    The NFL All-Time Draft.

I was surprised he wasn't drafted higher and was worried that he would get taken a few spots before me.

Crap... forgot the hour change! Sorry guys... RT Forrest Gregg The Glory 9x Pro Bowl 9x All Pro 75th Anniversary Team 1960's All Decade Team He'll protect Young's blindside and you can't ask for much more from one of the best offensive linemen ever in the game, a guy who protected Starr and was coached by Lombardi.

What if QB Arnie Herber (Green Bay Packers 1930-1940, 1944, 1945) didn't miss time for the war? The NFL All-Time Draft.

Offense is the name of the game for the 3rd Pick here... WR Paul Warfield (Cleveland Browns/Miami Dolphins) - The Glory 8 Pro Bowls 4 All Pro 2 SB 1 NFL Championship - The Stats 427 catches 8,565 receiving yards 20.1 YPC 85 TD Led the 1972 Miami Dolphins in catches, receiving yards, and TD Led the NFL in TD in 1968 and 1971 7 straight seasons of 20+ YPC From 1968-1971 he averaged 68.9 receiving yards per game One of the best wide receivers I've ever seen through NFL Films. The guy, for his career, averaged over 20 yards per catch despite having seasons where his long was around 50. A perfect run & shoot receiver (6'0", 188) who is mainly a possession guy but can make the big play on any catch. Reminds me of a more explosive Isaac Bruce in his prime.

I was bored and looking at old players taken in the NFL Draft. Unitas is famous but these all stand out as surprises... Sorted by Year and then Round. WR Tom Fears: 11th Round in 1945 by Los Angeles Rams. QB Norm Van Brockling: 4th Round in 1949 by Los Angeles Rams. QB George Blanda: 12th Round in 1949 by Chicago Bears. WR Raymond Berry: 20th Round in 1954 by Baltimore Colts. QB Bart Starr: 17th Round in 1956 by Green Bay Packers. QB Sonny Jurgensen: 4th Round in 1957 by Philadelphia Eagles. WR Don Maynard: 9th Round in 1957 by New York Giants. QB Fran Tarkenton: 3rd Round in 1961 by Minnesota Vikings. RB Matt Snell: 4th Round in 1964 by New York Giants (1st Round in AFL Draft). QB Roger Staubach: 10th Round in 1964 by Dallas Cowboys.

Having the 17th pick makes the swing really tough. Stuck now trying to decide should I balance with 1 O/1 D pick or go 2 O... coupled with the fact that I can't tell when any player is going to go (I expected Steve Young to go before my 17th pick).

    Gangrel Q&A

I found the fact that he was sent to the farm after wrestling Taka most intriguing simply because BC didn't show. Imagine what could've been if Christopher had showed, maybe no Gangrel/Brood, etc.

I'm trying to decide whether to draft the "best" team or a team that if I were building a squad, these would be the players I'd target. I'll probably lean towards the latter but it should provide entertainment for my next 2 picks.

Somehow still in 4th place despite not meeting the IP requirement last week... wow.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

One of my favorite players of all-time... RCB Deion Sanders The Stats... - Defensive Player of the Year in 1994 - 8 Pro Bowl Selections - 2 Super Bowl Rings - 1990's All Decade Team - 53 INT (9 TD) - Career 25.11 Yard Per INT Return He isn't a tackling machine but that wasn't his forte anyway. He epitomized the term, "Shutdown Corner" and at his height was almost cutting off a whole side of the field while being matched up against the best wide receivers of the era including Jerry Rice.

    NFL Offseason Thread

http://49ers.pressdemocrat.com/default.asp?item=2208940 "Justin Smith saw a lot of action during practice today at right outside linebacker with the No. 1 defense. Nolan reiterated that Smith would be moved around quite a bit in the 49ers defense. This is how the No. 1 unit lined up today." ~ I like this idea, honestly and think more coaches would benefit from taking speedy edge rushers and molding them into similar roles such as Vrabel and DeMarcus Ware. This will only help the 49ers defense and allow them flexibility in switching from a probable 4-3 to a 3-4 if they desire. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3423049 "Same thing I said back at the end of the season: Matt's our starter," Whisenhunt said after Monday's practice. "Kurt's going to be there pushing him." ~ At this point, I'd be hard pressed to start Leinart over Warner but at the same time Leinart is younger and obviously has improved despite the injuries he's suffered through. What worries me about Leinart are: Hollywood lifestyle and that he's had injuries that have sidelined him for 2 straight seasons. If you take out the three games that he struggled in against GB, Oakland, and Baltimore last year, he's been very solid. 13 Games: 238/402 (59.2%) for 2,781 yards and 12 TD vs. 13 INT. Leinart went 7-8 in those 13 games. The thing with Kurt Warner is that he is experienced but will be 37 this season. Last 2 seasons he's gone 9-10. 19 Games: 388/618 (62.8%) for 4,765 yards and 33 TD vs. 22 INT. Question is: Can Leinart stay healthy? If so, I could see the Cardinals finishing at 7-9 or 8-8. Roughly the same record that Warner would bring them as a full time starter IMO.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

With the 17th pick in the 1st round, the newly named Gotham Harlequins select... QB Steve Young 7 Pro Bowls 3 All-Pro Selections 2 SB Rings 1 SB MVP (in which he threw 6 TD) - Career 64.3% Completion Rate - Ran for 4,239 yards - Had a 5.90 YPC and 43 TD - Had a 2.17 TD:INT Ratio (232-107) Not only could he scramble but he was deadly accurate and was the #2 QB on my board behind Joe Montana. Not only did he start in the USFL but sat behind Joe Montana for years and had his career shut short due to concussions (this the year after arguably his best year statistically). His numbers could be even gaudier if he had stayed healthy and played through the '99 and even 2000 seasons. He'd be a perfect fit for my "ideal" Run & Shoot offense. Cerebral, can scramble, and accurate.

Well, I have a few players in mind but still struggling with whether to go offense or defense. A little surprised Joe dropped (and Warren went so high) but that's just me.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

    Can you update the first post with what our final roster should look like? Given 30 rounds I'd assume... - 2 QB - 2 RB - 3 WR - 1 TE - 5 OL - 3/4 DL - 4/3 LB - 2 CB - 2 S - 1 K - 1 P - KR/PR Well, that's only 27.

The Music draft was started in February and is still going into June... so I second Tzar's idea of booting somebody if they miss 3 picks.

Tampa Bay waived QB Bruce Gradkowski. Their QB Roster is now: Jeff Garcia, Brian Griese, Luke McCown, Josh Johnson, Chris Simms, and Jake Plummer*. - From: http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patr...ent_type_1.html One change in the NFL this year that will impact the way some clubs approach their preparations for the season is the 80-man roster limit. In past years, teams had the use of up to six additional players through NFL Europa roster exemptions. But NFL Europa has folded and owners seemingly have not made it a priority to increase the roster limit.

I think we can handle 20 people so long as people are smart about PMing others with their picks if they can't make it. Also CC... stuff like this NEVER is just 12 I'm just amazed it wasn't 30.

Wow... my 3 SP and a cloud of dust tactic has been really strong throughout the year (thanks in part to healthy, strong starters). Currently down 6-5 but I'll take that over 7-3, etc. type losses. Also sitting high in the standings thanks to my offense. Whoo!

Not to mention there's over 87 years of history... Here's a question. How are "leagues" like the AFL and AAFC gonna be counted? The NFL absorbed those teams but players like Len Dawson, Joe Namath, etc. had solid years (Otto Graham in the AAFC) in those leagues too while productive players in those leagues may not have done as well in the NFL.
