I'd start Leinart. If Baltimore's D goes off, that means Palmer may have a poor day and his stats/contribution could get minimized.

Denver saved my hide this week... thanks Elam.

I likely won the TSM matchup unless Clayton and Chad Johnson go off against me. I may have to squeak the win out vs. Serenity in my league if Gore/McGahee/Wilson all have strong games. I do have Ray Lewis going so here's hoping he has a huge game.

I need Arizona to win after splitting the first 2 matchup picks (damn Falcons)...

The FCS wins over FBS competition continues. #8 Northern Iowa beat Iowa State 24-13 behind QB Eric Sanders (23/29 for 180 yards and 2 TD) and RB Corey Lewis (130 yards rushing, 44 receiving, and 0 TD).

#10 James Madison beat up on #5 New Hampshire 41-20. Ricky Santos threw for 353 yards with 2 TD and 2 INT. Rodney Landers ran for 128 yards and 2 TD for James Madison. Western Kentucky beat up West Virginia Tech 87-0... thrashing indeed. 16,165 attended too!

I'll bite. While I may not "become a fan" of a team because I have a player on their squad, I do generally pay more attention to that team during the season and maybe the off-season as well. I do find myself more aware of team situations, etc. than I ever would've been otherwise. Examples such as watching pre-season games for certain players (knowing that such a guy is on a team I never watch), how a coach may/may not impact the team (e.g. reading training camp reports of Kiffin in Oakland), and being aware of injuries to other teams. Also choosing a Cardinals player to be cheered by a Cubs fan is like asking a Patriots fan to cheer on Peyton Manning and expecting them to suddenly be a fan of the Colts The one thing that fantasy football has done, irregardless of "fan" association, has been to broaden my knowledge of the teams and the NFL in general. Prior to fantasy football, I wouldn't have been able to tell you who the kicker for San Francisco was or even what kind of defensive formation a team like the Detroit Lions ran. I couldn't have been able to tell you the backup QB for the Jacksonville Jaguars or where head coach Sean Payton had come from before landing in New Orleans. After playing fantasy football (and more IDP), it's helped me gain a greater appreciation for the little things with every team. I still cheer for backups like a Kellen Clemens to usurp Chad Pennington or hope that the 4th round rookie RB can get that #3 spot on Indianapolis. I probably don't even have that player on my team, but the fact that I know of that situation allows for me to get into caring about what happens. If I were just a New England Patriots fan, yeah, it'd be great. I could tell you everything about the Pats. Now, I can tell you everything about the Pats, but I can also tell you a lot about the other teams in the NFL as well.

I like Denver over the Buffalo Bills myself.

My spotlight FCS games... #12 Eastern Illinois @ Purdue #5 New Hampshire @ #10 James Madison #8 Northern Iowa @ Iowa State #11 Southern Illinois @ Northern Illinois Ricky Santos has a tough task ahead of him in JMU. The other games all feature highly ranked FCS teams taking on FBS teams. I don't expect any upsets but the chances are there in the above 3 games (except maybe the Purdue game).

I'm not that high on my defense and I'm unsure if my RBBC or QB situation (Eli was grabbed mainly for the TDs) will pan out. Oy...

I'll be curious to get your reactions to how the game goes next week in person. They played 2 QBs (Did they sit the first guy for White in the 2nd half or vice versa?) and they went a combined 23/42 for 276 yards. If Mouse is teaching them the legit Run and Shoot, it'll be a tough learn, esp. for a first game. In essence, the QB/WRs make their own read of the defense and change based on what the defense does. I'd honestly expect the offense to really start gelling by game 3 (vs. Sacramento State) or else they're in for a tough year as their schedule isn't very easy.

Colt Brennan in the 1st quarter with 4:24 left... 14/17 for 209 yards and 4 TD.

I lost this week Although maybe I can salvage some pride if Mexico can win over UTEP.
-
Texas State defeated #15 Cal Poly 38-35 tonight. A couple other teams ranked in the 20's also lost... so the reshuffling of the rankings in I-AA should prove somewhat interesting too.

Brett Hodges comes in and has brought Wake Forest back to within 7. Must be nice for WF fans to know that they have a backup who can come in and engineer some drives if Riley Skinner gets hurt again. Matt Ryan just threw his 2nd INT on an overthrow.
-
That and Avanti had an INT and a fumble in the 2nd half. Going for the FG (24 yard attempt) was a gimme over a possible turnover ala INT or fumble.
-
That game was insane. App. State managed to go up 31-20, let Michigan back in to a 32-31 lead, and then blocks a FG to end the game with 6 seconds left. Not only one of the biggest upsets in college football history but one of the more insane games ever too.
-
Appalachian State won 34-32.

App. State drive to the 5, 24 yard FG GOOD!!!! 34-32 APP STATE LEADS! 15 seconds left. Manningham catch at the 20 with 6 seconds left! *dies* 37 yard FG BLOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
