Spending a half a million towards a really solid advertising agency would be much more conducive to its future success than just spending shitloads of $$$ on guys to bring in. Hell, spending a half million on advertising alone would be better.
  15. I guess to me, he doesnt seem that much extraordinarily different than Christian, and he surely doesnt deserve a half a million contract as such. He's talented as hell and such, but bringing him in wouldnt move any mountains that arent being moved already. Even Sting himself doesnt deserve that and he's a proven established name. The main problem with TNA is that no matter who they get, they need to learn to advertise correctly that they have those stars, so people tune in in the first place. They still havent gotten that after all these years. As far as the WWE wrestler thing, I think most of them know there is an alternative place to go already with TNA - it could be reinforced with a Jericho jump but the perception is already there. Christian did it already and I think that spoke volumes. Sting also being brought in just further established the value TNA can be to wrestlers when they got a guy basically burned out on the business for years back in the game. Hell, it seems clear this perception thing is already happening if two un-named "big time" workers are all of a sudden interested in TNA. So you're telling me casual fans who dont follow wrestling normally would immediately pick up on Jericho in TNA like alcohol to a fire? I'm not convinced and I am even a fan of his. Again - other than maybe a guy like Austin or Rock and quite possibly Lesnar MAYBE, investing that much into a talent is risky at best anyway you slice it. Especially if have a pretty unproven track record of drawing as a main eventer consistently - which is the WWE's fault, mind you, but its still the reality of the situation - Jericho is totally in this group. He's as much of a legitimate draw as Jarrett has always been, at this point. He still has plenty to prove to warrant a half a million dollar contract for a limited amount of dates per year. Fuck, didnt Goldberg, when he was in theory still very much hot and a draw, make a million a year for a full schedule? See my point here? Half a million for limited dates, unless a guy is totally proven to draw, is company suicide still for TNA, at least right now. Sting just barely broke that barrier of an acceptable name to warrant a high price, but it was still clearly too much money going to him. One other thing - if Jericho was this huge star some are saying, there should have been a wild crazy pop when Jarrett tossed his name out there in that recent promo. There wasnt. This is not Rock/Austin material here we are talking with Jericho.
  16. God, I cant get over how people are thinking that ANYONE is worth a half a million contract for TNA. Jericho, especially, is a hot commodity, no doubt about it, but worth THAT much?!!! He's totally unproven to warrant that much money being thrown his way. Lesnar, to his credit, at least has proven he can draw under the right circumstances. Jericho never really has been at that same level, sans a small run with the world title that went nowhere - granted thats not his fault, but it still didnt help his case that he could move mountains as some seem to think here. Take a step back out of the smark mindset and ask yourself again if Jericho is worth a half of a million, seriously.
  17. I think you are being a little too "smart markish" about Stings actual draw to the company, Brazil. I think he's much more valuable than you are led to believe when you take this Jericho equation aside and stop comparing Jericho to Sting. Bottom line is that him, nor anyone for that matter, isn't likely worth a half million for the dates TNA guys work (which arent much) if you ask me. Did you see Final Resolution and did you see the response he got from the crowd? People still care about him. In fact those supposed unique qualities you are saying Jericho has....well Sting also has them and I am not even a fan of Sting particularly. Open your eyes, man. BUT if we do want to compare Sting to Jericho, to casual fans, Sting still is and will continue to be more of a name than Jericho is, sad but true. The fact that he hasnt been around in years and now its been proven, he can still go, is incentive enough for the casual fan to check out TNA, just as long as they KNOW about that he's actually in the company, which is a whole thread/issue with TNA in itself. Jericho, to me, has about the same, if not maybe a tad more, value than Christian had when he debut and currently still does. So why hasnt fans jumped en masse to TNA after Christian signed? Lets be realistic here, marks just dont fully know who Jericho is - true, a great handful might, but not most. Sting would likely still be on a top ten lists (or perhaps top five) for marks or casual fans of wrestling - right up there with Rock, Austin, Hogan, Flair, Goldberg, etc, etc. That is, bottom line, the reality of this. Fact of the matter is this - why would TNA offer Jericho 500K in the first place? With Sting, there were alot of variables in that signing - such as that Sting constantly had WWE by the balls for leverage, his personal life and how that played into staying out of the business so long, etc, etc. While I dont agree they should have went that high to get them, I can at least understand why they did it. He was in demand. Jericho isnt a guy who can turn the company around by his hands only. Sting may be able to generate a substantial increase in viewership, as long as TNA understands the concept of advertising their product so people know he's there. Hell, they didnt even offer Foley that kind of $$$ but then again he wasnt going to be a full time worker on the roster either so thats kind of pointless deal there. Jericho, be it by his own hands or not, has not been around long enough or has been that much of a draw now or in the past to fully demand or be offered that kind of money. Plain and simple. I think he's a great asset to TNA possibly if he decides to jump, but at 500K? No way - its too much of a risk. Sting has established name value to the masses and it appears a rejuvinated passion towards the company that will have him try his damndest to earn his pay. Also, the point made here intially is kind of confusing. Anyone would sign up with TNA for 500K a year other than the extremely huge names. Whats your point exactly other than apparently TNA should have scooped up Jericho for 500K instead of Sting? Because its far from proven they COULD have just because he said a flippant comment that for that money, he'd go there. Its pure speculation at most.

The problem is that it doesn't make sense in any figurative way, either. Nothing has happened that would even REMOTELY justify Jarrett taking this position. There's no way to rationalize it. Its just poor storytelling on TNA's part. Umm actually there is a clear reason why Jarrett claimed that - he's a chickenshit heel who, in that typical form, claims he did everything and then some to his opponents, and which its clear to anyone else that its BS. Typical chickenshit heel formula. Pretty much in the consensus about last night, wasnt that great of a show really. Styles and Moore in a street fight match should have really been much better, but again this is another reason why they need to be two hours so badly, as hardly anything gets over.

This Black Cherry Vanilla Coke just tastes like Vanilla Coke with a very subtle cherry taste intially, that isnt there usually after the first few drinks of a can/bottle. Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper is still better.

I was never much of a WCW fan, so yes. Track down his work with Regal in WCW. Any PPVs? Uncensored 96 with Regal-Finley was fucking fantastic - with Finley legit busting Regals orbital or cheek bone up right in front of the camera. Looked vicious and violent as hell, which was rare for the time in WCW.

*SPOILER* No Way Out Main Event Revealed

I am at least hoping we get a really strong Angle/Taker match at NWO instead of a no-finish leading to either a triple threat with them two and Orton, or a Four way match with those three and Rey at Mania. Angle/Taker with a clean win by Angle (I think Taker should go heel very soon)should ideally lead to Angle/Orton and Taker/Benoit or Rey at Mania.

Damn I didnt know WWE was actually showing any programming in HD right now. EDIT: Finley-Hardy was actually alright, for what it was.
  25. Your Jarrett hate = TNA sucks in every way possible is old and beaten to a pulp. Either add some interesting discussion to the board or PLEASE stay out. So what the fuck is exactly your point with "good news for people who are sick of WWE getting trashed by TNA and the internet in general" and just what the fuck does that have to do with ANYTHING we are discussing here? Its like you dont even try to add to the discussion and instead just piss on it. Its very sad.
