Not too many great I-AA games this week... Villanova (3-1) @ William & Mary (2-1) Game of the Week: Furman (4-1) @ Elon (4-1) Tennessee State (4-1) @ Tennessee Martin (4-1) Montana (4-0) @ Weber State (3-2) South Carolina State (3-2) @ Florida A&M (3-1) Sacramento State (3-2) @ Northern Arizona (3-1) Liberty (4-0) @ Coastal Carolina (3-2) ~ Curious how Liberty does in this game. Consider this the equivalent of BYU playing a team like Oregon or Nebraska. Prairie View (4-0) @ Grambling State (3-2)

    NFL Week Four

Jason Peters just got injured... I assume that's karma or something in some language.

    NFL Week Four

With the way the Jets D was playing, I would have "run it up" too because they allowed 35 points (almost 42 if not for the last second INT in the end zone with 3 seconds left) alone in the 2nd half.

    NFL Week Four

Boldin had a guy jump onto his back and then got smashed full force with the front of an opposing helmet (think sandwich) to the point where the helmet/helmet shot sent Boldin's head snapping back. Just hope he didn't suffer a major spinal injury...

    The NFL All-Time Draft

Draftbowl I Vitamin X vs. Kahran Ramsus Ooh... really tough. It's all about the trenches and I think Kahran's offensive line has the advantage over Vitamin X's defensive line. I think the game comes down to the overall speed of Vitamin X's offense and the ability for VX to stop the running game. I think Vitamin X takes this game for several reasons. 1: Faulk, Van Buren, Reed, and Clayton are all extremely quick and maybe too quick for the linebackers that Kahran has. Champ and Renfro are great secondary players but Lynch is a bit of a liability (never had more than 3 INT in a season). I don't think Tarkenton would have the accuracy (Best 64.2% at age 35) to consistently beat out Rod Woodson, Sammy Baugh, or Rodney Harrison deep and the linebackers would eventually start teeing off on the short slants and curls. If it became a passing shoot out, I think the edge would go to VX's team. 2: There's no doubt that Kahran could run on this team but remember that Woodson & Harrison are essentially "extra linebackers" but able to play coverage. I could see VX playing 7-8 man fronts and just daring Tarkenton to beat him with his arm, which could lead to a high amount of interceptions or a really strong blitz pass rush (6 blockers vs. 6/7 rushers) and VX has the secondary to play man to man coverage. Kahran's O-Line is great but they are only five men and will often be blocking 4 D-Linemen and maybe 1-2 LB. 3: VX can run the ball too and has an underrated offensive line. I think VX can have success passing the ball just enough to be able to set up draws/counters/traps to get Faulk & Van Buren into space away from the middle of the line (Pat Williams) and to the opposite side of Leslie O'Neal. Final Score: Vitamin X wins 24-16.

Bored's College Football Pick 'Em - Week 5

I'm surprised at how cluttered the standings are with 3-2 or 2-3 teams... and WAC = Sssss.... Eeeee... Ccccc (Three teams at 4-1, Two teams at 3-2, Two teams at 2-3)

Wisconsin TD with 13 seconds left! 2 point try now... good but penalty on Wisconsin! Michigan got lucky as hell. Incomplete! Seriously, has any Top 25 team won yet? Seems like there've been 8-9 ranked teams knocked off today. Somewhat exciting in I-AA land today too, actually. #8 Elon held off Samford 23-17. Jacksonville State beat up #21 Eastern Illinois 23-10. #19 Villanova beat #1 Richmond 26-20. So that's back to back weeks where the I-AA top ranked team lost. My GOTW: #4 Montana barely held off Central Washington 38-35... wow.

    Indy Results Page

Updated several promotions/added several over the past few days (including ROH) and again simplified the front page. Any prominent federations I'm missing at the moment? The ones that I'll be adding shortly off the top of my head - Heartland Wrestling Association (The one time WWE developmental place) - NWA: Wildside if I can find some place with results - UPW in California Gotta admit it's neat coming up with results and seeing cards that feature Cactus Jack in the main event (1995) or a young Steve Corino being a prominent fixture in MEWF from 1996-1997.

    Indy Results Page

Hey, Just started working on a page to try and catalogue results for as many various indy federations as possible. More so trying to get a "one stop" resource and could probably use some help. Here's the page so far: Indy Results Page Currently using Google Groups for the more historical results but again, could appreciate results from any time period for any promotion that can be thought of. Any thoughts/recommendations? I'm kinda trying to keep the results in a simple & quick format for ease of perusal.

Stars from the 90's the faded too soon

1: The Headbangers... came about 2-3 years too late but could've been a great gimmick tag team from 1991-1994 during the height of the grunge era. Instead they were just a decent but late gimmick saddled with two average workers. 2: I'll make the mention of Venom/Joey Abs. By all accounts he was a star in the making from 1996-1998 and then finally got into the WWF where he was promptly saddled with the awful Mean Street Posse gimmick and stuck with two wrestlers who were bland and below average in the ring. I think if Abs had come in with a gimmick more suited to his personality/size (something similar to Bradshaw... i.e. a tough, hard nosed brawler/power wrestler) then he could've done a lot better and eventually gotten to the IC Title level or higher. I really would've liked to see Abs come in with Jeff & Matt Hardy in their feud with Gangrel/Edge/Christian rather than Michael Hayes getting the managerial role.

A paper airplane? A paper airplane... seriously? With a spacey, star background to boot? To get on topic, hurray for bye weeks.
  17. I think 1997 really got hurt when you had teams like Shawn Michaels/Steve Austin and Dude Love/Steve Austin coming together to hold the Tag Team Titles while able teams had to stand around with nothing to do because everything was revolving around the main event scene. In late 1997 they could've had a solid, deep foundation for the tag scene through 1998 but Russo either didn't care to push people (I still think Recon/Sniper could've been cool gimmicks if pushed at all) or just was too focused on the ME scene. 1: Owen Hart/Davey Boy Smith 2: The Headbangers 3: New Age Outlaws 4: Legion of Doom 5: Doug Furnas & Phil LaFon 6: The Godwinns 7: The New Blackjacks (Bradshaw & Windham) 8: Miguel Perez Jr & Jose Estrada Jr 9: Sniper & Recon Talent and overness can be argued but there were at least three teams that could've carried the division (NAO, Headbangers, LOD) along with teams like The New Blackjacks/Sniper & Recon playing the role of enforcers and intimidators sticking their nose in at various points.

    The NFL All-Time Draft

909 - This is... for all intents and purposes, a coin flip pick (not literally though almost). I favored 909 partly because his offensive line (best drafted IMO) along with Joe's nimbleness to avoid the rush for the 2 extra seconds and still throw an accurate pass. Favre's prone to interceptions and 909's group of linebackers aren't slouches at coverage so I think relying on Favre's arm would hurt more than help. Not to mention 909 has underrated help blocking against the blitz with Keith Jackson and Alstott. This was a lot closer than my writeup may have indicated. I'd picture this as a 34-23 game where VX's team looks strong but the 4th quarter is where 909 pulls away. Gert T - I picture this as a 21-17 slugfest but having Mel Gray as a return man and the tandem of Dawson/Rice barely pushed Gert T ahead. I also think people are underrating the threat of O.J. Simpson as a running back (2,000+ yards people!) and Thurman Thomas a battery mate. I like the weapons more on Gert's offense (Witten is becoming Tony Gonzalez part II) and Ellard is the perfect possession guy to compliment Rice's big play ability. I think Gert's offense would keep him in the game and the special teams would just edge Kahran's team. Also Gert's linebacking core is really dangerous and his secondary can hold their own against Kahran's receivers/TE. It comes down to Gert's passing vs. Kahran's run game and I'll take Gert.

James Madison came back and beat App State last week after being down 21-0 so this week is interesting to put it lightly. #1 Richmond (3-1) has a tough first test after getting the top spot as they face #19 Villanova (2-1). #5 Northern Iowa (2-1) has a chance at being upset by #15 Southern Illinois (1-1). One matchup that intrigues me is Central Washington (4-0) @ #4 Montana (3-0). Central Washington is ranked 8th in Division II football and have scored 171 points (42.75) to 86 points allowed (21.5) so far this season including going 3-0 in their Great Northwest conference.

If I've counted correctly, I have at least 11 PF this week. My goal besides going 14-0 or whatever is to lead everyone in PF too.
