WWE General Discussion - February 2008

I love that Big Show was cool with that proposed finish. Good shit right there.

Mississippi doesnt want restaurants serving fat people

And the fact that Fast food is a lot cheaper. Also - If people are going to use that excuse, then they can just get their fast food at places like Subway. They have quite a few selections that are perfectly healthy for you and are low cost. The turkey breast is under $5 for crying out loud.

    Cloverfield

I don't really care where it came from, I just loved seeing it fuck shit up. Plus, the movie is presented that it's entirely off of an SD card that the military apparently found. No more. No less. Of course that wouldn't explain where it came from. Why would the civilians filming and running for their lives know where it came from? Sure you could argue that they could've slipped in some "before and after" military scenes.. but, IMO, then it'd be "just another movie" - leaving out the convoluted backstory is part of what makes this movie so enjoyable.

Seriously - WWE.com's "let's put an advertising page in after EVERY FUCKING LINK" thing is really starting to wear thin...

    Global Impact

Details on the DVD - http://www.tnawrestling.com/content/view/529/84/ I love that there'll be Japanese commentary available on this. Also - whatever happened to Bernard coming over to TNA? Wasn't there a rumor of them signing him even before Tomko came aboard?

It's quite different even past that though. Smokers aren't forced OUT of restaurants.. they can still eat there, they just can't smoke there. I always get a kick out of their whining.. like it's so difficult to step outside to smoke a cig.

BMI charts are bullshit. They don't even take into account the fact that muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less space. As for teaching people about healthy diets.. I agree.. but, it's getting them to LISTEN in the first place.

George Romero talks "Diary of the Dead"

Some cameos / "maybe" spoilers... Well, it's listed on IMDB's cast page... whatever, tagging it just incase:

    There Will Be Blood

FINALLY saw it last night. Fucking LOVED it!
  11. http://www.variety.com/article/VR111797980...yid=13&cs=1 Seriously.. Was this really needed? Apparently Near Dark as well?! I know I sound like a broken record with this, but FUCK REMAKES. I don't CARE how "this generation" interprets classic horror flicks from the past. No one needs Michael Bay's take on Freddy Krueger! GET YOUR OWN FUCKING IDEAS ALREADY! Christ... /rant

    Nightmare on Elm Street

6 was probably my favourite growing up, but I've gained a lot more appreciation for the first movie since then. That said, the one thing I really hate about 6 is that fucking Alice Cooper soundtrack. Ugh..

    LOST

The eye/eyebrow that peeked out the window at him looked like Locke to me. EDIT: Or not. Just got a better look at it on the Lostpedia site. Definitely not Locke.

    No More Heroes

Wow I picked the wrong night to finish this game. Took a "special" cookie from a friend with the intent to watch some Aqua Teen Hunger Force and veg on the couch.. well when it didn't kick in after 2 hours I decided to play NMH. When's DOES it decide to kick in? Right at the cutscene before rank #1 begins.. ergh, as if it wasn't confusing enough already, lol.

The latest glow was to signify an update to the Check Mii Out channel, I believe.

    LOST

It's because they've joined the main cast. You get a credit for that even if you don't appear on a given episode.
  17. ..and she had to be Persian/Arabic, too.
  18. Of all the gimmicks to mimic.. there's no payoff to doing this. Idiots.

    Cloverfield

According to Cloverfield's Wiki entry, "On January 31st, 2008, The E! Channel's Daily 10 show confirmed there will be a sequel to Cloverfield, citing 65 million earned at the box office influencing the decision."

    LOST

Wow, this season 1, 2, 3 recap thing has some of the most uninspired narration/voiceover work I've ever heard. Michael Emerson sounds like he's sleepwalking though the thing.

All of this F13 talk.. I smell a marathon a brewin' in my DVD player this weekend.

    Nightmare on Elm Street

Yes, tragically, that is correct. Because he did such a GREAT job with the two new Texas Chainsaw flicks, don't ya know. I suppose these horror remakes actually make money, sadly enough. I mean, shit, how many have there been? Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Chainsaw prequel, The Hills Have Eyes, THHE 2, The Fog, Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween, When a Stranger Calls, The Wicker Man... ugh... probably several more I'm forgetting. And exactly ONE of them, Dawn of the Dead, has been any good at all. THE THING and THE FLY seem to get a lot of love as they are great movies and they were remakes. Not every remake has been shit as much as fans want to believe this. Krueger haunted 8 films. Nightmare 1-5, Freddy's Dead, New Nightmare and Freddy vs Jason. Unless they count Freddy's apperance at the end of Jason goes to hell. Actually, Englund didn't play "Freddy" at the end of JASON GOES TO HELL, that was Kane Hodder. Well, yeah. It was a friggin hand. Also, the Thing wasn't a remake. It was another take on the novella "Who Goes There." Much like "The Last Man on Earth", "The Omega Man", and "I am Legend" aren't remakes of eachother, they're different takes on the short story "I am Legend" by Richard Matheson. Same goes for the Fly movies - different takes on the short story by George Langelaan. Remakes, IMO, are when someone elses original movie/screenplay/teleplay is taken and "changed to fit the times" or given "a new vision" or some other lame ass justificaiton.
