Another pick and another OSU field goal. Vince Young really is the next Vick.

I can't believe Peterson still managed to pick up 220 yards with no passing game and the box loaded with guys.

    Anybody Watching the US Open?

Federer crushed Nalbandian today to set up a semifinal match with Hewitt who he seems to completely own. I really hope Agassi beats Ginepri or this US Open could end up being one of the biggest romps ever.

    Anybody Watching the US Open?

Federer-Agassi is THE dream match at this point especially given that this will be Agassi's last tournament.

    Thus far,

Favorite moment so far was Mickelson winning the PGA Championship.

Clinton probably figured that with Reno, he was covering at least half of the minority positions in one shot. Albright was a pretty good SoS, certainly one of the most capable members of Clinton's cabinet.

OAO Spike and UFC vs. USA and WWE thread

Hah! If that's true, then Vince is pulling more of his hair out because Tito Ortiz did a TNA PPV for them as a special referee a couple months ago and the chatter is TNA is going to bring in Tito and Ken Shamrock for the Spike show and promote a worked match between the two in order to keep the UFC audience watching. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because if there is one thing UFC fans love, it's worked matches involving their guys. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No kidding. The last thing I want to see is the Inoki worked-shoot style nonsense come to light in North America. A worked MMA match is a really boring pro wrestling match. I can just see Jarrett becoming the North American Ogawa with all sorts of worked wins over MMA fighters.

I just don't see Roberts being a stooge for the religious right. For instance look at what he had to say with regards to the Terri Schiavo business: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050809/ap_on_go_co/roberts

Color me unimpressed by Louisville after that performance. If U of K's quarterback knew how to protect the ball Kentucky might have won that game.

    Hurricane Katrina

This is similar to Hiroshima in that the visual and material impact of the devastation is greater than the actual loss of life. The tsunami floods were devastating and more deadly but they didn't leave something as visually shocking as Hiroshima/Nagasaki lying in ruins or New Orleans being submerged under water.

    Hurricane Katrina

With all those dead bodies contaminating the water and the water probably not going away for a while, I'd say 2007 is pretty optimistic I was watching The Weather Channel just two hours ago, but I had to turn it off because seeing all of that was depressing as hell. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Horifying as it might sound, New Orleans may be the modern-day Hiroshima. It's a painful reminder that as much as humans like to think they are in control of nature and their environment, the planet can dish out just as much damage as any weapons man has constructed and there's little that can be done to stop it. It's also worth noting that sitting out here on the west coast like I am could lead one to feel detached from this disaster since it's something that would "never happen" out here. But then one needs only think about ticking time bombs like the San Andreas fault, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, and so on, to realize that no one is safe from this sort of destruction.

Apparently Hugo Chavez has offered to send oil and medicine, no idea if that will get accepted or not.

Of course, one could say the exact same thing about MMA with regards to all of the fights involving Inoki's "fighters" in Japan.

I hope you have a big Weekend Box Office Report

Even if you ignore Farenheit 9/11 (since the last thing I want to do is argue over that movie), it's still well behind Everest, which made 89 million.

Vancouver was smart to lock up Ohlund. He's one of the NHL's most underrated defensemen. Oh, and Tampa Bay signed St. Louis for 6 years at 31.5 million, which means they've got 50 million in guaranteed money locked up for the next 4 years (amnd then 10 million for 2 more after that), will still have to resign Richards and Kubina at some point in the future, and have Grahame as their current starting goaltender. They are headed for cap hell, especially when Vinny does his "good this season, mediocre the next" routine and they realize what a mistake it was paying 6.8 million a year to a forward who hasn't even broken 80 points.

Wow, did you read my mind or something? I might have Turco and/or Theodore in there but those are certainly 5 of the top 10 or so, and I like the order as well.
