  1. I could honestly see Nash vs. Hall at the next event for the belt, with them making Hall sympathetic by saying he never won a world title, has fought his demons, and now has to go through his best friend to get it. Then JJ beats Hall the PPV after that, and The Outsiders ride off into the sunset yet again.

God I hope not. Hall is probably in his worse condition ever with "battling his demons" in reality.

  2. I'd have it be a 12 man tournament with these guys (opening rounds are all 3 way matches) and basically I would consider having the X division title on the line here as an extra incentive, or at most, bring back the X Cup that Sabin originally won back in 03.

    Styles

    Daniels

    Skipper

    Williams

    Sabin

    LA Park

    Spanky

    Noble

    Japan talent like perhaps Liger?

    British talent - McGuiness?

    Candido

    Kash

Also would probably have a tag title match with AMW v. Shane/Kazarian & think about having a King of the Mountain match for the NWA title with Jarrett v. 5 others or perhaps a gauntlet for the gold match with some of the non- x division guys, but limit it to only the top 10 guys that deserve title shots.

If they did a King of the Mountain match:

    Jarrett v. DDP v. Brown v. Nash v. Raven v. Killings

    If Gauntlet for the gold

    Jarrett

    DDP

    Brown

    Nash

Hall or Waltman (if he's coming in)

    Raven

    Rhodes

    Hardy

    Abyss

    Killings

  3. Not sure if this is the place to post it but they added/changed some things to the card on Sunday.

Hall is out of the tag match (probably due to his chronic drinking lately that got him in the hospital and had him miss the last Impact taping) and replaced by Eric Young so its Team Canada v. DDP & Brown which will probably make for a decent match if everyone works hard.

They also added Skipper v. Williams which could be a number one contenders match, perhaps doing a build to Daniels v. Skipper (finally) down the road?

That change to the tag match makes that match much more appealing to me. Hall and TC teaming up just didnt make sense to me.

Supposedly, Sean Waltman might very well show up on the ppv too - he's signed with TNA and I would have assumed that they might team him with Hall and Nash down the road. Better idea might be to put him in the X division mix if he can still work.

  4. I'm sure I'm not in the minority by saying Impact in the past few months has been very underwhelming in what they put out there to build to the ppvs in general. The week with Daniels-Styles I thought was well booked but generally, I think they need to do a much better job with not just the ppv buildup but the character development and in general, establishing more meaningful feuds. I will say though that the Hardy-Abyss stuff has been surprisingly good for building that match, as is Daniels-Styles. Or at least better than they usually do, so maybe they realize the faults of the past regarding this issue. The Nash-Jarrett buildup has been pure shit but I didnt expect anything less for just a shit match either I guess.

With that said, still really looking forward to the ppv this Sunday to see if they can hit 3rd in a row home run on these shows.

  5. From the copies I have seen around town, its actually only R

Are you sure you are looking at the special edition that just came out TODAY? Or the previous DVD release that has been out a few years now.

I bought it at Best Buy yesterday (special edition) and did check everywhere around town and the box art on it actually said it is rated R. Believe me though, I wish it was NC-17 and if, by chance, anyone has investigated into it any further and know where they do actually sell a documented on the back box cover NC-17 version, let me know!

I'm assuming Fox just went ahead and used the same cut of the film (and sound/video transfer) as the original bare bones DVD R-rated version and then just added an extra disc of special features. They did the same thing with the original Predator for that special edition from months back, which sucked because the picture was crappy as well with all of the "movie marks" (akin to how a film looks in the theatre at times) showing during parts of the movie.

  6. If you get anything above the Top 60 - you're supposed to be getting your local regional sports channel (it should be somewhere around the 400s). Otherwise, you can sign up for the sports pack for $5.99 a month and get all of the FSN channels plus a few more with other wrestling stuff on them like IWA and WEW, etc.

I'd call Dish up and explain - I'm sure they can take care of it. Havent had a problem with them at all since I signed up myself...

    Whoa whoa whoa....

I can get ALL the FSN???

    Please explain.

Yeah you can get all of them except I think Fox Sports World (you need the 180 channel deal to get that) for an additional $5.99 a month, and thats regardless of what package plan you sign up with. Essentially Impact is on so many times in that manner since they are all on different time zones, yet Impact always starts on each at 4pm in their time zone. So you can't miss it.

Another perk with that sports deal is you get channels like MSG Network and Sunshine Channel, so non FSN regionals as well.

  8. Wow, horrible TNA spoilers towards their next ppv and then this? I think the wrestling gods slipped some " I dont give a shit about the product " pill to these writers tonight....

I'm amazed how Smackdown gets better ratings currently than RAW with the shit they are pulling out of their ass lately on the show. The last 3 or 4 weeks have really been weak as hell, so much I dont even want to waste a minute to see it.

  9. ... I take back my comments about Dusty Rhodes being smart.

    So do I!

In looking more deeply at this card....

Raven v. Rhodes - Raven is very quickly becoming a non factor in the company and nothing more than a glorified jobber. This match does zero for me as the finish seems obvious with Rhodes getting another win, continuing this obvious push of his with him being the booker's son. This does nothing to serve Raven at all. TNA would be better off continuing the feud with Rhodes and Kash next month with a gimmick match (bullrope?) to help get over both guys more by establishing a heated program, instead of blowing it off after one solid match. With Raven, why don't they go ahead and do that feud with Piper that got nixed so many years ago? Or even put him against Candido or something - anything but this?!!

    On that same note....

Tag title match AMW v. Kash/Dallas - I think I saw this match before a few times on the weekly ppvs and I was certainly not impressed. There are more than enough other tag teams in TNA to give someone else a shot, or at worst perhaps a surprise tag team to go with that whole deal with Traci and Trinity.

BTW, on a side note - one of those teams that the girls are bringing in are Ron and Don Harris - UGH! They still arent sure on the other one but having the Harris Boys back makes me sick enough to give a shit less about the other one.

On another side note, a long term plan is to turn AMW heel and turn Shane/Kazarian face, not sure if thats at the same time, but they are supposed to be feuding soon.

DDP v. Hall is pointless fodder.

As far as the rest of the card, I really dont see the interest personally in having Jeff Hammond wrestle, but I think they expect it to draw some NASCAR fans into the ppv, which is possible.

TLC match and Ironman matches will once again be the (hopefully) saving graces of this ppv to make it either be mostly solid or otherwise. Hardy has a huge test here to show if he still has any sort of workrate at all in a TLC match with a guy who will surely bump like a champ for him as long as Hardy can hold his own.

There is more potential on this lineup though, than any other monthly ppv they've done, for failure from looking at it. They could and probably will add another couple of matches with X division guys (maybe Skipper v. Sabin?) but it's still hard to swallow this.

It's amazing how TNA can deliver so well just days ago and then produce these results for the future month. Just very sad.

  10. I just read in the Observer today that (and this was written before Final Resolution) that even days before the show, they were still considering even doing Nash v. Jarrett at the show last Sunday, as Rhodes has it in his head that 1) Brown is neither a draw nor ready for the spot (even though he was penciled in to take the title months ago, fucking politics) and furthermore 2) that Jarrett-Nash is the only potential draw of a main event match for TNA right now. I can't believe Rhodes can be this dense but it could be likely that Jeff and his poltical allies (Mantel, Bob Ryder, etc) have just worked hard on breaking down Rhodes to believe their vision of the future of this company. Lord knows there are too many personalities in the back stage though who cant make up their mind and talk out of both sides of their mouth (look at the shit with Abyss and how he's already back when they claimed there was no way he was returning) so maybe something will change here.

With that said, all the hope I have for Rhodes as booker at this current time, and even after a great ppv, has significantly dropped. What the fuck is him and TNA as a whole thinking? This sounds like a sick joke - like Rhodes is on the WWE payroll or something and is trying to kill off the main thing they claim to be concerned about - the world title picture.

I already saw this on the wall but didnt want to admit it after the good showing Brown was given at the ppv - I thought TNA would reconsider the plan for going to Jarrett-Nash. He passed the test in my eyes in having yet another good match with Jarrett and needs the title NOW. Things could change at the next TV taping though, and lets just hope thats the case. They need to just book Nash-Jarrett on Impact before the ppv and blow it off, leading to something else at the ppv - like a King of the Mountain match with Nash, Hall, DDP, Brown, Killings, and Jarrett.

Nash-Jarrett is HORRIBLE - even worse than that potential Savage-Jarrett match sounded. Why are they either doing a heel/heel main event or even bothering to turn a stale Nash? WTF!! Wasnt this feud bad enough back in the 2000 WCW? Why does TNA want to go back to a flashback of that??!! (Insert obvious analogy here about WCW 2000 = 2005 TNA)

Can you tell I'm pissed? This is just sad because once again, TNA is going to get shit on horribly (and rightfully so) for the main event to a lineup that generally sounds pretty strong, especially with a Styles-Daniels Ironman match booked. My assumption is that if the main event isnt changed, they will probably do Monty Brown v. someone from Team Canada - oh joy.

Shit like this makes me want to start a rally to get everyone to flood any email addresses that the TNA website has for feedback to any of the main people working the office to express the displeasure with what they are doing here. Chances are they might smarten up after Nash-Jarrett for the next ppv and finally give Brown a title run, but they're ruining something huge by not following up on Monty Brown's title chase NOW. This reminds me SO MUCH of the BS with misusing Raven after his chase for Jarrett's belt. This move reeks of either extreme politicing with Jarrett/Mantel and Co. (can Jerry Jarrett please step in and try to save this company before his son completely kills it?) or else Rhodes really has no clue what he's doing. Nash OR Jarrett are NOT a draw! Nobody is when you are only pulling .15 a week for Impact. Their best bet is to take a chance (before its too late) and try to make NEW stars. Seems too obvious...

  11. Not sure what they are going to do with the world title picture now, but if they dont go with Brown-Jarrett again soon, the company will continue to flounder with the masses not taking them seriously when they have such a lame world title division that only serve to feed the egos like Nash and Jarrett. If they do in fact build the next ppv to those two for the world title, it's not going to get any better.

Not seen the PPV yet thanks to the Wrestling Channel only just having gotten their finger out, but absolutely intending to do so when its available online or on TV here. Got to agree that there's a blind spot with many regarding TNA and just refusing to believe they can be good regardless of output. Turning Point and the last couple of months worth of iMPACT! suggest theyve turned the corner.

As for the world title picture - there's an opportunity here for them to use the "Road to the Cage" series they did around a year ago on the weekly PPVs. Nash, Hardy, DDP and Monty named as condenders, and run it as an elimination series each week up to the Feb PPV, building to Brown and Jarrett in a cage, where JJ can't get access to the guitar or anything. Level playing field, Brown goes over. Can also set up a couple of new feuds for the new champ on the back of it.

Yeah I was thinking earlier today what would be the best way to do this, and that might be it. Not too sure if they should rush another six sides of steel match already though for next ppv.

The other angle to take would be to build to another King of the Mountain match for the title at the next ppv with DDP, Nash, Hardy, Abyss, Brown, and Jarrett (or whatever other mix of talent you want). It could come down to Brown and Jarrett and of course, Brown then finally goes over. This might add a tremendous amount of drama doing it this way.

Otherwise, the other idea would be to build a Brown-Jarrett match with some gimmick like a street fight or something for the title. If they do a straight rematch for the belt, I'm not sure if it would draw as well as it would with a gimmick attached to a rematch. They've already done 2 of them (both of which were way better than I expected) and it seems time to change it up a little bit.

  12. To be fair about the "Tag Division" comment. TNA has what, 4 teams? Team Canada, Shane & Kazarian, 3LK and AMW. And the only team that I gave a shit about (Daniels/Skipper) was split up.

The Naturals, NYC, Clark and Batts (I think they are still around), as well as Badd/Siaki, who are also now a regular team too. It sounds like they are going to bring in a few more tag teams with this thing with Traci and Trinity too - so the division isnt too bad lately as far as depth.

  13. Bear in mind that a lot of people here, myself included, spent a lot of time and money on TNA over the last few years.

So have I (I've gotten every ppv they've ever done) - but thats no excuse to not give them another chance when they are probably putting out better stuff than I've seen from them in a long time.

  14. I guess they figured they were struggling so much to get paid attendance there that it didnt really matter what they did after the move, but its still bad business to cut off any market of your fans like that.

It's their own fault for handing out thousands (and I do mean THOUSANDS) of free tickets every week... for a building that only seats maybe 2,000 people maximum. Local indy wrestling in Nashville has mostly been in the shitter ever since TNA came to town, and I think spoiling everyone by letting them see big-name wrestlers every week for free played a major role in that.

They should have never started to hand out comps for the Fairgrounds show - you're right that it started a bad trend for them to never really get a good amount of sales from tickets since nearly everyone knew you could find them for free around town.

Does anyone know if they still do this in Orlando, especially with the ppvs now? That would be a shame if they dont, at least, make the crowd there pay $20 per ticket for the ppvs in the least.

BTW, I never mentioned how annoying Johnny Fairplay was tonight on the ppv. Looked like that was his send off with the storyline they did tonight, thank god.

  15. Are you pissed that they left Nashville?

Everyone in Nashville except for a few hardcore haterz is STILL pissed at them for leaving, especially since they lied to our faces and denied they were leaving until they actually left, and then lied to our faces again when they claimed they'd return here for the next PPV.

Yeah I thought that was pretty shitty how that was all handled - they should have/could have still kept that loyal fanbase of regulars from the Nashville shows happy by not deciding to make every show from Orlando. I didnt think it would have been much to ask for them to still do some shows, hell, even a house show here and there, back in Nashville.

I guess they figured they were struggling so much to get paid attendance there that it didnt really matter what they did after the move, but its still bad business to cut off any market of your fans like that.

  16. Overall, the show was as good, if not better overall maybe, than Turning Point. If TNA keeps having at least really good ppvs like this, I dont think they will be going out of business anytime soon, but thats debatable.

    It's debatable?

Sure is - when they are getting positive praise for the move to monthly ppvs and the numbers are showing that they arent bottoming out from it - thats showing alot of people that some momentum may finally be shifting upward. Even if Panda pulls out in x number of months, who's to say they can't find another backer?

  17. FYI, Russo wasnt even booking WCW in 2001, by that point he had been sitting at home collecting paychecks like most of the other real problematic forces in the company were.

Didn't I already say that? I thought WCW was crap during 2000 because of Russo and I refused to watch. I started watching after he was gone, and was during the dying days when the shows still weren't that good when looking back at it now.

Oh ok sorry for the misunderstanding.

  18. To be fair, Looney, most of Jarrett's big matches in TNA have been in the ***-***1/2 range. Of course, these same matches were against top-notch opponents like Raven, AJ Styles, Ron Killings, and the like, so take that as you will.

And as for the reason I constantly rag on TNA, even when I admit to not watching the shows? Because TNA is WCW: no real upward mobility for the better talents, office political wars, and no true direction to go to. AMW winning again? Terrible booking. There's also the fact that I highly doubt the tag match was over **1/2, if that, because Team Canada, well, sucks, and AMW, well, sucks more. They've never, in the 2 1/2 years they've been teaming together, been able to properly build to a hot tag.

As for Kash/Dustin, I'll admit it: I wanna see that match. Then again, I'm also a vocal Kid Kash mark, so take that as you will.

To be honest, if you would be watching TNA lately, you would see alot more "upward mobility" made towards certain talent. While I'll be the first to admit they are dropping the ball on Skipper and Daniels currently, you can tell by commentary that they either have something up their sleeve down the road or at least have the intention of doing something here soon. Guys like Garza were being pushed very strong and its just unfortunate what happened with him did in fact happen. While I'll also say alot of the talent could be used better, I do think the company is alot better with Rhodes booking right now than it was with Mantel/Jarrett doing their thing, and I think these last few ppvs have proven that. There is still alot of work to be done, and more than anything what that might take to get it right is more time to actually develop things - meaning more than one hour of TV a week.

I'm also not the biggest AMW fan but try and look from it from just an initial perspective - how is it terrible booking when they are one of the only teams that are really over at this point in the company (which yes, is TNA's fault that they can't build up the tag scene better) and they can at least bust their ass in this match to earn the win? See the match for yourself - I think you'll be surprised.

As far as an overall direction that you think TNA isnt going for or aiming at, time will tell as how they book the next ppv will be interesting. If they stick with this Monte Brown title chase, a clear direction is there which I would imagine needs to be followed up on next big show. Having the "old reliables" of AMW and Styles as champs again serves to allow for some new and fresh feuds with new contenders, so we'll see how it goes.

  19. If I had a PPV connection I might've ordered, but I didn't think it was possible for TNA to put this good of stuff on, considering all of 2004 really sucked.

Unless of course, people like it because TNA is on it's death bed soon (trying not to be negative). Lord knows, I was praising WCW from January-March 2001, even though I haven't watched a single Nitro from the Russo booking because of how horrible it sounded. Go Enforcer Road Warrior Animal!

I dont think its that people are all of a sudden enjoying it because its "going under" (which is debatable as these ppvs have gotten suitable enough buy rates that they have considered the past 2 a sucess of sorts) as that just doesnt make sense. If a show sucks, it sucks - if it doesnt, people are going to take note such as is occuring lately.

If anything the roster seems to be working harder on these ppvs because I think they know what they mean to the future of the company. If they bust their ass, then people will most of the time at least be happy with what they saw, even if the booking at times is questionable. This is similar to the 2001 WCW in the essence where the workrate also at that same time was turned up with some of the guys in likely knowing things were kind of stagnant and they needed to do something to help (IE Cruiserweight division).

FYI, Russo wasnt even booking WCW in 2001, by that point he had been sitting at home collecting paychecks like most of the other real problematic forces in the company were.

  20. Jarrett/Brown is a ***+ match?! Jarrett has only had a handful of 3 star matches in his career, and 1 is against Monty Brown? Either someone slipped something special in Jarrett's coffee, or everyone is a little too generous with star ratings because the matches before it were good.

By the way, am I the only one who keeps seeing "TNA Final Solution" in the title, even though it clearly says "Resolution"? Damn my eyes.

Just watch it and see for yourself if you dont think its true - to each their own.
