    The Summerslam Thread

ntl did carry the event. I mean, I'm on ntl and I watched it. Except for the Edge/Hardy match when the feed dissapeared. But I managed to catch it on the replay.

Jim Ross is one funny bastard

Kinda like when he calls a match "bowling shoe ugly", you just know it's a stinker. What's that?

  6. Well that was the major draw of the show and it did get coverage on ESPN and Sports Illustrated and things like that... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know he got a lot of coverage but being a Brit I don't really know who Larence Taylor is other than him being a football player. So, I was wondering if it was really such a big deal or just the WWF making it out that way.

That was at Summerslam '01 after the Austin/Angle title match. J.R. was going off on how Austin couldn't BY GOD! beat Kurt Angle and that Heyman had to admit it. Heyman looks at him, turn to the camera and plugs the debut of Excess the next week. I remember J.R. just looking pissed when he did that. Great stuff.
  9. After watching Royal Rumble '95 the other day I was just wondering something. Why was Bam Bam Bigelow the guy chosen to face Lawrence Taylor at Wrestlemania XI? I mean, Bam Bam had pretty much been a midcarder in the WWF and then he becomes the centre of attention in the lead up to the biggest show of the year. Also, how big a deal was it to have L.T. involved in the event?

"Little Sister" - Queens of the Stone Age
  11. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (8/10) My second favourite Wes Anderson film, right behind Bottle Rocket. A fantastically put together comedy. Bill Murray is great in the lead role but, for me, Willem Dofoe is man.

Why the hell did he say that anyway?
  15. This may sound odd but I was wondering if anyone knew what "Evart Enterprises" was? I've noticed the name at the end of WWF from the 90's and was wondering what the deal was.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

The new Supergrass album ("Road to Rouen") is very unlike them and is very good for it.

Royal Rumble Match - WWF Royal Rumble 1995 I have to say that this match was far better then I remember it. In fact, most of the card was pretty good with the exception of I.R.S. vs. Undertaker. The match was pretty much action all the way through with it never letting up. This was likely due to the 60 second intervals between guys instead of the standard two minutes. Does anyone know why they changed it that year? However, the 60 seconds intervals was also meant that there were too many guys in the ring at once and most of them were jobbers. Still a good match though. There is a point of interest during the commentary. When Jerry Lawler makes reference to both Lex Luger and Bret Hart winning the match last year Vince says: "Well, that’ll NEVER happen again, I promise you.". Ten years later and the same thing happens again.

    SNME Comp I Made...Creative Criticisms?

I take it these are good matches then? I'm just curious becuase I picked up an old tape last week and it has these two matches on it. I've been looking forward to them and was wondering how good they were.
  21. Warrior didn't drop the belt to Mr. Perfect. Perfect via a tournment when he best Tito Santana in the final. This was because the title was made vacant after Warrior won the WWF Championship. That's not to say they didn't have a match for the title however.

    Favorite Gimmick Match?

On a forklife remember, no pole could hold the former WCW Tag Team Champion. Anyway, my favourite is the Royal Rumble match. Granted, poor booking can make it shitty but it's still a match I look forward to every year.

Tombstone: The History of the Undertaker

I remember that. Jake closed the casket on his hand and then he DDT'd Paul Bearer and then beat up the Taker with a chair. Don't remember him chasing him but it sounds like it would have happened.
