  1. I was always confused w/ the JJ/Holly & Savio/Goldust title switches. It was the same deal as faces won the titles w/ screwy finishes, Tunney/Monsoon holds it up and the heel wins the rematch.

I particularly marked out for the JJ/Holly debacle since it happened on the nothing happening Action Zone. Seeing angles on the B & C shows always meant more to me growing up than seeing Raw/1980s SuperStars gobble up all the good stuff. Of course, I missed the rematch as I had a family outing to go to that day or something. Yech.

  2. PWI is reporting, so it must be news, that Vince's two limo drivers have been let go.

It would be awesome for Vince to ride town-to-town w/ the Hardies/Helms . . . only to ride w/ Edge/Christian/Kizarny the next week just to stir shit up among the six.

Vince: Hey there pal, who are you riding w/ to Milwaukee?

D-Lo: Uhhhh Vince, you fired me, remember?

Vince: HA HA HA . . . that's right. I guess that means you won't be needing that Accord you rented.

  3. A notable thing about the 95 Rumble: It began the character trait of "Jerry Lawler: Wrestling Historian" where he spouts facts and figures (noting Razor won the IC title at SummerSlam thanks to Walter Payton, various Rumble stats) which lasted all the way to WrestleMania 11. I think it ended after that PPV.

I loved how Vince seemed disgusted at Lawler's knowledge of the previous Royal Rumble quick trig record of Bushwhacker Luke (or maybe it was Butch).

    See Mickey's hand?

    Mickey's hand?!?

  4. Just watched the 4/11 Raw followed by Haku/Race. Nice to see throne dumping in back-to-back videos. "We got em!" - Heenan . . . gold!

Also watched the AWA chick battle royal. This was no good and made even more painful by Rod Trongard who completely mixed up Candi Devine w/ Debbie Combs the entire match. Cringeworthy. Too bad Verne didn't have the foresight to yell insanities into his headset. If he did, I'm sure Rod would have used a modified Harry Doyle standby "Don't worry, nobody's watchin anyway"

Seemed like someone in Legacy owns the RR89 CV version and wanted to fill in the blanks. Haku/Race, Robin/Martin complete, & the complete Rumble w/ prematch interviews not on the CV were all plopped in this week. Feels like we're getting RR89's deleted scenes.

That Goldust interview regarding his debut clocked in at a whopping 45 seconds or so. "So I wrestled Marty Jannetty and beat him w/ the Curtain Call" was the gyst of it. I miss the creepy Goldust entrance w/ the higher pitched music than he has today.

Vince sounded like he was on acid during the Razor/Tatanka & Razor/Yoko matches from the IC Title ep. For anyone that complains about Don West, take a listen to the headset bully here.

  5. He Stole It . . . is one of my favorite Cole-ism. God forbid a heel wins.

I wish Cole would work Monsoon-isms into his commentary. I want to hear people referred to as "the devious one".

It'd be awesome to hear Cole gripe about how certain moves are "not all that well executed." And getting on the asses of the wrestlers who neglect to hook a leg. Or bitching about how a ref should stick a hand in there and make sure it's not a choke.

    Vince would have a stroke.

  6. Legacy (no, not Randy & Cody. Or on 2nd thought, maybe it was them.) put up their entire January schedule here:

    http://www.wwe.com/subscriptions/247online/overthetop

Some notables are the AWA: Team Challenge Series finals. Those following the AWA on ESPNC have already seen that one. What a mess that match was but noteworthy since IIRC, it's the last original televised match in Verne's AWA.

A battle royal from WCW Saturday Night?

I looked up the Prime Time battle royal on Cawthon's site and it is indeed the one Berzerker won. Huss Huss Huss!

Royal Rumble 1996 will be added too. I really hated Shawn Michaels in this era though the match is fun especially Vader crushing fools after his elimination.

  7. FWIW, the archive is updated.

Perfect timing on the January update since I just finished watching ECW Legacy capping off my viewing of the December videos except for Raw which I usually let add up then KO them in 1-2 sittings.

Not an impressive list for The Fink but I'm guessing we'll get Rockers/Orient Express from 1991. But if I know the Fink, we'll get Bushwhackers/Beverly Brothers instead. Though I may be the only one not to get too angry over that since gaining a new appreciation for the Bushwhackers once I became a 'smark'. Ironic, I know.

  8. I liked that they used real wrestlers, obviously for the wrestling scenes, but just for the shitting around hey how you doing scenes. I wonder if Nigel got anything for his...like one line

Sort of. He was chatting w/ The Ayatollah though it was hard to make out what he was saying since he was pretty much having to listen to a sales pitch for a new car. He was referred to as Nigel by Ram. And he was never given a closeup shot.

  9. Yeah, I thought that was a little bizarre too. Just having Ram toss her a backstage pass w/ the flyer would have erased that.

Sad to say in its own right, but Ram getting familiar and comfortable w/ his deli gig may have been the most uplifting scene in the whole movie. Even when he was bonding w/ his daughter, you knew he was going to fuck that up in short order so that didn't count. Also, anyone else surprised to see Ram not die in the film?

  10. Just watched the 1st half of the 3/90 MSG show (Have no clue when it aired on CoD). The announcers were hyping up WMVI during Powers/Sharpe. Lord Alfred noted it's a good opportunity to throw a big party w/ girls to watch the event. Monsoon, ever the saavy businessman, cut off Hayes noting that he preferred to watch ppvs by himself. "That way you can sit back and watch it in your underwear or pick your nose" he noted. I guess that explains his whereabouts during RR90.

  11. I vaguely recall a 20 man battle royal shortly after this event on Superstars that Davey Boy Smith won. Anyways- what stuck out in my mind is everyone going after Shawn Michaels at the beginning of the match and Michaels jumping over the top, not wanting to get pummeled.

Really wish I could find it on YouTube or DailyMotion!

Another notable moment was Jerry Lawler hopping around on one foot after getting dumped over the top rope until Bret Hart interfered and eventually stepped on his foot.
