Depends on the game, really.
I have finished all three Call of Duty games recently, but that's it.

System Shock 2: About halfway through the game, you finally get to see another living person aboard the ship. Except the lady who's been giving you instructions is already dead..it's the AI from the first game, SHODAN.

ePSXe should play pretty much anything.
-
Japan sold about half of that, which isn't bad.
-
Oh, come on.
This is the company that did corpse fucking. This isn't nearly as bad as that was.
-
Actually, some games don't even have region coding..
-
I suppose this should be in the SD! thread, but it's not strictly related to that game.
When Nintendo did unlockable content by connecting the GBA to the GC, that was fine.
When they try it with the PSP to PS2 (With Jake Roberts being unlockable), people are bitching about how much BS it is.
-
How is that any different from GameFAQs normally?
-
I don't think any console has had a problem-free launch, anyway.
Hell, it wasn't just the launch PS2s that were bad. The next four or five models were, too.
-
Well, by hype I mean all the displays in the stores, people cramming in check on preorders and clerks trying to push you into preordering a 360 for the 9th shipment and people talking about camping out at department stores.I haven't heard anything much about KD except for the release of the sequel recently (and it's nomination for the VGAs). The PSP game is getting written off because of the expectedly bad controls.
It's a console launch. When a launch isn't like that, then it's time to worry.

I'm sick of the XB360 hype. There's 360 hype? I mostly just see people talking about how it's not time for next gen and how PD Zero looks awful.
Heh, that's pretty much it.
If there's anything I'm tired of, it's people hyping Katamari Damacy. Shut the fuck up about it, already!

I've seen worse things on this board than crying over a wrestler's death.
Like crying when Benoit won the title, or the massive love Joss Whedon seems to get, even considering his complete lack of talent.

The in-game songs are bad, but not nearly as bad as the "random screaming BGM", which seems to have finally died. About fucking time.
Still dissapointed in the number of textures for pants/shirts/etc..it's the exact same ones as last year. Pathetic!

33 pages, and nobody's added the W in Smackdown to the title of the thread yet?
-
COD2 is FAR better than the first, and the first game was great.
-
To be fair, IGN has tended to be horrible at reviews, especially wrestling games. They overrate games A LOT.Still, I'd expect this to be a solid 8-9/10 for wrestling fans, so I'm hopeful and confident that they got this one right.
Yeah. I don't think SVR last year even deserved anywhere in the 8 range because it was so disappointing because of the crappy Season mode, lacked the good features from HCTP (roster editing), weak roster, etc...
As for the "waiting for another fleeting moment of conditional control", did GamePro actually mean to say that there are too many menus to go through just to get into the in-match gameplay?
It seems like they were downing the reversal system, which was a problem for the last few games, where there would be several moments of just reversing..

And as a nice coda to this discussion, FFVII just ranked #1 on GameFAQS best game ever poll. What a shock that is. Considering a good 80% of GameFAQs worships Square..(and Nintendo, but that's another thing entirely).
-
My thoughts: If you're stupid enough to sign the contract, you're stuck with what you have to do.
-
Nice screenshot, but who says the gameplay won't suck?AKA WrestleMania 21 syndrome
or "every game in the Smackdown series" syndrome.
-
Personally, I don't know what the big deal is with backwards compatibility, especially because an Xbox isn't that expensive..
-
I'm not seeing anything screenshot wise for any game that shows anything that couldn't be done on an Xbox now although that singlethreaded bit might be some reason for that. Plus all the games are supposedly still running in 30fps, which for such a powerful machine is kinda sad.Dude, I don't know where you got thsoe ideas from, but they are just patently incorrect.
I've seen the screenshots of most of the launch games, and aside from a few screenshots which are impressive, most of the stuff I've seen looks like it could have easily been done on the X Box or any other console now.
As for the 30fps thing, Its in the thread over on Joystiq about Madden 2006 on Xbox 360 only running 30fps. The PS2/X Box versions run at 30fps, and yet you've got a supposedly much more powerful console running a supposedly built from the ground up version of Madden and its still running 30fps.
This -is- EA we're talking about. They half-ass anything they can.
-
So they refuse to give us two-player season mode, but the GM mode gets it?
They're just too lazy to adjust the linear-as-fuck storylines to allow for an MP season mode, I think.
-
A couple of our guys went to see it a few weeks ago and they say it's teh game the 360 was made for. "Fable-beater, hands teh fuck down" was what I was told. So there ya go.
That's what I like to hear, although now I'm impatient for Nov. 22 so I can fire that baby up
(Or whenever Oblivion gets its release, I even kinda hope it gets pushed back just so they can make it as polished as possible.)
They've been working on it for a few years now, so I think it should be polished enough.
-
I was REALLY hoping EA would get the liscense and use the Def Jam engine for this, but right now I'm happy they finally got a game. We'll have to wait to see how it turns out.EA? No thanks.
