    TSM All-Time Baseball Tournament

The 2001 Oakland Athletics should be the "Moneyball" squad...they underachieved! their Pythag W/L by 2 games (They won 102 games as it was). Their pitching staff mainly carried them but their offense didn't suffer much with the likes of the Giambi brothers, Dye, and Eric Chavez coming into his own a bit.

    2007 NFL Playoffs

I'm curious to see if Manning and Brady continue to make the 'uncharacteristic' errors that we have seen both making in the playoffs. Manning = 1 TD vs. 5 INT (3 against KC, 2 against Baltimore) Brady = 4 TD vs. 3 INT (all against the Chargers)

I know the Seahawks staff has always seemed to be high on Wallace as a QB, as also seen with last year's spot starting duty, so I don't think they need to draft another QB. If they do, it will probably be a 5th/6th round project type for the practice squad.

    2007 NFL Playoffs

I remember while watching the game on television, you could practically see the Buccaneers defense just sitting on plays because they knew exactly what was going to happen. The fact that the Raiders didn't bother to change anything just made them deserving of getting thrashed.

My bad on not quoting the post by hyperchord24 that originally started this discussion. Just curious... has Vinny lost his leg strength or something? His season longs the past 4 years have been 48, 49, 48, and 48. As for Kaeding... he missed a 54 yard GT field goal. That's as far from a gimme FG as one can get. It's not like he was going for a 30 yard chip shot or anything. IIRC, his last miss against the Jets was also over 45+ yards.

Apparently WR Jacoby Jones has been lighting it up during the Shrine Game practices this week. He's out of Lane College. Height: 6'4" Weight: 210 lbs. Sigmund Bloom over at FBG (A great source) has been following the Shrine Practices along with Colorado based expert Cecil Lammey, another poster at FBG. These threads are great to find out who could be sleepers in the NFL Draft. They also put up "The Audible" utilizing ITunes, so if you use it, it's worth trying to download those too as they go more in-depth. If Brady didn't win those Super Bowls, I gather he'd be in the same tier as Donovan McNabb, Marc Bulger, and Steve McNair. Very good quarterbacks who haven't yet won a Super Bowl.

Okay, I admit the 'blowout' comment was f'n dumb. Here, I'll amend it for everyone's sake... jeez. A blowout = a win by 30 or more points.

Unless teams really need a RB, most of them usually fall to the teens/twenties simply because the need isn't that big for most teams. Good RBs can be had in later rounds and fall more. Larry Johnson/Willis McGahee both fell to 1.23 and 1.27. Steven Jackson was the first RB taken at 1.24, with Kevin Jones at 1.30. Frank Gore fell to 3.01 and Maroney was picked at 1.21. Here are the Top 15 teams and their RBs... Almost all of them have a Solid #1, Solid #2 at the worst however a rookie RB won't be as big an upgrade in comparison to other positions on that team. I starred the teams that I felt could use an upgrade at RB in the 1st round (not saying they would take one though). Oakland: LaMont Jordan/Justin Fargas*** Detroit: Kevin Jones Cleveland: Reuben Droughns Tampa Bay: Cadillac Williams Arizona: Edgerrin James Washington: Clinton Portis/Ladell Betts Minnesota: Chester Taylor Houston: Domanick Williams/Ron Dayne*** Miami: Ronnie Brown Atlanta: Warrick Dunn/Jerious Norwood San Francisco: Frank Gore Buffalo: Willis McGahee St. Louis: Steven Jackson Carolina: DeShaun Foster/DeAngelo Williams Pittsburgh: Willie Parker I could definitely see Marshawn Lynch falling down to the Packers at 1.16 and wouldn't be surprised to see AP "fall" to the Texans at 1.08 either. I think the fact that more teams are moving towards an "old school" RBBC system (look at the stats for teams from the 40's-60's in regards to their RBs and who got the majority of the carries) makes grabbing a first round RB to carry the whole load even less of a true 'need' thereby relegating talented RBs to the late 1st/early 2nd round or later.

Also... remember that the NFL defensive coaches are not exactly tools (usually...depending on the team). The LBs and Safeties that they draft aren't exactly the same slowpokes playing at Minnesota or Iowa where Ginn could easily use his speed to beat them in foot races. He'll be contended with on the line of scrimmage by CBs jamming him and once he gets past them, the Safety will also be there to help shadow him on deep routes. The upside for Ginn is Randy Moss and honestly, Moss was an utter freak in college production wise that carried over to the NFL. Ginn's lack of production makes me wonder if he can really become an instant playmaker when he steps onto the field in the NFL. If I were a college coach with Ginn on my team, he'd be my Calvin Johnson go to #1 without a doubt WR. I've also heard that his route running isn't that advanced compared to other WRs in the draft and that could hurt his stock as well. You can have all the speed in the world but if you can't run a route properly, you become a one-dimensional WR that is worth a 5th or 6th round pick at best.

Reggie Bush on Grass: In 5 games... 53 carries, 138 yards, 1 TD. 30 catches, 230 yards, 0 TD. 1 game = roughly 11 carries, 28 yards, 6 catches, 46 yards. Reggie Bush on Turf: In 11 games... 102 carries, 427 yards, 5 TD. 58 catches, 512 yards, 2 TD. 1 game = roughly 9 carries, 39 yards, 5 catches, 47 yards. Deuce on Grass: In 5 games... 74 carries, 264 yards, 5 TD. 5 catches, 46 yards, 0 TD. 1 game = roughly 15 carries, 53 yards, 1 catch, 9 yards. Deuce of Turf: In 10 games... 170 carries, 793 yards, 5 TD. 25 catches, 152 yards, 0 TD. 1 game = roughly 17 carries, 79 yards, 2-3 catches, 15 yards. Seems like Deuce benefits more from playing on turf in both aspects of his game whereas Bush benefits more from a higher yard per carry. ...Small Sample Size

I can see Colt Brennan going in the 3rd round. He has a bit of a sidearm release that could hurt him if it turns scouts off (like Omar Jacobs out of Bowling Green). There are quite a few teams out there with 3 QBs on their roster who could be looking at a more reliable #2/#3 backup that Brennan could fill. - Tampa Bay Bucs: Bruce Gradkowski, Tim Rattay, Luke McCown, and Chris Simms. - Carolina Panthers: Jake Delhomme, Chris Weinke, and Brett Basanez - Baltimore Ravens: Steve McNair, Kyle Boller, and Drew Olson - Detroit Lions: Jon Kitna, Josh McCown, and Dan Orlovsky - San Francisco 49ers: Alex Smith, Trent Dilfer, and Shaun Hill

I already gave my response on the "blowout" generalization, Mordecai and Snuff, including mentioning that 4 of the 5 games I "generalized" under the '8 point' scenario were decided by at least 14 points. I merely said more than a TD simply because people were commenting how the Patriots rarely "blew out" their opponents thereby giving me the idea that they were talking about 1 TD or less victories. Since you two know what a true "blow out" is... what exactly is the point differential accepted? One could blame the Patriots for the lack of a true blowout game (just for you fellas, let's say 20+ points). Both Super Bowls that didn't feature them had point differentials of 27 and 11 points. Only 10 Super Bowls met the criteria of a 20 point differential between winner and loser prior to 2001.
