Texas won't get blown out because USC has a useless defense and won't be able to stop Vince Young. Of course Texas' defense can't stop the run and will get eaten up by Bush and White all game. Winner is whoever gets the most turnovers.

Street Fighter is the best movie ever.

BLASPHEMY~! How dare you besmirch the greatest of Transformers the Movie. -
As much as I want Texas and USC to play as undefeateds in the championship, I'm almost tempted to root for that scenario just because it screws Notre Dame out of the BCS and into some 3rd rate bowl.

And of course that is not a particularly popular platform with most Canadians. If there's one thing you say with near certaintly, it's that most Canadian voters do not like George W. Bush, and will immediately be suspicious of anyone promoting closer ties with his government. And just for fun:

Toomer's left foot looked like it was touching the end line, which would have made it an incompletion. The ref, in his explanation after the replay challenge, was apparently only looking at the right foot, which Toomer dragged in bounds, and not the left. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh right that reminds me. I seem to recall watching that play and deciding that his left foot was in bounds. I remember when he fell forward and his foot bent it looked pretty clear it was totally inside the end zone. Guess not...

Interesting rebuke of the officials by the NFL here: NFL says refs erred on Giants touchdowns I was pretty adamant that the Shockey touchdown should have been reversed and it looks like with good reason, but what was wrong with the other TD? I don't remember anything particularly questionable about it...

Only the Holiday Bowl because again like this year the Pac-10 second place team gets stuck with it if they don't get into the BCS. They beat Nebraska 23-20 who was #14 at the time. I'm thinking they should just make the game a January 1st game as nine of the last ten years a Top 10 team has played in it. Looking back the Fiesta Bowl was the title game that year so otherwise have to figure they would have been a natural at-large selection for it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was their BCS score too low to qualify automatically that year? Or did the top 4 rule only get introduced later? I definitely agree that the Holiday Bowl should be made into a New Year's bowl.

Wow that Arizona 4th place in 1998 totally slipped my mind. What bowl did they play in that season?
-
http://www.bcsfootball.org/index.cfm?page=timeline Arizona hasn't played in a BCS/Bowl Coalition/Bowl Alliance game in over a decade. I can't imagine they'd have been ranked all that high (certainly not #4) without playing in any of these games. Did they play in a Rose Bowl I'm forgetting about? Arizona State was ranked as high as #2 in 1996 and played in the Rose Bowl. EDIT: looking at those numbers reminds me just how fucking insane that 1995 Nebraska team was. They absolutely killed a 12-0 Spurrier-led Florida team for the championship.

WVU will get a chance to vindicate their season in a BCS bowl. If they beat any of the other teams people will give them respect as a legitimately strong team (unless something horrible happens in the conference championships and produces something like an FSU-WVU matchup).
-
Those are all pretty interesting matchups. Did you forget about Oklahoma vs. Miami?
-
A weee bit touchy arn't we?
-
How exactly am I "hating" by pointing out a call that I think is bad?
-
Inconclusive most likely. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The replays they showed on TV seemed pretty conclusive to me, moreso than many others I've seen used to overturn calls.
-
I can't believe that touchdown by Shockey wasn't overturned.

Bored gave a good synopsis of the possibilities there, and another factor that has been brought up is that if Ohio State does play in the Fiesta Bowl it would be their 3rd trip there in 4 years. Although I'm not sure if that is a negative (staleness factor) or a positive (proven record of bringing fans). Something that's improbable but not impossible would be Virginia Tech and LSU both losing their conference championship games, which might be enough to push Ohio State into the #4 position in the BCS and an automatic berth.
-
Some of the bowl forecasters have Oregon going to the Fiesta Bowl over Ohio State.
-
Stanford's pass defense is softer than cream cheese right now.
-
He just pulled a Jemery Shockey there.
-
Virginia Tech losing would be setting up the least enticing Miami-FSU game in forever.
-
Stanford and Notre Dame are all tied at the half. GO CARDINAL!
-
That was one of the lamest "fights" I've ever seen. I couldn't tell if they were fighting or having a group psyche-up session.
-
It's the latter of the two. This sort of debate has been going on since long before the BCS existed. Also, Notre Dame's absurd new deal with the BCS won't do anything to help matters.
-
Probably not. Update: Notre Dame is up 14-7 on Stanford. Nevada is now beating Fresno State 24-10.
-
Nebraska will eventually make a comeback and rejoin the elite teams.
