Damn. Yeah I like PNC Park for a show. Angle could get a big hometown pop, and a hardcore match could spill into the Allgeheny River. What fun, what fun. Wrigley Field would also have a cool setting to it...they should arrange camera angles and seating in either ballpark to get an awesome background for the ring for certain shots. Staples Center sucks...only Los Angeles would have like three tiers of skyboxes. On the Igloo thing: I thought it was called Civic Arena first and is now Mellon Arena, but people did and still do call it The Igloo simply because, well, it looks like a giant igloo. I'm bad with keeping up on arena names...I still call Allstate Arena the Rosemont Horizon. For future reference in this thread here are the Wrestlemania hosts thus far to help us come up with other what-should've-beens. Madison Square Garden - New York City Rosemont Horizon - Rosemont, IL SkyDome - Toronto Fleetcenter - Boston First Union Center - Philadelphia Arrowhead Pond - Anaheim, CA Astrodome - Houston Caesar's Palace - Las Vegas Sports Arena - L.A. Civic Center - Hartford, CT Safeco Field - Seattle Trump Plaza - Atlantic City, NJ I think that's all of them. Notable absences: New Orleans Dallas Twin Cities Pittsburgh St. Louis Tampa-St. Pete Miami Atlanta Nashville Washington DC Montreal Phoenix Nassau County (I kid, I kid) Actually, the first portion of WM2 was at the Nassau Coliseum.

Woman tries to pass counterfeit $1 million bill

So, if she ran up a bill of $1675, then tried to pay with gift cards worth a total of $2.32, then how would she only owe $1598? -

Brock Lesnar quits WWE after Mania!
The Tino Standard replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Does anybody else think this might be one of those asinine 'work the smarts' deals? With Goldberg all-but-assured to be gone after Sunday, yet still involved with such a big match, it seems to be a bad thing if the winner of the match seems "too obvious." By planting this idea, now we're left not knowing who will win Sunday, adding some intrigue to the match. I'm just saying... -
I dunno... With a show that is almost 5 hrs long, plus Sunday Night Heat, that is going to be a LONG time to keep the crowd hot. They've struggled to do it for four hrs the last two years.

Bobby Heenan to commentate at WM20
The Tino Standard replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
That would imply that this show HAS a main event. -
Correct. After the shovel incident, Austin refused medical help and contiuned to compete. He then collapsed at a house show in San Jose and was put in the hospital, which lead to the embalming angle. The funny part of that whole angle was that that came during the time when Raw was taped every other week. Taker hit Austin with the shovel on a Monday. They did the embalming/hospital angle the next night at the Raw tapings. Then Austin collapsed in the ring the following Sunday. Nice idea to try to give the house show circuit a boost, but really bad execution considering the taping schedule.
-
That would seem to be pretty accurate. Within the last year or two, they've had Austin do a SportsCenter commercial and appear on the show for an interview. They didn't portray him as a "dumb rassler" in either appearance.

Bobby Heenan to commentate at WM20
The Tino Standard replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
I think he'd work better with Cole and Tazz. Those two are the "new school" commentary team of the WWE and would provide a better contrast to Heenan, the classic old school commentator. Putting him with JR and King would be like "old school meets getting-to-be old school." If he isn't with one of those teams, then he'd need to be with at least a play-by-play guy. Pairing him with Jesse Ventura or Tazz would seem fun, but with two color commentators running amok with no play-by-play guy to anchor things, it could get awkward. -
As you should. Hitting a baseball pitched by a major leaguer is the hardest thing to do in all of sports.
-
Well, that's really just opinion, now isn't it? I mean, I'll agree on the reply stuff, but to just say they're no fun is just your opinion. Somehow, I doubt people would play the game in such great numbers if they didn't get at least some enjoyment from the missions. I love the missions, thank you very much. The side stuff is nice for giving you something to do after you've beaten the storyline, but the missions are the glue that hold the game together.

They already ruined the McNuggets. This is just a further slide down the slippery slope.

Yeah, he definitely seemed a little loopy during that backstage segment where HHH left to go to the nudey bar. It was like he was trying to stammer out a sentence to H and he just couldn't even get words out. Weird.

Not sure if anybody else noticed, but when they made the announcement that the list of WWE Hall of Fame inductees would be revealed today, they used the WM XV theme song in the background. As in-house/stock music goes, it's not bad. And to contribute to the discussion above, I'd mark like a son of a bitch if "Times Like These" was used for WMXX. Foo Fighters are my favorite band.

The Rock's Return Has RAW Tickets Going Fast
The Tino Standard replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in The WWE Folder
Bingo. The Braves are a fine team, they just don't draw anybody. It's especially sad to see all those fans in the upper deck dressed up like empty seats DURING THE PLAYOFFS. Hell, the A's have shitty attendance too. it is embarrasing. Of course their stadium is in the middle of Oakland's ghetto. Not to mention the fact that they took a pretty decent looking stadium and completely ruined it by adding seats when the Raiders moved back to town. Now, it's a shithole in a shitty area. -

The hilly terrain of San Francisco works... Could make for some wild driving missions... Plus, you're all forgetting one potential AWESOME element: Alcatraz. EDIT: Well, crap, after doing some digging, it appears that San Andreas will be based on Los Angeles this time around, not San Fran. So much for the Alcatraz idea. Anyway, according to GTASA.org, a pretty comprehensive GTA: San Andreas site, here's some of the stuff you can expect in the game: Weapons - Nunchucks - Throwing stars - Twin desert eagles - Multi-heat seeking ground to air missiles - Militarygrade weapons Vehicles There isn't a lot of information about San Andreas and the vehicles, but it has been confirmed that in San Andreas you can finally swim, use jet skis, and mini subs. You can also enter the airport and the jumno jets and other aircrafts. Also an rescue helicopter to to amublance missions is now available. Storyline rumors, missions Most rumours resolve around the setting: LA-esque San Andreas during a massive riot. Tommy Vercetti isn't set to reappear as the main character in the game, but instead plays as the fat mob boss who tells you what to do. Your character (unnamed) has to work out a way to get rid of the power-mad Vercetti and take control of the San Andreas underworld. You're hampered by destruction derby-style driving as rioters make life hard for you whilst you attemp varied missions. Riot police are out in force trying to regain control. Players see certain areas fall back into rioters' control, cutting off exits to home or making it very difficult to get freedom. FYI: For those interested in the site I found this stuff on, check out: http://sanandreas.thegtagarage.com/informa...tle=Information

OAO 76th Academy Awards Thread
The Tino Standard replied to Kahran Ramsus's topic in Television & Film
That's the point of editing. The idea is to make every single scene and every single shot mean something. When you have five minutes of nothing happening (esp. in a movie that ends up running around 3 1/2 hrs), you're wasting time and diluting the story. If anything, they cut out too much. As anyone who as actually seen them will tell you, the Extended Editions are far surperior to the theatrical cuts. BTW, you must have hated Lawrence of Arabia. So, if you are freely admitting that they made mistakes with their editing of the theatrical release, then should it still have won an Academy Award for Best Editing? -
Bedpan McMahon was classic, as well as Vince's rant the following week: "YOU VIOLATED ME AUSTIN! YOU VIOLATED ME!!!"

lmao! When was that? I want to say that was in the summer of 99, during the Austin-Taker feud that led to Vince "never being allowed on WWF TV ever again." "When I die, I don't want any WWF superstars at my funeral... No... When I die... I WANT TO GO STRRRRRRRRRRRAIGHT TO HELL!" My friends and I all quoted that for the next two years.

Horrible pasta there. Then again, I come from an Italian family that has homemade spaghetti every Sunday, so my standards are probably higher than most.

For those saying Russo wasn't THAT bad when he was writing for the WWF, I refer you to WM 15. Bad PPV by any standard, HORRIBLE by WrestleMania standard. That show nearly ruined the HIAC concept. Russo had one hot storyline that I remember- The events of the fall of 98, leading to the Survivor Series Deadly Game Tournament. Probably his finest work, but other than that, I'll pass.
-
As bad as the Stephanie-led booking regime can be, I don't even want to think about Russo. He had a few nice things going for him, but his negatives FAAAAAR outweigh his positives.
