    State of the Folder

There are too many interpretations by mods and posters alike of where to draw the line. I don't like any type of moderation in a folder like this (or anywhere, but that's another matter). Voting lawless frontier eliminates the problem and hurt feelings.

Pawning decisions off on other people #29399

Well, both, but Taiga handled it. I was about to say, maybe this is how it all starts. One minute you're letting your girlfriend violate you or dabbling in tranny porn and the next minute it's dicks everywhere. Like I said, though, I don't believe the first necessarily leads to full blown gay. I'm really being semi facetious anyway. I've no desire to involve myself with any dick not my own, the thought of it disgusts me. However, if I ever did, that would have to be the situation. Like if I stumbled into an effeminate trap one night. If I ever really, really wanted to intentionally break myself in to gaydom, I'd start with a very convincing tranny, anyway, but I find they're pretty rare outside of porn.

When your brain is on "E"

Yeah, I've been Manson for six plus years, just a month or two ahead of Spike. But he's gone through so many revisions and changes that he may as well be a different character, which he basically is. He isn't the same as he was one or two years ago, let alone six. I don't think you really need to turn heel, at this point it's part of who WC is. Though like Hogan, if you did, it would be huge, but should be under appropriate circumstances. Just continue to add things here and there that you think would fit him and add a new dimension to the character, if you decide to stick with him. I think generally, though, it's a lot easier to work with heels than faces, and the inclusion of Blood Frenzy limits what you can do with a face WC to freshen him up. Speaking personally, though, and I don't know what it is, but I'm not a huge fan of Bruner. There's something missing. It doesn't mean I don't get bored, obviously. I'm just stuck on Manson and I know most of these secondary characters don't go over well, which is why I haven't changed to someone entirely new. But it's through my boredom and desire to run someone else different that most successful aspects of Manson from the last few years came to be. Everything from a Stan Hansen type (Lariat, Raging Bull) to Super Dragon and Muta rip offs (original robe, Curbstomp, cloak and mask). When I incorporated Mansonosity officially, all that was on a lark, since at that point I was basically done, took him as far as he could go at the time and just wanted to try something else new, and all that other stuff just happened to fit. I would have been officially, officially done if I hadn't I intended on adding more elements of a cunning, old school type with a lot of quick hitters, which would bring him closer to the Raven or Roberts mold, but decided I didn't like it. My favorite idea is a big Japanese, Takeshi Morishima type, which I love, and because of general discord and coincidences that have taken me out of it somewhat, I've seriously considered switching entirely.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

Occurrences and bad luck has been the Nuggets credo for years now.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

I don't believe JR Smith and Anthony are poor individual defenders. They've improved a lot over the course of the season and aren't as bad as they once were. The Nuggets just have no concept of team defense and this goes for a majority of them. They don't run at shooters and contest, close out, switch quickly, defend pick and rolls, double team and trap, or help each other out when needed. They do have decent one on one defenders, but no one to cover for the poorer ones like Anthony when they get beat, except for Camby and Nene. If not his defense, which he's gradually improved in, but still isn't as good as it can and should be, then his rebounding is an even bigger improvement and good for 8+ a night, so he at least adds that much. They could really use Nene down low on defense and offense, but who knows if he'll even heal up enough to be a factor in his 5-10 minutes. I've said all season that Smith should be starting in place of the black hole Carter. He's had a few good scoring games, but is largely a drain who offers nothing that someone else couldn't. He's basically a very, very poor man's Miller, and that's not a compliment. Give it to him at 10 feet and he'll throw up a brick. Bring him in for 2nd team stability and control and nothing more. I'd rather have a gimpy, non-defense playing Atkins out there. If only Atkins had gotten more playing time to shake off the rust at the end of the season, because Carter as third option should be reality. While Smith isn't a defensive stud and loses his way occasionally, he's arguably one of the best on the team, offers more size, and makes up for what he does lack with his athleticism, energy and offense. I've always felt he should be out there with Melo and AI as much as possible because he'll either be left open or he'll make things easier for AI and Anthony. Throw Smith on Kobe and Martin on Odom, Camby on Gasol, and switch when needed. Anthony can handle Radmanovic. I don't seriously believe the Nuggets will do damage, however. It'd be great if they do, but I'm not holding out hope given the way LA handled us this season. If I get anything out of this I'm hoping it's Karl being shown the door.

    Ask Milky.

Well, I have done that, but really, I'd get fucked in the ass with a dick. Let's just say Leena's not the only one here who's been DPed. See, when I tried to be gay, I said "Well, if I'm going to be gay, I'm doing this shit right, I'm not going to be like these girls who walk around saying they're bi when all they've done is make out with a chick at a party." and I got a couple guys to break me in. Once I went through that, I knew I could do anything. I knew that. Not about the DP though. Fag. I'm mildly interested. Not enough to ask, but still. I'd probably keep it that way until the day the other brings it up. The solution probably lies in finding one of those girls who gives anal ultimatums. The way I figure is if a woman is behind it all, then it's not gay. It's just rubber or whatever, and the ass can feel good for either party, so why not. Lots of dudes shy away from that when there's no reason to. There's nothing wrong with a tongue or finger, at least. I kind of rationalize tranny porn the same way. It's not as gay as it could be, basically. In fact, in the case of tranny on female porn, I'm better off and more masculine because there's one more pair of tits than in regular straight porn. It's a sliding scale of gay. Which is why if I were to go gay for some reason, it'd be with a tiny, effeminate thing receiving, always, so I can say "Least I'm not a faggot" or "Hey, at least I'm not him." So is going gay going to be a seasonal thing for you? Every fall Milky goes gay?

    Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

I forgot about Heroes. I heard it was merely average, like Batman Begins, but you take what you can get. IIRC it was Batman Vengeance or Rise of Sin Tzu that was about as well received. I haven't played either one anyway, but if there's a Heroes 2 then I would give that a shot. Oh. I mean gameplay wise. I can't see how they can adapt either one properly.

    Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

I'll take this as a chance to play as DC characters in a potentially playable game. Yeah, I don't really care about the lack of blood and gore, I'm mainly into it because of the DC involvement. I am pessimistic, though. How the hell are they going to handle Flash and Superman? Now where's my Marvel vs Capcom 3.

    OAO Anime/Manga Thread

I don't mind good filler either, but how rare is that. I did like a couple Naruto episodes/arcs. D.Gray-man's are okay and fit into the context of the story (and it's no doubt headed into fillers again soon). The Bount arc started off good, dragged for a while, then picked up a whole lot after the Soul Society infiltration. It's probably the best example I can think of in any case.

    OAO Anime/Manga Thread

I was reading up some and had no idea they were already up to the Grimmjow fight. I am curious about how they intend to handle this. Some are positing that these new characters are manga bound given their stature. As far as the Naruto filler is concerned, it appears they're mainly there to fill the lull before Akatsuki starts rolling. I don't really believe they'll detract too much. Like I said before, more of Team 10 can't possibly be a bad thing. Team 7 will break from Naruto's training at some point to join in, hopefully Sai and everyone on Team 10 not named Shikamaru will get to do something, it'll end, and then they'll go straight into Akatsuki. Hopefully. I do wish longer series would shift more toward the short season format that some shows use rather than filler. Or a break after every lengthy arc. But they can't lose out on all that money.

Bount arc was solid. No, I'm not joking. I haven't kept up with the anime for the past few months anyway, so I had no idea about this new filler. And I thought they were doing that floating shit in the manga too. I can't recall.

The OAO Dragon Ball movie thread

Some of the Bleach cast have come around. Bosch is one of the few that actually have. Ishida is okay and throughout the Ichigo fight I thought Byakuya sounded better. However, many of the tertiary characters (Toshiro Hitsugaya, Shunsui Kyouraku) have not and are so far off the mark, some even being completely wrong for the part. It wouldn't have been too difficult finding someone who could go deeper for Chad, either, considering how simple he is, and Orihime is part of the problem with female VAs that Hawk talked about. It isn't so much a problem with the VAs themselves, who may be talented since there are a lot of names there who have no trouble getting work, they just aren't right for some parts. It's merely bad casting and directing. So much of the dialogue sounds forced and while fans would have complained if they hadn't been, pronouncing Japanese words and names exactly, thus emphasizing them in comparison to the rest of the script, makes them stand out and seem unnatural, and disrupts flow, so that doesn't help. Likewise, though I do want them to match voices as closely as possible, when it's forced and sounds unnatural, like a lot of times in Bleach, there's just no point. Like the chick that plays Orihime. She was Eureka in Eureka Seven and was pretty good there, if only because it seemed natural above all else. Then she was Mikuru in the Haruhi dub, and while she can match pitch and everything, it just doesn't sound right in the end, like with Orihime. I just have problems upon problems with Bleach, but the main cast is, by and large, okay. Excepting Orihime and my minor Chad hangup. So another quirk of mine is that if all the voices are correct, tone, pitch, all that, but it sounds like crap regardless because of other factors, then fuck it. In that case I'd rather have natural sounding, if incorrect voices, over something perfect.

The OAO Dragon Ball movie thread

True. I mean, he's good and can just mail it in and still be the highest paid, most in demand guy out there, but his Spike is just the same as his Roger which is just the same as his Kazuma which is just the same as his Mugen, with little variance. It seems his main roles are always the ones where he mails it in. But I wonder how much of it is his choice and how much of it is typecasting and the director telling him to play Spike because it's what he's most recognizable as and is what 'everyone' expects and wants. Though he tried to do something different from the usual in Naruto, too, where he plays Zabuza and Orochimaru, though I can't remember much of his Zabuza. Crispin Freeman is another one of those guys that basically plays the same character throughout. I love Misa's dub voice. She hit the mark and I never thought she did too much of what you described. Whoever played her got as close to Aya Hirano's Misa as anyone could have. In fact, she would have been much more preferable over who they got for the Haruhi dub, who really rolls with the vapid valley girl thing to the point where she misses the character entirely. I didn't like L at first, either, but I thought he came around as time went on, much like Light did. I think it's because my first exposure to anime, at first, was to dubs. For a lot of years I just watched whatever happened to hit CN. It's only within the past few years that I began watching subs more. It's strange, I dislike whenever an anime, movie, or whatever, deviates from the source material, but I don't mind dubs. I only ask they don't stray too much from how a character should sound or take it upon themselves to alter the music, characters and story, much less to the extent of what was done to anime in the 70s/80s, One Piece and DBZ, just to bring this back around. Even though companies have enough trouble with this, hopefully they hire talented enough writers, directors and actors to take it from there.

    Parents fight over gang ties...

I don't know where you got that from, but Commerce City is just north of Denver's northeast corner, nowhere near the mountains. I'll tell you how it happened, though. The area is basically built around two or three failed towns, an oil refinery, a former military weapons plant/Superfund site, Rocky Mountain Arsenal, a dog track, and the former Stapleton and current DIA airports. It's more or less home to a lot of industrial working class, and is just dank and depressing. There isn't much to do except drugs; meth is allegedly big there, like in a lot of similar towns, though you can probably get anything there. Check it out on Google Maps or something and you'll see just how close it is to everything and nothing. If you've ever seen Tom Goes to the Mayor, it reminds me of Jefferton. It's admittedly improving some, but I still wouldn't want to live there. Wait.

    OAO Anime/Manga Thread

I still need to get into both, but the Pumpkin Scissors manga is supposed to be really good. You may want to look into Fullmetal Alchemist. Though from what I've heard and read of it, the anime version is better, in my opinion, especially as far as dealing with war. Full Metal Panic, but I think the anime is better than the manga adaptation there, too. You may want to check out Now and Then, Here and There and Grave of the Fireflies, which deal with war, but except for the book Grave is based off of, they're strictly anime. Maybe something like Escaflowne or Utawarerumono. As far as I've seen there aren't many manga and anime that deal with anything resembling modern warfare. They're almost always set as medieval fantasy or sci-fi, or mechs are added, etc., so you may want to look into fantasy, mecha and such. Admittedly I'm not too familiar with manga, but it also seems war is more often produced as anime, or at least the more well known ones are. Well, Gundam adaptations are always options.

The OAO Dragon Ball movie thread

There are a lot of action shows like that, dragging through fights and jumping up levels, mainly. I can't name one of DB/Z/GT, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, etc., that don't, but some just handle it better than others. DBZ, as influential as it was by starting the trend, handles most of that stuff badly, while most of its successors have only improved on the formula by, you know, filling dead space with prolonged action or character development, not just measuring their dicks for twenty minutes, or making attempts to show and explain why they've managed to level up. As for why it's so beloved, in a lot of cases it's just because it was their first, I think. There's really no other way to explain it and it was the same for me at one point. For others, it's the same with Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, and Inuyasha, to name a few. In ten years, chances are some kid will be saying the same about Naruto. Speaking of Inuyasha, it isn't that the major fights were ever extraordinarily long, simply that everything in between them is a drag and racked with filler. The anime and manga especially have gone on far too long without any resolution, with the anime eventually going into 'hiatus'. I actually thought it was okay at one point and not too offensive to my sensibilities, until it jumped the shark by resurrecting Kikyo after her supposed second death with Inuyasha eventually discovering the ability to shoot diamond shards out of his sword. Dumb.

I'm more tolerant of dubs than most and think it's been a while since every dub was terrible. There are still stinkers, sure, but nothing compared to the 80s-90s. Even Funimation has improved since then. There really has been a much better ratio since the success of Cowboy Bebop. Just off the top of my head, Bebop, Trigun, Big O, Fullmetal Alchemist, Full Metal Panic, Eureka Seven, Samurai Champloo, Ghost in the Shell, Paranoia Agent, Naruto, and Death Note, all range from decent to pretty good, even great. That's not counting the big budget Disney/Ghibli collaborations, which always seem to be handled well. I actually like the voices themselves, it's everything else already alluded to regarding DBZ that people have problems with. As I recall, it was partially handled by Saban, at first, and produced for Saturday mornings, which featured even worse cuts and voice acting. It's only after it went to Cartoon Network and Funimation began handling it entirely that there was any improvement, with them eventually releasing new DVDs and making things right, albeit five years after people stopped caring. Anyway, this looks awful, yeah. Speed Racer really doesn't look so bad to me, and I hate the Wachowskis. My sticking point is Christina Ricci.

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

I just don't trust the Nuggets enough to split the away/home back to back versus Utah and Houston. They have losing records against both while Golden State can definitely win against Phoenix and have the Clippers and Sonics at home. Memphis is the only sure thing on Denver's schedule.

How do you prefer to die?

In the middle of relations with a young hooker during a final drugs and booze binge or at the hands of a crooked nurse right as I begin life support/just after I become feeble enough to get put in a home. Maybe combine the two by letting an opportune nurse take advantage of me for a couple years until death in exchange for my potential millions. I used to think it'd be something grand to play a life and death game of sorts. Basically I'd pay a hitman/sniper type years in advance to hunt me down once I age past a certain point, go underground and fortify my defenses, then see which of us goes first. Either me by his hand or old age, or him by my crack security team. Was that a book or movie? It might have been. Cannibalized at the hands of an obsessed lover might be a good way to go. But knock me out and drug me first so I don't see it coming. I want to be famous in any scenario. Realistically I just want them to just pull the plug if I ever need life support and the requirement of a machine to live and is probably the way I'll go. If I ever become so feeble that my mind is gone too. Get it over with. The only exceptions are if I fall into a coma early, since you always hear about people coming out of comas. Then keep my coma beard and play Rip Van Winkle. Or if technology ever progresses to the point where they can save you down the line. I hope they solve all those brain and nerve complexities so they can begin transplanting brains into functioning cyborg bodies. Some Ghost in the Shell shit. Maybe I'll just hope for the best and freeze myself just before/after the time comes.

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

Even if the Nuggets beat the Warriors on the road, they have games with Houston and Utah coming up, while Golden State has Phoenix. The Sacramento and Seattle losses were inexcusable and if it comes down to that, then heads should roll. If the Nuggets get in regardless, but fail to improve on their usual playoff act, that would/should also call for a change. I never thought of Carlisle. I had Jeff Van Gundy in mind. Some others want Larry Brown. I'm not so sure about that one.
