Thumbs down for JR going with the non-call here. I miss the "For the love God, somebody stop this! Damn it! Damn it!"

Wow, Vince gets the "already in the ring coming out of a commercial entrance." That has to be a first.

Santino's "Ha, try to have babies NOW, Melina!" after she took a shot in the midsection from Maria was classic. What a dick.

WWE General Discussion - February 2008

Why would they use a song called "Snow" for an event that is being held in Orlando and is getting hyped as "the biggest Wrestlemania under the sun"?

Former American Gladiator Host Mike Adamle Joins WWE

Give Adamle a couple shows to familiarize himself with the current roster, and he'll be fine. Probably not the best idea to debut him on major PPV trying to set up storylines that he hasn't even been around for. Even when he made the mistake with Hardy's name, he immediately realized his error and corrected himself. After seeing just about every American Gladiators episode ever, trust me when I tell you Mike Adamle isn't just another clueless microphone stand they've hired to try to get rid of JR.

    The 2008 Royal Rumble Thread

Anybody else notice Cena's left shoulder was red the entire time? Almost like he had still been wearing a sling for his right arm. I can't believe he's 100 percent yet. Any chance they find a way to hotshot the title to Triple H between now and WM? Seems like H-Cena is the money match right now, especially given how much they focused on H when Cena made his entrance and after the match. Triple H had a look on his face like "Who the hell do you think you are to interrupt my coronation?" Absolutely loved how Cena got the ridiculous pop when he came out, and as soon as he did the "You can't see me" motion, it was like the crowd collectively realized "Oh yeah, we hate this guy!" and it was just like he never left. So much for WWE telegraphing every big return from a mile away so they can pop a big TV rating. I haven't ordered a PPV since WM 22, and after ordering this one tonight, I can honestly say I'm glad I did. That closing sequence was phenomenal work.

    WM2000

I seem to remember being able to prevent the slowdown in No Mercy by turning off the background music during matches. The saving glitch was a real bitch, tho.

LOVE Mike Adamle and was pissed when he didn't get the AG hosting gig. I can really see him doing well with this.

WWE General Discussion - January 2008

I read they'll be adding them over the next 18 months. I'm not holding my breath. I was floored that Time Warner was able to get TBS HD in time for the baseball playoffs last fall. Their HD channel lineup is a joke. I've never understood why DirecTV and certain cable companies have no problem working out deals for new channels, but other companies (cough TIME WARNER cough cough) act like they're negotiating the end of a World War.

    American Gladiators

The length of that Eliminator course negates any advantage gained from the head start, especially when you're only getting a half-second for every point you're ahead and you've only had 4 events to build your lead. Even if you suck the entire show, you can still win as long as you can get up the Travelator.

    Raw 1.7.08

Loved the way Triple H won the First Blood match, just pounding the shit out of Regal's face 'til he bled. Anybody know the last time somebody won a FB match without using a foreign object?
  13. The Tino Standard

    American Gladiators

You can definitely see a lot of fingerprints from the British version on this show... - Hit and Run and Earthquake were both events on the British show - Calling the treadmill the 'travelator' and having a balance beam in the Eliminator - Having the ref (by the way, has that guy put on some pounds since he did 'Dodgeball' or what?) count down '3 ... 2... 1" Van Earl Wright (the off-camera announcer) is no Mike Adamle, but it was a lot better than having Hogan do play-by-play, which is what I thought they were going to do. Seems like in all the promotional materials, they've been really pushing the background stories of the contenders and making it more storyline-driven, but between doing all that and having interviews before AND after every event, they're wasting too much time and not getting in enough events. The old show figured out that cramming as many events as possible was the way to go after a couple seasons. Hopefully, it doesn't take this generation that long. The water seemed like a good idea when they were promoting things, but I think it ultimately hinders some events. Hang Tough was ruined by cutting the grid of rings in half (the Gladiators are about 1 ring off the platform and they are already under attack), and the Assault course had to get tricked up to compensate for having the stations so close together. I like the Eliminator, but there were just too many things in too tight of a space. What's the point of running down the balance beam? Why try to hold on to the Ninja Warrior rolling log? Some penalties there would help, especially if you are using Eliminator times for second-round seeding (which it looks like they are doing).

WWE General Discussion - December 2007

Aww how I miss McMahon's pinfall soundbite. 1! 2! Aaaaaaand no. He also used to fake laugh all the time, that was odd. 1! .... 2! ... HE GOT HIM! YES! ........... Oh wait, no he didn't. WHATAMANEUVER! Actually, I'd just settle for him showing up on TV in the three-piece powder blue suit, preferably with the yellow and red WWF crest on his pocket.

    Xbox 360

Can you elaborate on how to do this? Click here and find your router. Then select, from the list of applications, Xbox Live 360. Everything you need to know that I was going to tell you is found here. This will show you how to forward ports 88 and 3074, not to put your system in the DMZ. Let's not try putting your system in the DMZ unless forward those two ports fails. I apologize if you know how to do this and I am insulting your intelligence, but judging that you weren't familiar with the DMZ, I'm guessing you're not. If you've never dealt with forwarding ports before, it can be tricky. The thing is, most routers should work with Xbox Live without needing to forward ports. Even so, give this a try. I'll look at Netgear's support site to help you, too. Edit: Found this: Netgear Support There is a lot of information on this page, that takes subtle shots at Microsoft, and in other places, contradicts what they say. I say go with what Netgear says on this issue, but be warned that Netgear, by and large, does not give a shit (I know this from personal experience trying to get the DS to work). It is precisely this kind of thing that causes me to stay away from Netgear. When it turns into a he-said she-said affair, I'm going to drop the product that costs the least. Xbox $$$ > Netgear $$$. I recommend Linksys. Don't worry if your router is not Xbox Live certified, I believe Microsoft discontinued doing that. Generally, any router can work with Xbox (I know it hurts to read that). However, they discontinued the Xbox Live certification program for routers before the Wireless Adapter came out. Edit: DURRRRRR They didn't discontinue it. Here's the list. Looks like a lot of Netgear's are supported. OK, this is starting to get ridiculous. I followed all the instructions put forth in those links you gave me and I'm in the exact same boat as I was when I started this: IP address failed. Time Warner Cable tech support couldn't help me. XBox tech support couldn't help me. And now, really well-mapped out websites with step-by-step instructions on how to get through these things can't help me. This is fucking ridiculous. No, I'm not the most technically savvy person around (you were correct in guessing that), but I understand the general process and can sure as hell follow a set of directions. And after four nights with this piece of shit wireless system, I still can't get this to work. How the fuck is Joe Average supposed to hook one of these things up? This shit should not be this hard. Thoth, please understand that none of this venting is directed at you. I really appreciate your willingness to help me and the links you gave me. I'm just ready to break something over here. This is taking all the fun out of getting the system in the first place. I'm totally at a loss.

    Xbox 360

The first test is for the network adapter (it recognizes a wireless bridge). The second test is for the wireless network (it says it is connected). Then, it goes the IP address test, and that's where I get hung up. I tried disabling the SPI firewall (no luck). My router (which is a Netgear) is set to channel 11. Can you elaborate on how to do this?

    Xbox 360

Hoping one of you guys can help me get my wireless adapter working. Here are the problems I'm facing... When I first turn the 360 on and go to the System tab, I get a message telling me I might get interference and should switch my network to the A frequency. As far as I can tell, my router runs on G and B. Second issue: When I run 'Test XBox Live connection", I get through the first two tests fine, but it constantly fails the IP address test. Went through all the stuff on the XBox support website, but couldn't get it. Called the 800 number and was told to try putting in the alternate MAC address. Again, no good. Any ideas on what I can try next?

    Madden Online

Figured this was as good a place as any to post this question... I just got a 360 and I'm going to pick up Madden 08. Once I get my Xbox Live subscription working, can you download updated rosters for the game? I ask because at the beginning of the season, the Browns were tied for the worst ranking in the game, and clearly, they're a lot better than that right now. Their offense would actually be pretty fun to use on a game.

    OAO 11/19 Raw Thread

Welcome back, Jericho. First time I've marked out for something on a wrestling show in years. That was fun. About the only complaint I had (and it's a minor one) was JR and the King talking over the crowd reaction for Jericho's entrance, talking about what a historic moment and blah blah blah. Let the moment do the talking for you, idiots. If you have to tell us how great it is, then it probably isn't. The new TitanTron video and pyro, by the way, were awesome. If that's what his entrance is going to be like every week, then giddy up. Go, Jericho, go.

    WWE/USA network update

One of the big things he was known for was his attention to continuity. He was said to have had big storyboards charting all the characters and their interactions with each other. That type of thing should be a no-brainer for ANY writing staff, but you can see the results today of not having him around.

    WWE/USA network update

THANK YOU. We have people bitching in here about Raw being stale and the same old show it has been for 9 or 10 years, and yet the most popular solution is to bring back the old people (Russo and, indirectly, Heyman) who were responsible for creating exactly what's being called "stale" now? Nobody knew who Vince Russo was before 1997. You want a new product? Bring in new writers and give them a chance to run with the ball.
