That was exactly the sort of stupid thing UCLA didn't need to do.
-
That almost went all the way back for a UCLA touchdown.

TNT has repeats of Las Vegas at various points in time. I could swear that I watched it on Wednesday night.

I don't really see the need for anything more than a 4 team playoff. When was the last time there were more than 4 teams that you could look at and say "yeah, that team looks like a legit 'best team in the country' contender and deserves a shot at the national title"? 2006: Aside from OSU, everyone is talking about Michigan, USC, and (if they win the SEC) Florida. I suppose you could MAYBE throw in Boise State. 2005: Texas and USC, end of story. 2004: USC, Oklahoma, and Auburn obviously, with Utah rounding it out. One could make an argument for Texas or Cal (although the later looks worse in hindsight). 2003: Oklahoma, USC, and LSU, with probably Michigan as #4 although clearly less deserving than the 3 one-loss teams. 2002: Miami and OSU, everyone else can suck it. 2001: Miami of course, then Oregon, Nebraska, and I guess Colorado. 2000: Oklahoma, with the trio of FSU, Miami, and Washington added. 1999: FSU and Virginia Tech, that's it. 1998: One of the messier years, with Tennessee and Florida State being the only obvious choices. Enough arguments for other teams that an 8-team playoff would seem more appropriate here.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to dubq's topic in TNA Wrestling
The other difference is that DX was already well-established with their anti-establishment gimmick and occasional "shoot" comments and angles, and the WCW "invasion" was just another skit in a long line of similar ones. VKM on the other hand is a gimmick that revolves completely around another promotion. -
TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

Here's what I need to ask the people who are defending this VKM nonsense, and in particular accepting the "Hardyz' challenge": 1. In what way, shape or form is it a good thing to basically be saying "buy the competition's PPV!"? Because that's pretty much what the TNA web story is doing. 2. How is an angle worthwhile when it can't lead to a payoff involving an actual match? In addition to being tasteless, the weakest point of the much-reviled Orton/Mysterio angle was that the entire build was for a match that could not possibly take place: Orton vs. Eddy Guererro. But at least that was still leading to Orton vs. Mysterio whereas pretty much nothing can come of this. Or are we going to get something ridiculous here like Waltman coming in to "defend the honour" of DX/HHH/HBK? -
Now a pick for the Irish, this game isn't over yet.

Notre Dame simply must capitalize on this if they want to stay in it. EDIT: and they do, TD for Notre Dame.
-
I'm not even sure there is a word to describe the football that Notre Dame is playing right now. They better hope that Pete Carroll suffers a heart attack at halftime and is replaced by emergency head coaching hire John L. Smith.
-
They were playing Motorhead "The Game" before the Maryland-WF game.
-
Yep, I was just about to post the same thing.

That was an exciting game. With BSU taking care of business right now, it looks like the Fiesta Bowl will be Oklahoma/Nebraska vs. Boise State. I think Oklahoma wins the Big 12 championship and play in the BCS.
-
If USC loses tonight I can't see any way anyone is going to pass Michigan in the BCS at this point. Unless Notre Dame wins by something like 4 touchdowns, which won't happen.
-
USF knocks off West Virginia, all but eliminating them from the BCS.
-
USF leading West Virginia at the half. Doesn't look like FSU is going to give Florida much of a game.
-
Yeah that was a pretty anticlimatic finish to an exciting game. LSU is positioned to maybe play in a BCS game depending on who wins and loses, while Arkansas needs to win the SEC championship game if they want to be there.
-
This LSU-Arkansas game has been pretty crazy with a ton of huge plays. -80 yard TD run for Arkansas by McFadden -92 yard kickoff return for a TD for LSU by Holliday -62 yard kickoff return for Arkansas by Jones IN THREE CONSECUTIVE PLAYS! Arkansas has something like 300 yards rushing and they are still losing by 11.
-
A turnover by the Ducks on the first play of the game. How totally not surprising.
-
Oh man Leaf is starting today. Anyone who can still get a bet in should take whatever line you can get on the Beavers right now.

I was interested in picking up a cheap mp3 player Best Buy has as one of their door crashers but was dreading the line. Logged onto Circuit City's website, and they have the same product as an "online-only Thanksgiving day special" for only 5 bucks more, with free shipping. Needless to say, I'm not getting in line tomorrow morning.

Anyone else love that John Madden parody on FOX before the game? The video game line in particular was great.

True enough but it seems every year there has been a clear #1 in the BCS and the whole debate has been over who gets to play them, whichever team does get sent jobs and the team everyone knew was the best ends up that way (see 1998, 2000, 2001). Okay, the last two I agree with, but 1998? Between Tennessee in '98 and OSU in '02, I dunno who was the luckiest national champion of the BCS-era. But Tennessee in 1998 was the only undefeated team and were the unanimous #1 going into the championship game, that's all I was saying. There was debate as to who was the next best team that should play them, but not their presence in the title game. And they won the game to be a clear, undisputed champion.

Very unlikely because beating OSU would be easily the best win anyone has produced all year. But it doesn't matter because Michigan is the only team that won't lose to OSU by double digits in the BCS title game. I bet when the line comes out for that game, it's OSU by 3.5 if the opponent is Michigan and 10.5 if it's anyone else.

Michigan gets in under paragraph 5, which means paragraph 6 is ignored, leaving the door wide open for whoever doesn't win the SEC and Big East to get snubbed. Good catch Chris. So assuming things go roughly as expected (i.e. Boise State winning), there will be 2 slots available for the bowls to choose between Notre Dame, one of Arkansas/Florida, one of Louisville/WVU/Rutgers, and possibly teams like Auburn, LSU, etc. depending on where they finish.
