No, there's really not much more they can do. It would help if they had a REAL drug testing policy instead of the easily beatable bullshit that they've got now. I was just saying Doyle was naming ridiculously over-the-top examples where the WWE would've been legally liable if they hadn't done anything. They weren't over-the-top examples. If I suspect that my friend has a cocaine problem and he shows up for work coked out of his mind and me and my other friends report it to upper managment who give him paid leave and pay for his rehab is that an over-the-top example. Without a drug program in place there is no way to know that someone is fucked up until they show up fucked up and concern people. That's the common reason behind any intervention. People are worried about you. Enough with the oh they were legally liable bullshit. Let's just not give those evil bastards any credit whatsoever for trying to save a life. They were doing it just so they weren't legally liable! They've had a drug testing policy in place for one year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was implemented in February of 2006. No other company in the wrestling industry, in the U.S. or international, have anything else in place. The policy seems effective in treating people abusing pain killers and recreational drugs that could impact behavior like those 'over the top' examples. It just has an ill-advised loophole for steroids/testosterone but don't act like it does no good at all.

Yes, they clearly demonstrated that in the early days on Georgia Championship Wrestling when they would come to the ring to Iron Man, clothesline and press slam two dudes, beating them in 20 seconds. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Road Warriors, and they became good big workers but they were roided up freaks as much as anyone else in that time period. Whatever roided up WWF guys from the 80's you are referring to - like Snuka, Orndorf, Hogan, Ventura, Patera, Big John Studd, Rick Rude, Randy Savage, The Warlord, Ultimate Warrior, Road Warriors, etc. all came from other territories where they were pushed and covered heavily by the wrestling press. I guess congress needs to address Bill Apter too.

So you are saying that it's up to an employer to monitor the behavior of an invididual 24 hours a day? I guess Fit Finlay should have been at Eddie Guerrerro's hotel room to smack that bottle of vicodin out of his hands along with the bottle of Jack Daniels he used to swallow it down? The WWE has sent countless people to rehab when a problem presented itself. They also released a lot of talent over the issue as Pete Doyle pointed out. But that's lost on people like you who are going to nitpick and hold them accountable for every little thing. This industry is far from perfect, we all know that but don't cry for "more to be done" and then discredit legitimate examples of action being taken, guys being put through rehab, taken off the show to get treatment, etc. just to win an argument.

The industry in general? Oh, I must have missed the widespread pushing of huge, steroid freaks before the WWF started doing it in the 80's. Well, considering that the 80's WWF steroid freaks came from other territories that Vince raided - I would say, yes, you missed that. It wasn't like the WWF had home grown roid freaks back then. Everyone came from a territory and I would venture to say that most of them had experimeted with steroids. Meltzer (since people around here worship his gospel so much) stated that Dick the Bruiser was on roids as far back as the 60's. Just because people saw that Vince was making a lot of money with Hogan in the WWF and decided that they wanted to get up there and be as big as Hogan, physically and financially, doesn't mean they pressured anyone. WWE can change the perception by not pushing people with size but they don't have a gun to anyone's head saying take steroids.

Wrestlers put pressures on themselves by thinking that the only way they can make money in the business by being on the juice. WWE pushes big guys and they are at fault for that but the company themselves don't put pressure on anyone to roid up. Eddie and Chris were on the juice in ECW and WCW, long before they came to WWE. They got called up for their ability as performers and it was there decision to continue to bulk up thinking they'd be more noticeable to Vince or maybe because they had a little guy complex in a locker room of big guys. Enough of this - these guys don't have any choice because they are pressured by WWE crap. They have every choice there is and it's not WWE's fault if they make the wrong choices, even if Vince does like big guys.

Okay, I'm going to say this one more time. Since when are people invited by the family to attend a funeral? I must have crashed every funeral that I ever attended then. I attended the funeral of my old boss from ten years ago in June. I guess I was out of line. Anyone can pay respect to the deceased, especially if they knew them like JR knew Nancy and Daniel. He admitted that he was asked to attend to represent WWE but that he had a deep love for both of them and wanted to pay his respects. He wasn't sent there to do dirty work and perhaps he shouldn't have responded to the direct question he was asked by the media but it wasn't as if he held a press conference on the steps with Jerry McDivitt and Dr. Black. The reports about him wearing his cowboy hat, sitting in the back of the church and being the first one to leave and being there specifically to spread WWE propaganda are absurd.

Spoiler...? Oh, please. It's on the front page of wwe.com and I never said who won the title. If I told you that Chavo Guerrerro didn't wint the title would that be a spoiler?

Nobody was probably not meant to be taken literally. Of course people drink. It just meant that it wasn't a frat house mentality and few guys actually go out every night and get hammered like they did in the old days.

And Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair have both stated in media interviews, way before the deaths of Eddie and Chris, how shocked they were that so little of the younger guys in the locker room go out and drink that much after shows and instead go back to their rooms or play video games. Some people drink. Some people don't. What Chavo was trying to say, but saying it badly, was that it's not a 70's, 80's and 90's rock n roll locker room any more.

And this is why it's best for WWE to just keep their talent off of television right now and let the attorneys and doctors address questions. These guys look EXTREMELY bad not speaking up about the problems and dancing around the question. It's important for their job (see Mark Henry not getting the title on SD) and protecting their company from potential lawsuits to tow some sort of a company line. WWE will make the changes they need to make internally to the drug testing, wellnesss program, etc. They can't come out publicly and announce this though because they would be acknowledging that there is a problem that they haven't addressed that could have brought on these deaths. The attorney for Nancy's family is waiting for them to screw up and say something to indicate that there was an issue with Chris that they didn't address so there would be a case that WWE's negligence resulted in Nancy and Daniel's death. That can't happen. They could go public and say that they fired Kurt Angle because he failed the testing whenever they are questioned but they don't. It's a publicly traded corporation!!!!! Why people on here and Meltzer can't recognize that is beyond me. I shake my head to when I hear things - it pained me to hear Chavo say those things last night - but there is no other way about it. William Regal did something interesting in saying how out of control things were in WCW and that's why they are out of business. That would be one thing WWE could get away with maybe and there would be fuel to it since Meltzer listed 34 deaths of people that had wrestled in WCW vs. 32 for people that had wrestled in WWF/E and that's including six years of WCW being out of business. And if WWE didn't send anyone to the funeral to represent the company - there would be a hysteria that the WWE was cold and didn't even show up.

Which he pretty much did by saying it wasn't a steroid issue and that horse had to be put to the pasture. Marc Mero was also quoted by a paper from the service about wrestlers dying. I guess he was supposed to say that this wasn't the time to discuss wrestlers dying young and regulating pro wrestling but to just think about Nancy and Daniel. Listen, I'm with you guys on a lot of things in how messed up the WWE's handling of this situation has been. I just have an open mind. What you guys see as 'towing the company line', I see as the only thing to do from a business perspective, Nancy's attorney has made it abundantly clear that they are filing a wrongful death suit and it would be erroenous for WWE to say anything that would add fuel to that lawsuit. They can't come out and say that their testing needs improvement, etc. But nitpicking about someone attending an f'n funeral is just ridiculous.

Yes, I read the article and I'd like to know exactly who sends out invitations to funerals? Yes, I'm sure he was there to represent WWE but the man also knew Nancy Sullivan for years and knew the Benoits so he had as much of a right to be there as Marc Freakin Mero!!! And he explained his side of the story in his blog and it was fine. The media were the ones who shoved the microphone in his face and asked about steroids and his comment was quick and brief. Again, i guess it was alright for the family of Nancy to have the media presence there, you know, that wasn't distracting, disruptive or disrespectful.

Yes, only invited guests are allowed to attend funerals. I get funeral invitiations in my mailbox everyday. Jim Ross didn't know Nancy going back to their NWA/WCW days nor did he know Daniel Benoit who was backstage all the time at shows. How dare he wear his cowboy hat and how dare he address the media - apparently invited guests to the service there for the utmost respect to the deceased - and to ask questions about steroids.

Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart are 2 of the lowest drawing champions of all time......they were treated well as champion and didn't do good numbers. You can say it's the time frame all that....but it's still there. i hate when people say this..... It was a different time and wrestling just wasnt popular...The stars just aligned just right for wrestling to get to the levels it was when the Rock and Stone Cold were king and WCW was ruling the wrestling world But the point of the discussion is that regardless of context, those two were on top when business was down, but it was up for the larger superstars. Diesel was a big dude and he's also the lowest drawing WWE Champion of all time. I think that's a reflection of the popularity of the business at the time and not the physical size of the champion.

Yeah, like Khali isn't on the jungle juice! FROM DAVE MELTZER, WRESTLING OBSERVER It is believed that Marcus Cor Von's son suffers from Gary Coleman Syndrome. His son is actually 20 years old now but has the appearance of a 8 year old. Cor Von had been trying to convince Johnny Ace to give his son a dark match tryout but Ace refused because Vince only wants guys 6'4 and over 250 lbs. It is suspected Cor Von began injecting growth hormone into his son sometime after Wrestlemania hoping to increase his son's size, at least to Black Machismo levels, and he even went as far as to buy his son a Macho Man Randy Savage costume. Cor Von's belief was that since Vince had no idea who Monty Brown was and never watched TNA - Cor Von could get his son a spot by mocking Randy Savage, something Vince has been fond of since the ratings success of the Nacho Man spoofs. Since TNA probably still hasn't trademarked the Black Machismo name the gimmick could easily be put on WWE television without legal ramifications. Johnny Ace wouldn't budge on Vince's size requirment and a distraught Cor Von returned home. He reportedly travelled a bit out of his way to the Serengeti. Here he entered a cave and met with his witch doctor who gave him a relatively high amount of jungle moo kaka. I first became familiar with jungle moo kaka in the early 70's California scene. It was rumored that Rocky Soulman Johnson was faster and quieter, like a lion jumping his prey, thanks in part to his jungle moo kaka use. Jungle moo kaka was also found in Curt Hennig's system at the time of his death with everything else imagineable. The coroner believed that the jungle moo kaka and cocaine led to his death. Pistol Pez Whatley was also big time into jungle moo kaka. Akeem, the African Dream, is supposedly down to 91 pounds now, his body ravaged by the effects of jungle moo kaka. Reverend Slick once told me 80% of the WWF locker room of the late 80's was on jungle moo kaka. Cor Von did not know that Rob Feinstein had been chatting with his son on Yahoo Messenger and had lured his son to a hotel room, promising him a big time indie wrestling contract. Cor Von was tipped off by Pat Patterson who had been lured to the same hotel room by Feinstein. Cor Von busted into the wrong hotel room initially and POUNCED Mongo Steve McMichael, who was titty banging his ex-wife Debra, now a high dollar escort in the area, who will occassionally go on television and name wrestlers that beat her. When he busted into another room, Feinstein and the boy moved to the side, stepping away from the POUNCE causing Cor Von to POUNCE the fern plant out the window.

YOU IDIOT! Blackman had a serious, almost life threatening bout with malaria a few years ago, obviously he's been in the jungle! PAY ATTENTION! Do you think people in Canada just come down with malaria? Lance Storm is a perfect example of a Canadian that never came down with with malaria.

Papa Shango is scheduled to appear on Dan Abrams tonight, perhaps he'll address the witch doctor from the Serengeti rumors. Jake Roberts is set for Hannity and Colmes too. Ed Ferrara is bringing back the Oklahoma character and will be on Glen Beck to discuss Marcus Cor Von's football background, both professional and college ball. Steve Williams will be joining him.

This needs to be put to rest. He had ten times the normal amount of testosterone in his body. Do you think he was taking these incredibly large doses solely due to his low testosterone problem, or for bodybuilding purposes? It's not even cryptic or ambiguous, it's a fairly simple question and it has a simple answer. And the medical examiner acted like it was no big deal and levels of the prescription drugs weren't anything beyond therapeutic levels. The WWE test administrator said a T/E ratio couldn't be determined really through urine but only blood really. In a recent Observer Meltzer said that Benoit's low testosterone was pretty severe from his years of steroid abuse. Lower than Billy Graham's and Benoit was only 40 years old. Do I personally think he took testosterone for bodybuilding purposes? It's possible. Very possible actually. We knew three weeks ago when the doctor came public that testosterone was going to be present based on his prescription. Everyone was expecting other types of anabolic steroids and there weren't any. Just someone that lost his mojo.

The medical examiner had a lot of opinions. I find it ironic that certain people here will quote the medical examiner's opinion when it's good in proving their point (in this case) but shy away from it when it opposes their point (his testosterone was high but he was most likely being treated for a testicular problem and there were no anabolic steroids bodybuilding type steroids in his system). I never insinuated that her being drunk justified her being murdered. It's just that the examiner said that she would be legally drunk with that alcohol ratio but it's likely that number was elevated because of the decomposition. If she was actually drunk it could add a whole other dimension to what went on inside the house. Nobody knows. Everyone is dead. She could have been drunk, belingerent, telling him that she was leaving, taking his money, whatever. She could have had Daniel locked in a closet. Or she could have been a completely innocent victim to a raging abusive lunatic.
