Pretty good shot by Kobe with 8.6 to go.

The one thing that annoys me in the WWE folder (and it looks like many here share this) is the people who make random, mindles, anti-smark comments. Like the "it's agree with whatever Dave Meltzer, and the majority of smarks say, or you're an idiot" stuff. First, if Meltzer, and a majority of others, are reporting then in all likelihood its probably accurate. Second...this is a smartmarks board, Im sure theres stuff like Yahoo chat and whatnot for the mark audience who enjoy Monday Night Raw no matter what is shown to them. If you really like Randy Orton...try explaining that with a bit more reasoning than 'hes dreamy'. If you're a fan of big hoss wrestlers or McMahon soap opera storylines then explain your reasoning as to why that is better entertainment to you than Chris Benoit, etc. If you cant back up your arguments with anything but gut feelings than you probably should discuss them at a more marky messageboard. If you disagree with much of the smarks shared opinions...why are you here? That seemed to be one of MikeSC's biggest problems, constant pointless negative trolling in the TNA folder. There are plenty of options to talk about here and on other sites...why limit yourself to topics you dont like for the sole purpose of dragging down conversation?

Do they do any songs from the various solo projects live?

nope. only levon. better leave it as such too. Sorry, bud, it was a good cover. Remember, Greg Allman is from the South as well so he can convery that kind of emotion like Levon could. Im not saying it was better, it wasnt...but it was a very good cover. The Grateful Dead are also on record doing a much lesser cover.

Uh...Matt Dillon as a GREASER. -
The biggest reason why those fights are bigger for PBF is that Bobby Arum has done a real poor job of promoting Margarito. He was coming off an impressive ESPN win and the Cintron win then got bumped when the Rahman-Klit fight was canceled...now he is set to headline a $40 ppv that noone but a portion of the Hispanic audience will see. PBF' people have shown an unwillingness to match up with Margarito (certainly this has some to do with the danger he would bring) but Arum isnt helping anthing by keeping his guy well under the radar. Remember evandersear, just because one guy beat another guy doesnt usually mean anything. Thats been shown time and time again in boxing. We had these examples already this year on Showtime. London papers are reporting that Hatton may in fact not take ANY tuneups and could indeed meet PBF on Apr8.

I would like to add that I saw some of an Allman Bros concert last summer and after hearing 'Midnight Rider' I started walking away to find my friends that had wandered away after gobbling some acid. The next thing I heard was 'Virgil Cain is the name and I served on the Danville train'...I immediately swiveled back to watch their awesome Band cover and then went to check the buds.

Yeah, if Zab brought his 'Garden game' to PBF it would have been worse than the Gatti massacre. Mayweather (or at least his people) dont seem to want any part of Antonio Margarito (who is set to get almost no exposure headlining an under-the-radar ppv for 40$ next month) as he is alot like JL Castillo only bigger/stronger and JLC gave Floyd a couple real struggles at 135. Hatton will probably take at least one tuneup fight in America...then, if there will be any welter superfight this year it will probably be Hatton-PBF. Great fight and Ricky definitly has a chance...though not as good as Margarito's would be.

In all seriousness....Tool should have a new cd out and a tour by Fall.

Are any of these voters embarassed at how stupid it looks that a guy isn't hall of fame material for 12 years...but on the 13th year of eligibility - WOOOO! Hell of a guy!

Damien Rice, nor Saul Williams, should be labeled 'jambands'...but, unfortunately, many people have this assumption that the Bonnaroo festival is nothing but jambands. Its not even close.

This is my list of the ten best bands/artists that I had the privilege of seeing this year... 1.Saul Williams - Bonnaroo05 - This was incredible on a rare level…a moment where I felt like I was inside all the power and glory of a strange religious fervor. Only two previous shows I had been to can be compared to this…seeing the great Neil Young on his Greendale tour and bouncing to Relative Ash’s raw emotion as a teenager. Saul Williams opened his set at around 12:45 am by mentioning how great it was to be in ‘Tennessee…a great state and birthplace of the KKK’ then continuing for an hour of nonstop poetry on the state of our culture. It was like watching the ghosts of Allen Ginsberg and Tupac Shakur descend for just one night. 2.Modest Mouse - Madison WI, June - Since November 2004 I have seen Mouse 5 times and this was the best show of this year, matching that first time at Radio City Music Hall. This show took place in between festivals in Washington and Tennessee (both for myself and this band) so my mind was in a perfect crazed place. The venue (Orpheum Theatre) is a nice setting for any band so that helped as well. 3. Slipknot - Madison WI, April - Third time seeing this band was my favorite for one big reason…I waited several hours so I could stand against the front railing and actually see everything on stage for the entire set. Slipknot still brings amazing energy levels to their shows and the kids that follow the elitist sheep herd are only depriving themselves of a very fun live act. On the downside the deep bruising to ribs/chest didn’t go away for along time. 4. Bright Eyes - Milwaukee, January - Conor Oberst, for all his indie pretentiousness, puts on a damn good show. The set clocked in at around 2 hours and saw Oberst enjoy several Pabst Blue Ribbons (Guinness for myself), play his awesome anti-Bush song for one of the first times, and smash his guitar. Really fun stuff that included a lot of older songs and an emphasis on his newest acoustic disc. 5. The Pixies - Sasquatch Fest, Gorge, May- Finally…I got to see one of the bands Ive wanted to for many years. A moment of good luck allowed me to get as close as second row for the headlining set at Sasquatch fest. Great musicians and a perfect headlining set to close a day of music that included Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, Be Good Tanyas, Modest Mouse, Dears, and… 6. Kanye West -Sasquatch - Before this I was just a mild fan of Kanye and was just interested in seeing if he could pull off live rapping in front of a distinctly foreign audience. He did so in extravagant fashion with every god track from College Dropout and previews of Late Registration sounding absolutely perfect and often better than recorded versions. The man has earned his arrogance. 7. Blackalicious - Madison November - Another example of why hiphop can be the best live music. Gift of Gab brings a serious Biggie Smalls vibe to his craft and it only adds to the show. I was hypnotized as he counted syllables on his fingers and rapped fast as Carl Lewis ever moved his legs. 8.Travelin’ Revue (Glen Phillips, Dan Wilson, Garrison Starr) - Madison WI October - Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket) represented a band that Ive wanted to see since I was an 8 year old listening to pop radio, Dan Wilson seemed like a good match, and I had know idea who Starr was. The lineup, with all onstage at once, trading songs and banter worked perfectly. Really fun show. 9. Iron & Wine - Bonnaroo05 - Sam Beam’s musical outfit is some of the most passionate, romantic music I have ever heard. Elegant originals like ‘Jezebel’ and a burning cover of Neil Young’s classic ‘Mr Soul’ made this set simply awesome. 10. Motion City Soundtrack - La Crosse WI March- This was just fun pop punk stuff that left me sweaty happy. This band will probably follow FallOut Boy to mainstream success and feel the scorn of elitism but to me theyre just a good time band. Honorable Mentions - Cocorosie, Tsunami Bomb, Shadows Fall, De La Soul, Arcade Fire, Dears, ZionI, Ratdog, Allman Bros, Josh Ritter, Lamb of God, Jurassic5, Matisyahu, Be Good Tanyas, Melee, Clumsy Lovers, and DJ Krush.

The Fallout: PBF appears to still be going ahead with the Apr8 date but (unlike with the Morales-Pacquiao situation for obvious reasons) will not be meeting Zab Judah. Despite what a few people think/hope it wont be against Antonio Margarito either. He will either meet Carlos Baldomir on that date, an equal opponent without a belt, or, less likely, meet Ricky Hatton. My guess is we'll have to wait until October or later for a chance of PBF-Hatton as Ricky has indicated he wants a couple tuneups first. Zab Judah, his father, and his fanbase have been very busy making excuse this week. He still wants the PBF fight but will probably have to settle for a Baldomir rematch or less for awhile. If anyone can find Cory Spinks maybe they will go a third time. Don King has said that Bell's first defense of the undisputed cruiser title will be against Steve Cunningham. Jean Marc Mormeck presumably wants a rematch and will probably get one (we can all look forward to that). Dale Brown is pleading for a title shot (he deserves it having barely lost a controversial elimination match to Bell last year) but is no better than third in line. Brown meets Felix Cora in another elimiator fight on ESPN soon and will have an even bigger mandate for a shot if he can win that.

I would just like to add that (in light of the recent ridiculousness about my 'jamband love' in the emo thread) if it werent for Neil Young's Greendale tour in '04 a Bonnaroo performance would have been the best show I had seen that year as well. Damien Rice. Maybe this year will have another personal fave at Bonnaroo...another jamband like Rice or Saul Williams.

You're calling My Humps and Lindsey Lohan boring, over-dramatic "faux-indie" tripe? LindsAy I think he's using "faux indie tripe" as a reason to say any Arcade Fire song is the worst of 2005 behind the other stuff. Redbaron still hasn't elaborated on his description, incidentally. TSM probably doesnt work for him yet. Aracde Fire is faux like Armani.

Why did Heyman have to call in to report this 'producing' after the fact? Nobody at wwe bothered to call Heyman or watch videos or basically do any research on Joey's announcing style? This 'producing' thing shouldnt matter anyway....comnsidering how many other wwe announcers have had all their lines piped to them through an earpiece.

Hes sounded fine on the rare occasions that Ive caught Raw. He even sells the stupid shit going on convincingly....or at least tries to. Joey seems like a less-stuttering Jim Ross to me. What exactly is Vince looking for? More talk throughout the show about the McMahon family?
