Davilex planning on a Miami Vice game
The Tino Standard replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Video Games
If it has more of a tongue-in-cheek approach, presenting it from in 'campy' style from a gone-by era, that could actually work. If they try to make it a serious-type game that would run against GTA and True Crime, it's gonna tank. -
Crisis Meeting Scheduled for RAW

Ricky Steamboat was a HUGE believer in not turning your back on your opponent... Vince is not alone in that mindset. -
IX was held at 4 p.m. Eastern time (the standard for WM and the Royal Rumble back in the day). I could understand them not going back to Caesar's for another WM, but I'm surprised they haven't used it for any other shows, like smaller PPVs. Much cooler setting than the generic Thomas & Mack Center, and probably easier to fill.

I thought the whole idea behind putting Austin into an authoritarian position was that it would eventually lead to him getting drunk with power and turning. He wouldn't necessarily think he was wrong in 98 or 99, he would just become so delusional now that he's on the other side of the power struggle that he would've morphed into everything he originally fought against.

Combine the popularity of that DOA volleyball game with popularity of wrestling games... Hey, games based on much dumber ideas have made a lot of money. And keep in mind, at first, people said Def Jam Vendetta sounded retarded too.

I like the guy on the Yankees in Major League... "How are your wife and my kids?"

Vice City was built on the same engine as III and was made as an extention of that story, only in a new locale. If San Andreas or Sin City does the same thing, I wouldn't label that one GTA IV either.
-
Exactly... I like being surprised rather than having the winner telegraphed weeks in advance. Right now, there are a number of different directions they could go that are all plausible.
-
I believe the rationale was that Vice City was an extension of III, making it GTA: III-b.

What were your favorite bloopers / fluck-ups
The Tino Standard replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in Television & Film
Not so fast my friend! Rocky VI has been green-lighted. -
For the sake of recognizing the franchise's past, San Andreas sounds pretty cool, but man, Vegas would just kick ass. A city based in sin and corruption is just screaming for a GTA-type of game.

7 and 45. Hey, I'm not much of a Hogan fan, but there was something epic about both of those matches.

Nunzio isn't a waste of space. Yes he is.

I was drunk off my ass during last year's Rumble PPV, but it still didn't help me in watching the Steiner-HHH match. I'm figuring that all the alcohol in the world won't make a championship match with Hardcore Holly any better this year.

Just wait one day Raw will lose its time spot for NASCAR, Monster Trucks, Rodeo. Only if it was on the old country TNN. I dunno... NASCAR's trying pretty hard to get mainstream and drop the 'redneck' image, so that wouldn't necessarily fall into the old TNN demographic. Then again, I hate NASCAR, so I hope it stays the fuck away from my pro rasslin'. -
They are most definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas for this series now. I watched a re-run of that episode this afternoon... Just awful.

You can put in standby mode by holding down the reset button, but I when I called in about my broken fan they told me never to do that. That's strange, I leave mine in stand-by mode all the time, save for the times when I'm taking the system somewhere else and it is unplugged.

I found it odd that standing a PS2 on its end is supposedly horrible for the system, yet Sony made an accessory for the system that served that exact purpose.

Harrison's Divorce a Done Deal
The Tino Standard replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
I don't think it's the age difference that offends anyone. More likely, it's the fact that Calista Flockhart is practically 2-D she's so thin. -
... because, you know, the demand for the 12 PPVs per year they're running now is so damn high.

Vince kept Coach from talking about the matches
The Tino Standard replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
As long as we were treated to at least one "WHATAMANEUVER!" and a "1...2... He got him! ...... oh wait, no he didn't." per show, it'd be all gravy, playboy. -

It's weird, actually... If you listen to Raw, normally JR has this thing where he'll really call the first match of the night move for move (well, he normally calls about 50 percent of the moves correctly, but that's neither here nor there...). Then, as the night progresses and angles develop, he talks less and less about the action going on in the ring. It's like you can hear his commentating deteriorate within the span of 2 hrs. every week. -

Heenan... Now HE would show those ham-and-eggers how to get it done. -
Do they even care about this show? Hell fucking yes they do. They started hyping this show the day of WrestleMania last year. They've got as much riding on this show as just about any other in history. Everything they've done since WMXIX has basically been the buildup to XX. They NEED this show to succeed.

I was a huge mark for Greatest Heavyweights on the Genesis. Way ahead of its time, especially considering it was a boxing game.
