No- marks DO take title belts seriously. WCW basically told their fans that the belt was a complete joke on 1.4.99 WWF did stuff like the double switch at IX and Diesel winning in 8 seconds and they went down the toilet. In 1999 WWF could afford to fuck around with their belt for a bit but in 2000 (for the most part) they made their WWF title a serious belt once again- and did insane business. Marks DO care about titles I wasn't talking about the belts. I was talking about the revenues.

It's been shown and stated time and time again, and even in this forum, that the IWC is only a small fraction of the wrestling fan base. As for the other stuff... Talk to any marks and you'll see for yourself. Go to house shows and listen to them. It's fairly easy to guage who they're into and who they're not. From what I've seen, to marks, Triple H is just as over as a heel as someone like Chris Jericho is.
-
Boring to smart marks maybe. But then, the majority of WWE's revenue comes from marks, and the majority of then neither know or care about any of this crap.

His work since he came back in July 2002 still owns anything HHH has done since January of the same year. Maybe I should put "COLD HARD FACT" in front of it so I can be just a little more obnoxious about it. Yeah, those extremely boring resthold festivals he's had with Rhyno are just *****, baby!

Wow, it's like talking to bricks.

He didn't have it for a year. He had it 9 months [December to September] and don't even get me started on this, as one of the common gripes from Smarks about the WWE is that titles are always hotshotted around and that they never have long title reigns. 9 months is nothing, Bruno Sammartino held the title for years on end, btw.

Yes, but look at his push BEFORE she took over creative. Nearly identical. He was still winning tons and going over tons of talent in the process. The fact that his push resumed when he returned from his injury only made sense since he was one of the top 5 when he went down to the quad tear. Geez.

One of the other wrestlebabies asks if they can ride Undertaker's tricycle... "I'm not feelin' it." ;p

gimmicks....don't you love it!!!??? I've never been a gimmick poster, pal. I say what I think. Deal with it.
-
I agree, Warren, but you'll hardly - if ever - hear a complaint about it here.
-
Now you are just being an idiotic HHH troll. Everybody knows that Meltz is the most reliable source for insider news, and has several ties backstage. Yes, because when dealing with "insider sources" everyone knows they never lie and work the dirtsheet reporters like good ol' "Meltz"... Who's the troll? *looks at Sambo*

1. HHH was World Champion four times between August/99 and May/00 2. He lost one of those titles to Big Show and won it back two months later. 3. I can't quite recall when the whole marriage angle was going on, but even if they were dating, Stephanie was not head of creative back then. 4. It would be nearly TWO YEARS [8 months of those where he was injured] before HHH got the World Title back after he lost it to the Rock in June of 2000.. where was his "push from screwing the bosses daughter" then...? If anything, your gripe about his push would only have any merit from the time he returned from his quad injury at Rumble 2002... and even then it's still a flimsy argument. Again, like I said before, grasping at straws. You're really bad at it, by the way.

...not to mention he'll probably be mediocre at everything he does. Just like daddy.

Lagana wrote for Friends. I think that every show that Gewirtz wrote for got cancelled or dropped.

There used to be a couple who'd always be seen on WWF shows too.. they'd wear neon [yellow and pink] wind breakers and both had buzzcuts with glasses [yes, the woman did too.. either that or very short]. Or, does anyone remember the dude who was always dressed as Hogan? From WWF shows to WCW.. I never saw him at any WWE shows when Hogan re-emerged though. I had heard rumors that he was Hogan's PR guy, but I'm sure that was bullshit.

Most of the time IMDB is correct.. but you have to remember that a lot of their info is submitted by users, therefore a lot of it is either inaccurate or just made up. ...and as for the spelling, it is Gewirtz.

I gotcha. But what I mean, is that before HHH's quad injury, he was pulling out some pretty memorable matches. Now, I'll be the first to admit, he's not the workhorse he used to be but he's still watchable. He gained weight and changed his style. What's he supposed to do? Keep wrestling the same style so he can get injured all over again? Smarks all over the net called him "The New Man" [a la Ric Flair] before the quad injury... but when he returned from the injury and couldn't work the same style, they all turned on him. Now all it is is bitching about his "workrate" and that he's "fucking the bosses daughter to get his push" - which is another crock of shit, seeing as HHH is a wrestler who WWE invested a lot of TIME and MONEY into BEFORE he started dating Stephanie. Why the fuck would they bust an established name --who's been in the Federation for years and has had amazing feuds with the likes of Rock, Foley, Austin-- down to the opening matches? Anyways, what I meant was, it'd be interesting to see if the opinions would change for any of the smark darlings [benoit, Angle, Eddy, etc] should they encounter the same type of scenario, coming back from a big injury and not working as good as they did and doing what they can to stay on top.
-
Of course they were probably all DX fans. But Hunter injured his quad and can't work as great as he used to and of course they all turn on him. I'd love to see what they'd do if Smark Darlings Benoit or Angle went through the same scenario of events.
-
Well, I am glad that Meltzer is so up on who's "jelous" of who these days. It's a good thing we have him to tell us that.
-
Either way, you're acting like making a fucking SIDE comment is burial of another wrestler. Yeah, I'm really sure that Angle's career is just going to flop now that Triple H called him a paper champion a few weeks ago. Oh god no!! A heel insulted a face on a wrestling program, whatever will we do?!
-
Well the company must have thought so, or else he wouldn't have been saying it. Even Austin has said in the past that the writer's script the promos. Besides, it's not HHH's job to promote other superstars on the other brand. You HHHaters sure love your straw grasping.
-
True. But there's a way to do it without wasting an attire slot. I can't remember which game did it, but one in the past would just throw a ref's shirt on the wrestler who was playing special guest ref. I'm sure they could easily do that.
-
When he's dropping side comments about people not being able to "work" in his promos, that's a shoot. "Work" is not a kayfabe term, it's an insider term. Likewise, why would you go off on tangents to bury people that either aren't around (Rock in Hollywood, Austin possibly never returning from a bad neck) or people that aren't even working for your brand (Angle)? When have you ever heard any other heel go out of his way like that to bury somebody that he isn't even working with? I'll tell you: Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. Shawn and Bret used to go out of their way to take little digs at each other, because it was a shoot. A lot of the time there was no logical explanation for it, because they weren't even working together. Trips learned from the best. And I never claimed to be an expert on when a shoot's a shoot...but I'm not blind and retarded, either, you little wHHHore. Ooh, the insults are flying. I'm so offended. Er wait, scratch that, no I'm not. I'd rather be a wHHHore than a mindless drone who does nothing but complain. Oh, and taking one line shots at guys in a promo is not considered burying them, you twit.

Note to mach7:WWE sucks. Wrestling died the day ECW died. FUCK VINCE! Stop kissing Vince's ass. Note to JN: no shit Sherlock. What rock have you been living under? This conversation isn't about Vince - I can't stand him either - this is about Triple H and people CONSTANTLY fucking whining about him and THINKING that they know what's going on. "Oh, that comment was a shoot, you can just tell." Give me a break.
-
First, I don't recall ever NOT liking HHH. Second, I'm glad to see that someone keeps up with their history on this forum, even though none of it matters. Though, it's no secret that I admire Trips and encourage him to hold down as many whiney Smark Darlings as possible. I also encourage him to fuck the bosses daughter and to one day [hopefully] take over WWE so that we can all bask in the greatness that is The Game forever and ever, amen. PS - none of that was sarcasm.
