I'm also pulling for Mark Warner for the Democrats, as well as Evan Bayh (I'd love to see that as the ticket). I'm hoping for either McCain or Chuck Hagel for the Republicans. I doubt Hagel has a chance in hell due to being far outside the party's "inner sanctum" but I think he'd be a strong candidate.

That collective barganing agreement is from 2003. If you read some of the excerpts, most of the information contends Bonds significant usage periods were from 1998-2001, and don't even mention him using past 2003. I would hedge my bets that he stopped using as soon as it was prohibited. How clueless are the fans in San Jose? Chanting "overrated" at the Wings because they are beating a team sitting out 5 of its regular players and whose leading scorer is playing light minutes with a broken finger? Really it's pretty pathetic that San Jose needed until the 3rd period to put away this Wings squad and that they could only score on the powerplay.

Seems like the problem is between the owners moreso than between the league and the players.

Lundqvist's goaltending in the 3rd period was as good as anyone I've seen not named Hasek. He was just a brick wall in the net for the last 20 minutes of that game. Nice to see the Red Wings power Sweden to victory. Hopefully that was an omen for the playoffs this year.

I'm disappointed to see J.J. Reddick moving up the draft boards. I was hoping teams would keep picking guys over him, making Vitale more and more irate as the night went on. Finally, a European guy would get picked over Reddick , then Vitale and Stephen A. Smith would hit the roof.

That 3rd period was some absolutely vicious defensive hockey from Finland. What a great team they are.

Finland looks like the team to beat in this tournament so far. They have the best line in the tournament (maybe the best line in modern Olympic hockey history), their team system is flawless, and they are getting solid goaltending from Nittymaki.

You can't. Filtering through t-shirts will get rid of larger particulate matter, but not bacteria. You need much finer micropores than anything you can get from cotton stitching. Did they seriously try to claim that on the show? Here's a true story from one of my outdoors buddies (I wasn't on this trip though): after losing their way, he and a friend spent most of the day wandering around with no water. Late in the day they finally found a source of "water"; an evaporated pond bed that was basically some sloppy soft mud. They filtered it through a t-shirt into a bottle to get the larger chunks of mud out, then treated it with iodine, then boiled it, and then poured in a huge amount of orange drink crystals. It made them feel better since they were getting dehydrated, but suffice to say it wasn't the cleanest water they've ever had. The only practical ways to treat water are to boil it, treat it with iodine, or filter it using a filter like the ones made by MSR and Katadyn.

Every time I see a US snowboarder I think more and more that they are wearing flannel pyjamas. Seriously, is aerodynamics a foreign concept to the world of snowboarding outside of the ones competing in giant slalom?

IS there a rule in snowboarding that you simply must wear clothes for style rather than function, or do all people in the sport simply choose to do so by their own free will? In particular those US snowboard "uniforms" don't at all look like they would be optimal for competition.

Man NBC is really shoving this half-pipe crap down our throats. I've got no problem with real technical snowboarding (giant slalom, etc.) but this X-games stuff is just ice-dancing on snow.

This "controversy" might actually be interesting if women's hockey meant anything. The ONLY reason people feign interest in this "sport" is because the marquee matchup (really, only matchup) is Canada vs. the USA. People who claim that is "good hockey" probably wouldn't even give it the time of day if it was China vs. Russia or something like that.
