Here's a list of Great Blue North's Top 100 Undrafted Free Agents from the Rookie Draft: http://www.gbnreport.com/updatedtop100.html Some interesting names... WR DJ Hall LB Erin Henderson LB Ezra Butler WR Dorien Bryant WR Adarius Bowman QB Kyle Wright QB Sam Kellar DE Johnny Dingle LB Ben Moffitt The Hawaii Trio: WR Davone Bess/WR Jason Rivers/WR Ryan Grice-Mullen. Wonder if any of them head to Washington to re-team with Colt? QB Anthony Morelli

I liked seeing Washington snag Brennan. He'll be a good fit in a West Coast style offense as he's at his best throwing to certain areas and throwing 10-30 yard routes. He could turn out to be a decent to solid backup to Campbell for future seasons and it only cost the Redskins a 6th round pick.
-
Two of the mentioned wide receivers went... William Franklin - Missouri - Drafted by Kansas City Chiefs at 4.06 Keenan Burton - Kentucky - Drafted by St. Louis Rams at 4.30 I also love seeing all of the small school I-AA/FCS guys being picked

I don't know honestly if many of the WRs taken would fit in the Mike Martz system all that well. Donnie Avery was taken high but could've been a good fit along with players like Harry Douglas and Dexter Jackson in the Az-Hakim role. Guys to watch for Agent... I think the following could fit well but may not be solid #1s. All of these guys should be 4th to 7th round picks. Keenan Burton - Kentucky D.J. Hall - Alabama William Franklin - Missouri Ryan Grice-Mullen - Hawaii

Here are the profiles on Mayo and Wheatley from NFL Draft Countdown... both sound like prototypical Pats picks although I'll admit to being surprised at Wheatley (thought he could be had in the 3rd or even the 4th). Jerod Mayo Height: 6-11/4 | Weight: 242 | 40-Time: 4.54 Strengths: Very athletic...Has excellent timed speed and quickness..Physical and plays bigger than he is...Has terrific range and does a great job in pursuit...Reliable tackler and will deliver the big hit...Smart with good awareness and instincts...Has a non-stop motor...Fluid & smooth in coverage...Versatile...Productive..Nice program pedigree. Weaknesses: Undersized and doesn't have either the ideal height or bulk that you look for..Has trouble taking on and shedding blockers...Needs to be protected up front...Just a marginal blitzer...Durability may be an issue...Probably not a good fit for everyone. Notes: The next in a long line of top Volunteer linebackers...Can project inside or outside depending on the defensive scheme and has experience at both...Best fit may be as a middle 'backer in a Cover 2 or on the weakside..Not a traditional thumper but he will prove awfully attractive to teams that are willing to sacrifice some size for speed...He will draw comparisons to Al Wilson and those are reasonably accurate. Terrence Wheatley Height: 5-95/8 | Weight: 187 | 40-Time: 4.37 Strengths: Very fast with good quickness and a burst to close...A fantastic athlete with great agility...Smooth with fluid hips...Playmaker with good hands and ball skills...Smart with good instincts...Physical and always plays hard...Has special teams potential. Weaknesses: Does not have the ideal size or bulk that you'd prefer...Needs to get stronger...A marginal tackler...He'll struggle when matched up against big pro wideouts...Has some pretty serious durability and health concerns...May not have a lot of upside. Notes: His father, Randolph, ran track at Arizona State...He was plagued by a wrist injury that required multiple surgeries early in his career...Probably profiles as more of a nickel or dime guy at the pro level...Good cover guy with solid intangibles who will be held back by his size...Will enjoy a nice career as a backup and special teamer.

Top 50 Stars of the Last 50 Years
HarleyQuinn replied to EVIL~! alkeiper's topic in General Wrestling
To add on to what Luke-O's saying... Raven was one of the head figures in terms of popularity for ECW from roughly 1995-1997 being the ECW Champion and his feud with Tommy Dreamer is possibly the top feud ECW ever had. He's had memorable feuds/matches with DDP and Chris Benoit in WCW as well as holding the WCW US Title briefly along with the WCW Tag Team Titles. His Flock was one of the more memorable aspects that helped WCW rise in 1997/1998. He's also held the TNA World Title and was again, a key to the early importance that TNA built thanks to his feud with Jeff Jarrett. Granted he didn't do much in the WWE (which is really, really a disappointment) but he still was a key figure in the Hardcore Title scene and had (for the fans that watched) a fun feud with D-Lo Brown on Heat. -
I believe the time limits for the rounds are as follows... 1st Round: 10 Minutes 2nd Round: 7 Minutes 3rd - 7th Round: 5 Minutes Anyone confirm this?

Since the changes on 4/22... 8-4 with 64 RS vs. 65 RA.

A discussion about the inflated audience during the Monday Night Wars
HarleyQuinn replied to Boxer's topic in General Wrestling
They actually had other options that ironically were kind of being developed by the top players: Owen Hart, Ahmed Johnson before injury issues, Ken Shamrock actually had a WWF Title match with Michaels, and the arrival of Kane. Mankind could've continued his feud with Triple H and we saw his main event capability with matches vs. Michaels on Raw and later with Austin at Over the Edge while aligning with McMahon. It would've been interesting to see him getting time in the IC Title picture feuding with Rock and Austin. They also had Goldust who was starting to lose his heat but also was stuck going through that weird phase where he was coming out in different costumes every night. He easily could've gotten into the Euro Title feud with HHH and Owen earlier. As for tag teams, there was the early hinting of the New Age Outlaws teaming up with the HBK/HHH/Chyna DX (see where they all ambushed the Legion of Doom) and that could've added the LOD into the main event scene for a while too. Granted most of those guys couldn't have done it themselves but coupled with the players at the top and there could easily have been weeks where a match like Owen Hart vs. Goldust for the #1 Contendor to the European Title could've served as a main event with DX doing commentary and the Hart Foundation coming out to watch. Matches like Hawk vs. Billy Gunn with the drama going around also could've been a viable Raw main event. Considering how red hot things were getting, people like Goldust & Shamrock & Mankind would've gotten major boosts just by being inserted not to mention the Outlaws and LOD going at it over the Tag Titles just after Owen/Bulldog were champions. -
A discussion about the inflated audience during the Monday Night Wars
HarleyQuinn replied to Boxer's topic in General Wrestling
As a wrestling fan since 1991 and a longtime WWF fan (never cared as much for WCW but watched it anyway...) Here are the reasons why I got more into that time period... (friends and classmates often cited DX and Austin/Rock as reasons in 98/99). 1: For WCW it was the growth of the mid-card and the cruiserweight division. From 1997 to 1999 you had the following happening: Eddie Guerrero's heel run & feud with Rey Mysterio Jr., Chris Jericho/Dean Malenko feud, the mini Jericho/Juventud feud, Raven's arrival and Flock angle, the 3 way feud between Benoit/Raven/DDP, the gradual rise of Goldberg, and the Tag Title 3 way feud between Raven/Saturn & Benoit/Malenko & Kidman/Rey Mysterio Jr. 2: For the WWF it was in part the Russo TV for me. If you re-watch stuff like the brawls it really is... electric in that it was involving three stables (NOD, Hart Foundation, and DX) all wrapped inside hot feuds like HBK/Undertaker/Bret, Austin/Rock/Bret, and HHH/Owen. I mean if you look at it, it really is genius the way the feuds were being set up in this vacuum. - HBK/Undertaker thanks to Ground Zero and Badd Blood and back into the Royal Rumble. - Austin/Bret thanks to WM13 - Triple H/Sgt. Slaughter thanks to HHH's part in DX - Then you get HBK/Bret building up to Survivor Series - You get Austin/Owen at Summerslam and Survivor Series. - After Survivor Series you suddenly get Triple H/Owen for the European Title branching off what happened at Survivor Series. - You get the Austin/Rock angles over the IC Title. - You start getting the build up to HBK/Austin for WrestleMania. - There's also the buildup to WM for Undertaker/Kane that started prior to Badd Blood. 3: Generation Y grew up with the following wrestlers all developing as "stars" from 1996-2000 with some obviously more so: Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, The Rock, and Undertaker. Mankind was also on the cusp of stardom (1999/2000) making it 7 guys who any non smart fan could look at and legit believe they could be the WWF Champion. It's really hard to catch lightning in a bottle like that in terms of being able to develop that many wrestlers. Right now off the top of my head the WWE's developed Edge, Randy Orton, John Cena, and Batista as similar stars but the mid-card just isn't as much the focal point as it was during the early Russo Years of 1997 and 1998. If you go back and watch from July on in 1997, you'll see DX/Hart Foundation/Undertaker/Austin/NOD dominating most of the airtime. If that happened today, we'd all be complaining that Cena/Edge/HBK/Orton/Batista, etc. dominate the airtime and guys like CM Punk, etc. will never get a chance to show who they are. In 1998 that continued spinning off of 1997 and later focusing on Austin/Vince/DX/NOD/Mankind/Undertaker with midcard acts like Val Venis and Ken Shamrock also getting serious face time. If anything, I'd argue that the Brand Split has made that type of TV impossible and unfortunately, things that are hot deserve to have the focus on them at all times because what's hot is what will draw the fans in. -

I'm finally, slowly, coming around as I've won 5 of my last 8 and actually took 2 games from the Ice Hoes...

Just curious but... why would it matter what other teams think? I mean, I can understand if it's a "tanking" kinda deal at the end of the year but considering this is a Keeper league, I doubt that people are going to be trading guys willy nilly for no value and bolting the next season. Besides, other teams aren't in the "deal" and it's not like Bud Selig asks the Texas Rangers if a trade between Washington and Cincinnati should be looked at. Of course I side with the whole: only trades that should be vetoed or denied are those of collusion.
-
Another trade just made that should hopefully be pushed through... The Layden Express send OF Jacoby Ellsbury Gotham Harlequins send SP C.C. Sabathia I get a strong OF option who can also give my team some speed and rid myself of a SP who is looking more and more like he wouldn't crack my rotation with the recent pick up of SP Scott Olsen. Oh yeah and to Marvin... Skip: 2-5 with 0 R, 0 HR, 0 RBI My Boy: 1-3 with 2 R, 1 RBI, and 3 BB

They do have Chris Britton who had a 3.55 ERA in 12.2 IP last year (126 ERA+). Granted it's a small sample but he also fashioned a 3.35 ERA (136 ERA+) for Baltimore in 2006 at age 23 in 53.2 IP. He had a 2.52 ERA at AAA last year and in 8.1 IP has 9 K vs. 2 BB right now.
-
Maybe so but it's a similar case to Load and Re-Load then. Either way, both were released as completely separate records with Waka/Jawaka coming out on July 5th, 1972 and The Grand Wazoo in May 1973. Even if they were 'companion' pieces... that's a difference of 11 months. Not sure where the "semantics" would be?

Looks like I'll easily hit 28 IP again so kudos to Carlos Silva who has been money for me. Also made a couple moves to gear up for next week... mainly getting a little better ERA/WHIP out of the reliever spots to help insure the addition of Street and nabbed a guy I was surprised to see, Ryan Ludwick to give me an upgrade out of the UTIL spot. Brian Bruney and Joe Smith have combined for 18 IP with an ERA of 1.46 and 17 K. Depending on what they give me for a week, that could be a line that would rival a strong start from a SP #4 on my opponent's team. It's not that far-fetched so long as you get at least 6 innings out of both. That'd leave you 4.1 IP between Bell/Shields/Nathan. It's unlikely you'd get it but not out of the realm of impossibility. You could also have an outside shot at taking Saves too. Then again, my 4 relievers have thrown 6 IP over 4 days so...
