How many books are in that series? Is it worth reading? I know it's a bit off-topic, but a few friends and family members have consistently recommended that I read the series even though I'm not a King fan. I think there are 7 books and it is definately worth reading. I'm not a huge King fan either, but it's a masterpiece. More off-topicness, but what the hell.. Apparently Gennedy Tartakovsky is trying to pitch an animated series based on the Dark Tower to HBO.
-
I'll probably pick this up on DVD as I can rarely find time to watch these series' when they actually air. The animation style is alright for computer generated stuff, but I do prefer the Tartakovsky-driven original series.

Exploding midgets!

I dunno - their press release says that it will include the features that the LG one does not have including HDi (the application software used to play the special features). We'll have to wait and see I guess, and I'm cool with waiting. I can still use my PS2 as a regular DVD player if/when my current player spins out of control into a nearby ditch.

Apparently Samsung has a dual format player that will support all features of both disc formats slated to be released this X-Mas. Crossing my fingers.
-
I gotta say: I hate this dual format bullshit and that certain studios only release on one format. I don't ever plan on getting a PS3, either. Maybe I'll just wait until there's a hardcore dual format player that can utilize all aspects of the discs...

Wonderful...

Some interesting speculation on who's in the coffin over at http://lost.cubit.net/

Good point Gogo. Either way my interest in this show has been reinvigorated, thank goodness.

Lostpedia says that "Damon and Carlton also hinted that the show will be taking a whole other direction and this will be made clear by the last 5 minutes of the show, which has been highly rumoured to be a flash forward of two losties on the outside world" - so that bold direction might actually be the way they're going.

http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/05...e_tv_pilot.html Lost game for iPods.. $4.99 on the iTunes store.. it looks pretty interesting if you watch the preview via the iTunes store and the graphics aren't too shabby. I think I'll check this out since it's so cheap.

Still doesn't explain why the newspaper says "the body of Jo..." - as for when he actually dies, who knows when it's going to be? Might not even be until the end of Season 4 or sometime during Season 5.
-
I dunno. I'm pretty much convinced that the viewing/funeral was for Locke. The newspaper says "body of Jo" - I don't actually see "from" New York in there, just "New York" mentioned - and the casket could be smaller for a multitude of reasons that I'm sure we'll find out in the next seasons flashbacks. Maybe the Locke character takes an even more tragic turn and actually loses his legs somehow. Locke certainly didn't want to leave the island either, so maybe Jack was so interested in him since he'd be one of the only other people who'd want to get back there with him, and when he saw that he was dead his plans started falling apart. Locke also has no friends, no family, so obviously no one would be at the funeral/viewing. It's also not much of a stretch to assume that because of this, Locke landed in LA after being taken from the island, and stayed there - settling in what looked like Crackton, heh - since he didn't have anywhere else to go. Also, kind of off-topic... but I was wondering... does the state, or whoever, just put on these viewings when someone dies by default? I mean, otherwise wouldn't someone had to of requested there be a viewing or something like that? Normally wouldn't you just bury the person if no next of kin or friends came forward?

I'm thinking that was the booze and Oxycontin talking. Jack spent all his time thinking about the Island and what led him to it, he probably had a bad flashback to when he confronted his father. No one told him differently or acted like he was insane. He said go upstairs and see if my father is more drunk then me. He also told the chief of surgery that he doesn't know anything about him - so it's possible that the chief didn't know Jack's dad is dead, and was just trying to calm him down instead. He also flipped when the pharmacist was going to call his father's practice, and I'm guessing it wasn't just because he was lying about who wrote the prescription.
-
Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I think I also read this somewhere else in this thread too. So that the present would be the main characters off the island, and the flashbacks would now be back on the island instead. Not sure how I feel about that though. If it is true, I just hope the "present-off-the-island" stuff has as much mystery around it's plot instead of "OMG HELP ME FIND THE ISLAND!" all the time.

So... where does the show go from here? I mean, it's been signed for 3 more 16 episode seasons, right? So how much can you fill in between Jack getting on the phone and the rescue party coming in to pick them up? "We'll be there in no time!" Too bad we have to wait til February 2008 for this to pick back up.

Saying that you don't read comics and going out of your way to say that you hate comics and hate comic book movies are two different things in my eyes. I'm not trying to start a fight here - but I'm also not going to apologize for my opinion that Ledger doesn't deserve the role and that there are far better actors out there who probably wouldn't go out of their way to make such assholish remarks right before they start filming a movie of the same genre that they say they "fucking hate." Moving on....

*F-U DOUBLE POST!*

What is this? A download for the 360 version?

I'd link the facebook image where I got the Ballsack Mountin' reference from, but I think my co-worker's profile is locked to the public anyway. Either way it was a pretty funny mock movie poster. ANYWAY, I didn't say anything about him playing a gay guy in a movie and whether or not he was a good actor. Maybe you should pay attention to the point of the post instead of nitpicking on little things and twisting them into something they're not. The fact of the matter is that it has nothing to do with being a fanboy or a comic historian. The guy went on record to say he "fucking hates" comics and comic book movies. Dunno about you, but I'd question the guys committment to the project of a COMIC BOOK MOVIE if he was on my payroll.
-
I still can't believe that Ledger is being kept on for this role after the things he said about comic books/comic book movies. "Oh, but I love what Nolan has done." How convenient, Heath. Maybe he should stick to crap like A Knight's Tale and Ballsack Mountin.

Saw it twice this weekend - I went with one set of friends on Friday, and then another who hadn't seen it yet on Saturday. I thought it was pretty well done. It wasn't better than the first, but it was up there in terms of sequels. I'm just glad it didn't suck. Reports are floating around that "28 Months Later" is already in pre-production...! I was also hoping for a repeat of "East Hastings" but it wasn't in there that I noticed. Such a good track! That entire album 'f#a#infinity' is amazing.
