    Teenage girl is beaten

One friend called her mother, who arrived in time to pull one of the girls away from Bethany and drive the injured girl to Bradford Royal Infirmary. She was leaving with friends (plural) so... where the hell were the friends to help?!?

Here are some of the bigger in-conference games of the FCS Weekend (outside of the above "national interest" ones). D2 teams have been having success. I could see Grand Valley State matching up well with some of the Top 15-25 FCS teams (similar to Top 1-10 in FCS matching up well with FBS teams at times). It's hard to tell how they'd fare against Top 5 or even Top 10 teams as I'm sure there would be some "surprise" victories ala App. State vs. Michigan but overall, I think Grand Valley State would lose most of the games against that level of competition. They're currently riding a 31 game undefeated streak and while their offense and defense are very good, they've been susceptible to allowing opponents some big games at the same time and they've also had a lot more close, defensive battles than they have offensive shootouts. I think if challenged by a good, defensive FCS team that they'd struggle more offensively than if they went against a slightly weaker defensive FCS team where they could score 17-20 and let their defense win the game. I think most of the top FCS teams could hold Grand Valley to 10-14 points and score 24-30 pretty easily depending on the school.

Central Oklahoma came oh so close but missed by a smidge It'd help if they weren't D2 and were at least ranked in the Top 10 there too.

Someone explain to me why Brian Brohm and Colt Brennan are seen as possible Heisman candidates but Graham Harrell and Curtis Painter aren't at this stage of the season? Opponents played in bracket. While I understand the "system" argument... as Colt has said before on ESPN, isn't the goal as a QB to master the system you're put in? My issue of contention mainly is that Brennan is considered a Heisman hopeful despite playing what would've been 2 FCS teams in his first 4 games (I love the FCS but...) while Harrell is the only QB of the foursome to have not played an FCS opponent yet. Brian Brohm (Murray State, Middle Tennessee, Kentucky, Syracuse): 114/168, 1697 yards, 15 TD vs. 3 INT, Sacked 4 times, 13 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD Colt Brennan (Northern Colorado, Louisiana Tech, UNLV): 103/133, 1262 yards, 12 TD vs. 1 INT, Sacked 5 times, 34 yards rushing, 4 rushing TDs Graham Harrell (SMU, UTEP, Rice, Oklahoma State): 166/227, 1963 yards, 19 TD vs. 2 INT, Sacked 3 times, -22 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD Curtis Painter (Toledo, Eastern Illinois, Central Michigan, Minnesota): 114/166, 1290 yards, 16 TD vs. 1 INT, Sacked 2 times, 7 yards rushing

A few half time scores... San Diego State is beating Jerry Glanville's Portland State 35-14. Grambling State is also beating up #23 Alabama A&M 17-6. #19 Western Illinois is tied with Stephen F. Austin 13-13. The stars of North Dakota State offensively were QB Steven Walker: 25/30 for 261 yards and 1 TD and RB Tyler Roehl: 30 carries for 143 yards and 3 TD (5, 33, and 4. All came in the 2nd half). The defense had 2 interceptions off Dan LeFevour.

#5 North Dakota State has a chance to move up to as high as #3 thanks to the 44-14 thrashing of Central Michigan. There's game number 7 (with apologies to Western Kentucky fans for my early screwup).

RB Tyrell Hayden was the big factor for Western Kentucky (along with the defense). 23 carries for 144 yards and 1 TD (9 yards). That's #7 and I seriously can't remember this many wins by FCS teams over FBS teams, at least this quickly into the season.
