    Darkness Singer To Replace Mercury

Not to worry, it's all BS anyway, according to none other than Brian May. His response(s) to the issue are at http://www.brianmay.com/brian/brianssb/brianssb.html

Learning To Live is in the extras section, as is A Mind Beside Itself and A CHANGE OF SEASONS~!

    Dream Theater - Metropolis 2000

Incorrect: the footage for Another Day from the DVD gig is on the 3rd CD of Live Scenes From New York (the audio version of the whole gig), as is the footage of Jordan Rudess' keyboard solo from the gig, so that's probably what he saw.

    New Dream Theater radio single!

http://home.comcast.net/~dtawake/dreamtheaterasiam.mp3 As played on the Eddie Trunk show last weekend. Ripped from the stream of the repeat. It's not the full version of As I Am, but for a radio edit, it's pretty cool.

    New Dream Theater radio single!

TOT is probably DT's most full-on 'balls and chunk' ( © Mike Portnoy) album, and was basically designed to give off a 'classic metal album' vibe. 'As I Am' is probably the weakest song on the album for me, but 'Honor Thy Father', 'This Dying Soul', 'Stream Of Conciousness' and 'In The Name of God' all kick ass. Go buy it. And buy Awake, Scenes From A Memory and Images & Words while you're at it.

    End of prime for RVD

Yeah, but he was resurrected at the end of Season 3, and used the power of the Matrix to destroy the Hate Plague. </Transformers Mark>

    The existence of the IMC?

Hmm...might have a crack at this...most of the good ones have been done though. The Maiden/Flair one is especially accurate, as Bruce Dickison works as a commercial airline pilot when he's not doing Maiden stuff, thereby creating the whole 'jet plane riding son of a gun' thing. Opeth = Eddie Guerrerro Both had a strong underground following for a good number of years before switching their 'place of work' (Opeth to Music For Nations and Eddie to WWF/E), and their recent work there gaining them a whole new level of fans (Eddie catching on with the latino demographic, Opeth with their last three albums). The only thing I can't really parallel very well is Eddie going off the rails and getting clean. The nearest thing to that is the problems Opeth had recording Damnation and Deliverance, or maybe Martin Lopez' recent nervous breakdown. What about Dream Theater? I was thinking Dynamite Kid, but I'm not sure if that'd be good enough...or maybe even Benoit.

Spielburg to do Star Wars 7-9

Basically the last remaining Grand Admiral of the Empire starts a war against the new reforming republic. He's an alien with blue skin and he's very evil but also a friggin genius. Anyways he begins a fight using old Empire ships and soldiers and begins cloning soldiers. This leads us into Mara Jade who was actually the "hand of the emperor" and her vendetta to kill Luke Skywalker...even though they end up getting married later. And some other stuff happens that I can't remember because I read the books in the 7th grade and I'm a sophmore in college now. Someone else can feel in the details. But that's the basics. Holy Hell, that sounds HORRIBLE. There are far worse SW books than the Thrawn novels...The Crystal Star, Darksaber, Children of the Jedi, anything by Kevin J. Anderson. All IMO, of course. YMMV.

Spielburg to do Star Wars 7-9

I really don't see this happening as... 1: The original story ideas Lucas had for Episodes 7-9 were condensed into ROTJ. IIRC, the original plan was to extend the story over the last three episodes, having Luke fall to the Dark Side and having Leia become the one that saves the day. Well, something to that effect anyway, my memory of what I read on the subject is a bit foggy. 2: The Star Wars movies are ultimately about Anakin Skywalker's fall from grace and redemption by his son. I'd love to see some sort of live action or animated adaptation of the Thrawn Trilogy or the Rogue Squadron books, but I doubt we'll see Episodes 7, 8 and 9 for the reasons above.

25 most overrated games of all time

One omission that I was hoping would be in there, although I dunno if anyone else will remember it...Rise Of The Robots. Anyone else remember that? 3D-rendered robot fighting game that was pimped up in UK games magazines for what seemed like DECADES, got a big prestigious multi-format release, and the game was FUCKING DREADFUL. Sub-Shaq-Fu dreadful. Seriously. Download the Megadrive/SNES version, or the Amiga version, or the Jaguar version, or any other version, and witness the over-rated hyped-up crapfest that is ROTR.
  14. Fresh from the Dream Theater site... Edit: whoops, subject line was too long. Ah well.

New GNR song on the radio

As an aside to this, there's a recording of an Eddie Trunk show with Chris Jericho and Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater as the guests on mikeportnoy.com's audio section. It's a long listen, split into three parts of about 45 minutes each, but pretty damn entertaining. http://www.mikeportnoy.com/media/audio/Def...ow+11%2D16%2D02

So I want to buy a guitar...

Yeesh, that sounds like a monstrous bass rig...with 700W it must have clean headroom for days. Not the thing to use if you want a Lemmy bass sound And if you're talking about using it for guitar, you're clearly quite, quite mad.

Answering a Black Metal Band Ad. Fun for EVERYONE.

Probably the funniest part is that the guy making the call isn't even black. This is so funny I used a clip of it as an intro to one of my songs

So I want to buy a guitar...

Metal guitars on the cheap...Hmm...and a first guitar too. Interesting. Well, something with knobs, coil taps, phase switches, a Floyd Rose trem and all that jazz is probably a bit much for a first guitar, so something relatively simple, well-constructed and toneful is what you're looking for. The Samick Les Paul sounds like it could be a good deal, but I'd keep a close eye on the hardware (pickup mounting rings, tuners, knobs etc) and the electronics; Samick make Epiphones (and a shitload of other cheapo guitars), and Epiphones can sometimes have iffy hardware and electronics (both my Epi Les Paul 7-string and my friend's Epi Black Beauty have had iffy pickup rings, causing the neck pickup on my LP and the middle pickup on his LP to fall inside the cavity). An SG-style guitar wouldn't go amiss here too, just be careful; if it falls onto its back, the thin body means that the first thing to hit the ground will be the headstock, and it may snap off. Bronze series BC Rich - teh sh1tz0rz. NJs are apparently pretty good (the new Floyd Rose Speedloader sounds like a good idea, but probably still not good for a guitar newbie - a hard-tail is where to go). If you can find one cheap, a Schecter might be right up your street, especially the C, A and 00 models. Yes, a lot of nu-metal players use them, but that doesn't mean the guitars suck, just the guitarists. I hear lots of good things about Raven West guitars and Agile guitars. Google is your friend here, but ISTR that Agile do some STUNNING copies for crazy prices. If only we got that sort of stuff here in the UK.... To boil it down somewhat, these are the qualities I would look for in a guitar for you... Two humbucking pickups (single coils in metal - BAD! Well, unless it's a clean section) hard-tail bridge (no trem!) jumbo frets (just the thing for metal) Oh, and what about an amp?
