    What's your major?

Okay gtd, can't we just put it down to a difference in opinion, and also a difference in countries. I don't want to get started on the "In my country....." shit, but maybe that has got a bit to do with it.

    What's your major?

First of all, i'm not Johnson. I've been here for almost two years and i haven't got into an arguement until now. Also i'm probably much better looking. Anyways, i could have spent my time coming up with a logical, rational arguement. But you are so highly strung, i just couldn't pass up such a golden oppurtunity to take the piss. And calling me an <<ignorant little shit>> right off the bat isn't exactly going to earn you any brownie points now is it? Okay so lets address this, Re: <<lazy, stupid drunks>>maybe its different over there, but it seems to me that the one of the biggest purposes of Uni is to allow students to drink copius amounts of alcohol. Unfortunatly, if you are doing a degree in say, medicine or actuary you probably wouldn't have a lot of time to get pissed. But with a Film Studies course for example, you can turn up to class, copy a few notes and then go down the pub. Its a fact that you only need average grades to do Film Studies, otherwise universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol and Durham would offer the course. They don't. Re the fact that a Film Studies major doesn't offer many career oppurtunities. Teaching Film studies is not a job for life, there isn't much of a demand for them. Think about, if a college/school didn't have enough Maths teachers, they'd have to put their price up until they could recruit some. Demand for Film studies teachers is rather elastic, if they were short of students or teachers then they'd just stop offering in the course. Its a fashionable subject at the moment, no doubt about that, but i really don't think its permenant. A few years ago every school needed a sewing/needle work teacher. I very much doubt that there's any demand for them now. Maybe i'm wrong, but to me it seems to be a bit of a fad. As for making films, well thats all well and good, i want to own a nightclub when i grow up but i'm not going to be taking a Bsc in "Running a nightclub". We can argue about this until the cows come home and its doubtful that either of us are going to give an inch. But what i will say is, there are many many people who have the same opinion as me. When i was choosing my classes for this year, i jokingly suggested that i might take Film Studies, my mother thought that was such a stupid idea that she was about to pick up the prospectus and hit me over the head with it. Also, i suggested taking Business studies to my uncles and they both told me to take more acedemic subjects because thats what employers look for. Also, these days everyone and their dogs has a degree of some kind, the competition for jobs is more fierce than ever. When you go out to find a job, you'll not only be competing with Film Studies graduates, but a bunch of other graduates as well. Its very likely that you'll end up losing a job to a Physics/Maths/IT graduate because those degrees teach you more about logic and problem solving etc. So yeah that's my arguement against Film Studies, i could go on and tell you some facts about the people i know who are taking Film Studies, but its pretty easy to dispute and what applies in a South Wales commumnity college may not be as relevent to you, because our education systems up to the age of 18 are very different. So that's me done. I was having more fun calling you an "arsey little twat" and all that, but i supposed i had to back my arguement up sooner or later.

    What's your major?

I think my dear that the point of my posts were clear. At least they were to everyone else reading. Maybe you're a bit slow with these things, being a Film Studies major and all. Don't worry, its not your fault. Recap: Film studies is bollocks. That is all.

    What's your major?

no offence, but you're a judgmental little shit. you are so right. no one in the history of the world could ever possibly want to major in film studies for the purpose of someday teaching film studies at a college or making films. good thing you didn't talk that kind of shit about philosophy majors, or i would've gotten really pissed. Oh shut up you arsey little twat. If your studying for a film studies degree in Shitville College its no skin off my nose. I'm just making a point. Say two people have an interview, both good kids, same grades etc etc one has a Film Studies Major, and the other Maths or Physics. Who is going to get the job 9 times out of ten? As as for teaching Film Studies, you are so right, my community college is literally crying out for more Film Studies teachers to cope with the massive demand. Um yeah whatever. If you end up directing the latest big money blockbuster on the back of your film studies major, i'll hold up my hands and admit you were right. Until then, i'll have my opinion and you are entitled to yours.

    What's your major?

No offence but some of you took really shitty majors. Marneys was one of the better ones. I'm sorry but a Film studies major (for example)is for people who just want to go to uni to get drunk, or are too stupid/lazy to get a proper degree.

    Long-haired guys

Strange, i always imagined you with a blonde crew-cut. Nah, browm longish hair, goatee, 6'0. I'll probably put a photo up sometime for people to judge. Why did you think I had a blonde crew-cut? Do I sound like a German excange-student or something? For some reason i always imagined you being really short, skinny with shaved blonde hair and one of those nylon jackets you get from the market. Oh yeah, and i thought you had a gold earing and an eyebrow piercing and really dark eyes, like a druggie. Oh and you wear black loafers with jeans and a fake burberry shirt. I have no idea why. You just give out those vibes.

^Dido fan?! cool. Hair doesn't bother me that much, if a guy has nice teeth and nice eyes i could put up with him having a frizzy green perm.

    Long-haired guys

I have noticed though, when boys have long hair its usually nicer and in better condition than girls hair. That makes me really jealous, but then again it's probably because boys don't spend ages blow-drying and straightening it.

    Long-haired guys

I don't mind if its long as long as its clean. But really, i think you need to have a nice face to pull off long hair. Ugly guys with long hair=not good.
