Since Yahoo has opened football registrations, are the two leagues continuing? I know I was in APO's League 2.

Taylor Pyatt signed a 2 year, $3 Million contract http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=209822&hubname=nhl He was solid last year despite his inconsistency. If he can be more consistent, it could be a good deal for the Canucks.

And Vinny's FG set the stage for Overtime... it's not like the Tuck Rule resulted in the final FG! The Raiders could have stopped the Pats in OT but failed.

Moved up to 18th but in the process somehow got Bergmann sent to the DL making him my 4th victim

Slooooowly bouncing back. Got a fabulous start out of Bergmann and hope to start having better weeks from here on out. The only good news about my team is that I have a chance to leapfrog up to around 16-18 depending on how my team performs this week.

The Quest with JCVD... I'm a total sucker and about to watch it on Encore Action.

One word describes my squad... oof! From injuries to the fact that I'm going with 4 MR this week makes me hope I can meet the minimum IP requirement. Just when my offense has become semi-decent, my strong pitching has now imploded... When's next year's keeper draft?

New London = Around $3.04. Sudbury = $2.94 - $2.97

Citizen Kane... I loved the cinematography but story wise... I was almost falling asleep at parts. Cast Away... Seriously, how did this get so hyped up? Long, boring, and it's just Tom Hanks on an island outside of the start and end (and the ending was draggy too).

With the college football season winding down, pretty soon we'll be hearing which juniors are/aren't coming out for the NFL Draft and with the bowl games upcoming, I thought it'd be nice to maybe start a list of possible sleepers to keep an eye on aside from the obvious studs. WR Sidney Rice, a Soph, but eligible for the draft said he would be returning to school next year. Smart decision IMO with the talent in the WR class this year, esp. if juniors like Ted Ginn announce they're jumping. Here are my sleepers (some deeper than others) to watch during the bowl game season (all players are Seniors). QBs East Carolina: James Pinkney. Good size at 6'3" and 220 lbs. Isn't a scrambler but can make plays with his feet when needed (2.4 YPC). Solidly accurate (61.3%) and has only 8 INT in 326 attempts. Good goalline threat as he has 4 rushing TDs on the season. RB Brigham Young: Curtis Brown. 6'0" and 205 lbs. but plays in a slightly weaker conference. Has only a 4.5 YPC but has caught 43 passes, showing he's reliable with his hands. Nevada: Robert Hubbard. 5'11" and 195 lbs. but plays in the soft WAC, which may hurt his stock some. Like Snelling in that he may lack breakaway speed as he only has a long of 28 yards but he's averaged 86 yards a game, showing he's consistently getting tough yards. Not much of a receiving threat, only 14 catches, but if he bulks up, he could make for a good depth RB in the NFL. WR Oklahoma State: D'Juan Woods. Good size for a WR at 6'1" and 210 lbs. A consistent threat on the field with an 18.7 YPC on 24 catches this year including a long of 72. Proven he can be a go to guy with 56 catches last season while still having a 15.7 YPC. Minnesota: Logan Payne. Another player with great size at 6'2" and 205 lbs. Has really blossomed this season with 47 catches and has been consistent the past two seasons with a 14.3 and 14.7 YPC thus far this year. Capable of making the home run with his long being 67 yards this year and is consistent, having five straight games with 6 catches. Kent State: WR Najah Pruden. 6'3" and 185 lbs. but has a crazy 21.4 YPC with 33 catches this season. Also had a 20.8 YPC on 33 catches last season, proving it may not be a fluke. Has had longs of 49, 55, 55, and 64 yards this year with longs of 84 and 97 yards in the past. If he can put on some weight and do well leading up to the draft, I could see him slipping into the 4th/5th round as a steal. Concerns that he also be a deep threat only WR in the NFL (similar to Ashley Lelie) but could help a team in need of one too. Hawaii: WR Ross Dickerson. 5'10" and 185 lbs. but could make a solid West Coast receiver in the NFL. Can catch as he had a four game run with 5, 7, 10, and 6 catches. Not a huge home run threat with longs of 35, 36, and 50 yards this season but has shown in the past he can break a big one (87 yards in 2005). Consistent in YPC with 14.2 and 13.3 YPC and could make an ideal #4/#5 WR in the NFL if drafted. Central Michigan: WR Damien Linson. 5'11" and 188 lbs. and has been a consistent WR for this year and the past 2 years before. Proven he can be a go to guy with 56 catches last year and had a 15.5 YPC (37 catches) and 14.9 YPC in 2004 and 2005. While his YPC has dropped this season to 12.8, he still has proven to be a home run threat. He's had longs of 53 and 61 yards this year as well as 65 and 74 yards in the past. Could be a similar kind of player to Ross Dickerson and make a solid #4/#5 WR. Players who likely won't get bowl games but you should have an eye on Tulane: QB Lester Ricard. Great size at 6'4"/6'5" and 225 lbs according to ESPN. A pocket QB who may not have great accuracy (57.1% thus far this season) however he's smart with the ball (8 INT in 336 attempts). Kansas: RB Jon Cornish. Solid size at 6'0" and 205 lbs. Has averaged a 5.4 YPC and 113 YPG in the Big XII, which still has several tough defenses in the division. Illinois: RB Pierre Thomas Jr. Good size at 5'11" and 215 lbs. and is doing well in a tough defensive conference in the Big 10. Has a 5.8 YPC but isn't reliable in the receiving game as he has only a 7.2 YPC and 12 catches. Iowa State: RB Stevie Hicks. Great size at 6'1" and 212 lbs. Also playing in the Big XII and has averaged 65 yards a game in 8 games. Like Thomas Jr., not much of a receiving threat out of the backfield however. Virginia: RB Jason Snelling. Big size at 5'11" and 233 lbs, placing in the tough ACC. May lack breakaway speed as he only has a long of 29 yards but is a hard nosed bruiser, averaging 77 YPG and has 20 catches too. Could be turned into a FB at the next level. Rice: RB Quinton Smith. Solid size at 5'11" and 195 lbs. but also plays in a weaker Conference USA. Seems to be what scouts are looking for though as he has averaged 90 yards a game with a long of 69 yards and has also caught 27 yards out of the backfield. Also averaging 5.3 YPC, showing that his long run was not just a fluke. Tulsa: WR Idris Moss. Only 5'10" and 180 lbs. but seems like a solid possession receiver. Has exploded this season with 40 catches and a 16.1 YPC despite having only his 3 longest catches be 49, 50, and 58 yards. Doesn't seem to be much of a TD thread as he only has 2 in his career but could turn into a Ricky Proehl type possession receiver in the NFL if he has good workout numbers.

Who doesn't like Summer School? Mark Harmon + Kirstie Alley + Chainsaw (come on...the death spoof with the sub was awesome!) + the dude who went to the bathroom for the entire summer ("My zipper got stuck")... It even had a subplot for the dog!

The Craft: The supernatural "Can't Hardly Wait" of teen movies (in terms of well known actors/actress' appearing). It involves Skeet Ulrich, Fairuza Balk in her breakout role, an early Neve Campbell, Rachel True, a young Christine Taylor, an early small role for Breckin Meyer, and Robin Tunney. Powder: Just a cool premise that unfortunately isn't as fulfilled as it could have been. Sean Patrick Flanery is really great as Jeremy Reed and it also involves Mary Steenburgen, Lance Henriksen in a non-horror movie role, and Jeff Goldblum who rocks as he always does ( ).

Unsure whether this should go here or in the off-season thread but here are my spotlight UFA's to follow team by team. More UFA Signings... Houston Texans signed Wake Forest LB Jon Abbate, Boise State QB Jared Zabransky, and Hampton WR Onrea Jones (57 catches, 679 yards, and 5 TD). New Orleans Saints signed Pittsburgh QB Tyler Palko and Notre Dame WR Rhema McKnight. Jacksonville Jaguars signed Tulane QB Lester Ricard, Sam Houston State RB D.D. Terry (215 carries, 1328 yards, and 15 TD), Oklahoma State WR D'Juan Woods, and Connecticut TE Dan Murray. Pittsburgh Steelers signed Minnesota RB Gary Russell and Baylor RB Paul Mosley who may get a look at FB.

David Ball~! and Darius Walker were both signed by the Chicago Bears. QB Toby Korrodi ended up being signed by the Arizona Cardinals.
-
I'm waiting for WR David Ball (New Hampshire) to get his name called. Not a big speed threat (4.66 40) but he has good quickness (6.94 3 Cone and 4.21 SS) and hands of glue. Would make a good #4/#5 WR for a team right now with an outside chance to wind up around #2 in a few years as a possession guy. Also Justise Hairston, RB, went to the Patriots

http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/10156954 (April 29, 2007) -- On Draft Weekend 2007, the biggest tremors in the football world came from a trade between the New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders. Randy Moss is on the verge of becoming a Patriot after New England agreed to send a fourth-round pick in Sunday's draft to Oakland for the mercurial and maddening wide receiver. Before the trade is completed, Moss must undergo a physical, which he arrived in New England on Sunday morning to take. Assuming Moss passes, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will be passing him the ball next season in one of the most dynamic and electric quarterback-wide receiver combinations that has ever played in the NFL. Moss already has agreed to dramatically restructure his contract, which is scheduled to pay him $9.75 million this coming season. New England was the one and only place Moss would agree to take a reduced contract, and he did so knowing that he would have the chance to win a Super Bowl. With the offseason that New England has had, no team in football has a better chance. Moss also comes to New England with the warning that, as Bill Parcells used to say, the light is yellow and ready to turn red. The Patriots have notified Moss that under no circumstance will they tolerate any of the transgressions that have marked his career. The first controversial incident that Moss is involved in will be his last. The Patriots insist they will release him. But now that they have him, they are thrilled. Brady is said to be very excited upon learning the news that his team had agreed to a trade with Oakland. Patriots coach Bill Belichick feels the same way as Brady. After spending previous seasons lacking a big-play target, the Patriots now have a plethora of them -- none any bigger than Moss. How the trade evolved is a story itself. Ongoing trade talks from throughout the offseason continued Friday and intensified Saturday night after the draft when the Raiders called the Patriots and got New England to sweeten its offer of what had been a sixth-round pick. New England agreed to trade a fourth-round pick to Oakland. The trade caps a remarkably and busy offseason for the Patriots, who have repositioned themselves as the team to beat in the AFC and the NFL. They have added former Ravens linebacker Adalius Thomas, former Bengals cornerback Tory James, former Dolphins running back Sammy Morris, former Dolphins wide receiver Wes Welker, former Eagles wide receiver Donte Stallworth and former Bengals wide receiver Kelley Washington. Oakland was in a position where it had to trade Moss. It could not afford to pay him his base salary while also signing No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell to a contract that is expected to include about $30 million in guaranteed money. Plus, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin had been anxious to deal Moss and start over fresh, able to implement his own ideas with his own players.

The Patriots have 8 picks tomorrow including 4 picks in the 6th round. Still lots of solid names available including RB Antonio Pittman, QB Troy Smith, etc. I'm curious to see who falls where and who trades up to pick which players. I guess the Bears are hoping Wolfe can turn into another MJD as a part of a committee with Benson on an 80/20 scenario? Really hope the Patriots can nab DeOssie too.

Hey, just updating you that a 30% off PITTSBURGH codeword sale at Mile High Comics will likely end next Monday. Just ordered Batgirl Adventures #1 for $20 (NM/M) along with a few other comics and knocked down the $42.80 ($8.56 per comic) to around $33 total (about $6.60 per comic, great value considering the price on the BA). They ship out of Colorado and living in Massachusetts, the shipment usually arrives in about 2-3 days. Site: Mile High Comics

Batman - The Long Halloween (Definitely worth reading. Artwork may take some getting used to but a fabulous mystery read.) - Batman: Year One - The Killing Joke (More a Joker story though) - Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Batman: Knightfall (the arc is worth reading... might want to hold off on this until some of the prior books have been read though) -
Good article on I-AA CB's and the recent success they have had in the NFL Draft Some interesting names over the past few years... Terrence McGee, Antoine Bethea, Rashean Mathis, and Nick Collins. The article also includes a look at the Top 25 I-AA prospects for those who will be going "Who?" when their name gets called.
