Oh, by the way, NBC is forgiven for the iTunes thing because they will be streaming episodes of The Office free online this year. Thank god.

That's why the Safety Training commentary was my favorite. They actually talked about the behind-the-scenes stuff, not just saying over and over "(Actor) is just so good in this scene." Obviously. But The Job especially pissed me off, because it's one of the most important scenes in the entire series and you just hear Melora saying "I love this scene, it's so cute."

I agree, Milky. The only thing I remember seeing him in outside of Cross-related stuff was Larry Sanders. And even then he usually had Rip Torn kicking his ass so he was in good hands.

Part of me is excited, the other part of me knows that Odenkirk has kinda gone to shit (as a director, I haven't seen him act in anything recent). Mr. Show is my favorite sketch comedy ever, so I hope they don't tarnish that legacy. Do something different.

And a hearty congratulations to "Dick in a Box" for taking home the Creative Arts Emmy for Best Original Song.

I'm going to see Ryan Adams & The Cardinals this Friday. Between this and Bob Dylan/Elvis Costello/Amos Lee two weeks later, September has become an amazing month.

Ah, nevermind. This sounds much better. From the same source:

It was originally the Harvey scene. I think they took it out because it starts playing on the menu for disc 3. And it's also in the deleted scenes. I do like the recut, combined version of that episode though. The thing about Pam winning the art show is really cute, especially when she brings up the picture on Google Image Search, clicks "see full-size image," and it's the exact same size. Now that I've seen all the commentaries: "Safety Training" was far and away my favorite, while "Beach Games" and "TS/TR" were runners up. Most annoying commentators: Melora Hardin (of course) and Stanley the Manley, because all he did was narrate the scenes. What was the point of Krasinski being on them though? He hardly says anything. I was sad to see they cut a lot of Ryan/Kelly stuff, especially because it's SO DAMN GOOD. The scene from "Benihana Christmas" (Don't dump me when I'm in the dumpster!) is amazing.

Yeah, the reviews are horrible. Speaking of Will Arnett, the independent-film-screening club here at school is showing "Wristcutters: A Love Story" Sunday. I looked it up on imdb and see that Will Arnett plays "Messiah." I am definitely going to see it.

Yeah, too much of a bummer. Stuff I love on the DVD so far: "Safety Training" and "Women's Appreciation" commentaries. The other ones I've heard, "The Coup" and "Initiation," weren't especially good. The deleted scene from "Diwali" where Jan slips about Kelly being Muslim and backtracks like a mad woman. Amazing. The blooper reel. Obviously.

After a big contract dispute with iTunes, NBC is now going to be putting its shows up for download on Amazon's Unbox: http://unbox.amazon.com. Still $1.99, though I and Mac users everywhere had a meltdown as I read: Usage: Only available for US customers located in the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia. You can keep purchased videos on 2 PCs or TiVo DVRs and 2 portable video players at the same time. System Requirements: Requires a Windows-based PC (XP or Vista) or a broadband-connected TiVo DVR (Series2 or Series3). Fuck, NBC.

Well they were originally planned and written as one episode (notice they were both written by Michael Schur and Gene Stupnitsky & Lee Eisenberg and directed by Greg Daniels). And in an extremely short time span, if I remember correctly, because of the size of the season order; I think the hour was written over all of about 3 days, and that's quite amazing considering those two episodes are two of the best of the season.

Ryan Adams songs: 1. "Life is Beautiful" (Cold Roses) 2. "I Taught Myself How to Grow Old" (Easy Tiger, but I prefer the live version) 3. "My Winding Wheel" (Heartbreaker) 4. "Magnolia Mountain" (Cold Roses) 5. "La Cienga Just Smiled" (Gold) albums: 1. Easy Tiger 2. Cold Roses 3. Gold 4. Heartbreaker 5. Jacksonville City Nights

Finally saw it. Samesies. Superbad will probably hold up better over time, but Hot Rod had more frequent and louder laughs from me because I wasn't expecting ANYTHING of what I saw. Plus, I have heard Superbad incessantly quoted over the last few weeks. It was still great though.

Nah, I just ordered the regular version from amazon, which shipped today. There is a detailed account of the DVD and its extras from OfficeTally: http://www.officetally.com/guide-to-the-office-season-3-dvd Apparently the Target Special Edition has a video from The Office Q&A panel at Paley Fest, but I'm not sure how long it is (considering the event itself was an hour or two).

I still can't believe the two nearest theaters to my school aren't showing Superbad. Especially now that everyone is back and classes started. What the hell. This Friday I might be able to bum a ride to a theater playing it about 30 minutes away.

Tuesday: Bones Thursday: 30 Rock The Office Scrubs Sarah Silverman SNL, Letterman, Conan, Daily Show/Colbert when I have the time.

Bob is so much better as an actor than a director. But we'll see. This, Shoot 'Em Up, and 3:10 to Yuma make the weekend of September 7th very busy.

Disagree. I like it as much as, if not more than, Twin Cinema. I'm very satisfied.

Oh, this made me laugh. Found it at TVSquad.

If you haven't heard, Jenna Fischer starred in a music video for Willie Wisely, "Through Any Window":

That was the guidance counselor. Ken went to him because he assumed he was gay, but he denied it. And isn't Carla Gallo like 30? How can she still play a high schooler.
