New thread for posting pictures of yourself.

As someone who's worked with printers quite a bit in the last six years, yes, it would be rather nightmarish. You'd have to have at least one IT guy at every polling place in the country, never mind the spare paper and toner you'd need. The costs would be thru the roof, and all it would do is gum up a process that's already pretty gummy.

Edited for accuracy.

I signed up for Insider for a year, more than a year ago. My account still works. I don't recall seeing an automatic renewal charge on my credit card, so if ESPN just goobed up and kept my account active, yay for me.

Yeah, she's quite a saucy one, too.

It had no traffic when it existed before. I doubt people will suddenly rush to it to talk about the latest crappy new menu item at McDonald's just because it's there again. So no, the Food folder will not be returning. General Chat houses its material nicely.

Rant would use a commie scheme like the 46...

I would say Carter is taking a big shit on his legacy, but it's not like he has much of one to soil.

Pat Robertson: "I warned Bush on Iraq"
Dr. Tom replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
Hume would have done a much better job, IMO. Schieffer was as awful as I'd expect someone from the rancid and biased CBS News division to be. I guess the only thing worse would have been Rather himself as moderator, since he would have asked loaded questions about his precious fake memos while giving Kerry a stress-relieving handjob. -
Indeed. His numbers are so far above everyone else at that position that it's crazy. You could say that Rice is arguably the greatest player to suit up in the NFL, and that would be accurate. But he still shouldn't be wearing Largent's number.

Tim McCarver is indeed the suck. I like Buck, and Leiter's been surprisingly good thus far. I don't know if he has the experience to be the lead color man in the World Series broadcast booth, but he definitely deserves a seat in it. I know they'll use TIMMAY because he's old and everyone knows him, but the best WS crew Fox could assemble would be Buck, Lyons, and Leiter.

What burning software are you trying to use? No idea what "screwed music" is.

How does Athlon 3200 compare to a p4 2.8-3.2GHz?
Dr. Tom replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Technology
To a point, yes. AMD CPU's perform more instructions per clock cycle, which is why they can compete with Intel chips despite a lower clock speed. An Athlon 3200 doesn't actually run at 3.2 GHz; without seeing the figures, I'd guess it to be 2.7 or so. But the greater number of instructions per clock cycle make it equivalent. For the vast majority of users, there will not be a noticable performance difference between equivalent AMD and Intel chips. AMD has overheating problems, though. Tom's Hardware did a test where they pulled the plug on the CPU cooling fan to see how the chips would do. Intel's chips immediately slowed themselves down so they could continue to run at a safe temperature. AMD's burst into flames (literally) within about two seconds. I'd owned AMD chips forever until I got a P4 2.4 GHz a while ago. It's been nothing but a dream to use. -
Voting more than once. I'm with the Colonel in thinking that "disenfranchised" is a loaded term. Convicted felons are disenfranchised by law, and while I don't necessarily agree with that, I think someone voting more than once is worse.

If Safe Mode doesn't work, then I doubt this will work, either, but you can try it. From the same F8 menu, select Last Known Good Configuration. If that doesn't work, poke around in Microsoft's knowledgebases and see what they suggest for dealing with their shitty service packs.

Cheney: "Terrorists May Bomb U.S. Cities"
Dr. Tom replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
I think Cheney has always had a point (and Bush, too, when he mentioned it in the debates) about Kerry having a September 10th mindset. He obviously does. How else to explain the fact that he wants to give nuclear technology to Iran, a country his own national security spokesman takes to task (without mentioning Kerry's brilliant plan to make them an even bigger threat)? How else to explain his desire to rely on alliances that simply can't be made in the case of Iraq? The global test? He's definitely a 9/10 thinker, and I for one think a Kerry presidency would be absolutely disastrous for the US from an anti-terror perspective. -
Yeah. I'm in Rockville often enough, and that's close to DC. The last time I was in nothern VA was about a month ago, when I was at GMU.

Considering the number of dead people who somehow manage to vote in every election, that requirement seems somewhat less than stringent. BTW, "weenie-spined" had me laughing for several minutes.

No, no, no, no, no, and I don't know anything about the guy.

I caught this past week's episode, the first I've seen. I liked some of the dark humor in it. The show's not great, but as long as it keeps doing what it does, it should remain decent and watchable. And I'd still stick it to Teri Hatcher...

^ That's what she said... Sorry, couldn't resist.

You may have a + Drive, which will only take +R and +RW media. Try burning with a DVD+R and see if that works. They're equivalent in price to DVD-R discs, so if you bought a spindle of the -R, you should be able to exchange them for the +R.

SP2 is a colossal piece of shit. Don't install it. If you did, you just might be fucked. See if you can boot up in Safe Mode (hit F8 when you first see the "Starting Windows" screen) and uninstall it. BTW, there's a pirated key that will allow you to download the service packs. Um, so I've heard...

Viruses don't really affect the CPU. About the worst they can do is erase your hard drive, but that's done thru software. Viruses really can't affect your hardware at all. In a more serious reply than my first one, which was offered in the spirit as the irony in asking for help in finding self-help books, check out sites like Tom's Hardware (no relation) and Hard OCR for more information about problems specific to a CPU. The biggest is overheating, and there are a bunch of reason why it can happen.
