Bad WrestleMania musical performances? "Get your ass off your shoulders!" - Saliva, WM18 in Toronto

Strangest crowd reaction ever
The Tino Standard replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in General Wrestling
I liked the appreciative golf-clap applause when the ref held up the belt before the Edge-HHH match. -
I'm thinking Mizark Henry was the last to do so.

The Breakdown. He could never do it properly, it is good that it is gone. He had a hard time with it, true, especially when wrestling bigger guys (which is most, considering Jerky isn't that tall). But you know who did that move pretty well? Surprisingly enough, Grand Master Sexay. I remember him busting it out on Raw years before Jericho did it, and he got it spot-on. The only reason I remember this was because it was the move I used as a finisher for my created wrestler on all the video games, yet I'd never seen it done in real life. So when Brian Christopher, of all people did it, I marked out.

I miss that move Jericho used as a finisher for a while as a heel... He'd have the guy in a full nelson, then sweep the leg and spike him face-first.

What the hell happened to HHH's beard?
The Tino Standard replied to iliketurtles's topic in The WWE Folder
He shaved off the chin part and left everything else. That might be the dumbest looking beard I've ever seen in my life. -
Yes. Vince thought a black man with blonde hair would the next heel sensation, so he'd have given Reed a long IC reign. Come on, how could Butch Reed NOT draw money? He was a black guy with BLOND hair who called himself THE NATURAL! That's GOLD, Jerry! Gold!!!

I'd like to see Rey Mysterio come to Raw. He's above the cruiserweight division at this point, and I'd like to see what he could do against some of the big guys on Monday night.

They've scaled everything else down over the last three years, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see "enhancement talent" start appearing on Raw and SmackDown. And for those of you that think they can get away with this because there's no other wrestling on TV, you're making one fatal error: While there's no other WRESTLING, there ARE plenty of other choices on what to watch. People have already had no problem finding other ways to spend Monday and Thursday nights (I can't tell you the last SmackDown I watched for more than 5 minutes). You DO NOT need to give them another reason in the form of jobber matches.

i've read that's what they wanted for WrestleMania VIII but when Hogan announced his leaving after that PPV it changed the plans because: a) Flair was the champ b) Hogan didn't want to lose his retirement match c) Vince didn't want Hogan to retire as WWF Champion (understandable, this was before the monthly PPV era, and unless they did it on house shows or regular TV tapings it wouldve left the WWF without a champion until SummerSlam in August) Hogan had to duck out for a while because this was squarely in the middle of the steroid trial time. He wasn't retiring at all. Notice how most, if not all, of the champions around this time were not the hoss-like (read: "roided up") guys who were the champs before (like Hogan).

I thought the exact same thing. It's one thing if you bring in some big-time, A-list celebrity to do your commercial and he/she acts like a primadonna. But for some no-name to get pissy like that seemed a bit out of line.

For anybody that has this or at least has access to it, what does the channel cost per month?

Possible Location for WrestleMania 22
The Tino Standard replied to res37618's topic in The WWE Folder
Vince McMahon isn't 'up to anything' with Montreal or Calgary. It's just speculation from fanboys that won't let a sleeping dog lie. -
The Associated Press reported THIS on Tuesday. A short while later, the good old "we'll be the last to report it because we're busy checking with 15 sources" AP came out with a follow-up. One of the most incredible fuck-ups by the AP I've seen in years. I mean, just wow.

After the double-DQ on Monday, he kinda did. Jericho was standing in the ring, looking toward the aisle, barking at the ref, and I distinctly read "motherfucker" and "that's a bunch of bullshit" coming from his mouth.

What, exactly, do you consider a "major market"? I can think of a lot of cities bigger than a few of those listed that haven't had a WM. -
WWE Creative Addition, Hogan Possible for Rumble!!
The Tino Standard replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
I really don't think those guys flying on Hogan's jet to Fresno is that big of a deal. They're all buddies from the wrestling industry, and maybe Hogan is just doing them a favor. - Wait a minute! Hulk Hogan doing a favor for someone in the wrestling industry and not having an ulterior motive?! Surely, I must be losing it. -
Can somebody explain to me why it's called the "Winged Eagle Belt"? - Have you ever seen an eagle WITHOUT wings, let alone on a wrestling belt? - Do you realize the current Smackdown title has an eagle spreading its wings too?

Interesting thing I heard about WWE PR dept.
The Tino Standard replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in The WWE Folder
While this is true in theory, it's not always the case in actual practice. I've been to plenty of events where trying to track people down to talk with them has been a nightmare. -

The Tino Standard replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in The WWE Folder
The Internet folks might be having trouble getting interviews, but I had none at all when I dealt with the WWE PR people back in October for the SurSer press conference. I had one-on-one interviews with Vince, Flair and HHH with no problems at all. This might come as a shock to some of you, but at least on the PR side, the WWE came across as a well-organized, first-class operation when I dealt with them. -
Is WWF building to Batista/HHH at Wrestlemania?
The Tino Standard replied to UZI Suicide's topic in The WWE Folder
If they had Orton-Rock, Orton would get booed out of the building, regardless of who the face was supposed to be in the match. And it would happen for all the same reasons Rock was booed when he fought Hogan in Toronto. -
Is WWF building to Batista/HHH at Wrestlemania?
The Tino Standard replied to UZI Suicide's topic in The WWE Folder
It's gotta be Batista telling Triple H to fuck off. Triple H turning on Batista doesn't live up to the buildup. Batista finally killing HHH will blow the roof off the place, Triple H turning on Batista gets a lukewarm response at best, and makes Batista look weak right off the bat. I've got my fingers crossed that they get this right, because they can't afford to blow it like they did with Orton. Exactly. They went the "HHH turns on Evolution member" route for Orton's face turn, and that's been lukewarm at best. It seems like Batista is being primed for a face turn, no doubt. I just hope they don't pull the "Gotcha!" route and try to 'swerve' all of us by having him NOT turn. If I had to take a guess, Batista isn't going to turn right away and be in the WM main event. I bet they stick with the proposed Orton-HHH match, with Orton winning the belt. At some point in the title match, Batista has a chance to interfere to save the day for HHH, but chooses not to. After the match or the next night on Raw, HHH gets all pissed and goes just a LITTLE bit too far in berating Batista, so the big guy says "Fuck this," and gives HHH a long-awaited beatdown. And there's your Batista face turn. -
It's a damn shame because he's basically been thrown under the bus here. You can see how awful the team is without him, so why did he get piled on so much when he was playing? There are so many players on the roster that have no business being in professional football that it's scary. And that includes our "Quarterback of the Future" Luke McCown. Here's my question: The Browns said McCown was going to start the rest of the season so they could see what he's got. He's proven time and again over the last 4 games that he has very little, if anything at all to work with. So NOW what do you do with him? Anyway, back to Garcia. I don't blame him in the least bit for being frustrated by what's gone on this year. He was never the problem, so I don't see why there was a rush to replace him.

I saw TNT wasn't showing it this year, and I had my hopes up that this tradition of running it 24 straight hours might finally be done. Damn you, TBS. It's not that I hate the movie THAT much, but I just really don't think it is THAT great. Every year at my uncle's, they have to have it on ALL day, so I'm sure I'll be seeing it ad nauseum today yet again.
