    WWE news and notes

"For Real" is probably for Benoit t-shirts or something... If you took a drink for every time JR and King said "Benoit is for real" then you'd be a bit tipsy by the end of the show.

    Nostalgia Trip: Jaws (NES)

Don't knock Jaws, man! This was a game I played tons of times when I was little, but could never beat. Now with an NES emulation disc for Dreamcast, I finally got another shot. About six weeks ago, I finally killed Jaws dead. Forget Benoit's title win at Wrestlemania... THIS was a victory 15 years in the making! Horrible game? Maybe. But, DAMN it felt good to kill that big bastard.

Media post: The Final Saturday Night's Main Event

Wow, this was fun to watch. I forgot all about that Bulldog-HBK match, not to mention what it's like to listen to commentator Vince McMahon (especially working with Heenan). Heenan: Does it hurt, Bulldog? What are ya gonna do NOW, Limey?! CLASSIC

    Why ESPN sucks

The only thing I can think of is that he has started making a habit out of whining and bitching every time a black person is cut from a reality show competition and things of that nature. I wouldn't call it "racism" per say, just "really fucking annoying."

WWE Has No Plans To Move Talent To SD!

I'm glad they're not moving people over to SmackDown. They just did a major roster shuffle six weeks ago, so to arbitrarily bring somebody over now would cheapen the draft lottery (which would be twice as bad if they plan to make it an annual event, something that has been rumored). SmackDown needs to suck it up and get its shit together on its own. Trying to save the show by shipping over someone from Raw wouldn't help SmackDown... It would just further expose Raw as being the superior brand.

    Details On New WWE Writer

Also along those lines, that big blackboard of his also kept the characters and each of their feuds straight, meaning that if a guy was specifically against someone, they wouldn't magically start working WITH them without a good explanation. Storylines, for the most part, were very tight under Kreski. What a shame he got fed up to the point where he wanted to leave. At least the Raw writing crew seems to be back on the right track these days.

    Some WWE news items.

So exactly how many matches did Goldberg not get to use the Jackhammer at the end of his run? As I recall, that was the move he beat Lesnar with, plus he didn't wrestle for the six weeks before that while he was shooting his movie. This whole thing sounds like bullshit to me.

I met Mr. Belding last night~!

He was a teen-idol type character they brought in to film a "Say no to drugs" PSA at Bayside. He started macking on Kelly midway through the episode and near the end, the guys find him in the bathroom getting high, making him a total fraud for the commercial he was about to shoot.

I met Mr. Belding last night~!

He's coming to my campus on May 19... I've seen most of the SBTB episodes, but most of my friends are total marks for that show like you wouldn't believe. We'll all be there. If the rest of you have any questions, post 'em and I'll do my best to ask.
  10. Christian =/= main event player. Sorry.

    Why ESPN sucks

    - If the St. Louis Rams didn't exist, I think the 6 p.m. SportsCenter would've imploded a couple years ago. We used to make jokes about it here on a daily basis- It was like the "Stone Cold and Bradshaw vs. The NWO" of ESPN. The Yankees saga is getting entrenched in that role now. - Whoever mentioned Doc Rivers... He's not just a studio guy- ABC/ESPN hired him on as the lead color commentator. He'll be doing the Finals this year with Al Michaels. If you ask me, Brad Nessler got a raw deal. He was a perfectly competent play-by-play guy (and I love him on college football broadcasts), but he got saddled with Tolbert and Walton last year. Of course, the whole Doc Rivers thing is a moot point because he's going to Boston at the end of the playoffs. - Take a drink every time Linda Cohn says "Oh, by the way..." - John Clayton has quite possibly the most disturbing hairline I've ever seen. Just bit the bullet and use the Gillette already, man. - ESPN has started really forcing issues to be much bigger than they actually are. Bonds chasing Mays for No. 3? I DON'T CARE. (Well, actually, he's on my fantasy team, so the HRs are a bonus, but I still don't need to see every ESPN program interrupted to show his at-bats). - I generally despise Dan LeBatard, but his rant last month on women's college basketball during one of those "Voices of SportsCenter" had me giving him a standing ovation in my living room. - I wish SportsCenter went back to showing more highlights. And yes, like it was previously mentioned, it would be nice if the anchors didn't telegraph the results of games before the highlight actually finished (kinda like JR saying after a big move that 'This is DEFINITELY over!').
  12. Years from now, I think that will be the feud that will define this era of the WWE.

    Madden 2005

I just want to see FieldTurf that actually looks like FieldTurf and not just artificial grass. Enough teams have it now that it should be a part of the game. Judging by the pictures I've seen, it looks like I'll have to wait until next year.

Is there a worse finisher than the Spear

The Flying Elbow isn't the most innovative finisher, but I think it's a hell of a lot more convincing than a lot of the crap being used these days.

    List your favorite series' finales

I would have loved to have said the Ed series finale after Season 3, but then the show miraculously survived into another year and had a decidedly sub-par finale to Season 4. Looks like this WILL be the last one too. Bummer.

    NCAA Football 2005 Info

Actually, way back in the day, Madden had this. Back in '92, Madden didn't have the NFL or NFLPA licenses yet, so the league couldn't really say anything about the stuff in the game. Thus, you got awesome things like quarterbacks getting injured, leading to ambulances driving onto the field to get the hurt QBs, running other players over in the process. Also, there was the crowd-storms-the-field bit in the playoffs. In the first round, the home crowd would storm the field after a win. In the second round, they'd storm and shake the goalposts. If you won the championship, the crowd would storm the field, tear down the goalposts, and then fireworks would go off. It was tremendous.

    Masters of Time and Space

Masters of Time and Space Has anybody else played this, or the other game along these lines, Crimson Room? I started playing MOTAS on Saturday night and ended up glued to it for the next two and a half hours... Very entertaining.

    Masters of Time and Space

You got through all 12 levels in 30 minutes? NO WAY. And yeah, the finish is a bit of a downer, but the bright side is that they are supposedly working on more levels, so its more a case of it being "the end... for now." Yeah, it was about half an hour, but i didnt leave my computer, it was late night so nobody on msn was talking, i was concentrating. just think outside the box. then again, i play a lot of these types of games, so they are mostly easy after a while. If you've played a lot of these, could you give me some links to where I could find more games like this?

    Useless sitcom characters

Seven just went upstairs one day and.... never came back. They did the same thing with the Cory Matthews' little sister on Boy Meets World, only she eventually returned a few years later. They even did a joke about it where her first line was "I was in my room for a long time," or something like that.

Vince Russo would love that. The thought of Vince Russo having any association with 24 just made me throw up in my mouth.

If she shows any symptoms, she's finished. They established a 100 percent mortality rate with the virus. Then again, they could have her completely escape the wrath of the virus, get out of the hotel at the end, only to get picked off by a sniper as the season finale goes off the air. You just never know with this show.

The One And Only 24 Season 3 Thread

I think that ending last night left me in stunned silence more than anything... I mean, with Jack Bauer, shit like that just doesn't happen. He always pulls something out of his ass to save the day. To just say "Sorry, Ryan." and then BANG... wow... just wow. BTW, I think Chappelle's fate was pretty much sealed when he OK'd the suicide pills. One more heroic deed before dying, like Mason last year.

The One and Only Backlash Reaction

I don't really have the energy to get into rating every single match, but I thought the WWE tried its absolute best to do a make-good with Canadian fans with that ending. I mean, if the locals there couldn't be happy with Chris Benoit successfully retaining the World title by making Shawn Michaels tap out to a Sharpshooter (a month after Benoit made HHH tap to the Crossface at WM), then I don't know what to tell ya.
