    This Week in Baseball

Some good games today! ** = My personal GOTD Chicago White Sox vs Florida Marlins -Jon Garland vs A.J. Burnett Texas vs Cincinnati -Kenny Rogers vs Jung Bong Cubs vs Astros -Carlos Zambrano vs Wade Miller **Oakland vs St. Louis** -Barry Zito vs Matt Morris Should be interesting to see how Boston's hitting plays at Coors Field. Likewise for the Rangers hitting in Cincinnati. Brian Powell will make his official debut as a starter for the Phillies when he takes on Detroit at Philly.

    This Week in Baseball

My biggest pet peeve against Williams(esp. when he was the Red Sox manager) was his constant shuffling of the lineup in terms of who plays every day. To me, it seems like there's always somebody new entering the lineup everyday, aside from the usual suspects of Biggio, Bagwell, Berkman and Hidalgo. You notice it a lot at 3B with Vizcaino, Ensberg and Lamb getting into the lineup on a rotation like basis.

    Smartmarks Fake Baseball League

Montreal wins in the bottom of the 9th after a throwing error, intentional BB + stolen 2nd, and another throwing error...that's just fabulous.

    This Week in Baseball

Depends on the arm of the outfielder and his chances at scoring. Personally, I think that the 3B coach should make the decision because no lead is insurmountable and Griffey is a team player so I don't think he'd put himself ahead of the team.

    NES Classic Series?

Screw all of those guys, Pac Man is the one guy who got really shafted. He was the Jumbo Tsuruta, paving the path for all these upstarts like Mario and Donkey Kong to arrive. Furthermore, his own wife, Ms. Pac Man tries to horn in on his legacy and poor Pac Man is relegated to jobber duty in no name indys to make himself some cash and his legacy seemingly ends with Pac Man 3D. What should've been the videogame's brightest star got overshadowed by newer, flashier characters and it's a true shame that nobody remembers his greatness anymore.

ESPN's 25 greatest single season teams...

Think the 1998 Minnesota Vikings make the list? They went 15-1 after all and lost in the NFC Title game IIRC.

ESPN's 25 greatest single season teams...

Oakland A's of the early 2000's might be candidates too. 2003: 96 wins, 2002: 103, 2001: 102, 2000: 91, 1999: 87. Oakland barely edges out Seattle in wins from 99-2003. I think the A's putting up 2 straight 100+ win seasons is better then the one 116 win season by Seattle. From 99-2003: Oakland = 479 wins From 99-2003: Seattle = 472 wins Other Candidates: Damnit...keep screwing me over, lol.

    This Week in Baseball

funny you said that sfa, here's a study done recently from The Hardball Times looking at the number of stolen base attempts, sac. bunts and intentional walks. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/manager-scorecard/ Baltimore, Detroit and Tampa Bay led the AL while Pittsburgh, St. Louis and Montreal led the NL.

    This Week in Baseball

I've always known it's detrimental, I meant it was more amazing considering most coaches tend to employ that tactic more in those situations.

    This Week in Baseball

http://www.tangotiger.net/welist.html neat win expectancy chart done by Tango Tiger. Really amazing how detrimental a bunt is in the bottom of the 9th with 0 outs and a runner on 2nd and down by 1 run vs tied where it improves a bit.
