    Raw 9/6/04

Hey gang, I just tuned in time to see Orton stuttering like an idiot. Did I miss anything else?

How to stomp out a return...

There's a big difference between showing a pre-taped segment with HBK and him popping up a the arena live. He'll get a nice pop. I hate the little fucker, but even I will acknowledge that he'll get cheered. As for the throat injury, it has had time to heal. It will however look stupid if he returns with some kind of neck brace. Unless he then reveals he was faking to surprise Kane.

    Hypothetically speaking....

    1. For the next several weeks, WWE would have moving tributes and video packages to HHH... "and oh yeah, those other guys that died too." 2. Upon joining the company, Nash and Hogan would have noticed he could wrestle and talk, and would have buried him so deep that they would have struck oil in the process. 3. Vince would have kept buying out any talent just for the spite of it, like he did with AWA. He wouldn't have stayed in business for much longer.
  4. My point is that if they want to project professionalism, they can start from the top. When employees have to travel, most companies pick up the full tab, including hotel. Pissant little companies have better employee packages than WWE. I know a guy who put groceries on shelves for a living, and he gets fantastic health care, bonuses, incentives for further training. Yes, he follows a dress code, and it's well worth the trade. With the money WWE rakes in, they could do the same. I'm sure many wrestlers would take a little less pay too for benefits.
  5. The problem is WWE wants all the benefits of full time professional employees, and none of the responsibilities. You want employees to abide a dress code? Great, fine. Then you should have no problem paying the way for every person in the company--hotel, airfare, and hey, how about health insurance for everyone, which is what real companies do.

WWE News & Notes from the 8/30 Observer

God bless the WWE - they decide to push the guy with legit mental problems. A wrestler's mental stability is a low priority in the WWE. Now, what they wear on an airplane trip, THAT'S important.

    The Stevie in drag storyline

Victoria was about 1000 times more interesting as a heel than as a face. Nidia, for as much a worker she's not, actually had a character on Smackdown. Why did they move her? It's a lot like what happened to Matt Hardy. He had a gimmick and a personality on Smackdown. Until this Kane/Lita crap, he had nothing when he moved to Raw.

Now this is how to handle the crowd reaction. Work with it. Not whine about it.

He's just quoting the company line. HHH also created fire. Who built the pyramids? HHH! Who built Stonehenge? HHH! Yeah, man you see guys walking down the street pushing shopping carts and you think they're talking to Allah, they're talking to themself. Man, no they're talking to HHH! HHH! HHH! You know whats going on in that Bermuda Triangle? Down in the Bermuda Traingle HHH needs boats! HHH needs boats!

The audience sounds pretty pissed at this segment.

Ah, I join just in time to see the Diva Search. Yes, the fact that the Diva wannabes have learned how to use naughty language has saved this gimmick. I now feel compelled to watch every WWE program and buy lots of WWE merchandise. This angle is working Vince. Fire anybody who tells you otherwise.

The roll up as a finisher

I don't mind roll-ups, as long as they don't come from out of nowhere. If a wrestler has just taken a hard shot and is slightly stunned, then yeah, I buy he can fall victim to a roll-up. Just suddenly being grabbed and held for the pin without any build annoys the hell out of me.

    Lyger

I don't know much about this Lyger guy, but he sounds exactly like the kind of guy WWE would have A-train squash frequently in order to build him up for his next feud with the Undertaker.

    Did WWE create a monster?

The problem is that once you justify one person's politics, you justify it for anyone, and anything goes. I don't believe that the politicians in WWE always think to themselves "I am going to squash that guy's career! MWU HAHAHAHA!" They probably convince themselves they are really doing the right thing for the business, it just happens to benefit them. What we really need is management that really listens to fans, and isn't afraid to tell the so called locker room leaders that it's their turn to job, and they better do it right and with a smile on their faces.

The Reason why WWE turned Orton...

I don't think its so bad that Randy Orton ran away. I'm just annoyed that they took forever to make a face smart enough to realize that Evolution gangs up on people. "Hmmm... I have a title match against HHH tonight. Evolution interfered in the last 40 matches. I wonder if they'll jump me tonight? Ah, I'm just being paranoid."

    Real Life Heat

This was hardly the first time the story went around, Michael Lansberg and UT talked about it on an episode of OTR a few years back. Too bad nobody was around to threaten Taker during Brock's time.

    Eugene news

They should have had Christian be the guy manipulating him, and not HHH. It would have pushed them right to the top of the midcard where this angle would have been more comfortable, plus it would have made stars of them both.
  24. Well, Foley says the best gimmicks are to take a wrestler's real life personality and exagerrate it slightly.

    Make a statement

Statement: The IWC tends to generalize about itself. There were people who criticized Eddie for fighting with fans. There were also people who said that what JLB did in Germany was no big deal. I am not saying either opinion is right or wrong, just that there is diversity in smark opinion.
