HD would be the place for this... if it was still NHB, newly opened, and it was still lumped in with the wrestling section. This place divorced itself long ago from one of the reasons it was originally created. There's a different type of atmosphere here than that of the wrestling folders. I think stuff from the wrestling section should really only be moved here if it had degenerated into flaming, but until then General Wrestling, Fantasy Booking or Wrestling Polls/Lists (one of the latter two for this type of thread) is more suitable.

The OAO Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thread
Golgo 13 replied to DMann2003's topic in Television & Film
I wanna say the 'Joe Estevez as Grim Reaper' movie is Soultaker. Edit: Damn, I was really late on that answer. As much as I like MST3K, most of the episodes I caught were during the Sci-Fi era. Even then I never caught all those episodes, so I regrettably missed out on a lot. I absolutely hated it when Sci-Fi moved the show to Saturday mornings and began airing the same ones over and over again, it seemed. I thought that was a really stupid move. -
All that junk Coffey mentioned is a concern in any online game though. It happens. We can only hope Yukes gets it somewhere in the realm of decent which, not to be negative, I doubt they will. It took them years to get in a proper damage and submission system, first done on the N64 for crying out loud, so how do you think they'll do a genre first properly. And count me in as another who hates the SD 'superstar points' system. I know it's old hat to whine about missing the AKI way of doing things, but I wish they'd just bring back the WM 2000/No Mercy system. The SD way of doing things is fucking tedious, especially when you have the intention of making multiple CAWs. Even if going with the clone prodedure of building a 'base' CAW with unspent points and cloning from him, it's still grating. I want the season to be used for storylines and the thrill of unlocking shit, not the uncalled for frustration in spending 1-2 years building a CAW to even make him presentable. And get rid of the unneeded CAW attire process as well. I see no fucking reason why shirts already in the game on existing wrestlers can't be available right off the bat for CAWs, or at least the logos for them. Pattern this, shape that, letter this, layer that just to get a fucking Dudleys shirt for a Spike CAW, since apparently the stupid game doesn't have available the shirt Bubba and D-Von wear. Fuck you, Yukes. /rant

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
Golgo 13 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
Although it couldn't be helped with them having to change the storyline around, Jasmine was never needed. Angel always had the Powers by his side, without one being sent down from the heavens to hammer it in the viewers' heads. Connor possibly would've still become disaffected with the world, and Angel would still be forced to take him out, and Angel would've lost faith and hope in God just the same. The metaphor would still get across, only not so blatantly. Even if Jasmine was working on behalf of the Powers, it seems pretty rotten of the PTB to do that, as has been established. Even if Joss' atheism was coming into play here, it's fairly well-known that the Powers thus far have been established as benevolent, not so aggressive beings. It doesn't seem like them to send down Jasmine, with the selfish motives in her egomania, bliss through force and people eating ways to 'save' earth. Onto the whole predestination thing. Firstly, I never liked 'deus ex machina' explanations in works of literature, etc, which is all I see fate and predestination as in the Angel mythos. I am typically intrigued by stuff like this, but in Angel it bugs me a little bit. It makes the hero seem really incompetent that he can't make these decisions for himself, it makes Angel look as if he truly doesn't have control over his own destiny. Time after time supposedly outside forces have sent him moments of clarity, or worse, outright saved his ass. As much as I absolutely love 'Angel,' especially over the past three seasons, the principal characters were a little better when you thought they were actually in control of themselves, with more human will being the driving force behind the major decisions and events, and ultimately the consequences. Not because of some preordained sequence of events and neck breaking shoves in the right direction from the previously mentioned outside forces. As I said, it would have been a lot easier to swallow had there been less 'degrees of separation,' for lack of a better term, preferably stopping at the Beast and Cordy and possibly with a more earthly puppet master that we could identify with more easily. But once Jasmine was brought in it got a little more far fetched and less realistic (yes, I am aware I'm talking about a universe with vampires running around). All in all, the big reveal of Angel and crew being moved around like pawns on a chessboard, especially for so freaking long, just didn't sit right with me. -

I still don't buy that Jasmine was an agent of the Powers anyway. Unless it was explained in full somewhere and I forgot about it, I always thought that Jasmine, as one of the several Powers (in something similar to the Greek Pantheon), went rogue and carried out her plan against the wishes, or without the knowledge, of the others. So the others wouldn't care if AI and the world rebelled against her. That said, Angel letting himself get lured in and swallowed by the beast would've been enough for the Powers to turn on him (which they never truly did, so it's a moot point anyway). I should mention that I never liked the whole explanation for Jasmine, at least as far as the whole 'everything in the last five years has been predetermined' aspect is concerned. Things would've been so much easier to swallow if it was just the Beast that had to be explained, if going by the allegedly original storyline, instead of the farther fetched machinations of Jasmine. One thing is for certain, is that W&H should've had a larger role during that whole time period. It's something I toyed with in my mind, but it would've been preferable had they been revealed to be behind Jasmine's rise, in league with Sahjhan and Prof. Siedel (who can be explained as disciples of Jasmine, much like Skip). I think it would've been perfect if that's how Lindsey returned, seeking vengeance on AI for ruining his 'special project' that he began by resurrecting Darla. I hope ME plays up W&H's definitive role in all that, instead of living with a bunch of fan's pipe dream explanations, but I doubt it. Onto what Brian said, I'd say getting Angel in also has the bonus of trying to corrupt or destory him again (with the failsafe that was nearly unleashed by Lindsey and Eve earlier this season). But Illyria itself probably was a backfired plan. I'd say Gunn did what was needed of him, although Hamilton still trying to retrieve him from the torture dimension, I believe without Angel even asking him, puts that into doubt. Although one of the evilish lawyers could've done the same thing, Gunn putting into motion Fred's death puts more impact into it, especially in his previously mentioned selfish motives, making it harder of a blow to recover from and possibly splitting the group. Which is why it had to be Gunn. The question remains whether there's more of a purpose for him as far as the Senior Partners are concerned. -
The Matt Hardy face turn was pretty poor, and I don't mean just because he's gonna be anchored to Lita again or because the only reason he's turning was because they can't find anything to do with him. When Matt first turned on Lita after coming to Raw, he couldn't care less about her and even tossed her around a little himself, making her life hell for a couple weeks anyway. Now he saves her when just moments before he was going to face her in a mixed tag? Stupid.

From the pinned topic... right at the top of the page... in bold type... "In the past months, we've had some topics posted in CE that have been significantly less than relevant. The Current Events forum is for discussion of important happenings and issues on the international, national, and local arenas. Posting news stories is common and perfectly acceptable, as is starting a thread about a hot-button issue like gun control. However, stories about men severing their own penises, fishermen getting anally violated with bananas, and anything else that's similar to that is fluff. Fluff does not belong in Current Events. Fluff belongs in General Chat, or NHB if the material warrants it. Current Events should be kept for things which actually have a meaningul impact on peoples' lives."

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
Golgo 13 replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
See, I don't keep up with the ratings on a regular basis. Which is why the 2.2 seemed uncharacteristically low. I should mention I left that planet long ago, by the way. I'm one of those who, once the cancellation was announced, saw no hope in it being brought back. I fucking love this finale. The deaths make sense, in that this was their price to pay for joining W&H. Dying is really the only way to go, for those like Wes and Gunn. Lorne really souring and becoming disillusioned is tremendous, and let's face it, did he ever really want to be a part of all this? The Harmony turn also comes together well. Combine her evil nature with how much she was underappreciated by Angel, along with a little bitterness concerning Spike, and you have a vengeful bitch. Plus it's not like she hasn't betrayed AI before. -
Stop posting.

Yeah. The Vertebreaker isn't related to the Kryptonite Krunch at all. About the only thing they have in common is that you're holding them to the back of your body as the move is performed. The Vertebreaker is a Gori Special variant. Stand with your back to the recipient, with him bent over and facing toward you. Hook his arms, twist, pick him up and drop him on his upper back, facing away as he lands. The Kryptonite Krunch is the closest to an EF, except it's inverted, as Dace said. Lift the opponent up as if for Bob Holly's Alabama Slam, keep hold of the inside leg, cradle the head so that he's facing up and drop him.

I like to think that rating was because of Angel viewers not fully knowing it was back. The best of Smallville stretch really killed any momentum Angel was building. -
I have dark brown, practically black hair. Up until a few months ago I had it right at the shoulders, but came to grips with the fact that it looked like shit and was generally in bad shape, so I shaved it off. I did the shaving thing for a few weeks. I soon got sick of THAT, so now I'm growing it out again, but it's not even half an inch yet.

Add Trapt to that list and you're on to something. By the way, I don't hate Three Days Grace because they're mainstream, I hate them because they're a fucking horrible band.

Yeah, it was a dance/techno song. Not even close to rap. Anyway, while searching for the lyrics, I came across a George Michael song by the name of 'Freek.' I didn't bother downloading it to see, but the music heard fits in with his style and it makes sense that Chappelle's Show would use something by him because, well, you know.

First, it's "Babaganoosh" or "Baba Ganoush," if going with the established spelling for the food. Second, although this is more trivial and I'm only trying to give reason for why Al says it, I can only assume he does it because of MXC (which usually airs before or after Heat), where they use it as a common name for the various jobbers there. A small bit of cross promotion, I guess. And yeah, Garrison had the cowboy gimmick before, before he began showing up on tv. As bad and/or outdated as the gimmick may be (not for me though, I still love it and want it to return), the gimmick is much better than Cade as a random generic rookie.

All caps is the equivalent of screaming. 95% of the time it's just not needed. The only time it should come into play is for emphasis of a word within a sentance, excitement, anger and that's it. But even for anger it just looks childish and for excitement it looks lame unless done facetiously. All caps is just as bad as tHiS. Let's face it, people will still see the topic if it's regular text, and if it interests them, they'll click it. Personally, if I see all caps in a topic title or in a post, I just ignore it. The no caps thing has the backing of the mods. Glennsoe has been warned for this multiple times already in the WWE folder, along with his topics having been changed. Additionally, some guy a few weeks ago was warned, then suspended and finally banned for repeatedly typing in all caps.

Who would that be? If your implying some fighting words my way, then I believe you've found yourself in the wrong town. Also, as a note why i said it. There was a kid who was about 14, with four of his other 14 yr old friends at the movie theatres. They were sitting right behind me sharing one cigarette for about 25 mins before I did anything. But still, I despise of those stupid ass kids. Anyway, after that incident, and part because how I have been raised, smoking to me just represents dirty shit. Hell, it was how I was brought up. If you wanna sling some more shit, we can have some fun with it, otherwise, accept my explanation, thats all I gotta say. Speaking as an (occasional) smoker myself, I don't have a problem with people who are opposed to smoking. Just as long as they don't bother me about smoking, and when they do, they bring up their points in an enlightened and relaxed (non-confrontational) manner. Saying someone 'sounds like a FUCKWAD' because they like to smoke is the exact opposite however, and makes you look worse than those who do choose to smoke. At the very least did explain your stance eventually, which you should've done in the first place instead of coming with the FUCKWAD stuff right off the bat.

Meh. As funny as this thread was, it's no classic. Especially when compared with the Fertig thread, which was much more spontaneous and had a fair amount of depth to it with the constantly evolving ideas. This thread is one played out note all the way through, mocking a misspelling which anyone can do, the premise being beaten to a pulp by the second page. Meanwhile the Fertig thread took a topic that had nothing blatant to mock at the outset, ran with it and was ended while creativity was still reasonably high.

Shit. You may be right. I think I got it mixed up because there was no real difference between the co-owner and GM office.
