Well, since I was invited to come back multiple times, by multiple people: Suffice it to say that although I don't go out of my way to prove that I'm not a racist, I tend to judge people individually when they act towards me as individuals, and as a stereotype of a race when they offend me - because in such circumstances I can't be bothered to give any further thought to it. In the case in question the girl called me "disgusting" for smoking in the smoking area of a restaurant which explicitly permitted it. I didn't initiate the conflict. But once she was deliberately rude to me, I didn't think there was any reason to hold back. Engaging in a tit-for-tat exchange solves nothing. Either end it, or keep your mouth shut. I chose to end it. So yes, I was deliberately offensive. Yes, I made a very dehumanizing reference. And yes, I used her skin color to do so, precisely because it would provoke not only her but her boyfriend/husband/whatever. And it would inevitably end badly for them both when he reacted, as I knew he would. Had it been a German couple, I might have made a snide remark about Goering's weakness for tobacco despite his attempt to wean himself off it while imprisoned at Nuremberg. There's nothing to admit. The relationship between Kerry's official campaign and the 527s campaigning for Kerry can be characterised as incestuous at best. People move from one to another frequently and freely. There is no difference between them. The fact that he isn't legally responsible for their activities doesn't mean that no connexion exists, and it doesn't absolve him of moral responsibility for their actions. Until and unless he specifically disavows them, denounces them, and instructs them in so many words to immediately and permanently cease and desist from campaigning explicitly on his behalf they are part and parcel of his campaign, and he is responsible for everything they do. He bears the ultimate responsibility for what he allows anyone to do in his name. You know this as well as I do.
