The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

Couldn't they just do a triple threat and still unify the belts that way? Or for that matter, they could do Rey v. Bourne v. Swagger for the ECW title? I really hope we don't see the expected Rey/JBL deal for the IC title, just seems like we've seen that matchup so many times, much like Cena/Edge and Orton/HHH, and it just comes across as thrown together, even if Bradshaw is supposed to retire here. Although you have to consider that Rey did "retire" Bradshaw once already, so the story is somewhat there in place for another go-around.

    Bonaduce: Shaking the TNA Foundation

Yeah, it has to be Bashir, that was my first thought too. While Bonaduce looks a little awkward there in the ring, he gives it 110 percent (at least from what I saw on the CCW show) and he does have that charisma factor going for him.

Definately true there. Didn't he work an indy show not too long ago?

    Bonaduce: Shaking the TNA Foundation

Bonaduce has a radio show in Philly and at least has some wrestling background with the CCW show......that's typical PR stuff that TNA does alot actually to generate local ticket sales, by having a local celebrity of sorts work a match. May not even be on the ppv and just a dark match. WCW even used to do it way way way back when. Plus, the guy can kind of work alright, so I'm willing to give a benefit of a doubt on that one.' As far as the other "celebrity" that TNA is bringing in, that Survivor winner, that's pretty much a joke. But I'll be interested to see how she works in the ring. I remember her from the show and she is definately hot as fuck. As long as they are paying these two a shitload of money, ala Johnny Fairplay, it can't hurt too much at least. I do fear, though, that they are giving them more than either of these "celebrities" deserve.

    24 -- Season 7

Yeah, why the hell did they spoil that in the magazine? Especially since they really didn't build much towards that idea whatsoever tonight. Well, I guess they did a bit near the end. A mainstream magazine like that should really warn a reader before they publish shit like that way ahead of time before it happens on the show. I mean they didn't even give us a warning whatsoever, it was just.....there. For those that want it spoiled.... Awesome show tonight, Bill getting killed off totally caught me off guard though, although they were teasing the hell of out of it this season. This season is really strong stuff, IMO.

    Weekend Box Office Report

Does this count the decent grab it took in on the midnight shows Thursday night? Yeah, that number definately seems dissapointing, especially since it was released on 3600 screens. Any numbers how it did in IMAX? I'm waiting a few weeks and checking it out there. Damn, it Taken ever going to die? It's still in the top three, and still in over 3,000 screens. Amazing.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

I agree that if they did that, put Rey in, I would feel this match would be much more stronger in the process. There is a ready made storyline regarding him and Edge, obviously, plus a storyline ready made that Rey was "injured" by Big Show last year right before Mania, taking him off the card in the process. Hell, given Show leaked out the info already, I have a feeling we may actually see Show taken off that match and they might do Rey/Show on the undercard, with that same storyline I just mentioned, to build to it. Rey wants revenge from last year. And then we would then just go back to Edge/Cena, potentially with stips (If Cena wins, Vicki loses her job and if Edge wins, Cena can't ever challenge for the title again or something) or some sort of gimmick to the match, attached.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

Those reasons you have already stated is why Cena/Edge just doesn't sound that appealing to me. Plus, they just had another match with the two just last week. They killed any chance of that working now by just having a standalone match. The story here is far from as compelling as Orton/HHH is, that's all I know. Honestly, if they would have just held their guns on waiting with an Edge/Cena match at Mania without last week's Raw to muck it all up, I don't really see what would have been so wrong with that in the first place. I'm not really feeling it, but considering they always have good "big" matches, I could accept it. But inserting Show just kills it. Anyway you slice it, this is just totally underwhelming for one of the world title matches at the 25th Mania. HHH/Orton, I feel like they have at least worked hard on the storyline behind it to justify the match, but this is the complete opposite. As far as Cena/Edge/Show goes........same reason as was also stated as well, it's not Mania scale, anyway you slice it. Edge/Show or hell, even Christian/Edge or something ridiculous like that and Cena/Hogan or Austin sounds much better. I just can't see how putting Show in another Mania main event is warranted at this point, more than anything. If Batista would just be able to go by April, the obvious choice for Cena would be right there.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

It could have nothing to do with Foley or Sting at all since the Jarrett/Angle feud is kind of a seperate deal. Kind of ridiculous you use that to just try to throw a jab at the company regarding "nonsensical turn". In fact, for Lockdown, they could still have Styles/Booker, Joe/Nash, and Foley/Sting as seperate matches and then do Team Jarrett v. Team Angle for Lethal Lockdown. That someone still has such blind faith in TNA is amazing. This has nothing to do with "blind faith" - in fact, I could really care less about the company at this point since it's spinning it's wheels. It has to do that you will take a jab at the company when it's not even warranted. I was just simply saying that the idea of a Lethal Lockdown match with Jarrett and Angle captaining two teams doesn't have anything to do with the Foley/Sting possibilities of a turn from one or the other. Can't you see that?

Given Vince's current mindset about leaks, that might be a very expensive interview. I hope Vince's mindset actually changes the that match now, since a Show/Cena/Edge three way match sounds awful, even more than Edge/Cena does on its' own.

Impact spoilers for Feb. 26 and March 5, 2009

I dont think they really think in creative that they are doing this groundbreaking job in booking, I really don't. I think they don't take it seriously and aim to make it akin to something like a bad cult B-movie, but still trying to keep a bit of more serious thought in the main event level stuff, however. I mean cmon, take a look at the Dr Stevie segments for example.

Impact spoilers for Feb. 26 and March 5, 2009

TNA is basically for pro wrestling what Troma is for film.......that's the best way I can describe them. They certainly don't take their own product seriously within the company (whether that is good or bad is up to debate), and there is always a handful of just absurdly bad but funny shit on each show. The point is that it seems intentional, like they know its just going to be really cheesy or just downright ridiculous to the point where it's just campy enterainment. You definately can't measure the formula of booking in TNA with that in any other organization because of that. It's a whole different beast.

TNA sets record with 1.9 million viewers

Dude, do us all a favor who try to talk critically, sensibly and logically in this TNA folder and just leave........never come back. I've even so much as seen that when people here even dog on a certain thing TNA does, you actually then ironically enough disagree and then praise TNA somewhat. Clearly you are just a shit-stirrer that has no intentions of even having normal discussions around here, so just head back to the WWE folder and stay there. So sick of your posts clouding the discussions here....it makes me, as well as others I am sure, not even wanting to post. It's getting to be enough when you're attacking one of the only consistent posters on this board (bps) who has posted here in the TNA folder since way back when, as well as myself. If you think either of us are actually TNA marks, then fuck off, we're wrestling fans who want some normal discussions here. We both call a spade a spade when this company, or any other one, fucks up or does good in our eyes.

    Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

That chair segment, absolutely horrible. Like I said, it feels like a parody of a talk show....how could anyone think that was good to greenlight? Hell, even that weird band to end the show seemed like a joke in itself, including seeing the crowd geeking out in the stands on the sides. Totally weird. Brutally strange.

    Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Yeah, it's gotta be hard, but I thought it was going to be a little more natural for him than it has ended up being, considering his history on you know what. I expected the writing to be better here too overall and not so full of really forced humor. At least the little skits are bombing is what I mean. He can at least shoot the shit with the guests, though. I wonder how weird/surreal this is for him and her right now (Fallon interviewing Tina), by the way.

    Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

He most definately is nervous as hell, at least was on the first show. He's still getting all uncomfortable and tongue-tied on the second show I'm watching right now too. In some weird way I feel like Fallon is doing a totally unintentional parody of a talk show in some ways, if that makes any sense. Kind of similar to how TNA is unintentionally a parody of pro wrestling alot of times. Holy fuck though, he's bombing this Facebook segment. Oh, Mayor Bloomberg, snap. At least he has The Roots as house band for now.

PS3 won't output in HD with component cables

It's probably a goofy setting in the PS3 that needs to be changed manually through the system options, so you'll have to use the RCAs first, change the settings in there, and then give it a shot. Best way is probably to get an HDMI to DVI adapter for the cable and that would do the best trick in terms of best video output anyway without alot of fucking around with settings, etc.

    WWE Raw - March 2, 2009

So the heel uses the belt to get a cheap DQ on the show's top face and you think that's the blowoff? There's plenty of time for cena/show/edge to resolve itself to edge/cena again. The story (AGAIN) is the Cena chase to get another shot. Not thrilled with it, but seems like that's the jist for the next month. I actually HOPE that's the blowoff, because having Cena/Edge again at Mania is ridiculous now, and Cena/Show/Edge is actually even a worse idea to me than the former. Cena would be better off against Hogan or Austin at this point in a marquee match (as would Edge to be honest), akin to Rock/Hogan like. If they were going to add a third wheel to Cena/Edge, it should have been a big name.....and again, I gotta go back to Hogan or Austin. Otherwise, a triple threat match like this, especially at Mania, is just absolutely retarded booking. WTF has Big Show done to warrant a main event slot in the last year? He got a great spot last Mania, and it was warranted, but not this time around. I can't imagine how anyone can really give two shits about Cena chasing the title again already, after just one month of losing it anyway. This shows the company is really out of touch on where Cena should be right now in the big scheme of things. He's much better off for Mania in a dream type match scenario without titles on the line.

    ECW - March 3, 2009

I dont get the point of having BOTH Kane and Henry in there.......one or the other, sure, but not both. Kind of baffled on that move, unless they are planning on having something crazy like ten guys in MITB this year. On a positive note, at least Kane, nor Henry, will be thrown into an ECW title match at Mania with Swagger and it's looking more and more like they will just do another match with Swagger/Christian for the belt at the ppv.

    Lockdown Talk

What gets me are a few things with the inflated prices..... First, they are trying to treat this event apparently like their version of WrestleMania or something, and, even though Sting/Foley and JJ/Angle as co-main events is strong, these prices are just not warranted to this degree. I think they are doing this to try to emulate a successful formula WWE does month to month (and have overpriced ringside seats for their ppvs for years now) but quite frankly, they are nowhere near the same level of anything that really gives them an excuse for doing so. Are they really expecting anyone to throw down on those pricey seats when it seems commonplace for TNA road ppvs to have a decent attendance, but yet still nothing close to sold out, and by the end of it, bargain bin prices for tickets? I get the idea of TRYING to make an event look special by amping up ticket prices, but this is ridiculous. It kills off any potential to GET a crowd in the first place by doing this shit.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

I had to bring this post back up from way back on about a month ago.....is this potentially accurate considering what went down on Raw last night? Plus Hogan has been playing the media games like crazy lately, claiming he has talked to Vince but nothing is going to happen. Could be a swerve, you never know with Hogan. Plus, one would think that if a Hogan deal does fall through or isn't completed, could Austin take a match against Cena? Just seems like there is no way now they will just do another Cena/Edge match after them pulling it out of their asses on Raw tonight. I suppose Show/Cena/Edge is possible, but sounds horrible on paper.

    WWE Raw - March 2, 2009

Well, another Raw with what has been expected from this show the last few weeks. A solid Jericho legends segment, solid effort by both Orton and HHH in their roles also. The rest was pretty missable, though. Figured Rey was going into MITB, but guess not. What role is for him then at Mania? I'd much rather see Rey/Edge for the title, which brings me to... That whole ending of Raw. Just horrible shit. Does it make me want to see Cena/Edge again? Eh, not really, that match did nothing for me really. Does it make me want to see Big Show/Edge? Fucking hell no. Yet I seriously think that is what is going to happen......Vicki thinks Show will phone it in and try to pay him off to lay down for Edge or something, and Show turns again (another lame idea) and the match is set. I think, and dare I say I hope, this whole scenario means that Cena is out of the title picture here for the time being, as doing a triple threat here of Cena/Show/Edge is just such a bad idea, it wouldn't even be, nor should be, suggested as a main event for a normal ppv, much less a world title match at Mania. Ultimately, this HAS to mean Cena is going to be working against either Hogan or Austin at this point, otherwise this whole Edge/Cena debacle with Big Show added to the mix wouldn't have went down tonight. Right? And I'd love it if they did Show/Rey/Edge instead of what appears to be Show/Edge at Mania, since I still can't get over that performance Rey showed at No Way Out in the Elimination Chamber. He deserves this spot. Plus, Rey and Show at least have some backstory they could play upon as well, with Show laying him out upon returning at last year's No Way Out.

    WWE Raw - March 2, 2009

They also have announced the MITB match for tonight - Rey v. Knox v. Kane. My guess is Rey takes that one, and Kane goes on to possibly face Swagger and Christian in a three way at Mania for the ECW belt? Just seems like there has to be a point that they are, well, making a point, that Kane is showing back up in ECW here this week. And speaking of ECW, the MITB match on there tomorrow is Mark Henry v. Santino. Bad idea having either of those guys in MITB, but Henry must be the token big man they picked this year to be in it.

Just out of curiousity, I was looking at travel packages for the show, and they are pretty out there. Without traveling fare (air and/or car transportation), they are trying to get people to pay $700-$800 for a Mania-type package deal, where you get to go to a meet and greet, get a ringside seat, hotel accomodations, etc. On top of it, ringside is going for $175 a ticket! Are they fucking high??!!
