I'd say fair if it's out of conference scheduling but foul if it's in conference scheduling because teams can't help it if they play in a poor conference and still do extremely well.

So, David Beckham in Los Angeles..

I am watching the A Villa vs. Liverpool game from the English Premiere League and have noticed/observed a few things. 1: It seems like players "set up" too much during the game, rather than passing to an open fielder and just attacking towards the net. It seems almost like the game is more... tactical rather than instinctual if that makes any sense? 2: The play stops periodically to set up free kicks, etc. with no explanation unless the commentator chimes in to explain what happened. Granted, I don't follow soccer much but the constant stopping slows the pace of the game dramatically and not knowing why is annoying (along with the lack of a clear notification unless you see the ref holding up that yellow flag). 3: The players themselves don't seem to "help" each other out much. On throw ins (one in particular) guys stand around rather than moving and trying to create space. Same with positioning where I'll see 4-5 guys all bunched around an area on defense when they get the ball rather than 1-2 sprinting upfield as a means of possibly attacking the net. I loved watching the Argentina/Brazil games during the World Cup because they constantly tried to attack the net when possible, when then waiting for an opportunity to open itself up.

One of the things that turned me off of soccer even more were the blatant dives during the World Cup. I don't mind watching a game here and there but knowing that players were diving over the barest of hits irked me.

I don't think there's an official league site setup yet for the 08/27 draft one but ask Pinjockey.

Maybe I misintended things but I wasn't comparing DL scoring to DB but rather the internal positions in each to the overall (DE/DT vs. LB in DL and CB vs. S in DB). I guess, I'm more trying to "balance" the DE/DT with the LB and the CB/NB with the S in terms of value within their respective categories. As for the INT outscoring the TD... you're right and an INT has been changed to 5 points, the same value as a sack. Also, the draft time has been changed to 6 PM ET on 8/18 to accomodate OOG.

This has to be a mistake. Nope. Granted, it will likely (most probably...) result in "fluke"ish weeks but I was sick of DL like Freeney, Kampman, etc. being looked over for LBs who shouldn't have been taken ahead of them. Same with Safeties being taken over CBs who didn't rack up tackles. Sean Taylor with his 89 tackles, 0 sacks, and 1 INT would be taken over a Chris McAlister with 6 INT just b/c McAlister "only had" 43 tackles, which seems wrong. Even in my scoring setup last year only Aaron Kampman and Jason Taylor ranked in the Top 10 in FPPG. The others with high sacks were DE/LB hybrids who all had at least 60+ tackles (Merriman would've topped 60 tackles if he had played a full 16 game season). LB Antonio Pierce still ranked 17th despite having just 1 sack and 1 INT, in large part b/c of his 109 tackles. In the Top 30, 12 topped 6 sacks all year (7 topped 10). In regards to DB, in the Top 30 only 8 DB topped 6 INT. Why should a DE who has 3 tackles with 2 sacks (Traditional = 7 FP vs. Mine = 13 FP) be penalized vs. a LB with 9 tackles (9 FP in both setups) simply b/c the LB's D couldn't get off the field? Same with a CB with 4 tackles and 1 INT (Traditional = 7 FP vs. Mine = 12 FP) vs. a Safety with 10 tackles (10 FP in both setups)? This allows players who are primarily sack artists/ballhawks to get some reward for their big play. Guys like London Fletcher, Zach Thomas, and DeMeco Ryans still rank high largely due to their tackles. Same goes for Adrian Wilson, Chris Hope, and Kerry Rhodes. Hopefully this also allows for more strategy in the Draft. Do you take a guy with 8 sack potential over the LB who could rack up 90 tackles but little else? Do you take that safety who gives you 80+ tackles a year or the CB who's had 5 INT each of the past 3 seasons? As far as any luck concerning a player having a "fluke" huge week, it happens. Why penalize a DB for having a great week with 2 INT when he could go the next 7-8 weeks with 0 INT? As for the draft, how many teams can make it Saturday night?

The league's IDP (Independent Defensive Players) thus there are no team defenses. Just a reminder that the draft is this Saturday at 7 PM ET. We currently have 11 spots filled with 3 spots remaining. ID: 274037 PW: DawnBTVS Go here if you want to sign up but don't know how. Just click join custom league and input the above.

Lost any credibility by listing WR Calvin Johnson at #40 and RB Adrian Peterson at #50. Also including guys like Reggie Bush (#34) and Vince Young (#39) is unbelievably laughable. Not shocked to see Randy Moss (#32) and TO (#36) low despite deserving to be placed much higher. As for Wehrli, he had 40 INT for St. Louis from 1969-1982 along with 2 TD. http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/stats.nsf = a fabulous site to look up stats on older players. I'm still disheartened that the war took Cecil Isbell He was just entering a prime in which he'd have been the one of the great QBs alongside Sammy Baugh and Sid Luckman IMO. He topped 2,000 yards in 1942 and had 24 TD. Baugh didn't top 2,000 yards until 1947 and Luckman the year after Isbell.

    What If...?

I was looking at past seasons by QB in terms of FPPG and didn't realize just how good Jeff Blake was (#5 in 1994, #5 in 1995, and #5 in 1996). I liken him to an Aaron Brooks (Vick like comp. rate of 55-57% season to season). He had YPC's of 5.83, 4.40, 5.20, and 5.27 as a Bengal. I found it interesting that he hits New Orleans and throws for a 60.9% rate along with 13 TD vs. 9 INT in only 11 games. He also added a 4.26 YPC on 53 carries before getting pushed out by Aaron Brooks in late 2000 and 2001. What if the Saints had not gotten Aaron Brooks and instead stuck with Jeff Blake? Would Blake have become a "name" in New Orleans like Brooks or would he have melted down anyway and declined from his successful first year rather than possibly improving on it? Would the Saints have fared any better or would they still have become mediocre/underachievers?

It'd still be 6 QBs early vs. 10 QBs late, not an overwhelming majority. Also, just because the starting QB gets injured shouldn't preclude a rookie from not being considered a true starting QB as a rookie. Teams that have to depend on a rookie QB from the get go (ala Harrington or Carr) are a rarity as is, so of course the QBs sitting or starting later in the season would be a norm. None of the QBs drafted in the past 3 years were asked to come in and turn around the franchise immediately like a Peyton Manning, Joey Harrington, or David Carr. So to discount any rookies starting due to injury basically says, any QB drafted will be looked at to sit unless the team explicitly states on draft day or during training camp that he's gonna be starting from Day 1. I'd be curious to see what constitutes your definition of a true rookie QB and who comprises it. Does JaMarcus Russell count even though Andrew Walter and Josh McCown could start over him? Brady Quinn with Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson ahead of him? The only guys I could feasibly come off the top of my head with in regards to your criteria within the past 6 years (excluding 2007) are Joey Harrington, David Carr, and Kyle Boller. That's 3 QBs out of 72 total QBs drafted and they were from 2002/2003.
