The way I see it is this: Oklahoma getting beaten down by a ranked team that played in a BCS bowl game is about even to USC losing a close one to a mediocre opponent. So now look at the rest of the season. And when you do that, to me at least, Oklahoma is clearly better. I also find it pretty funny that people are using the Michigan game to attempt to justify their opinions when the Sugar Bowl hasn't even been played yet. I really hope OU wins big, and I mean really big, to see what people come up with. It's also pretty funny to hear people trashing the BCS system for producing a split national champion when the vaunted human polls that the anti-BCS people worship have been doing that on their own for years. Seems to me people prefer what happened in 1997 to what is happening now, which is flat out disgusting IMO.

Personally I don't even have much of a problem with a split championship this year. In a year when no one could even manage to go undefeated and 3 teams ended up with basically the same record, maybe we shouldn't be calling any of them clearly better than the other. On the other hand, I'd hate it way more if we had two undefeated teams and they didn't even face each other because of bowl politics. Remember, before the BCS, Virginia Tech would have probably been completing their undefeated season against some stiff team in the Cotton Bowl instead of playing against FSU for the national title. And all the previous "BCS controversies" basically came down to "who is going to be the sacrificial lamb we are feeding up" and really got far more press than they were worth (such as that Oregon-Nebraska-Colorado nonsense, where Colorado was whining despite having absolutely no tangible claim to a title game). Personally (and I'm sure very few would agree, but whatever), I feel that if one big team (meaning not someone from the MAC or CUSA with a creampuff schedule) can go undefeated and no one else can, they should be the national champions without even having to play a bowl game for it.

Disregarding all this OU vs. everyone stuff, I haven't heard one argument all year to support USC being ahead of LSU other than "they started higher in the pre-season polls and the voters won't let a team pass another one as long as both keep winning". Also, these sportswriters who are talking about changing their votes from LSU to USC before the Sugar Bowl is even played are pathetic. Some of them have even admitted they are only doing it to play politics with the BCS, which IMO should cost them their votes in the future.

So are they bringing the Jobbin Juggalo along with them?

The way people are going on you would think a split national championship has never happened and is the worst thing in history when the pollsters managed to generate multiple occurences of them in the 1990s alone.

I midly dislike when someone asks me "what are you studying?", I tell them "mathematics" and they ask "what are you going to do with that?". I FUCKING HATE IT when I respond with "I'm going to go to grad school" and they ask "well what are you going to do after that?". First of all, that's 5 and a half years away, at least. Second, unlike some of these soft underbelly subjects, you don't just get a mathematics Ph.D. for paying your tuition fees and hanging around the school for 5 years, you actually have to do some difficult, original work to get it (well, maybe not so much in applied math, but even that's still non-trivial). People can't seem to comprehend that not everyone is looking at their education strictly with a particular job goal in mind.

Which, as a die-hard fan of the maize and blue, would have made me absolutely sick. There is no way this team, which lost both a downer to Oregon and a stinker to Iowa, and then almost got beat by Minnesota, deserves even a sniff of the national championship as long as there are still other top 5 teams with 1 loss. It would have been rewarding a team who underachieved greatly (Michigan should have gone undefeated with the lineup they fielded this year) so that the writers could play politics.

Wake the fuck up BPS. You guys are saying that the winner of the Sugar Bowl doesn't matter because of the performance that USC has given tonight. You aren't even paying attention to what is going to happen on Sunday. You're basically ignoring two very good teams because you think that the BCS is unfair. WHY IS THE BCS SO UNFAIR AND THE COACHES AND AP ARE SO FAIR!? HUH!? IF THE BCS CAN GET #1 WRONG THEN WHY CAN'T THE COACHES AND AP!? WHAT MAKES THEM SO FUCKING GREAT!? Just so you know Damaramu, I'm 100% with you. After years of split national champions in the pols with relatively little complaint, I wonder why there is such a big outrage now because for the first time ever the BCS system has done what the AP and coaches were doing for years on their own? Frankly, I'm tired of seeing stuff like Michigan and Nebraska or Penn State and Nebraska both going undefeated and then the Big 10 team gets screwed by playing Oregon or Wazoo in the Rose Bowl while Nebraska gets to play a top 3 team when they should be matched up with each other in a battle of undefeated teams. I'll live with split national champs in years where no team is good enough to go undefeated if it means when 2 teams do go undefeated we are guaranteed a matchup to determine the undisputed, undefeated national champion.

Apparently you didn't watch college football in 1997. Because that year what the #2 and 3 teams did mattered plenty when it came to creating a split of the national championship. What's especially funny about all this "human national champions" nonsense is that the main reason USC is ranked #1 in the polls and not LSU is because they had a better team last season and got a better preseason ranking this year because of it. Was that the year the coaches gave Tom Osborne a national championship as his going-away present? Exactly.

Is the USA ready for a female president?
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to pappajacks's topic in Current Events
The main questions I would have with Rice are charisma and electability. Aside from that, she's a pretty strong candidate: experienced, intelligent, unlikely to have much baggage from the past. -

Hilary won't even get the nomination unless she goes up against a creampuff lineup in the primaries. If she's up against Al Gore then forget about it. -
You couldn't have made a more predicatable, cookie-cutter smart-mark type answers post if you tried.

I liked Swordfish.

Anyone ever seen Eye of the Beholder? It stars Ashley Judd, Ethan Hawke, and Jason Priestley. Man was a horrid piece of shit that movie was.

I'd want the Jan. 2001 RAW match vs. Austin.

Wow Choken One, about one week ago my mom said the EXACT same thing. I'd never heard of the movie before. I guess this really must be one horrid movie.

Almanacs, the books of terroristic doom!

Maybe the FBI is worried about Muslim terrorists coming back through time in Deloreans with sports almanacs to win bets and finance their terrorist organizations... -

Personally, I watch wrestling to see good matches, not to keep score on who gives "the rub" to who and so on. -
Given where the Cowboys are drafting, I wouldn't mind seeing them pick up a running back. Whether or not Carter stays longterm at QB, Hambrick is definitely not the solution at RB. We could also use some help on the offensive line. If they are going to take a defensive player (not my favorite option to be sure), a DT would be the best fit.

Maybe the US can get Sandra Bullock to help them prevent this plot from being realized. -

Traffic was also done well in that multi-shaded style. As for Swimfan, it was ok as far as the genre goes, nothing special. For some reason, I found the sex scene to be pretty hot despite the brevity and lack of nudity.

This gimmick has already jumped the shark...
